Megyn Kelly asks the same old long-answered questions about Benghazi

Wingnuts • Views: 18,661

Because in order to get wingnuts to watch your show, sometimes you have to beat a dead horse.

On the December 3 edition of Fox News’ The Kelly File, Kelly hosted Republican Rep. Devin Nunes (CA) to discuss this week’s closed-door congressional testimony from two CIA contractors present in Benghazi during the attacks on September 11, 2012. During the interview, Nunes claimed that there are still unanswered questions about the administration’s response to the attacks, asking, “What were they doing? How come nobody came to help?” Kelly did not push Nunes on his claim, instead parroting it: “Your point is, they didn’t dispatch any help, even when it was unclear whether the attack had ended or not. What would be the delay when they didn’t know it was over?”

Kelly later asked if the congressional hearings had “been able to shed light … about what the president was doing at the moment of the attack and on the night in question,” to which Nunes said no. She concluded, “So we still don’t have any answers.”

Maybe he was taking a leak. It happens.

IMPEACH!

It never ceases to amaze me. The right like to demonize (and use) prostitutes. Yet, they lionize the likes of Kelly et al, who blatantly sell their souls and would make Jesus cringe more than any prostitute ever could.

You have to wonder if any Fox employees cry themselves to sleep at night. Nah. That would take a conscience.

Maybe she’s asking whether he has an alibi. Perhaps she thinks he was taking part in the attack.

///only a little.

Hey, the Obamacare thing is getting stale. 834’s? Do we have any more Benghazi material left? Let’s lead with that again.

Interesting how integrity and the RWNJ mind-collective seem to involve different definitions of cohesiveness.

They’ll be fucking that chicken when Obama’s dead. They so want this to be like Iran-Contra or Watergate for him but the fact of the matter is that Benghazi was a tragedy to be sure but the American public isn’t buying the right’s narrative that Obama is the only president to have an embassy attacked. (Yes, I know Benghazi was in fact a consulate, all the more reason why I emphasize embassy here)

“834s? How do you expect me to convince those mouthbreathers that something called an ‘834’ is a big deal? Just bring me the Benghazi file, I’m sure there’s something we haven’t repeated this week.”

And when that one fails, question his love and loyalty to the nation that he was elected to run because his father was from Kenya and he lived in Indonesia as a kid.

Again I ask “What help could have been sent?” The DoD did not have sufficient forces in the area to attempt a rescue mission and bombardment of Islamist positions was right out due to the certainty of civilian casualties.

“Sometimes”?

These are people who are still angry at that “tyrant” Lincoln and that “communist” FDR. The horse has been reduced to fine dust and they’re now shattering wooden sticks on the cold hard earth.

Dark, you’re asking that question of people whose first inclination when met with inconvenient facts is to engage in wild and baseless speculation. In their minds, it didn’t matter if there was no help to be had or that help was hours away. People raised on the media myth of the cavalry being right over the next ridge can’t wrap their heads around the idea that the military doesn’t always have forces in the area or can active them at the push of a button.

20 erik_t  Wed, Dec 4, 2013 11:00:48am

I wonder if, in retrospect, Fox and Friends regret hitching their wagon to such a hilariously made-up and pointless story/controversy.

Almost anything could have been trumped up better than this, where a year later nobody can cogently describe (never mind provide evidence for!) what a scandal even might look like.

They hope to be able to keep the anger stoked until the Democratic primaries, where they can discredit Clinton enough to keep her from being the nominee. I just don’t think anyone who would vote for Hilary is still outraged about this.

Yes, this. The other thing that gets me is they bellyache about the security. Well, firstly Benghazi was a consulate and not an embassy and hint the president isn’t the one who pushed for cuts on security. The right wants it both ways on this issue. They want to cut things like embassy security while at the same time accusing Obama of being too incompetent to respond to an attack. I think Benghazi would simply be seen as the tragedy it was if Romney hadn’t cynically tried to exploit it for political points so I blame him in good part for the Benghazi conspiracy theory bullshit.

You’re talking about the sizeable segment of your party that wants to nuke the Middle East out of existence for the baby Jesus. EVERY person in and around Benghazi was an Islamist and a terrorist and had to die to save those four men.

Clearly, Obama’s only option was to bomb the hell out of everyone and everything. Anything less is treason.

That’s pretty much all BENGHAZI!!! is now, their hope for a dealbreaker in 2016. They hope either that one of her primary opponents will be able to topple her with it or, failing that, that Republicans can use it to boost their “USA RAH RAH!!” credentials enough to win over the jingoistic dipshits in the base.

Then they are being foolish. The thing to do then is explain how the military really works. If they cannot grasp that, then there is nothing to be done. I’ve set some people straight: My best friend never caught the Benghazi Fever because he trusted my explanation regarding the practicality of a military response. But I can’t do much if the problem is that someone else is stuck on stupid.

Even Donald Rumsfeld ordered air strikes aborted when the likelihood of civilian casualties was too high. But then again, Rumsfeld isn’t rage-fueled hater, either.

I had wingnuts, even weeks after the initial rumors of AC-130U gunships and F-16s being “close by” had been shredded, who declared to me that we could have scared off the crowd or at least the guys running the mortars with the laser beam from a UAV. They really do think that everything they need to know about how the military works can be learned from Hollywood.

re: #26 Dark_Falcon

No shit.

The thing to do then is explain how the military really works.

It’s been done, repeatedly. But since everyone in the DoD works for the President they’re all suspect as sources.

If they cannot grasp that, then there is nothing to be done.

It’s not cannot, it’s will not grasp that.

There’s always someone who claims Spec. Ops credentials that will tell you there’s a sub full of SEALs in every medium sized river in the Middle East, just cleaning their guns waiting for the order, but Obama wanted Amb. Stevens dead because…well, that’s never clear.

I’ve set some people straight: My best friend never caught the Benghazi Fever because he trusted my explanation regarding the practicality of a military response. But I can’t do much if the problem is that someone else is stuck on stupid.

It’s not even so much stupid as willfully ignorant, because the belief that the President of the United States would abandon Americans he could have rescued, then lie about why the attack occurred for no clear reason makes them feel better than the belief that there wasn’t anything that could be done and the Administration gave out the best information they had in a timely fashion.

These people WANT TO BELIEVE that Obama is evil, so anything that might refute, or even soften that CANNOT BE TRUE. You MUST grasp this or you will continue to fail at understanding who your fellow Conservatives have become.

She used to break from FN talking points on rare occasions. But not since she moved to “prime time”.
She now has the awesome responsibility to push whatever sick anti-Obama narrative of the day is.

She does it “Kelly Style” with tilted blond head, quizzical expression of concern in the eyes and pursed lips. Don’t know if that will be enough to keep the Hannity hate viewers.

That’s your opinion. My opinion is anyone working for that shit-house outfit has not thought very carefully about their own credibility, integrity, or career longevity. Nor do they care about the first two, and that for a journalist is DUMB.

WHY DIDNT THEY SEND HELP??????
because it was 500 miles away. When there is a fire in Chicago do we send the NYC fire department? These people are just assuming that no one can find a map and figure out how far away these places are from each other.
