Watching the interview with former Senator Hutchinson was interesting. I sort of felt like she perhaps wanted to agree with him on some points but she also doesn’t want to rule out running for office again as a Republican, so she was dancing along the party line.

Of course, I might be completely incorrect on my read in that situation as well, but just offering how it came across to me.

My Twitters is telling me that former Bush official and torture apologist Marc Thiessan is on Faux complaining that “nobody is beating up on Obama admin because of Boston attacks.”

I so long for the days long past when any criticism of a (Republican) presidential administration DURING WARTIME is completely treason and unAmerican.

I once walked out of a car dealership. JUST WALKED OUT. I was about to sign and there was something about the salesman that just CREEPED ME THE FUCK OUT and I just walked out.

He called and called, offered to lower the price, but it was too late. Got another car somewhere else.

Yes.

As the traditional outsourcing targets have gotten higher and higher pay standards (I.E. approaching a moderate fraction of what the labor is actually worth), companies have been outsourcing to new areas that haven’t experienced as much growth.

Thing is, the famous Austin person he’s referring to wasn’t transgender at all. Leslie was a cross-dresser, not transgender. He identified as a man, but he happened to like wearing women’s clothing.

So Alex Jones is an even bigger idiot than usual.

You know, if he did, good for him. If he got there with his AR15 and was about to kill other people and had a moment of clarity and shot himself before he could carry it out, well, it’s too bad he got to that dark place but, having got there, that’s the better decision.

I’d much rather deal with the trauma of well-armed men shooting themselves in public than shooting others.

19-Year-Old Charged With Making Pipe Bombs

A Chevy Chase man has been charged with possessing destructive devices after his girlfriend’s father found pipe bombs in his duffle bag.

Kyle G. Druckemiller, 19, was charged with 2 counts of knowingly manufacturing, transporting and possessing a destructive device by a Montgomery County judge Thursday afternoon.

Investigators say the father of Druckemiller’s girlfriend discovered the bombs after checking a duffle bag that Druckemiller had brought with him while he visited the girlfriend.

It’s unclear what Druckemiller intended to do with the bombs, though investigators say he claimed he learned to make them on YouTube.

How the fuck is it legal to make firearms specifically for children? What the hell is next, Jack Daniels Jr. , available in take along sippy cups with cute little pictures on them?

I do get the gun culture thing to some degree, having grown up right on the edge of Appalachia, I do understand about hunting and needing protection to some degree in a rural area. But I also know for a fact that not a single adult on either side of my family would have presented any of us kids with a firearm as a gift, let alone a BB gun before we were at least in our teens.

5-year-old shoots 2-year-old sister in Kentucky with rifle he got as a gift

This jumped out at me:

In southern Kentucky, where children get their first guns even before they start first grade, Stephanie Sparks paid little attention as her 5-year-old son, Kristian, played with the rifle he was given last year. Then, as she stepped onto the front porch while cleaning the kitchen, “she heard the gun go off,” a coroner said.

WTF? A five year old is playing with a real gun, and his mother ignores him?

NC GOP decides they don’t need to count votes

Democrats in North Carolina say they could have defeated a bill to repeal renewable energy subsidies on Wednesday if Republicans had not pushed it through committee without counting the votes.

The state Senate Finance Committee debated the bill to end the state’s 6-year-old renewable energy program for over 40 minutes before Republican chairman Bill Rabon called for a motion.

“It’s still a factor that renewable energy sources really don’t provide a constant reliable source of electricity to be put into the grid and that means that we still have to have the baseload plant cost into delivering electricity so that anytime that switch is turned on, there has to be power there,” bill supporter state Sen. Bob Rucho (R) argued. “So with that being said, I move for a favorable report.”

As one lawmaker shouted out to have the votes counted by a show of hands, Republican chairman Bill Rabon called for the yeas and nays, decided that the motioned carried and then gaveled the hearing to a close.

It will be interesting to see if NC has the same rule Congress has. That is, if a voice vote is held and any member requests, a “stand up and be counted” vote will be held. And if 1/5 of the members request it, a recorded vote will be made. Both override the decision of the voice vote if the results are different - numbers beat noise.

It’s a committee meeting first of all. So frog-knows what rules they are operating under.

Per something like “Robert’s Rules of Order” there were definitely violations by the chair since requesting a role call vote is within the rights of the members. Plus the closing the of the meeting can be appealed and voted on as well.

Reminds me of the weird things that happened in Wisconsin a couple of years ago, where the GOP went so far to turn off the CSPAN cameras.

The shitty part about all this is that when the Democrats play by the rules, some Republican decider is going to “get things done”. And people will vote for it.
