Crazy Far Right Conference Ends With a Bang: Glenn Beck

The ultimate crackpot
Wingnuts • Views: 19,288

Now speaking at the craziest far right conference of them all, the Values Voter Summit: none other than raving freakazoid nut sandwich Glenn Beck. Of course! How else would you end an event like this?

And yes — he brought a chalkboard! He’s naked without it. And he just made the inevitable joke that it isn’t a blackboard — “You raaaaacist!” (Said in his goofy “liberal” voice.)

The live video is here.

Green is the new black.
And does the last comment in Beck’s left column say “What was the black storck”?? Surely I am imagining this. Is it a new form of birtherism?

Slightly OT, but reports are coming in that EBT machines are down across the state of Ohio.

I also saw this at FR, but I didn’t want to see their commentary for fear that my soul would be sucked out right through the computer screen and crushed in the wingularity.

OT, but reading through Robert Costa’s Twitter TL right now it sounds like the Senate GOP have finally realized that Boehner has lost total control of the House and they’re warning the Senate Dems that if they really do manage to break Sir John of Orange’s gavel over this whole shutdown/debt limit hike, there’s virtually no chance of any major legislation getting passed afterwards.

Mississippi as well:

Food stamps being declined in MS

WLOX is being flooded with phone calls from people who say their food stamps are being declined at various stores across South Mississippi. After making some phone calls we were able to confirm EBT cards are not being accepted, however, we are still trying to determine the cause.

Alice Douglas who is the store manager at Jerry Lee’s in Gautier said the transactions are not going through anywhere in the state. She said customers are being declined at Jerry Lee’s, Wayne Lee’s, all dollar stores, convenience stores, and Rouse’s.

WLOX has also received complaints from people who could not check out at Walmart and Sam’s Club and had to put their groceries back.

Douglas said she has tried to contact technical support for the EBT program but has been unable to get through.

“We don’t understand why we have this problem,” said Douglas. “It wasn’t a problem yesterday. People are asking if it’s part of the shutdown. We don’t know.”

Since most government agencies are closed on weekends, WLOX has reached out to the staff of Congressman Steven Palazzo to try to find out what the problems is and if the declined cards are connected to the government shutdown. The staff is investigating and we hope to have more information for you soon.

OT: We’ve pretty much finally got the big systems changeover at work done. It didn’t go flawlessly (we were supposed to be finished by Wednesday and didn’t wrap up until this morning, even with copious amounts of OT).

But wait until you hear WHY we had to do this changeover:

The system we converted FROM was actually five years more advanced than the one we converted TO. Why? Well, after our company was bought by another company, it was decided that everyone in the company should be running the same system. That makes sense.

However, since it would have cost them a fortune to upgrade everyone to our system, they decided to just downgrade us to the old system instead. So bottom line we’ve spent two weeks transitioning to an older, not as effective system.

What pisses me off is that the media ignores these wack jobs. Not a single story in the SF Chronicle about the VVS or the 30 truck convoy to arrest the government.

By ignoring these people, they leave it to places like Fox and RWNJ radio to beam adoring praise on these crazies. The alleged MSM needs to put events like these in the spotlight because they are what mainstream Republicanism has devolved to.

Yeah, for me it’s gallows humor. I can’t quite believe it either; causing a default is the apogee of the politics of personal destruction.

No surprise, the Senate GOP has been signaling for days that they wanted this over and done with, while the House GOP have insisted that if they just hold out a little longer, they’ll get everything want and a unicorn as part of the deal. One side’s dealing with reality and the other still wants to act as if it’s 2011 still.

In the end, it will hinge on Boehner’s willingness to buck the Teabagger Caucus. My impression - perhaps more of a forlorn hope - is that Boehner always wanted a single deal to kick the Debt Ceiling can way down the road while re-funding the government, so he can tear off the bandage all at once.

If he’d done this a week and a half ago, just to pass a clean CR, he might have been deposed before the Debt Ceiling came up for a vote, and while the shutdown is a fission bomb, the Debt Ceiling is thermonuclear.

GOP Filibusters Debt Limit Hike As Anxieties Flare Over Default

Senate Republicans blocked a debt ceiling extension from advancing on Saturday, bringing the country one step closer to a catastrophic debt default.

The motion to proceed to the Democrats’ bill received 53 votes in favor and 45 against, falling short of the 60 needed to begin debate. Every Republican senator voted to filibuster it. The bill would have raised the debt limit until the end of 2014 with no policy add-ons.

“A few extremist Republicans … too radical to compromise, could force a default on the nation’s financial obligations for the first time ever,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). “What I see staring us in the face is not a pleasant picture.”

After rejecting a House GOP proposal, Reid shot down an offer by Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) to resolve the impasse, and has initiated talks with Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). Reid, McConnell, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) met Saturday morning to begin new discussions, according to a source familiar with the matter.
