Gitchy, gitchy
Ooh la la
Da doo ron ron
You wont get far

I’m machine
I’m obsolete
In the land of the free
Lobotomy

I wanna suck, I wanna lick
I want to cry and I want to spit
Tears of pleasure
Tears of pain
They trickle down your face the same

It’s how you look
Not how you feel
A city of glass
With no heart

If I had a tail
I’d own the night
If I had a tail
I’d swat the flies

Yeah, oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
Yeah, oh oh, oh oh, oh oh

Gitchy, gitchy
Ooh la la
Da doo ron ron
You won’t get far

Animals in
the midnight zone
When you own the world
You’re always home

Get your hands dirty
Roll up them sleeves
Brainwashed or true believers?
Buy flash cars
Diamond rings
Expensive holes to bury things

I’m machine
I’m obsolete
In the land of the free
Immortality

If I had a tail
I’d own the night
If I had a tail
I’d swat the flies

Oh-oh-oh, oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh oh, oh oh, oh oh

See me dancing on the stars
See me dance

If I have a tail
I will control the night
If I have a tail
I will control the night
If I have a tail
I will control the night

When we have a tail
We will control

I always think “that song was written for Donald Trump - or maybe it would be more extreme if it were”

I think I’ll do a diary on that Hayes / Greenwald interview. That rush transcript from msnbc was actually missing a few important bits and so I’ve watched the video and transcribed it properly. Is it possible to embed the msnbc video into a diary?

Yes, just paste in the URL of the video’s web page - here’s that one:

Well, plans are afoot to relocate from San Diego to Los Angeles. Actively searching for a new job now.

Oops, it got auto-embedded! That’s not what I wanted. Here’s that URL:

I’m to tired too do much more with it, though I think it’s in a good state. If you feel like making any changes feel free.

‘Oh, for f*ck’s sake!’ John Oliver lampoons media’s coverage of Edward Snowden

The Daily Show host John Oliver on Wednesday night mocked the media’s shallow and tabloid-esque coverage of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. Rather than discuss the legal and ethical ramifications of leaking classified information, many outlets decided to zero in on trite personal information, such as Snowden’s educational history. The media also took an interest in Snowden’s pole-dancing bohemian girlfriend, causing Oliver to reluctantly remark, “I’d never thought I’d hear myself say this, but I am not interested in any pole-dancing YouTube channels right now.”

Queens of the Stone Age

i’m fond of the music of the last century

this tune is an excellent example of a style that dates to the early 1970’s - so it was fashionable about 40 years ago

16 Targetpractice  Wed, Jun 12, 2013 10:05:59pm

Apparently presales for the PS4 are going faster and rated higher than the XBone on sites like Amazon. Get a feeling that, come this time next year, Microsoft will be presenting a “lite” version at E3 that discards the Kinect.

17 engineer cat  Wed, Jun 12, 2013 10:08:59pm

if i had been listening to music in a style that dated to 40 years previously in the early 1970s, it would have had to have dated to the early 1930s - which would place it a few years shy of benny goodman’s big breakthrough

Ah, but Duke Ellington’s early masterpieces from the 20’s in Harlem would still be available and, good as Bennie was, the Duke was, simply, the best Jazz composer ever. Only Louie came close with his Hot Fives & Hot Sevens.

The early stuff has been so badly forgotten. I dearly love the stuff I’ve found from the 20’s especially. Crappy recordings (thanks to the tech) but the energy and joy in the music itself? Probably the best since that gold age of Bach to Beethoven in central Europe.

Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer, CEO of Hammer Industries and a former competitor of Stark’s for various DoD contracts.

Iron Man movie stuff then I suppose? I refuse to watch the Iron Man series because I have serious issues with that asshat Downey. Not really 100% sure why, but I just can’t forgive that shitbird and refuse to watch anything he’s in (even though I’m sure I’d enjoy it, I have so far not seen the recent Avenger’s movie due to him. If I heard Capt. America bitch slapped him into next year, I might consider it though… ;)

I’m just seeing this now and, yeah, I’m pretty much done with Microsoft:

Youtube Video

You got a Microsoft exec who first says that all the crap jammed into the XBone is because they wanted to “future-proof” it (yeah, ask Sony how well that worked with the PS3), then adds insult to injury by saying that if you don’t have internet, there’s a system for you: The XBox 360. And Microsoft actually paid SpikeTV not to air this clip, but it still got aired by mistake.

33 Christopher's Bitchins  Wed, Jun 12, 2013 11:28:05pm

“Federal agents on Tuesday raided 103 marijuana stores in Los Angeles County”

Link

God dammit, every time I think we are making progress it’s just more of the same shit. And it’s not conservatives making these decisions, it’s the Holder DOJ. Ya know I’m no teabagger but can’t the Feds back the fuck up just a little bit? They are using asset forfeiture in these cases as well, another thing that has been abused by the Feds. It’s all very tiresome.

That’s not just a random executive. Don Mattrick is the President of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. He’s the guy that’s basically in charge of the whole XBox division of the company.

Saying that was TOTAL fail on his part. I know they got blown out of the water during Sony’s E3 conference, but that’s no reason to be a dick.

Yeah, I’m not sure how much more tone-deaf they could be. Always-on system, DRM a must, Kinect required, and oh by the way, if you’re one of those peasants that can’t afford a broadband connection, just buy a 360.

I’m not sure one could imagine a more spectacular self-destruction than this.

Was reading that the MS one and PS4 consoles will be the last generation of game consoles. It will be a thing of the past. All things will stream to players from the cloud. Buying CD’s at Gamestop will pass away… Storage will be in the Clouds..Gaming will be changing more to a Netflicks on-line on-demand delivery model…Technology kicks ass..I remember playing a Atari 2600. I spent,It felt like, a million dollars in quarters playing games..Yes..I had the typical 80’s hair. So much fun and now just quaint memories.

Gaming and console technology has evolved and advanced so much..These upstart kiddies today have no idea of the excitement of playing Doom back then..It was awesome…You know even running over granny crossing the street in Grand Theft Auto 4 on a 73” High Def Flat screen doesn’t compare to using my BFG in Doom blowing shit up back in the day..Aaahhh. ‘God Mode’ was a genius idea for death and destruction to all men or monsters standing before me..

I am refraining from commenting on the MSft mess because the deal with the husband’s job isn’t closed yet. Take from that what you will.

The Death Valley Racetrack article linked downstairs was really awesome and I adore it. Getting back out there (and to the Saline Valley) is high on the list of things for me (hubs has been to the Saline Valley but that predates me). Especially now that I have the good camera.

Guild Wars 2 is a hell of a lot better than I would have expected. Too bad family arrives tomorrow.

That model will have latency problems in many places.

It might have latency problems even in GOOD circumstances.

So, no, I don’t buy it.
Processing power gets closer to being free all the time, so the idea that we have to let our processing be done OUTSIDE doesn’t become more necessary, it becomes LESS necessary with time.

Agreed, the whole cloud model relies upon a strong broadband network, something that America just does not have. Hell, in most parts of the country, DSL is still the fastest access you’ll find. If your business model is based around a reliance on broadband access for everything from game distribution to app usage, then you’re locking out a big chunk of your consumer base.

Sorry Japan, South Korea, Singapore, you guys don’t play games.

Yeah, Microsoft yesterday declares “Oh yeah, we won’t be releasing to Asia until late next year, and Japan’s release date is up in the air.”

It’s like somebody declared there was no way they could so badly sink their new system that it would rival the Atari Jaguar and they declared “Challenge Accepted!”

45 Lidane  Thu, Jun 13, 2013 4:47:31am

re: #44 Targetpractice

To be fair, they’ve been getting beaten like a red-headed stepchild in Japan and Asia for ages. Sony’s got a firm stranglehold on that part of the world and they’re not going to lose that advantage anytime soon.

Waiting for a while before releasing a new console there makes sense, since their sales wouldn’t be anywhere close to the launch of the PS4 anyway.
