Life With Gohmert! Gov. Christie’s ‘Bromance’ With Obama

That wacky Gohmert says the darnedest things!

It’s Gohmert time!

That Republican Texas Congressmoron is trying hard for the executive spot in the loony Tea Party caucus (now that Michele Bachmann has, uh, retired), and here’s another zany episode of Life With Gohmert, as Louie unleashes his strange smarmy wrath on New Jersey Governor Chris Christie!

“Think about it, if he had just up and appointed a Republican replacement as he’s authorized to do, do you think the bromance will continue? Do you think the President will come let him win little toys for him and stuffed animals for him down at the fair?” Gohmert joked, “Do you think he would ever get another hug out on the beach from the President?”

Mr. Gohmert are you a U.S Congressman or just another cheap Rush Limbaugh clone? Do your fucking job and let Christie do his. Maybe Christie likes working with Obama because he knows Obama actually cares about the damage his state suffered and fuckwads like you could care less because you think blue states deserve to suffer.

GOP rebranding continues apace.

3 Targetpractice  Wed, Jun 5, 2013 1:32:43pm

It just utterly eats at them that the keynote speaker for their last convention is the guy who, months later, had no problem being seen in public with a Dem president and has thanked him for the help that has been provided to get NJ back on its feet after a major hurricane.

Like I said downstairs, nothing would warm my little black heart more than for Christie to put another thumb in the Tea Party’s eye by appointing Cory Booker to the seat.

It just kills Louie that Christie may actually believe in the Country First slogan that McCain had five years ago. Louie believes not even in party first but ideology first.

I want Christie to nominate a Democrat just so I can watch all of his future press conferences. Watching him steamroll the Breitbarts and RWNJs who try to bitch at him for it would be hilarious.

A Prince William County man says he was suspected by Walmart security of possibly kidnapping his three young daughters — all because they aren’t the same race.

“He asks us very sincerely, ‘Hey, I was sent here by Walmart security. I just need to make sure that the children that you have are your own,’” Joseph says.

“I was dumbfounded,” says Keana. “I sat there for a minute and I thought, ‘Did he just ask us if these were our kids knowing what we went through to have our children?’

“He took my ID and asked my 4-year-old to point out who her mother and father were.”

Joseph says the officer told them a Walmart security guard reported seeing him in the parking lot with the girls and thought it was strange.

I’m expecting fireworks next weekend. My self righteous grandmother who has become a Jesus freak in her dotage is coming into town for the memorial and I can already tell she’ll be complaining like everything that happened is supposed to revolve around her.

In the month since my Dad died, the number of times she’s called my mom to see how she is doing? Zero. She had my uncle call to say when she’ll be in town and told my mom to have a room ready. My mom told her she’ll need to make other arrangements.

Thanks CL.. It was real bad in these parts..Moore is the next town over.. A lot of us have gone there to look at the massive destruction..So sad to see it and the lives effected..We drove by Toby Keith’s ranch on the way back. There was this big field off the road and there in the middle of it was a trashed car like it was dropped from heaven..if it wasn’t so sad it would be funny..Imagine telling the insurance company that your car might be on Toby Keith’s property.
BTW. Our Company sent a Semi full of water and clothes and supplies..
They turned it away..There is simply no more room for more supplies right now..
They have enough water for the next 3 years.. Thank you America!

In a fit of irony, the schedule that Christie has set up would actually benefit the GOP in any other case. Whoever he appoints is going to either have to have VERY deep pockets or access to a bunch of rich donors, since they’d have to run a primary and an election this year, then immediately run for re-election in 2014.

From their reaction, you’d think the GOP can’t find a rich Republican in New Jersey.

22 Maps That Show How Americans Speak English Totally Differently From Each Other

Everyone knows that Americans don’t exactly agree on pronunciations.

Regional accents are a major part of what makes American English so interesting as a dialect.

Joshua Katz, a Ph. D student in statistics at North Carolina State University, just published a group of awesome visualizations of Professor Bert Voux’s linguistic survey that looked at how Americans pronounce words.

His results were first published on Abstract, the N.C. State research blog.
Joshua gave us permission to publish some of the coolest maps from his collection.

re: #145 CuriousLurker

It would be sooooo much fun if he did. Can you imagine?

Look, Christie knows that Booker’s lined up for the Senate - and they actually do get along. If he selected him, it sets Christie up nicely for a run as an alternative to the wingnut wing GOP.

But Christie also knows that does him no favor in the GOP primaries where being a wingnut is a plus - not a negative, so it’d harm him more than help.

I’ve heard some rumblings he might pick his Lt. Gov. as the stopgap, and Booker would likely run early for the primary (and likely against Pallone). Booker would win the Democratic primary, and would likely win the special - and the general in 2014. It also means that Booker and Democrats would have to dig deeper into his campaign funds, while Christie sails through easier.

159 funky chicken  Wed, Jun 5, 2013 3:42:06pm

re: #158 lawhawk

I was hoping he’d appoint Christie Todd Whitman, but that would have enraged the wingnuts almost as much as Booker. I have to admit I’m confused to see right wingers bitching about a special election. It kinda proves they know they can’t win elections with educated voters.

Yeah, that was one of the first things I learned on my several trips to Atlanta. “Coke” is a thing there, no matter what brand you’re actually buying. Around here, “soda” and “pop” are mostly interchangeable, though I believe “pop” is preferred.

They would have asked bin Laden his opinion, but he seems to be unavailable. Perhaps Rummy can ask him when they meet up in Hell.

Rumsfeld was a senile and utterly inept tyrant as Sec-def. Thousands of soliders, thousands, were killed because of the unconscionable delays in deploying Mine Resistant Ambush Protection (MRAP) vehicles to Iraq. We had one while I was there as a contractor in 2006, imported from South Africa (where they had built since the 70s) and paid for by my employers. We used to give GIs rides whenever we had enough room, and there was always a line. As a veteran, I was outraged that serving soldiers had to hitch rides with a civilian because they thought his vehicle was better suited to combat than theirs. The MRAPs started appearing in military service in substantial numbers only toward the end of the year. I suspect the delay was because they didn’t fit with the long term profit growth plans of the military industrial complex, which always sees more potential in improbable total war scenarios.

I’m from SE Ohio. It was crick, for creek. Pop for any carbonated drink. Grandma always said warsh, for wash(and then tell us not to giggle or she’d make us go pull weeds in the garden-we moved to Columbus,OH when I was headed into kindergarten,so we lost some of that Appalachian accent growing up). I’m sure there are others I’ve forgotten since transplanting myself in Atlanta back around 1985. It’s interesting how we’ve developed all these little quirks and differences in different places over the years.

If you can find some of the old WPA Writer’s Project books about the different states, they are fascinating looks into the different cultural differences from place to place. There was one for each of the states in the union at the time, but they are expensive and difficult to find. Some states had them reprinted in the last 20 yrs or so. America Eats (the author escapes me at the moment) is a summary of those books, a sometimes not so flattering but interesting look at food, language and traditions.

There’s an older book that makes the rounds up here, “How to Talk Minnesotan”. My then-girlfriend’s father lent it to me back when she and I were getting serious. Absolutely enlightening when it comes to understanding the unique culture of the wild north country.

I love that kind of stuff. I also forgot far, for fire and tar, for tire. It’s funny, when we moved from the “country” into the suburbs of Columbus, no one talked like that and it was only maybe an hour and a half drive away from the Hocking Hills area where my parents were born and raised. More diversity in the urban and suburban areas I guess. My best friend in elementary school was Italian, her parents were immigrants and they brought the paternal grandma here with them. I loved them, they were loud, and spoke both languages interchangeably. I loved going to their house, it was way different than my super conservative straight laced wingnut family.

That didn’t take long. First named tropical storm of the season in the Gulf - Andrea. Wont be much of a problem for most - just barely qualifying as a tropical storm, and will weaken as it comes ashore. But enough tropical moisture to make for a wet weekend in the Middle Atlantic according to the consensus of the various models.

Oh, and we’d have an even better grip on the science and predictions for where/how the storm will behave if we actually spent more money on the computer programs and hardware that the NHC and NSSL and GDFL and other NOAA agencies need to make better models of the climate and weather.

Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif urges end to US drone strikes

“We respect the sovereignty of others and they should respect our sovereignty and independence. This campaign must come to an end,” he told MPs.

That is rich, considering the Taliban is based now in Pakistan, has had Pakistani aid for 15+ years, and refuses to do jack about Al-Qaeda or the Taliban.

Want us to stop the Drones? Start dealing with the violent fanatics in a meaningful way. Oh right, Nawaz Sharif likes these scum.

It wasn’t until I was going to college in Pittsburgh and had the “How to speak Pittsburgh-ese” book that I realized that my father said “slippy” for “slippery”. And I had been hearing him say it that way for 15+ years without it registering as such.

My travels this past weekend were sort of interesting since my accent is essentially that of most of New York State north and west of Albany. I fit in there. ;)

For the RW death-cultists, life only counts between conception and birth. After birth, its all death, all the time.

P.S. The only reason they pretend to care about the life of the fetus is because forced pregnancy can kill or injure women.

I can just imagine some drunk college kids doing this in their dorm room (making a grilled cheese sammich in a toaster laid on its side)

The best you can hope for is they forget to plug it in.

Buy a toaster oven. Trust me. You can cook a lot more than a sandwich in one. Would have to think back a bit. But made many a meal made while living in the barracks. A single burner element doesn’t hurt.

Both forbidden as a health/fire hazard. But overlooked as I kept both clean (as well as the impliments) and the roommate never complained.

He just ate it.

There’s a lot of latent misanthropy with these people.

How can you really believe in a concept like freedom, and hate your fellow man so much?

Oh wait, freedom is only a micrometer thick facade for a rather authoritarian ideology that excludes large chunks of the population that these people feel don’t deserve their version of freedom.

Its all becoming clear to me.
