A Wild Interview With John McAfee at Slashdot

“Samantha is extremely jealous and twice tried to stab me”

If you need something to clear the mental palate after that ridiculous Benghazi hearing, try this memorable interview with John McAfee, founder of McAfee Anti-Virus, genuine wildman, and occasional fugitive from the law: Interview: John McAfee Answers Your Questions.

“Here is another common disguise I used that would work for any well known CEO.”

Doesn’t it bother you that your name is being used to peddle one of the worst anti-virus products on the market? Often it comes pre-installed on computers as a 30 day trial (crapware), with dire warnings flashed up in the event that the user fails to pay (scareware). The performance hit it brings is huge. Would you advise anyone else to name their product/company after themselves in this way?

McAfee: I haven’t been involved with McAfee Anti-virus for 21 years. When I ran the company the software was the best and least intrusive on the market, and in 1991 we had 87% of the world market. What happened after I left was none of my doing. As to name association, I am a master at sullying my own name and, all things considered, being associated with the worst software on the planet ranks way down the pole. It’s barely a blip in the ocean of associations - madman, paranoid, child molester, murderer, drug addict, unstable, liar, to name but a few.Thank god I’m 67 and will probably be too hard of hearing soon enough to have to listen to them rattling around wherever I go. Amy, thankfully, did half the job already by bursting my left eardrum when she tried to shoot me in the head while I slept back in 2011.

The man’s a role model…not a great role model, but a role model.

That quote above should pass into legend. I am still trying to wrap my head around some it.

Wow. That sort of thing sort of puts everything else in perspective, I suppose.

The man’s Q&A reads like an excerpt from Fear and Loathing. Are we sure he’s not Raoul Duke in disguise?

I just looked up who Jodi Arias is. Am I missing something? It just seems like any other murder trial. What’s the wingnut catnip in this one?

Often I have ranted about the know-nothings who simply refuse to accept reality as we have determined it, such as regarding climate change.

Yet it remains that “climate change” is such an esoteric subject that it is reduced to a football that political operatives punt back and forth as needed for their own goals.

I say that because another MoJo headline today illustrates how some of that crowd is likewise more interested in headlines than education:

Finally, Some Not-Terrible Climate News: Greenland Not Melting Any Faster

Besides being inherently ambiguous as far as grammar (i.e., “faster” is a relative term - faster than what?), one of the problems here is that the MoJo writer is conflating outlet glacier ice flow with the of the “melting” of the ice sheet.

Here is the Nature paper:
Future sea-level rise from Greenland’s main outlet glaciers in a warming climate

It has been suggested for some time that the outlet glacier flow would be constricted by the geography (the physical channels of the bed rock through which the glaciers flow).

The MoJo writer, McDonnell, did a similar thing last fall too.

He keeps trying to make larger statements out of smaller observations. He over generalizes from the specifics of studies. And furthermore, he really doesn’t seem to appreciate the depth of the future, and the totality of the change.

Yeah, I don’t get it either. I just read the Wiki entry about her and it sounds like a recap from an episode of Snapped. I don’t get all the fuss.

Ouch.

I had my right testicle shattered by a hammer in 1974 when I ran afoul of some local drug barons in Oaxaca. Its the size of a grape now and shaped like a small frisbee.

Note to self. Spend more time with your testicles.

I haven’t been following her trial, but apparently it had all the salacious ingredients for teevee. And the big verdict was revealed a couple of hours ago.

They’re particularly bent out of shape by the lack of startling revelations and smoking guns from today’s hearing, hence all the talk of startling revelations and smoking guns, which they can’t identify. This is much like the lies and coverup they also can’t define.

Speaking of climate change, Jonathan Chait has a new article out:

Does Obama Have a Secret Plan to Fight Climate Change?

[…]

But the main thing to look at here is the rest of the administration’s climate change agenda. After all, since Obama has this regulatory power at his disposal, the question is whether he cares enough about the issue to give it the attention and assume the potential political risk entailed in using it. My reading of Obama’s record — the green-energy subsidies in the stimulus; the broad array of emissions regulations on cars, appliances, and other things — suggests he cares about the issue a lot.

[…]

Chait’s commenters snark:

AARONMORROW
In any case, there’s indisputably a lot of evidence, if not proof, that the administration is preparing or not preparing to do something.

Schrödinger’s Plan!

The coverup has been successfully covered up.

NRA vendor sells “bleeding” female mannequin target

A company is selling a female zombie doll that bleeds fake blood when shot.

Named ‘Alexa’ the doll is a life-size mannequin that resembles a woman. She’s dressed in a skimpy white crop top. The doll retails for $89.95.

CBS Houston reports the ‘Alexa’ doll is one in a range of life-size zombie mannequins sold by Zombie Industries, which displayed its products at last weekend’s National Rifle Association convention in Houston.

Somehow the expression of “WTF” doesn’t even begin to do justice to my sentiments regarding how utterly deranged and disturbing this is… and they are…

“Against all odds, the woman turned out to be crazier than myself. After a year and a half, the fractured elements of her psyche reassembled themselves into an exact likeness of a snarling ferret and she self destructed. She destroyed all of our research results, destroyed our bacteria samples, erased the hard drives of our computers, destroyed our carefully collect plant samples and went home to Boston. I cogitated the situation for a brief period, said “Fuck it!” And went into the coffee business. Thus was formed the New River Coffee Company. “

Holy shit. Just… Holy shit.

This interview. It’s like Spider Jerusalem / Hunter S. Thompson decided to go into IT. I just… what the… Wow.
