More projection than a drive-in theater; however, I wouldn’t doubt that Farenthold and his fellow RWNJs in Congress have gotten some of their talking points from their compatriots at Fox News and other RW news outlets.

“He Went to Paris” is a bit of a tearjearker for me; it’s probably one of his best songs, IMO (and less well-known to casual fans who just know “Margaritaville” or Cheeseburger in Paradise” from the radio).

48 Sol Berdinowitz  Wed, May 15, 2013 2:41:20pm

I think the GOP quandry over Latinos is a bird-in-the-hand vs two-in.the-bush thing: can they risk alienating their core constituency over the chance of gaining some Hispanic votes?

And in addition, if they let these people into the party, they might start demanding other changes within the party, which nobody in the party wants.

So the choice is obvious: stick with the tried-and.true, don’t retreat, reload.

Arguable. HF gets mainstream GOP money and GOP leadership. In one sense they are as mainstream as the Republicans get, bless their souls.

It may be bird-in-the-hand vs two-in-the-bush now, but it will become vs three-in-the-bush, four-in-the-bush, etc., plus half of all Hispanics are women, plus black people hate the Republican brand even more.

But they’ll still make the same choice, apparently.

“He Went to Paris” is my favorite Buffet tune. Hubby is an amazing singer/guitarist and that’s one of the best he covers. He does a lot of John Prine too…most requested is “Please don’t bury me”. His late mother would always request it calling it “that donation song”.
