At Last: The Convergence of Alex Jones and Fox News

Mainstream crazy
Media • Views: 23,114

It’s no secret that Fox News is in the business of mainstreaming far right ideology, but now, at last, the mask of sanity comes all the way off as the Geraldo Rivera show actually hosts swivel-eyed lunatic Alex Jones as if he were some kind of expert on Syria. Predictably, Jones concocts a conspiracy theory, because it’s what he does.

I’d say “shame on Fox News” for promoting one of the most despicable, deranged characters in America, but what’s the point?

It’s a business model that works for now.

It’s a business model that works for now.

It really is about the business model.

Success is measured in money not accuracy or reliability or knowledge or social benefit.

This must be intoxicating for a high schooler like Jones.

Ever notice that the worst of these kind have very little formal education?

Not that the money making schemes they invent require any.

Wow. Is that really what they have been told about Democrats?
It’s like the religious right completely projected their own fanatical faith onto the beliefs of progressives.

I really believe it has gotten to the point where the left and right are completely incompatible.

I see your Alex Jones and Fox News convergence and raise you Michele Bachmann, Steve King and Louie Gohmert:

washingtonpost.com

The video, posted below, is a doozy. Bachmann, presumably supported by King and Gohmert, offers fulsome praise for the coup and the military-led government’s subsequent actions, describing its crackdowns against sit-ins and demonstrations as “the front lines” in “the war on terrorism.” She described the Muslim Brotherhood as a common enemy and a “great evil,” implying that it had been responsible for the attacks against the U.S. on Sept. 11, 2001. King and Gohmert offered similar but more tempered remarks.

Bachmann’s remarks appeared deeply consistent with Egyptian state propaganda that has portrayed the Muslim Brotherhood as a secret terrorist organization and an internal enemy.

She added, “Many of you have asked, Do we understand who the enemy is? We can speak for ourselves: We do. We have seen the threat that the Muslim Brotherhood has posed, here, for the people of Egypt. We’ve seen the threat that the Muslim Brotherhood posed around the world. We stand against this great evil. We remember who caused nine-one-one in America.”

Another story on that village…

Syrian rebels seize control of Christian village

hosted.ap.org

“After days of clashes in and around Maaloula, rebels captured the village following fierce fighting late Saturday, according to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring group. Observatory director Rami Abdul-Rahman said the assault was led by Jabhat al-Nusra, an al-Qaida-affiliated group, as well as by the Qalamon Liberation Front.

“He said around 1,500 rebels were inside Maaloula, while the army had the village surrounded.

“Syria’s state news agency provided a dramatically different account of the battle, saying the military reported “progress” in its offensive in Maaloula.

“The army continued its military operation against terrorist elements in Maaloula village and its vicinity, inflicting a heavy casualty in the ranks of the terrorists, including their leaders,” the news agency said.”

Hard to decide what to think…

Think that anything that comes from a government or rebel propaganda font is mostly bullshit. All sides, all wars.

Hard to decide what to think…

As always in situations like this, somewhere in the middle

i have no doubt that the “rebels” have taken the town (or at the least, major portions of it) and also that the gov’t did inflict heavy casualities. THE question will be if the rebels can hold the town and if so, will they start slaughtering villgares
