I have not evaluated large marijuana shipments in person, but iirc, the stuff has a pretty low density. Wouldn’t 75 pounds of marijuana make a bale about the size of a La-Z-Boy recliner (to use an analogy RWNJs can relate to)? If so, wouldn’t low-light video of massively loaded weed-carriers be all over the media?

GOP Congressman Defends Holder On Reinstating Voting Rights Act In Texas

Since Attorney General Eric Holder’s announcement Thursday that the Department of Justice would “ask a federal court in Texas to subject the State of Texas to a preclearance regime similar to the one required by Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act,” the reaction from Texas Republicans has been furious. But Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI), who sponsored the 2006 Voting Rights Act re-authorization, backed the move as legally proper.

Sensenbrenner told The Hill on Thursday that these critics were misrepresenting the facts. “The [Justice] department’s actions are consistent with the Voting Rights Act,” he said, noting that Voting Rights Act still allows challenges to changes that would suppress minority voters.

“Increased litigation will be one of the major consequences of the court’s decision as courts will have to litigate more allegations of voter discrimination under Section 2 and whether jurisdictions should be ‘bailed-in’ to preclearance coverage,” he added.

The back end/ tail fins reminds me of decades ago working in my friends auto body shop
He acquired a Caddy El Dorado that was all smashed up in the rear.
We basically eliminated the back of the car, from behind the drivers seat/ door and made the rear a flat bed similar to an El Camino

We named it an El Dorino!

Last year, some clever entrepreneur was caught growing marijuana in the alley less than a block from my house. A two acre patch of the stuff was discovered on a ranch just a few miles away. Excuse my ignorance of the dope business (again), but do gangsters really bother to smuggle the stuff over the border on any sizable scale? Cocaine, heroin, hand grenades, and C4 would make sense, but the economics of smuggling weed just don’t seem to add up.

OK, anyone who wants to read transcripts (unofficial) of the Bradley Manning trial, can do so here:

The US military has refused to release transcripts of Bradley Manning’s trial. In addition, they’ve denied press passes to 270 out of the 350 media organizations that applied. Without public transcripts or a press pass, it’s virtually impossible for media organizations to accurately cover the trial and for the public to know what the government is doing in its name.

In response, Freedom of the Press Foundation has crowd-sourced funding to place a professional stenographer in the media room covering the trial. We will post full transcripts shortly after each day’s proceedings end. The morning session with be posted by 7 pm the same evening. The afternoon session will be posted by 9 am the next morning. The transcripts will be released under an Attribution 3.0 Unported Creative Commons license.

Depending on how long the trial lasts, transcriptions will cost between $60,000-120,000, so please help support this project by going here to donate.

It would be useful to examine the differences in the civil and military justice systems. The military exists to assure good order and successful execution of the unit’s mission. Justice is expressly a secondary means to that. If you want to be a gangsta, the DoD is a bad place to start.

In California, I’m fairly certain the vast majority of the medical marijuana consumed in state is grown right here in state. In the “Emerald Triangle” in Northern California it is the number one cash crop and biggest industry by far.

This is a couple years old, but would seem to indicate a lot of marijuana is still being imported from Mexico.

Practically everybody I know grows their own at this point. And some of it is so good, I’d wager that the people growing it couldn’t afford it if they had to buy it.

Following Filner’s announcement that he will be checking into rehab for two weeks while continuing to be briefed on city activities twice a day, Francine Busby told Fox News Channel’s Shep Smith that she doesn’t think San Diegans will support the decision.

“Well, you know, the ball’s in the mayor’s court because in San Diego it’s either recall or resign. I mean, there’s no other way for the mayor to step down,” Busby said. “It looks like he made the decision to try to rehabilitate himself. I don’t think the people in san diego want a mayor who is in rehab while this story continues to unfold. Charges have been filed and I think they’d rather wipe the slate clean and get a fresh start.”

even before marijuana growing became the biggest cash crop in california in the 80s, most americans smoked colombian weed. mexican weed has always been crummy “shake”

it seems much more likely to me that we are smuggling that good california bud into mexico than the other way around

Literally the only drug I’ve ever done is alcohol. And I still catch shit from people for never having done anything else.

In one case, as part of criminal defense discovery, I was escorted by DEA agents to a secret storage warehouse in Miami-Dade County, which contained 10 or so semi-trailers full of bales of marijuana.

The bales of marijuana were compressed to a density comparable to hay bales. Which makes sense so to decrease the amount of space occupied by marijuana in transit.

A subsequent client was found guilty of importing several loads of 100,000 lbs of marijuana before he was arrested. He was sentenced under 848 (b), not RICO.
