Sarah Palin’s Word Salad of the Day

Palin achieves peak incoherence
Wingnuts • Views: 25,451

Video

Sarah Palin is on a media tour to promote her silly book about a nonexistent “War on Christmas,” and today the blithering half-governor appeared on the Today show with a tasty new right wing word salad, achieving (not for the first time) total incoherence.

The plan is to allow those things that had been proposed over many years to reform a health-care system in America that certainly does need more help so that there’s more competition, there’s less tort reform threat, there’s less, um, trajectory of the cost increases, and those plans have been proposed over and over again. And what thwarts those plans, it’s the far left, it’s President Obama and his supporters who will not allow the Republicans to usher in free market, patient-centered, doctor patient relationship links to reform health care.

[…]

Uh, you know, when you stand in the middle of the road you’re gonna get hit on both sides of the road. We need to take a stand especially on this Obamacare, and support those who are just fulfilling their campaign promises, SO many politicians ran for reelection and for election saying they will do anything in their power to defund the status [sic] socialized medicine program called Obamacare. Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, some of these guys actually were fulfilling their campaign promises and they asked for debate. That’s why they stood up, they took the stand, fought for us, to debate the issue of Obamacare.

Wha?

Speaking of apologies, has John McCain ever apologized for bringing this absolute moron into the right wing limelight?

Worse than that, the ACA actually IS ‘those plans that were talked about over all those years’.

Ho, he hasn’t ever apologized. To the contrary, he keeps on defending the selection of Palin. Really her whole deluded fantasy that ACA is going to mean the end of free enterprise is an absolute joke. I really wish the media would stop treating her as if she’s a reasonable voice in the conversation, she’s not and she has never been. She’s a quitter who quit on her state the minute she saw the money that came with being a right wing folk hero. As much as I despise Bachmann and those like her, I have more grudging respect for them because at least they stand office and risk losing political power but Palin just spits and spits.

Might just be nitpicking here, but can you actually have less or more trajectory? Trajectory is just the path that the cost increases are following. Less path?

Times like these I’d like to be a journalist just so I can ask Sarah or one of the “true believers” to just level with me as to what Republicans propose as an alternative to the ACA. Not talking points, but an actual plan. Show us the numbers that support this idea that there is some way to ensure tens of millions of uninsured Americans can have affordable access without screwing them over in the process.

It would be interesting to see what a smart, dogged interviewer would do with that response of hers, like pointing out that tort reform of the sort the GOP desires already exists in a number of states, but healthcare and health insurance are no cheaper there, while also pointing out that despite the decrying of ‘defensive medicine’, it actually DOES save lives - I think one estimate was about 90,000/year?

“So, given that Gov. Palin, how is it you see tort reform making insurance more affordable for average Americans?”

Hell, just ask her how Texas, which did institute tort reform, fared in the first few years after such became law. After she mumbled and muttered for a second, I’d point out that malpractice insurance rates skyrocketed, contrary to the predictions of the law’s supporters. And even though they tapered off in recent years, they are still above the national average.

And that is one point I make whenever I get in arguments with wingnuts about healthcare. I always end with, “Most other industrialized nations offer universal coverage that costs less per capita and as a percentage of GDP, and their citizens are generally far more satisfied with their healthcare system than Americans are with ours. To say that we can’t or shouldn’t do at least as well is not only UN-American, it’s ANTI-American.”

Since when is tort reform a “threat” to a RWNJ? I guess the answer is when the RWNJ in question has no idea what she’s spewing on about.

Given what we’ve seen of the “doctors” that get elected to public office in Texas, and their (non)comprehension of basic female biology, it’s not surprising that malpractice insurance rates keep rising there.

I commented on this earlier in another thread. I was embarrassed for Matt Lauer, and it was very obvious to me he soft balled her big time. Just another example of the no-journalists journalism. And The Today Show is a part of NBC News. I don’t know how they can claim that when it is nothing but entertainment.

But you know, when you think about it, none of the big news folks attack the standard Republican talking points. Only MSNBC will go after them, but then it probably doesn’t matter because most see MSNBC as slanted so far to the liberal side they pay it no attention. So, what we get is mush and Sarah is all about the mush.

Damn! Fucking ghoul freepers are suggesting conspiracy and sabotage in the plane crash that killed Dr. Perry Inhofe, son of Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK). Their evidence? Nothing, as usual.

“The son was a pilot AND instructor….
…reading the description of the crash….it just sounds strange.
I take very little at face value anymore.”

(Newsflash, goofball: Experienced instructors have been known to crash.)

“Clinton tried to kill Inhofe back in the 90’s with a plane ‘accident’”

(Inhofe made an emergency landing after a prop came off his plane. At the time, Inhofe’s press secretary said the FBI had been asked to investigate because “propellers don’t just fly off airplanes every day.”
Not every day, but not far from it, especially in the past. It has happened many thousands of times over the last 100 years.)

“I’ve never know a single soul that perished in a plane crash. Heck I don’t know anybody who has ever known of a person that was in a plane crash. These politicians ALL know LOTS of people who died in “plane crashes”. No coincidences here, noooo not at all. How many have the Clinton’s known?……yeah a lot of them, hmmmmm.”

What astonishes me is her complete inability to talk about policy beyond buzzwords. I mean, most people can handle at least SOME sort of real policy discussion, especially if they’re going to be bitching about a policy they should at least be able to articulate the issues with it and how to address them. But not Palin. Once she gets past the canned responses (answers to the first 2 questions from Lauer) her response is what you’d expect if you asked the below-average guy on the street. Not only incoherent, but deeply lacking any kind of understanding of the issues.

On top of that, she feels the need to pack as many buzzwords as possible into every run-on sentence, like there’s a checklist she’s filling out.

When I prepare for a meeting, I generally at least go over in my head how I’ll respond to certain likely questions, at least map out responses in my head, but every interview I’ve ever seen with her rapidly descends into blathering that sounds like she’s never heard of the topic.

It’s like she’s the person in the dream where you have to take a final in a class you didn’t remember signing up for and you can’t drop it and it’s in a subject you have no knowledge of and can’t fake it and if you don’t ace it you won’t graduate and you’ll never get a job…

It’s actually a subtle plot by the teams in the NFC North to prevent people from seeing that the Detroit Lions are being successful this season.

They fear MEGATRON!

Johnson’s tough, no doubt, but his team can be beaten. Hopefully the Bears can still get a wild card spot and nail the Lions on the third go-round.

Again, I know where you are coming from…

Let’s make that true.

I come from a place where girls could not wear pants to school. Where girls could not take wood shop, or physics, or drafting. Where Sarah could not have played basketball in college. Where a woman who wanted to run for office in the P.T.A. was told to go home and bake cookies.

And I’m only 6 years older than Sarah.

It’s not a big deal. Sarah wants to take away women’s rights, so in a way she ‘deserves’ sexist jokes and derision. But if we can mock her without validating the sexism, so much the better.

It’s anti-intellectualism takes to it’s logical conclusion. The idea that people get turned off by politicians who appear smart and “talk down” to them, so good politicians try to appear as if they’re one of the common folk, which almost always just looks hilarious when you have a rich 1%er trying to act as if he’s at home at a country fair, eating corndogs and washing them down with soda before quickly begging for a bottle of mineral water to get the taste out of their mouths.

Being actors in other words. Which is part of the reason why Reagan was successful. Other politicians trying to “act” as something else in order to address some perceived weakness gets you things like Dukakis in a tank.

Thing is, eventually the actors will get replaced by people who actually believe this BS, because the rubes decide if they want to have an idiot in office, they’ll elect a real idiot instead of someone who just pretends. Which is how we get such titans of intellectualism as Palin, Cruz, Lee, Ryan, and Paul.

Indeed, how many times have we seen over the years “comparison” pictures of “liberal women” and “conservative women”? Had conservatives who get uptight if you comment on Palin’s empty prettiness turn around and snicker about Pelosi needing plastic surgery? To many of them, you can’t be pretty and liberal. They have to reinforce in their minds that stereotype of the bitter, angry feminazi who became so because she’s too ugly to land a “real man.”

Sarah Palin is NOT a moron.
She is intellectually lazy.
She is a bull-shitter.

She sure don’t want to hurt no one.

re: #132 ObserverArt

wrenchwench,

I’m here for the debate. I didn’t take any of your comments as an attack. I hope you understand my points too. Anything can be misconstrued and interpreted as sexist when you are trying to make a point about a female that basically fails at everything she does. It could be said she hides behind that sexism relying on her supporters to point out the attacks as being sexist.

Of course, she relies on them to make those points, but she has also done so herself. Still, I get your point, too. I think women who use “sexism” as an excuse to cover up their mistakes, incompetence, to avoid criticism, and use their looks and “sex appeal” to get ahead are not doing women who actually experience sexism any favors. It’s just part of the competitive, not cooperative, mindset which tells them to use anything in their toolbox to advance, even if has absolutely no bearing on doing a good job, like education and experience.

182 ObserverArt  Mon, Nov 11, 2013 3:31:15pm

re: #137 The Ghost of a Flea

A more serious statement.

Sarah Palin’s looks don’t matter, and she shouldn’t be mocked for being pretty or ugly. She should be roundly mocked for her hatefulness, Jacobin revanchism, and her proud ignorance.

But it really matters that so many of her supporters like to point out she’s “smart and pretty.” Because they’re not just complementing her, they’re setting up a (deeply sexist and tribal) distinction of “real woman” Palin…who is feminine, because pretty is feminine…and any and all female liberals who they wish to mark as not only not pretty, but as not-women.

Let us keep in mind we do not want to limit language. Ugly is not a one-definition word used just as a definition of physical traits.

As a matter of fact many of the other definitions can rightly be used on a person like Palin.

Ugly definitions outside of human looks…

2a. Repulsive or offensive; objectionable: an ugly remark.
2b. Chiefly Southern U.S. Rude: Don’t be ugly with me.
2c. New England Unmanageable. Used of animals, especially cows or horses.
3. Morally reprehensible; bad.
4. Threatening or ominous: ugly black clouds.
5a. Likely to cause embarrassment or trouble: “Public opinion in both nations could take an ugly turn” (George R. Packard).
5b. Marked by or inclined to anger or bad feelings; disagreeable: an ugly temper; an ugly scene.

I am constantly disappointed many only know and react to main/common definition.

Mitt Romney is a pretty good looking guy. But, he is ugly to me!

I think my parents were too busy raising my brother and I to really think about politics. I’ll admit, Bush 41 is a man who’s grown on me in recent years. I still have some problems with him, i.e. the Horton Ad but I think he’s been a terrific former president and I really do feel the GOP needs more like him today.

When Dad got promoted to corporate headquarters, early in my childhood, my mom was able to make the switch to a full-time stay-at-home mom. That’s kind of when the political leanings took a strong uptick.

Ah that will do it. I don’t remember my parents being that politically interested. My grandparents on both sides I knew were Democrats and Dad did take me to Clinton’s first inaugural but he’s always joked that he wanted the Democrats to win because he knew they could get better musicians to play for them.

You can tell in the photos that Obama is genuinely touched meeting veterans. I still remember one of the first times I saw him speak back when he was still a senator when he would talk about how proud he was of his grandfather who served during WWII with Patton’s Army. Anyone who thinks that veterans don’t respect this president or vice versa already made up their made how THEY felt about President Obama years ago.

Marco Rubio Raising Money for Group That Tries to Turn Gay People Straight

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) will speak at a fundraising dinner this week honoring Mat Staver, an ardent anti-gay activist who has defended Malawi’s ban on homosexuality. Staver is suing New Jersey GOP Gov. Chris Christie for signing a law banning gay-to-straight conversion therapy, and has said that teaching gay rights in schools is tantamount to “sexual assault.”

Rubio, a possible GOP presidential candidate in 2016, will deliver the keynote address at the annual fundraiser for the Florida Family Policy Council, a prominent social conservative organization that promotes so-called “conversion therapy” to help LGBT individuals become straight. Conversion therapy has been condemned as a form of abuse by psychologists. It is banned outright in a handful of states beyond New Jersey, including California. The American Psychiatric Association, which does not endorse conversion therapy, says the practice is at best ineffective and at worst can “reinforce self-hatred already experienced by the patient.”

The good news, the dog doesn’t have mange (aka demodex mites). The bad news, the staph infection in her skin still isn’t gone, so it’s two more weeks of antibiotics. This stuff is starting to get expensive. 200 bucks so far. Sigh. But she’s getting better, so that’s the good thing.

I also somehow ended up with a brief, but not at all amusing bout of food poisoning. Threw up at the vet’s office and let’s just say the ride home, while brief, was not at all fun. I’m better now, 8 hours later. And that dog, never left my side at all today. Laid in the bed with me and snuggled right up to me the whole time til The Husband got home. 80 lbs of German Shepard/Doberman mix curled up as close to me as she could get giving me teeny little dog kisses every once in awhile. I love that doggie.

I spent 1/4 of my points on a tank that got blown up on the first turn of the game and the blast killed 1/3 of another squad that was next to it. I then had to advance across a crossfire before I could charge the objective. I got lucky when my scouts were able to come in behind an enemy squad and cut them down, then come around and take out the enemy commander the next turn.

It’s the ‘baking cookies’ phrase. Implying women shouldn’t do whatever is just not as sexist as saying they should go bake cookies. It’s classist as well as sexist.

And don’t get me started on ‘white trash’.

:)

By “baking cookies” I meant that she should go home and do all that traditional Christmas crap that she talks about when she abandons her family to do endless press junkets. You could easily substitute hanging wreaths or whatever else “hello quitty” thinks is under attack. For someone that is all about the family and all that, she sure has no problems dumping the kids off on dad or whoever and going out to chase the $$$. (As for the nic, Philbin is my grandmother’s last name, and I love the nic too!)

That the Democrats were on the wrong track nominating Kerry, and were not well suited to lead the nation in a time of war.

Agree or disagree (I happen to think Miller was right about the Dems of 2004), that was what Miller’s appearance and speech meant. He wasn’t some crazy, he was someone who felt his party was wrong (Remember that he was a life-long Dem) and that George W. Bush was the better man for the job of president.

Yes he was a lifelong Dem from the very red state of Georgia, in point of fact while he was not crazy he was at the very least fringe and not necessarily speaking for the mainstream democratic and especially not liberal thought at the time.

Here, let me try to help

The plan is to allow those things that had been proposed over many years to reform a health-care system in America (individual mandates, healthcare exchanges, no more pre-existing condition exclusions) that certainly does need more help so that there’s more competition (healthcare exchanges), there’s less tort reform threat, there’s less, um, trajectory of the cost increases (less cost by making sure healthy people pay for insurance), and those plans have been proposed over and over again (by Democrats and reasonable Republicans). And what thwarts those plans, it’s the far (right) left, it’s (Teabag partiers) President Obama and his supporters who will not allow the (Democrats) Republicans to usher in (universal) free market, patient-centered, doctor patient relationship links to reform health care.
