Muslim Brotherhood ‘Uses Puppies as Firebombs?’

“Anti-jihad” bigots get even crazier
Middle East • Views: 52,801

Yes, you read that correctly: puppy bombs. If you saw the headline and actually believed it for a second, then your bullshit detector is probably in serious need of a tune-up. Think about it for a minute—the Muslim Brotherhood soaked puppies in gasoline so they could lob them at the Egyptian army?

Are you freaking kidding me? Can you seriously picture MB members throwing flaming puppies at armed soldiers? What, they didn’t have any bottles handy that they could use instead? I mean, for crying out loud, it’s not as if they were Molotov puppies that would explode on impact. *facepalm*

CBS New York actually published the story then rewrote it, scrubbing all the puppy bomb references. I guess journalism truly is dead—it’s all click bait now.

As usual, nothing is too ludicrous for anti-Muslim hate bloggers Pamela Geller & Robert Spencer if they can use it to demonize Muslims, painting them as inhumanly cruel & savage. I’m sure their knuckle-dragging fans devoured every word. Next it’ll probably be kittens or bunnies.

As you’ll see if you go to the source article, Spencer even came up with some hadiths about dogs that seem intended to imply Muslims hate dogs and would therefore (presumably) have no compunctions whatsoever about killing puppies in the most horribly brutal manner possible.

Naturally, Spencer doesn’t provide any context for the hadiths and I’m not going to bother doing so either. Why? Because if you seriously believe Muslims hate dogs and would use puppies as firebombs, then nothing I write is going to change your mind and I’m perfectly content to leave you wallowing in your ignorance.

Addendum: Geller’s blog post on the story isn’t mentioned in the article I linked to, however at the bottom of the page you’ll find a link to a follow-up story at another blog that covers what she wrote also.

Weaponised puppies! Are there are no depths to which these evil Islamists will not sink?

Earlier this week, under the touching headline “Refugee puppies from Egypt looking for homes in U.S.”, CBS New York reported that Robyn Urman of Pet ResQ Inc had revealed the shocking news that “members of the Muslim Brotherhood marching toward Tahrir Square to demand that ousted President Mohamed Morsi be reinstated were using puppies as gas bombs - dipping them in gasoline and lighting them on fire”.

According to CBS: “Urman received a Facebook message from Mervat Said, an animal rescue volunteer in Egypt, who said two puppies, Cleopatra and Cairo, were saved moments before they were to be used as weapons.” […]

Yes, really, that’s a story that CBS was prepared to take seriously. Unsurprisingly, they have had second thoughts about the accuracy of their reporting, and the “Refugee puppies from Egypt” article has now been completely rewritten to omit any reference to the animals’ deployment as incendiary devices. […]

Oh FFS. Puppy bombs. It’s almost as bad a cat juggling.

Youtube Video

Except Muslims are involved, so it must be real.//

Really, if these ‘newspeople’ want to open people’s eyes, there’s plenty of real animal abuse going on right here in the United States. And a lot of it by those oh-so-adored Heartland™ peeps. Factory farming, rodeo abuse, puppy mills, etc. etc. The sources of real outrage are endless.

But… puppy bombs. They fell for it.

Per Judges 15:4-5, the idea of weaponizing animals is an old one:

4And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails. 5And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.

Stampeding a crowd by injecting burning animals into it might make sense to an inhumane adversary. Throwing burning puppies at a riot-ready military formation does not.

Exactly. This is the sort of lie spread to blacken a foe’s name, a not uncommon tactic during the current Troubles in Egypt.

My first reaction on reading about this was to roll my eyes. I knew it would be a hideously ineffective method of propaganda on the part of some fool Islamaphobe.

My second was to recall the dog mines that the Soviet Union used during WWII. They were quite unsuccessful because the dogs were trained on Soviet equipment and so when used in combat they tended to attack Soviet equipment.

Humans. (rolls eyes)

Which is worse? MB attacked Egyptian soldiers with flaming gasoline or MB SET PUPPIES ON FIRE? It seems the wingnut contingent has an opinion on that.

(Irrespective of whether (either?) story is true.)

Don’t know if you’ve seen this, it’s been up on Buzzfeed this weekend:

Three Pages Of Rand Paul’s Book Were Plagiarized From Think Tanks

An entire section of Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul’s 2013 book Government Bullies was copied wholesale from a 2003 case study by the Heritage Foundation, BuzzFeed has learned. The copied section, 1,318 words, is by far the most significant instance reported so far of Paul borrowing language from other published material.

The new cut-and-paste job follows reports by BuzzFeed, Politico, and MSNBC that Paul had plagiarized speeches either from Wikipedia or news reports. The book was published in August 2013 by Center Street, a division of Hachette Book Group.

In this case, Paul included a link to the Heritage case study in the book’s footnotes, though he made no effort to indicate that not just the source, but the words themselves, had been taken from Heritage.

Robyn Urman of Pet ResQ Inc had revealed the shocking news that “members of the Muslim Brotherhood marching toward Tahrir Square to demand that ousted President Mohamed Morsi be reinstated were using puppies as gas bombs - dipping them in gasoline and lighting them on fire”.

So how does that go: round up unclean animal, touching it in the process.
Then douse with gasoline and light. Then pick up flaming, struggling animal and toss towards enemy, without getting burned. Simple, and so elegant, once you’ve thought it through.

Both sides tried bomb dogs during the war. Problem was they either A) used their own tanks to train the dogs or B) watched as the dogs got spooked by the tank fire and went to hide under the nearest, biggest object…which was usually their own tanks.

Pet ResQ, Inc; why are they incorporated like a business if they’re a charity?—you’ll see.

The application to adopt one of their “rescues” (note that there is a non-refundable “adoption fee”. members.petfinder.com

And they love publicity and fund-raising, even holding a “Fur Ball” with tickets running $125. Image: FurBallPoster.gif Even though they say, “Pet ResQ Inc. exists solely on donations and volunteer’s efforts.” they charge adoption fees, even though they claim the dogs are put into “private foster homes”, so they don’t have to fund a shelter or location of their own.

“WE ARE A RESCUE, A NON-PROFIT VOLUNTEER NETWORK OF PRIVATE FOSTER HOMES. There is no shelter to visit. You need to follow our procedure explained below. Because these dogs are in private homes, we need to make special arrangements for our APPROVED potential adopter to meet the dog he wants. To qualify for this, we need an application, and a home inspection. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER!!!! There is no ‘PetResQ Inc’ building. Instead, we rely on volunteers offering their homes to foster our pets while they wait for their forever families.”

I’m all for taking good care of animals and I support legitimate orgs that do rescue and care for neglected animals. But I’ve also seen individuals who do this sort of thing get into big trouble when they begin hoarding animals and run into trouble feeding and caring for too many. I’ve had to deal with a local SPCA in the past and found them to always be a legitimate and caring org.

I’ve never understood why they flew Miranda thru Great Britain. Unless they were looking to provoke the kind of incident that took place. In their hubris (or perhaps part of their grand strategy), it seems naive to think that the group that is threatening to reveal documents that prove spying malfeasance taking place in the West and levying charges against the “oppressive” British government would rely on said same goodwill when sending one of their known associates thru their jurisdiction.

So—who are those “70 human rights groups” in 40 countries who are condemning David Cameron and the UK? I’m no particular fan of DC, but it appears to me that the UK, because of the GCHQ, cooperating with the NSA, has probably prevented quite a few acts of terrorism by the usual suspects, not just in the US and UK, but in other locales as well.

I am not going to pretend that I have any of the knowledge and facts that my govt, and that of the UK, have in their operation of both agencies and will admit that spycraft, intelligence work and such are beyond my capability to understand without that knowledge and those facts. A few documents and files (many of them dating back 6 or 7 years) don’t give the entire picture of what any country must deal with in ensuring the safety of its people (as well as that of other cooperating countries) and preventing acts of terrorism.

Perhaps they think that provocations like that can make anti-terrorist tactics an issue in the forthcoming elections and sweep in candidates on a wave of dudebroism. That likely won’t work, since the United Kingdom has had harsh anti-terrorist laws for decades now.

The perfect gift for the mall ninja in your family:

Tactical Chef Apron

Call of Duty: Burger Ops

A seasoned outdoor chef attempts to prepare for all external variables. But it’s an impossible feat. The prep tray overflows with spatulas, BBQ forks, tongs, brushes, thermometers, spices, plates, and of course, beer. A chef’s space is an overcrowded one, to say the least, but every tool is essential to the mission. They were dark times; summer afternoons littered with burnt meats and overly charred vegetables.

Standing at a grill fixated on cooking — on creating! — was an impossible task. You had to depend on the kindness of friends and family to run and retrieve things you had forgotten in the kitchen. A quick grab for the tongs could mean spilling your beer. The spice was flowing… on the ground when you dropped it. That was, until the Tactical Apron was born. Emblazoned with the title CHEF and equipped with a MOLLE system, you’ll feel like a Soldier of Beef.

In addition, the bomb bays of American B-17s and B-24s were not large enough to carry the 4000 lb blockbuster, though they could carry more than that weight in smaller bombs. Both types could carry these bombs externally but this was rarely, if ever, done in action. British Lancasters could carry up to three 4000 lb. bombs and it was routine for them to carry one plus a large load of incendiaries.

Woo hoo, a MANIFESTO.

Leaked classified documents show the U.S. National Security Agency and its British counterpart are the “worst offenders” of mass surveillance without oversight, according to an open letter purportedly written by Edward Snowden and published Sunday by the German magazine Der Spiegel.

The publication of the letter, titled “A Manifesto for the Truth,” came just days after a German lawmaker met with the former NSA contract analyst. Snowden, who is wanted in the United States on espionage charges, offered to testify before the U.S. Congress, the lawmaker said.

“The world has learned a lot in a short amount of time about irresponsibly operated security agencies and, at times, criminal surveillance programs. Sometimes the agencies try to avoid controls,” Snowden wrote, according to the news magazine.

“While the NSA and GCHQ (the British national security agency) appear to be the worst offenders — at least according to the documents that are currently public — we cannot forget that mass surveillance is a global problem and needs a global solution.”

The letter, published in German by Der Spiegel, was written on Friday in Moscow and provided to Der Spiegel through a “locked channel,” the news magazine said. It was published in German and has been translated by CNN.

Are you on the list?

Both the good and bad lists actually.

He is not the real one.

That’s OK, the monitor will still work.

Ah okay perfectly understandable.

Wouldn’t please me, either. What sick minds…

That’s worse than the humorless douchecanoes that give out Chick tracts at Halloween. WTF.

Even worse than the lady in North Dakota who said she was giving out fat-shaming notes (which turned out to be a fake story anyway)

This year’s snowbirding trip includes spending the holiday season in Phoenix helping my son and his wife operate a Christmas tree stand. I’ve let my snow-white beard grow out to impress the little kids. It’s a lot of fun to watch their faces light up when they see me. Now I just have to find a Santa hat

re: #153 jamesfirecat

Really?

I ask not so much because I want to hear more about your family/pry into your personal life as take a moment and reflect on what Ender’s Game is about in and of itself as I know its writer is a homophobic jerk to say the least, but it’s been so long since I’ve read the book itself I have trouble figuring out the themes /message of the first book itself divorced from the man who wrote it.

dunno about his, but I’ve got a few issues with the story. (caveats: the last time I read them I was bored, and I’ve admitted elsewhere that the first time I read it - when I was 17, over 35 years ago - I liked it.)

Warning: SPOILERS FROM SHORT STORY/NOVEL.

Issue the first: Despise the message that "Bullying toughens children."
Issue the second: Must be children? Really?
Issue the third: Despise the theme of ‘We were hurt, so the only response is genocide.’ (Note that the children don’t know this. The adults do, however. And they decline to make any attempt to stop and say "negotiate or die.")
Got kicked out of the suspension of disbelief in the novel when i realized the magic technology that’s being used had to be deployed years before it was invented so the ships Ender commands can have and use it. This may be fixed in the movie.

Making children cry is a great way to get their parents to support your cause!

My hair is becoming snow white on the sides but my beard is still salt-n-pepper. And all I can grow is a goatee that begs to be braided when it gets long.

I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe … Airedales on fire off the shoulder of Orion.

I see what you did there…

I read the article, the worst part was the “Police reported there was no evidence of drug or alcohol use in the incident”. In other words, a very possibly stone cold straight individual put a lava lamp on a hot stove.

re: #148 Lidane

That too. Even if I’d read the books as a kid, I wouldn’t pay to see this movie now. Orson Scott Card is a bigoted asshole. I won’t support him.

I get that. I’d just say this, that was one long list of credits to that movie. From director all the way down through honey wagon driver. So supporting it or not, Orson Scott Card is just one name on the list. Which is a whole other ballgame from the book and author business.

There wouldn’t BE an Ender’s Game without him. He’s not just one name on the list. He’s the reason there’s a movie at all.

I’ll save my money for creators that I actually like.
