Right Wing Protesters Bring Confederate Flag to White House, Call on Obama to “Put Down the Koran”

What right wing racism?
Wingnuts • Views: 51,797

If you want people to believe that the Affordable Care Act is the worst thing since slavery, maybe it’s not a good idea to wave a freaking Confederate flag at your White House protest. The symbolism is beyond appalling: the first black President of the United States protested with the Dixie flag.

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with these people?

UPDATE at 10/13/13 11:45:29 am

And that’s not all, folks: At Tea Party-Like Rally, Obama Told to ‘Put the Quran Down’.

One speaker went as far as saying the president was a Muslim and separately urged the crowd of hundreds to initiate a peaceful uprising.

“I call upon all of you to wage a second American nonviolent revolution, to use civil disobedience, and to demand that this president leave town, to get up, to put the Quran down, to get up off his knees, and to figuratively come out with his hands up,” said Larry Klayman of Freedom Watch, a conservative political advocacy group.

UPDATE at 10/13/13 12:02:37 pm

Wingnut blogger Glenn Reynolds says the Confederate flag was planted by liberals, presumably to make right wingers look bad. “Usually is,” said Glenn.

Charles Johnson,

They do things based on their emotions without thinking things through, that’s what’s wrong with them!

Which would be better? An American Nazi Party flag or the “Loser of the War of Northern Aggression” flag?
This why you see the Stars & Bars.

What, they couldn’t find any North Korean flags? Nobody could scare up a Socialist Republic of Vietnam flag? Was the store out of Iraqi flags?

Yegods, what morons.

There’s a whole lotta folks that are still butthurt about losing the Civil War. They simply can’t accept the fact that they were militarily defeated and their ‘way of life’ upended.

10 Ming  Sun, Oct 13, 2013 11:40:40am

From NBC, a sign that for some people, extremism has a payoff:

“Though his approval rating may be slipping nationally, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz received an overwhelming nod of confidence from conservative activists on Saturday with a decisive victory in the Values Voter straw poll.”

It is long past time for anyone who may be able to influence these lunatics to speak up: put the Confederate flags away (better yet, burn them), get used to the Affordable Care Act, get used to a president who isn’t 100% white. We need people like Colin Powell, Bob Dole, George H. W. Bush, and so on to speak out early and often. Do these people really not care?

Instead, the flames of extremism are being fanned every day by the right-wing media empire. I’m truly astonished at how far the right wing has gone. It seems crazy to compare the year 2013 to some truly dangerous times, like the Civil War or World War II. But I’m not so sure anymore.

Problem is that at least some of those few hundred are sitting members of congress, not to mention a certain former governor of Alaska, at the march today promoting her special brand of crazy:

There are definitely a bunch of neo-secesssionists out there in the crowd.

I wouldn’t be surprised. There’s been a lot of talk of seceding from the Union in Wingnut circles.

There’s even an entire blog devoting to exposing a particular brand of secessionist known as the Neo confederate

Its called the anti neo confederate. You should check it out, if you haven’t already

of course not but I learned a while back these excuses aren’t about convincing others. It’s much more about self deception. These excuses are easily predictable; false flag plant, it’s an open protest and anyone can participate, what’s wrong with a little radicalism?, It’s only one guy out of millions of normal protesters, etc. It’s all bs.

In-flight WiFi is a great thing. I paid for it the last time I went to California. It made my flight home bearable.

Also, I recently found out that Greyhound buses are all WiFi hotspots, and each row of seats has electrical outlets. You can plug in, log on, and the entire trip is a blur.

Got to log another Greyhound pilgrimage.

Then it would simply be like Frenchmen waving a “Proud of the Maginot Line” banner, considering how profoundly and disastrously they were defeated. Just plain stupid.

Indeed. Instead of pointing out the Confederate Flag is racist (something the ones advocating its waving don’t care about), I prefer to point out it’s a symbol of military, industrial, technological and political defeat and failure. They’re never quite prepared for that.

It’s also fun to point out to those who say “The South Will Rise Again”, that it didn’t even succeed at rising the first time.

It’s also fun to point out to those who say “The South Will Rise Again”, that it didn’t even succeed at rising the first time.

A few years ago I finally saw Gone With The Wind.

The only scene I liked was when Rhett Butler told a room full of toffs that, “There isn’t a single cannon factory in The South.” At which point one of the toffs asked if he was calling the South’s honour into question.

That scene summed up the whole Civil War for me.

Another good foreign war movie, far more gritty and realistic than the average Hollywood production, is The Ninth Company, about Soviet soldiers in Afghanistan. Again, nothing is sugar coated (or exaggerated) but the humanity of the participants comes through. This film is loosely based on the Battle of Hill 3234 early in 1988. The Russian soldiers are not the killer robots and recycled Nazis of Red Dawn, they are (as in real life) ordinary young men, mostly working class, thrust by politics into a firestorm of violence and fear.

Confederate flag was a liberal mole trying to take attention away from Sarah Palin, of whom liberals are terrified.

and all the other protesters not kicking the guy with the confederate flag out of their protest, they’re also plants

and the people posting pictures of the protest where people are not kicking the guy with the confederate flag out to show how the people are against obama, they’re also plants

re: #225 Backwoods_Sleuth

However, in real life, my brother-in-law died at 6:17 pm yesterday after several years battling lung cancer.
He died in my sister’s arms, with his favorite cat (who hadn’t left his side the last four days) watching over him.
Our families are all over the country and around the world, and we have been able to be together for my sister and each other 24/7 the last few days as his journey here was ending, thanks to the internet.

So, tonight, I wish my brother-in-law godspeed on his new adventure and lift a glass in his memory and thank him for the happiness he has shared with my sister all of these past years.

So sorry. Condolences to you and your family on your loss.

Thank you, all.
Always difficult to say goodbye, but that’s how it is…
It’s good to have friends, so thank you all, again.

Sorry to hear that, but glad you could all be there, one way or another, for your sister.

This is one of the good things about modern communications. A year or so ago, a close friend whom I never had the honor to meet in person passed away after a long battle with cancer. He had dozens of friends like me, whom he’d never met in person, but who were able to let him know how much we valued his friendship, all in the virtual world.

If it’s shipping shipping ships, wouldn’t that make it a shipping-ship-shipping ship?

Just some quick Observations on a busy day.

#1 Ted Cruz won the echo chamber straw poll. Wow, that means so much. He’ll be sure to think he is President now. Screw being a mere Senator.

#2 Little runts with Big Flags and no sense of history, decency, or probably anything else are bad asses. Got it.

#3 Larry Klayman knows all about religion, especially his own form of wacko Christianity, but fails to practice it. What’s that called?

#4 Ben Shapiro not only looks 12, he acts like it just to make sure everyone knows. Hey Ben, I’m so glad you think you are self-important for something. Remind me sometime of what that is. It always escapes me.

#5 Greenwald and DickiLeaks are having a spat. Good. They will be sure to destroy each other. There will be so much dirt dishing all parties will suffer to the point no one will pay attention to them ever again actually growing sick of each upon hearing their names and of their organizations.

#6. All of us wonder when our country is going to get back to normal. And that is considering we all know normal wasn’t exactly smooth and heavenly. But it sure beats wingnutty and uber dudebro.

Thanks LGF members for keeping me informed. I’m still on a sports and arts media only consumption pattern. I can take the news and politics when filtered through this site. Much easier to consume when it is broken down into bite size, already baked chunks.
