You can bet that this time around, they’ll have measures in place to prevent another uprising of the citizenry of Texas against their American Taliban agenda.

Tis a lesson you should heed:
Try, try, try again.
If at first you don’t succeed,
Try, try, try again.

Though it may make the Rinsed One cringe, it is beginning to look like the 2014 election will be dominated by social agendas.

Or, in Perry’s case, “Try, Try, and…uh…what’s the third one?”

He who would be President. Decorum. Nice choice of words to beat someone up with. Who would have been his running mate? Mumbles? Raging jerkoff.

They’ll probably close the gallery.

America’s longest tenured governor in action. What a crock of shit.

7 darthstar  Wed, Jun 26, 2013 2:48:57pm

This will be a closed-door session, most definitely.

Rick Perry is a fucking asshole.

They’ll probably close the gallery.

Close the gallery, hold the vote behind closed doors, disallow cameras, bring in state troopers and SWAT teams to keep any protesters at bay… they will do it all.

The Texas GOP learned last night that there are people in this state who will fight for their rights. They won’t let that happen again.

Unborn Texans must be allowed to come out to be killed in fertilizer explosions.

So what can the Fightin’ Wendy Davis brigade do this time to fight this lunacy off? Any legal and/or Texas experts want to weight in?

Gov. Perry: “We will not allow the breakdown of decorum and decency our demonstrated incompetence and bullheadedness to prevent us from doing what the people of this state hired us to do.”

Another downside of Prop 8 - gay guys will have to be more careful using, “I’d marry you if it was legal” as a pick-up line.

She is. I hope she’s considered for a run for higher office. You got to hope that her actions last night got candidate recruiters interested.

But in other news, the market for gay divorce attorneys will be booming.

Belongs downstairs, but these two issues are part of the same package:

Alabama Republican Party Chairman Bill Armistead blasts DOMA ruling

Alabama Republican Party Chairman Bill Armistead issued a statement today in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act.

“I am disappointed to learn that SCOTUS has struck down DOMA and will now require that federal benefits be extended to homosexual couples,” Armistead said in the statement. “This is an affront to the Christian principles that this nation was founded on. […]

Armistead said taxpayers should not be forced to reward “those who choose to engage in activity that had been banned in 35 states.”

“This is a nation founded on Christian values and the Bible is very clear on marriage - one man and one woman,” Armistead said. […]

Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard, R-Auburn, R-Auburn, also issued a statement this morning on the DOMA ruling, as well as the ruling on California’s Proposition 8.

[…] “As long as I am Speaker of the House, I will continue working to ensure that the laws on our books reflect the conservative principles and moral beliefs that the majority of Alabamians embrace.”

Just how exactly is this different than imposing “Shariah”?

Completely different because shut up.

The Texas GOP loves the unborn.

Once they’re born, they’ll tell them they can fuck off and die, but as long as they’re unborn, their cool.

Because it’s Christianity. Biblically opposed law is good. Acknowledging that Muslims have religious liberty too is shariah. Deal with it Bill though. I hope one of your relatives turns out to be gay so you can see how happy they are when they can marry without fear of persecution.

Well, Texas Dem Senators have been known to flee to us in Oklahoma when they don’t want them to hold a quorum.

Daily Kos has a PPP poll for the Texas race between Gov Goodhair and Wendy Davis contest and it was pretty close before the night of the great Filibuster. In fact their getting all excited about backing her. Since they think she will probably be gerrymandered out of a job.

33 Patricia Kayden  Wed, Jun 26, 2013 3:06:05pm

Pretty sure that Ms. Davis can’t endure another filibuster. Hopefully another Dem will step up to the plate.

If there’s anything the bible isn’t clear on, it’s that. Maybe bible-humpers ought to actually read the thing.

35 Ming  Wed, Jun 26, 2013 4:24:14pm

Governor Perry refers to the filibuster by Democrats as “the breakdown of decorum and decency”. This is really something, considering that in the US Senate, Republican filibusters are pretty routine by now.
