Sen. Frank Lautenberg Dies, Right Wing Blogs Spew Hatred

Horrible people
Wingnuts • Views: 31,084

New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg, the last World War II veteran in the Senate, died today at the age of 89.

And at right wing blogs all over the Internet, an orgy of ugly hatred erupted. For one example out of many (you’ll find comments like these at every wingnut blog today), here’s a small selection of the nastiness at Breitbart.com:

Hey Lets have a Party on the Patio!!

[…]

A time for Christie to show his true colors.
Bet he’s already been on the phone with the Kenyan.

[…]

One more dead crook.

[…]

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Say hello to Vladimir Ulyanov when you get to hell. Now let’s see who that fat RINO governor appoints to serve out his term. I’m sure it’ll be somebody amenable to his good buddy Barry. That POS was the poster boy for the need to TERM LIMITS!!!

[…]

One lout down,>400 to go…

[…]

I wonder what Christie will get from his butt buddy Obama for appointing a senator friendly to the regime? Funny how well timed their date was last week.

[…]

It is too bad that death seems the only cure for Liberalism.

[…]

The occupancy level in H*ll just increased by 1.

[…]

Good. Now take the rest of DC and the White House with you, Frankie Boy, straight to the Gates of Hell.

[…]

Now he’s a GOOD liberal.

[…]

The American Flag at my home will fly at full staff - may he Rot in HE!!

[…]

Satan got one his own back today….

[…]

He was very pro abortion. This means that man had NO compassion for human life. May he rot in hell with his buddy Ted Kennedy.

[…]

Good riddance and enjoy burning in h*ll…

[…]

I’m glad he is dead! I will always celebrate
when the traitors expire.

On and on it goes. One person, revolted by this display of ugliness, comments:

Reading through the comments here just reinforces everything I believe about the type of people that come to this website for news. If I worked from breitbart.com I would quit. Who in his right mind wants to serve customers like this.

Indeed.

And yet they got their panties bunched up when people dared to say that Margaret Thatcher wasn’t a saint. I’ve got no problem with people who will criticize the stances of the late Senator but people who are engaging in hell damnation and saying that death is the only cure of liberalism can go fuck themselves.

There’s lots of weird shit in there. Like this:

He was very pro abortion. This means that man had NO compassion for human life. May he rot in hell with his buddy Ted Kennedy.

It’s trivially demonstrable that people who are pro-choice have compassion for human life. Believing otherwise is really voluntary fantasy.

Listen, and understand. Those Republicans are out there. They can’t be bargained with. They can’t be reasoned with. They don’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And they absolutely will not stop, ever, until they have no political opposition.

Hell in my observations of pro-choice people, they have demonstratively more compassion for human life. Teddy and Senator Lautenberg while they were both wealthy men were huge champions of the less well off.

These must be more of those “errant voices” that the College Republicans are complaining about.

One of the sad things is that if Christie was a Democrat and Lautenberg was a Republican, they’d be howling if Christie appointed a Democrat to fill the seat.
Can’t you just HEAR the hypothetical yammering?

It’s a REPUBLICAN seat!!11!!! outrage!!11!!

Better yet. Think back now to how they were acting and making all kinds of demands of “respect” for when their [deleted] founder died, Andrew Breitbart. But yeah. Being a “conservative” today is about “principles.” Right?

i kid you not but when Souter retired, I saw one nutjob howling that Souter was doing something unethical because he resigned under a different party than that of the president that appointed him.

Of course. Seriously, I don’t want to hear lectures from conservatives about “respect” for the dead when they engage in this shit. I still remember the gleeful behavior that I saw when Ted Kennedy died. I’ve got no problem with criticizing the recently deceased but I have a big problem with those who engage in hell damnation and gleeful joy.

A Congresswoman retiring is the same as a senator dying? Okaaaaaaaaaaay. Especially considering that many on the left were sad to see Bachmann leave since that seat will likely stay Republican now.

The thing about the criticisms of Thatcher is that they were made while she was alive, too. She got called “The Milksnatcher” while she was Prime Minister, for fuck’s sake. She was an incredibly divisive figure who was hated by those who hated her for actual, real actions.

Lautenberg is disliked for fantasies, not realities.

The other thing is there are people calling Lautenberg a traitor. Yes, the last sitting US senator to serve in WWII was a traitor. And he also was a living example of why this country is great. He grew up poor but put himself through school and became successful.

When Bush the Elder dies— and hopefully he has comfortable years left— it’ll be a test, since the man himself was pretty decent and he did the right thing and failed re-election partially because of it. But he hired Lee Atwater, one of the most racist, bigoted, awful influences on the US political system that ever was.

I feel mixed about him too for those same reasons. I definitely do think he’s proven himself to be like a fine wine and gotten better as he’s aged. One thing I won’t do is say I am glad he’s dead. I wasn’t glad to see Thatcher go but like her, I won’t re-frame from pointing out Bush the Elder’s negatives but also positives too.

Ah you can tell but I do agree with Obdi that most girls and kids would find such a thing funny. When I was out pub hopping when I was in Kerry one night, there was a Hen party accompanied by an obvious dude in drag. I was showing my photos from my trip to the fam and my then 8 year old brother thought it was hilarious. But really this is a one in a million type thing. And whatever happened to the right wing belief that businesses should be able to do whatever they want to. If this business wants to allow transvestites to use the opposite gender’s bathroom, shouldn’t that be okay?

Larry Pratt Presents ‘Nullifier of the Year’ Award to Sheriff Who Warned of Gun Control ‘Bloodbath’

Gun Owners of America director Larry Pratt is a big fan of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, a group of Tenther county sheriffs who have declared that they answer directly to the Constitution (or their interpretation of it), rather than to the federal government. Unsurprisingly, the organization and the movement it represents, has grown substantially during the presidency of Barack Obama.

Pratt often praises the Constitutional Sheriffs in his speeches, and was a guest of honor at their annual convention last week, where he presented the “High Noon Award” to the Milwaukee County Sheriff who took out an ad urging people to arm themselves rather than calling 911. Pratt also presented the “Nullifier of the Year” award to Sheriff Denny Peyman of Jackson County, Kentucky, who has announced that he will not enforce federal gun laws in his county, warning that there would be a “bloodbath in our community when they come in to take guns.”

Pratt himself summed up the gist of the Constitutional Sheriffs movement when he told WND:

There is a misconception in our time that the court somehow is the arbiter of what is constitutional; that’s not true! Every official that raises their right hand and says they’re going to adhere to the constitution, seek to protect it to the best of their ability, ‘so help me God’ - that’s something that they’re all obligated to do.

Minnesota pro-marriage equality church vandalized with religious hate speech

Members arrived at the Pilgrims United Church of Christ in Maple Grove on Sunday to find homophobic graffiti and eggs thrown at the building’s walls.

Video of the vandalism filmed by KARE shows the words “church of Soddom and Gomorrah” and references to a Bible verse, Leviticus 18:22, which says that gay sex is an “abomination.”

“We are a very liberal progressive voice in Maple Grove,” Pastor Robin Raudabaugh told KARE. “And so I think that’s when people do things like that, when they’re fearful of maintaining their own position… This was a very hate-filled act.”

Raudabaugh said that the vandalism was a “step up” from last year when signs opposing a constitutional ban on same sex marriage were stolen and similar anti-LGBT Bible verses were scrawled on the church.

“And so my thought was, ‘Wow, we’re actually getting that message across, and someone doesn’t like it,’” she observed.

As I recall, all of their kids were taken away after the Happy Birthday Adolph cake incident a while back.

I see that. I also noticed this in the article:

The other children — 7-year-old Adolf Hitler Campbell, 6-year-old JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and 5-year-old Honzlynn Jeannie Campbell — were taken from the couple’s custody in January 2009, a month after the couple got into a disagreement with a local bakery when it refused to write Adolf Hiler Campbell’s name on a birthday cake.

83 Kragar  Mon, Jun 3, 2013 11:02:37am

Apparently the mother has split from the father, has cut ties with the nazi group, but has given up her custody rights. This was just the father trying to get them back from the state on his own.

oh, good freakin grief…

New Jersey dad wears Nazi uniform in court during custody hearing

Oh this is that crazy family that named their kid “Adolf Hitler Campbell” and then lost custody after the bakery reported their order for a birthday cake.

Please take their kids and adopt them to a nice, interracial, gay couple.

The mom is just as bad. The kids were given names of prominent Nazis:

The other children — 7-year-old Adolf Hitler Campbell, 6-year-old JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and 5-year-old Honzlynn Jeannie Campbell — were taken from the couple’s custody in January 2009, a month after the couple got into a disagreement with a local bakery when it refused to write Adolf Hiler Campbell’s name on a birthday cake.

From Scalia’s dissent: “Perhaps the construction of such a genetic panopticon is wise. But I doubt that the proud men who wrote the charter of our liberties would have been so eager to open their mouths for royal inspection…The court’s assertion that DNA is being taken, not to solve crimes, but to identify those in the state’s custody taxes the credulity of the credulous…Solving unsolved crimes is a noble objective but it occupies a lower place in the American pantheon of noble objectives than the protection of our people from suspicionless law-enforcement searches.”

GOP Survey Of Young People Reveals They Support Progressive Policies

The College Republican National Committee released a report on Monday outlining the major challenges facing the GOP as it seeks to rebrand and redefine itself in the aftermath of the 2012 election. The survey criticizes the party’s singular focus on “big government” and “tax cuts” and calls on Republicans to become more tolerant and open on issues like same-sex marriage and women’s reproductive health.

But a close reading of the 90-page report finds that young people have strong disagreements with Republican policies — including large parts of former candidate’s Mitt Romney’s platform — and are far more likely to support progressive positions.

How is that rebranding working out for you?

It’s not surprising. Even younger people more inclined to agree with more right wing economics cannot stand by and large the GOP’s social conservatism.

Outrageous outrage!

The Pentagon Most Certainly is Listening to Mikey Weinstein

For an undetermined number of years, adorning a wall in the Wagon Wheel dining hall at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho was an inspirational piece of artwork proclaiming the message of Matthew 5:9 — “Blessed are the peacemakers” — because nothing says “peacemaker” like the image of the medieval crusader that this message accompanied. The artwork was also emblazoned with the word “integrity,” because nothing, of course, says “integrity” like an overt display of Christian nationalism…

While many other airmen eating in this dining facility over the years have no doubt been offended by this depiction of Christian supremacy, none were willing to face the predictable retribution that would likely follow if they objected to it and tried to get it removed — until now, that is.

This morning, MRFF was contacted by a non-commissioned officer (NCO) from this Air Force Base, who was acting as the spokesperson for a group of twenty-two airmen who wanted this repugnant piece of artwork removed. Were these airmen a bunch of militant atheists who seek to rid the military of all vestiges of religion? Well, no. Seventeen of the twenty-two are Christians, both Catholic and Protestant…

re: #60 HappyWarrior

I saw that posted earlier. Quite an unusual line up. You had Alito, Thomas, Kennedy, Breyer, and Roberts for the majority and Ginsberg, Kagan, Sotomayor, and Scalia dissenting. I wonder if that’s ever happened in this court.

Volokh (Prof. Kerr specifically) commented on the decision earlier… apparently Scalia and Breyer routinely take opposite sides on Fourth Amendment issues depending on which arguments the defense chooses to use.

Yeah given how some guys are when it comes to this sort of thing, absolutely. I don’t think I’ve ever read a story about a transvestite or transsexual forcing his or her way on a child. It’s as you point out Erickson and the other dude projecting their phobia on to a little girl.

I seriously don’t have a problem with my daughters using the restroom with a transgender or transvestite in there.

I probably do more of the housework in or home as well, but my job is far less demanding than my wife’s is…though we did hire a house-cleaner a few weeks ago and she comes in and does a full scrub for us now once a week…and maintaining a clean house is much much easier.

Mine are 8 and 6 now. They go together. I’m not worried. When my eldest was 5, they didn’t go alone, mostly because I didn’t want them playing in the bathroom, plus they couldn’t reach the faucet.

I haven’t bought a Swiffer refill in years. I use cheap washcloths for wet mopping and double layers of paper towels for dry mopping. The actual Swiffer dry cloths are machine washable and dryable too. I’ve spent money on the actual mop itself and maybe a box of the offbrand refills in the last 8-10 yrs. Fucking with Rosie the Riveter is bullshit, so the hell with them.

And here I thought Tapper had maybe turned over a new leaf with his move to CNN. Keep in mind David Plouffe left the administration in early January and now works as a commentator/contributor for Bloomberg TV. Yesterday, Plouffe tweeted out this in response to Issa’s Sunday show appearance:

Politico & Mediaite, not exactly models of journalistic excellence, reported on the spat correctly:

mediaite.com

Tensions continue to rise following Rep. Darrell Issa’s (R-CA) fierce criticism of the Obama administration’s handling of, and potential involvement in, the IRS scandal. He was particularly harsh toward White House press secretary and “paid liar” Jay Carney. Former top White House adviser David Plouffe fired back via Twitter — calling out “Mr. Grand Theft Auto.”

politico.com

Former White House senior adviser David Plouffe took to Twitter to question Rep. Darrell Issa’s ethics after the California Republican trashed press secretary Jay Carney.

And then here’s Tapper:

politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com

An unusually harsh and personal war of words erupted on Sunday, even for the current hyper-partisan atmosphere in Washington, DC, with one of President Obama’s top advisers bringing up the 40-year-old criminal record of the Republican congressman leading the investigation into alleged IRS abuses.

It’s hard to believe he didn’t screw that up intentionally.

Tougher chemical reporting legislation
Sen. Lautenberg has repeatedly introduced the Safe Chemicals Act. In July 2012, this bill was approved by the Environment and Public Works Committee of the U.S. Senate.[1] Safer Chemicals Healthy Families, a non-profit organization that advocates for chemical regulation reform, says the bill “would put common sense limits on toxic chemicals.”[2]

Chemical security legislation
On March 30, 2006, Lautenberg introduced the Chemical Security and Safety Act (S.2486). The bill would have required the following [3]:

-That IST (inherent safer technology) be used whenever possible (President Bush had been strongly opposed to the idea).
-That state authority be protected in instances where the state had adopted stronger protections than federal law.
-That site security at chemical plants be improved to the maximum extent possible.
-That workers be guaranteed a role in ensuring the security and safety of facilities.
-That strong protections for whistleblowers be implemented.[4] [5]
