The Sheriff’s Office, in a short news release, reported that the agency had arrested Zimmerman after being called to a disturbance on Topfield Court in western Seminole County near Apopka.

Surprising absolutely no one, the kind of man that would kill an unarmed kid for the crime of Walking While Black and feel absolutely no remorse about it, is also the kind of man that would beat and/or threaten his SO.

Is it legal yet to charge the people involved in letting this murderer walk free as accessories to his subsequent crimes?

The one man crime spree is at it again. But Florida being Florida, and that this is once again a domestic disturbance, the alleged victim will relent and not press charges because she fears for her life.

Prosecutors will once again come up against the inevitable fact that people like Zimmerman get away with a whole lot of criminal acts because their victims fear for their lives once their assailant is released from jail (we’re not talking about a crime for which the penalty is life without parole after all).

Sadly, it may take another deceased victim before Zimmerman is behind bars and no longer a menace to anyone else.

Anyone else still believe the story about how Trayvon hid in the bushes and then pounced on Zimmerman when he tried to follow him “forcing” Zimmerman to finally draw his gun as a last resort?

It was effing bullshit then as far as I was concerned, but now we all have repeated new evidence that shows what a hair trigger nutjob Zimmerman is.

So, does anyone still want to defend his bullshit story?

26 erik_t  Mon, Nov 18, 2013 11:39:00am

I’ll weigh in that I only ever defended the legal process, not his story. I knew next to nothing about it, wish to Cthulhu I’d never heard his name, and so could only judge his story on what the evidence showed. The State of Florida fucked up, that’s all there really is to it.

Oh, it occurs to some of them. Some of the more unhinged nutbars want unimpeded access to the US military’s arsenal since they know that their AR-15 doesn’t stand a chance against a tank or a Howitzer.

Yeah, I’ve seen more than one argue that the 2nd Amend meant for the citizenry to be armed well enough to challenge the military in the event of tyranny, so they should have anti-tank rockets at the least.

Well, at least maybe there is a silver lining, if he is found guilty of threatening with a gun during a domestic violence incident then Florida will finally be forced to take away his gun carry rights. Then the Feds will also declare him ineligible to own a firearm, maybe it will save someone the next time they buy Skittles and iced tea (if not his future domestic partners).

OOOoooOOOoooOOO!!!!!

AMC orders “Preacher” pilot based on Vertigo Comics series

We’ve had some discussions here in the past about “Preacher.”

One of the greatest comic book series of all times; very edgy, somewhat profane, and definitely more anti-religious than what mainstream U.S. is used to.

Based on its success with “Breaking Bad” and “The Walking Dead,” if *anyone* can get “Preacher” right, it’s AMC.

(For those who don’t want to dig deep, it’s “The purpose of the united states constitution is to limit the power of the federal government, NOT the American people.” It claims to be from the Federalist papers, written by Hamilton, Madison, and Jay. First, it’s not in the federalist papers OR the anti-federalist papers. Second, there were a lot more authors than those three. Third, of course, is the point he seems to be missing that the federalist/anti-federalist papers were public debate and bashing on whether we’d have a federal or non-federal national government - and the federalists won the debate.)

It’s possible this might go to court, as the girlfriend claims she’s pregnant, and in Florida that automatically bumps this up to a felony. He’ll not be eligible for bail and really, by this point, who’d want to foot the money to bail his ass out anyway?

He’ll claim that Obama is orchestrating this to get him, and then the dudebros will rally ‘round.

I find the juxtaposition of the colonial-era outfit, the colonial-era flag, and a modern assault rifle to be revealing. It really >is a fetish for these people, isn’t it?

They never question why their ‘right to bear arms’ doesn’t include tanks. Or land mines. Or rocket launchers. Or attack helicopters. Or ballistic missiles. Or flamethrowers. Or nuclear weapons. Or grenades. The thought just never occurs to them.

They can have all the single-shot, muzzle-loaded, flint-fire assault rifles they want, as far as I’m concerned.

“A girlfriend”? Wasn’t Zimmerman married not a month ago?

I generally don’t pry, but this assbag decided to make his personal life our business, so.

Mrs. Zimmerman doesn’t want to be Mrs any more and filed for divorce.

Actually it is a article of faith for more than a few them of that they should be able to own anything they can afford and that only the unconstitutional National Firearms Act prevents that.

Perfectly understandable. However, until it is final, I’m conservative enough to think you ought not to have moved in with someone else. But that’s just me.

Nah, under the Dewey Decimal and the Library of Congress systems, religious writings are non-fiction. That said, I don’t go to Costco for a librarian’s convention.

Fascinating Costco fact:

A typical Costco worker made $45,000 in 2011, according to Fortune. That’s compared to Sam’s Club workers’ average salary of $17,486 per year, according to salary information site Glassdoor.com.

Apparently more profitable too.

As someone who shops at Costco, there are no separate “aisles” for fiction or nonfiction. There is a gradation within the aisle as you move from clearly bestseller fiction (none of the stuff I read ever shows up there) to …really, the only “nonfiction” that I think Costco typically carries are “For Dummies” books and cookbooks. (I tend to look at the cookbooks, that’s how I know this.)

Oh, and children’s books.

It is possible that the Bibles were on the boundary between bestseller fiction and the “nonfiction” section. But really this is all about someone looking for a reason to be offended.

Wages are so low that workers in one location alone consume around $1 million in public benefits to get by.

walmart’s profits, our tax money

Even moreso because of Walmart’s habit of locating 10 feet outside of city limits. They don’t pay *any* taxes to the municipality that’s stuck with the role of “Walmart Benefits Coordinator”.

Oh, it occurs to some of them. Some of the more unhinged nutbars want unimpeded access to the US military’s arsenal since they know that their AR-15 doesn’t stand a chance against a tank or a Howitzer.

In some ways I’m kinda in favour of them getting their hands on more advanced weapons.

Mostly because more advanced weapons required a lot of training and never ending care to use properly. These loons would probably blow themselves up within a week.

Good idea, hampered by the rather large potential for negative externalities.

But what an interesting story it would be had any of these women decided to protect themselves from physical abuse with a gun. Then we could hear about what emotional, jittery, harlots, that baited him they were.

Fuck this guy and his defenders sideways.

Really? I’ve considered making my own resting place as a final testament to my woodworking. I know of one or two places where I can get the various hardware, but didn’t know anybody made a kit. Have to check it out.

Thanks,
