The art of directing has come a long way since the first moving pictures.

I wonder if art schools today encourage young film/video makers to avoid certain visual cliches?

Wow. I’ve got to watch again with one window opened to the list.

The back to the camera shot seems to be the most powerful statement.

Ohio Police Chief Accidentally Eats Daughter’s Weed-Cake, Goes Insane

Slow day in the blogosphere, and in the news.

Did you know that Monday is Tax Day?

Many animal-related expenses are tax deductible

Did you know that Monday is Tax Day?

Yep. Had to mail in my extension form today. It’s not going to be pretty when we go hat in hand to the IRS office in the near future…

I can just barely afford to pay my taxes (I’m so poor right now), but I’m both surprised and grateful that I can.

Not one to hide from the real reason of it all, Dubai police spokesman speaks plainly:

Taller, now faster - Dubai police get Lamborghinis

The city that boasts the world’s tallest building is equipping its police with $400,000 Lamborghini sports cars that Dubai’s deputy police chief says are in keeping with the Gulf capital’s image.

They also go fast, since according to the website of Lamborghini, an affiliate of the Volkswagen Group, all the Italian company’s cars reach 100 kph (60 mph) in well under six seconds.

Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina said that a fleet of Lamborghinis, each estimated to cost around $400,000, had been obtained by the Dubai police for use at main tourist sites.

“The aim is to reflect the reputation of the emirate and the high stature it achieved,” Mazeina said.

You mean, expensive sports cars are bought to show off status?

When I say I’ve been working on my taxes all day, I really mean I’ve been catching up on bookkeeping that I should have been doing at regular intervals all last year. Tomorrow I’ll actually be working on my taxes.

The only time I looked at a Lamborghini in person, it was a 5 foot tall car that you had to lie down in to drive and which had no visibility.

That’s tall?

I see Eric son of Erick’s website is pushing GOSNELL! hard today.

Without any reflection on the actual discussions when the crimes first came to light.

The past means nothing to these people, except for a mythological past that they create to comfort themselves.

When it comes to my taxes I usually make an appointment to see my accountant on President’s Day. In a couple of weeks I get my paperwork back from him and then he faxes my returns.

Yep. Not quick enough, though.

Ha. Take in cash, deposit it or not. But never use cash to pay for any business expense. Then your tax person can use your bank statements in their entirety as your year. Nothing more needed.

Unless I’m missing something. My caveat was I’ll prepare your books, but the CPA figures out what to do from there.

Gah! What asshats. That kind of ostentation is disgusting to me. If they want to have meaningful stature they should buy normal police cars, and then spend the $350K saved on each one on helping the suffering & needy.

Going back to my emails before I blow a fuse.

The ‘taller’ in the headline refers to the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building (formerly known as the the Burj Dubai).

The La County Sheriff’s Dept had at least two Lamborghinis, purchased to pursue suspects in very fast cars. One of my high school friends and his family were actually pulled over by one of the Lambo’s while on vacation in LA.
