Greenwald: Edward Snowden Has the NSA’s Blueprints

But he really doesn’t want to hurt the US, unless he’s forced to
US News • Views: 26,167

Tonight, Glenn Greenwald tells the Associated Press that Edward Snowden has “blueprints” that detail exactly “how the NSA is built.”

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Edward Snowden has very sensitive “blueprints” detailing how the National Security Agency operates that would allow someone who read them to evade or even duplicate NSA surveillance, a journalist close to the intelligence leaker said Sunday.

Glenn Greenwald, a columnist with The Guardian newspaper who closely communicates with Snowden and first reported on his intelligence leaks, told The Associated Press that the former NSA systems analyst has “literally thousands of documents” that constitute “basically the instruction manual for how the NSA is built.”

“In order to take documents with him that proved that what he was saying was true he had to take ones that included very sensitive, detailed blueprints of how the NSA does what they do,” Greenwald said in the interview in Brazil, where he lives. He said the interview took place about four hours after his last interaction with Snowden, with whom he said he’s in almost daily contact.

If that’s true, it seems to me that this traitorous little prick is looking to sell to the highest bidder.
Meh, I won’t DRONE on and on about this…

As someone who had a TS/SCI clearance in the USAF, and worked for a unit tasked according to NSA priorities…I’m calling bullshit. Aside from the basic primer in how the organizational chain functions, there is no way, no how, Snowden knows as much as Greenwald’s boasting. A latter-day Walter Mitty.

The target area is only two meters wide. It’s a small thermal exhaust port, right below the main port. The shaft leads directly to the reactor system. A precise hit will start a chain reaction which should destroy the station. Only a precise hit will set off a chain reaction. The shaft is ray-shielded, so you’ll have to use proton torpedoes.

You mean a low level office schlub might not have had access to the NSA thermal exhaust port files?

Snowden getting desperate for a new home or feels he needs something that can protect him? Greenwald, nothing new, still being a weasel.

“Edward Snowden has ‘blueprints’ that detail exactly ‘how the NSA is built.’ “

Am I the only one who, on reading this line, had a “Holy Shit!” moment? It made me think of Bob Hanssen giving the Presidential “bunker” to the Russians.

And we know what happened to Hanssen.

Seriously, if Snowden pulls this shit, I have no problem making him ol’ Bobby’s Supermax bunkmate.

I wonder what’s going on with Glennbo and Snowden. Presumably the NSA is monitoring their communication. I wonder if they’re hoping somebody in the government will make a mistake and try to do something pre-emptive.

39 SteveMcGazi  Sun, Jul 14, 2013 8:36:03pm

Also, how would anybody know that the secret plans are legit? It almost seems as if Snowden would settle forasylum in somewhere like Yemen.

41 ProTARDISLiberal  Sun, Jul 14, 2013 8:40:35pm

I was thinking about something Obdicut said in the last thread about missing a lesson from the The Idiot’s Lantern.

I just had this thought, and wanted to write it out. There was another lesson that episode. Kicking those away who are toxic. That dimwit in the episode was an emotionally abusive idiot who tried to force those in his family and those in the neighborhood to live as what he saw “right.” Despite being as wrong as you can be, and backwards to boot. Because of his toxic treatment of others, his wife eventually kicked him out to create a better environment. This is what I am doing. If he has no influence on me, than I will be a better person.

Granted, I did lose my job this week (came in under sales quota.) But the job was beyond stressful, I feel better, and now I have nothing tying me to Colorado Springs. Time to push so hard to get a job in Denver and move.

42 SteveMcGazi  Sun, Jul 14, 2013 8:41:48pm

I’m pretty sure that this is beyond “journalism” but Glennbo doesn’t know it yet. Snowden’s using him for something. In my younger daysi would have figured it out by now.

In January, I got a call from my kids’ school. I had to get there as soon as possible because my 9 year old was found to have a 9mm bullet in his backpack.

I rush off, and when I get there, my son, my baby, is sitting in a room with a police officer, while the principal writes up hearing papers to the board of education, with a recommendation for expulsion. W.T.F.?

Long story short, it turns out that another little boy, who had inserted himself into my son’s little group had easy access to his dad’s guns and bullets. If I recall correctly, they were just sitting on a shelf in the basement. The boy told my son that he was gonna take out the gunpowder and blow up the school. My son and his friends, instead of telling an adult, tried to hide the bullets so nothing bad would happen.

We worked it out in the end, and my son missed five days of school, but here’s the kicker:
The mother of the kid who brought the bullets from home kept calling the principal trying to blame my son, the only black kid in the group, for bringing the bullets.

A coincidence, maybe, but judging the malice in her eyes, directed at my baby during the hearing (that is until i caught her eye ),I don’t think so.

Sorry for the long post. Also, I still kinda want to fuck her up.

58 darthstar  Sun, Jul 14, 2013 8:56:29pm

Is this Greenwald saying, “On your knees, America” again, only to deny it later when he realizes everyone including his mother thinks he’s an attention whore and an asshole?

Let me get my tinfoil hat for this…*borrows Gus’ favorite pic*

OK, the plan could be to get Glenn and the Glennbots to cheer for someone openly ready to betray the country, then when they start screaming for him to “Unleash the Kraken” or whatever the kids say nowadays, then…

TROLLFACE

“See, this is what The Left [tm] wants! These sick people wanted me to destroy America!”

This is basically a copy of the “Ender Wiggin as not-even-thinly-veiled Godwinbait” theory which I’d just read the other day. I don’t know its THE plan, or even if its A plan. I don’t know if there IS a plan (given the trainwreck so far, I’d be tempted to say there’s no goddamn plan). But if I thought I was a MUCH smarter person than I know I am, this might be a plan I’d make.

I wouldn’t make it though, because I’m smart enough to KNOW I’m not smart enough to pull it off. I don’t know if Snowden is smart enough to know that he’s not smart enough to pull it off though.

66 Vicious Babushka  Mon, Jul 15, 2013 5:06:44am
