Phyllis Schlafly: Wake Up, White People!

Paleo-conservative dinosaur speaks, urges redoubled racism

In an interview this week with conservative radio program Focus Today, Schlafly just came right out and said it. Calling the GOP’s need to reach out to Latinos a “great myth,” Schlafly said that “the people the Republicans should reach out to are the white votes, the white voters who didn’t vote in the last election.” Schlafly accused the Republican “establishment” of nominating “a series of losers…who don’t connect with the grassroots.”

“The propagandists are leading us down the wrong path,” she said. “There’s not any evidence at all that these Hispanics coming in from Mexico will vote Republican.”

At least they’re getting more open about it.

Schlafly et. al. still thinks “Latino” is a race.

Anyway, yes, Schlafly is pulling the VDARE line here.

The racists have lamented that the GOP headliners just aren’t racist enough, because we all know if the GOP would just embrace their white people more then the GOP would be in power.

I don’t think Phyllis understands what “Demographic Trend” means.

But I’m pulling for her to take the R’s farther to the right, Bob Dole be damned! He’s a traitor with delusions of good governing policies, dontcha know…

If the GOP embraces such racist crap at this time, its rebranding failure will be complete.

65% of White men voted for Romney and a majority of White women did so as well, so how many more White people need to vote Republican for them to win the Presidency? I think the Republicans have maxed out on the White vote. But good luck to Ms. Schlafly and her ilk in 2016 as demographics continue to float away from her people.

The one thing committed RW nut jobs can’t stand is the essential simplicity of the US black vote.

At any point in time where the major parties have a significant difference in their levels of racism against blacks, the black vote splits accordingly.

I remember someone saying something about the Turks and Armenians being mutually nasty to each other in the last thread:

re: #378 kirkspencer

Probably? You’re arguing without having looked?

OK, a touch of history. In 2000 the UK had a less formal holocaust memorial day. The Armenian population objected. Maybe you were around and politically aware then, maybe you weren’t, but this got kind of big and nasty. It wasn’t resolved in 2001. The Turks and a lot of others were arguing it wasn’t a genocide - and in fact that the MBF was involved because the Armenians had been equally bloody toward Turks. If you go far enough back that’s true. Further there were various official documents (from both sides, again) that indicated the number of deaths was significantly smaller than any genocidal level. These are reasons the original plan was to have a hard cut-off date for genocides to be officially recognized. Because of the furor from Armenians recalling 2000, however, this was revisited and no ‘official’ cut-off was made. In practice what happened is that the ‘most recent’ genocide was considered - only tit, no tat.

For various reasons of give and take, then, the 2001 HMD’s theme wasn’t merely the holocaust, but genocides as a whole.

The MCB at that time disagreed. Both because of the official documents and the ‘only the most recent’ principle. Hate? not particularly. More a case of support of their allies.

Add to the mix the gay pride issues going on at the time. In addition to the holocaust the homosexuals were raising the allegation of their slaughter in numerous places around the globe. They hinged their claim on the holocaust but claimed much more. As it turned out their accuracy beyond WWII was mixed.

This gave a hook to the devout Muslims AND CHRISTIANS of the time who found themselves conflicted about respecting gays in the holocaust memorial service. The gays were making claims of genocide in addition, and for this reason “so-called” could be added to the discussion. It was, and is, a form of hatred.

But in no way was it ‘support of the Nazi’s slaughter of gays’. That is a significant misstatement driven by your apparent bigotry.

I would state this is half true. However, I would say that Armenia is where Ottomans/Turks “snapped” so to speak.

Throughout the 19th Century, Christian Europe kept chipping away at the Ottoman Empire, and generally having a history of being underhanded. And as these countries broke off, the Muslims in these local regions got pushed out or killed. In addition, when atrocities did occur, the only ones really covered were ones committed by the Ottomans. To this day, many European scholars dismiss these acts of horror. In fact, the only instance where a western nation covered Anti-Muslim atrocities was the Albanian Genocide in 1913. About a quarter to a third of all Albanians on the planet at the time died at the hands of a cruel, vicious, psychopathic occupation by Serbia and Greece. That is actually a huge amount of the reason for the Albanian hate towards the Serbians. And the country that was paying attention was the US. France was just fine with Albania not being on the map.

In fact this can be wound back to current Arab (excluding Libya) enmity to the US. They saw the US as different from Europe, more willing to stand up for them. However, Arabs felt shafted by Israel’s creation on the East Bank of the Jordan, which then got compounded by the ignoring of atrocities such as Deir Yassin (which likely created much of the impetus for the Anti-Semitism that exists in the Arab World now, along with the toxic influence of the Salafists and MB), the Al-Dawayima massacre, and the cleansing of Ramla and Lydda by both Western and Israeli officials led the many of those in the region to conclude the US, Europe, and Israel simply didn’t give a shit. Which leads to where we are now.

66 ProTARDISLiberal  Wed, May 29, 2013 5:42:23pm

re: #62 ProTARDISLiberal

And then this goes to the Bosnian War. Notice how little Mainland Europe gave a damn about the atrocities in Bosnia? A result of this very attitude that caused the pushout 100 years earlier. It was only a few nations that pushed for NATO intervention, the US eventually being in that group. Germany was especially cowardly, willing to block action more than a few time, though this seems to be a pattern, as the German Government has the moral backbone of a jellyfish.

Europe continues to have a very nasty attitude (with some exceptions) towards Muslims, and then they wonder why they aren’t assimilating. Yes, there have been radicalizing influences, but look in the damn mirror. This is why, as a Muslim, I love the US. No persecution from radicals here, and Anti-Muslim sentiment is much more low-key than in Europe. This nation could use some spit and polish, but I love it in general.

In addition, the Palestine issue above is compounded by the fact that not only where there Arabs in what is now Israel, but that many of them were of the descendants of that had been pushed out 70-100 years earlier by the Russians, the Circassians. So, many of those who were pushed out had only a generation or 3 earlier lost their homes. So, that compounds the issue.
