Glenn Beck: Obama or Christie Might Launch “False Flag” Attacks Against the US

Wingnuts • Views: 16,726
Yes Glenn, you are.

Operation Northwoods was a 1962 Defense Department proposal where a series of false flag attacks against targets in the United States (mainly Florida) would take place so they then could be blamed on Fidel Castro (who had taken power three years earlier) , and thus justify an invasion of Cuba to overthrow Castro. President Kennedy rejected the proposal. Glenn Beck, however, posits that Barack Obama or Chris Christie might actually consider something like this, because “the ends justify the means.”

It was Kennedy that said (in reference to Operation Northwoods) “Are you out of your mind? No! We’re not doing that!” Is anyone sitting here, telling me that Chris Christie would say that? If it served their purposes? Ends justify the means? I’m not sure Operation Northwoods doesn’t happen.

The opportunity to do that and blame Syria came and went. Instead Obama used his bully pulpit to bluff Putin and Assad into going along with a confirmed disposal plan for Syrian chemical weapons.

This is the reason conservatives are getting more and more shrill, why they keep wanting to make Benghazi some kind of thing, because the actual overthrow of Libya was accomplished with zero loss of US servicemen. However unstable Iraq is now at least Obama got us out of that shithole, no more US servicemen are dying there. Soon we’ll be out of Afghanistan too. The GOP knows that these are successes and that not only infuriates them, it scares them to death. Combined with the shrinking demographic corner they’ve painted themselves into the GOP national electoral prospects are looking more and more desperate.

Their future is a grim one and what pisses them off the most is that they put themselves into this position enthusiastically, the PR failure and rejection they face is a natural, organic, predictable result of them having been allowed to govern and legislate based on their worldview. They own the shit consequences of their own policies having been put into action, and the Democrats get to campaign on having cleaned up the resulting disaster.

8 Justanotherhuman  Thu, Jan 16, 2014 3:48:25pm

Dismissed on a technicality, actually.

Judge dismisses Google Glass driving ticket

utsandiego.com

“Abadie was cited for violating California Vehicle Code Section 27602, which says drivers can’t view television or video signals while driving other than dashboards, navigation systems, backup cameras and the like.

“Abadie’s lawyer, William Concidine of San Diego, argued that the vehicle code in the citation doesn’t apply to Google Glass, since it didn’t exist at the time the law was written.

“In addition, Abadie testified that the glasses were off when she was driving. Like a cellphone screen, Google Glass powers down when not in use, she said. It won’t turn on again until activated by touching the frame or tilting the head a certain way.”

Once again, the law is not keeping up with the technology.

Another Republican believes his civil rights are being violated if he can’t deny others their civil rights.

A Senate committee has given initial approval to a bill allowing people to claim their religious beliefs led them to refuse service to gays or other groups.

The bill pushed by Republican Sen. Steve Yarbrough also broadened a bill that was a vetoed last year to include corporations and other entities.

Civil rights groups are opposed to the bill, saying it will allow discriminatory actions by businesses. Yarbrough says his push was prompted by a New Mexico case where the state Supreme Court allowed a gay couple to sue a photographer who refused to record their wedding.

Senate approves $1.1 trillion spending bill

“A landmark $1.1 trillion spending bill cleared Congress Thursday evening after conservative resistance collapsed in the Senate and tea party favorite Ted Cruz dropped his insistence on a vote on funding for President Barack Obama’s health care plan.

On back-to-back 72-26 roll calls, senators voted to cut off debate and then quickly adopted the bill, which keeps the government funded through September.

(snip)

“Obama’s signature health care and Wall Street reforms will endure but with far less money than he had wanted. About $20 billion is restored for domestic programs cut under sequestration last spring. But measured in real dollars adjusted for inflation, Obama is still left with less than Congress approved six years ago for his Republican predecessor— President George W. Bush.”

Auto show swaps bikinis for a baby bump as heavily pregnant model drives visitors wild as she shows off cars in demure dress

Smart car may have made its smartest move yet, hiring a pregnant model to show how a real-size body can fit into its tiny vehicles.

Colorado-based model Jennifer Parmenter, who is nearly seven months pregnant, fronted the recent auto show in Detroit, and her baby bump — and noticeably absent skimpy outfit —drove some visitors wild.

‘These cars are smaller than any of the others here, and they have real-sized women working, not stick people. I love it,’ visitor Yvonne Logan told Local 4 news.

Miss Parmenter, who works as a product specialist at Engine Shop Agency and GMR Marketing, while modeling in her spare time, proved just how far auto show models have come: transforming from purely pretty faces into trained experts able to answer technical and specific questions.

Attracting young families and handfuls of pregnant women, Smart car drew accolades for Miss Parmenter’s approachable presence.

I actually went and looked at both masturabatory collections of “booth babes” DF linked. A lot of them look like “models” who needed the extra couple hundred bucks to let overweight and undersexed men gawk at them for a few hours. If you look closely, they aren’t smiling because they’re happy.

DKos: Sen. Feinstein: “We cannot let Israel determine when and where the US goes to war.”

Senator Feinstein followed this up by openly rejected the attempt to turn the war power of the US Constitution over to Israel’s current prime minister

Mondowiess: Jon Stewart plays ‘Let’s break a deal’ with AIPAC

He goes off, and rips into Israel reading off Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon’s recent gaffe accusing John Kerry of operating from an incomprehensible obsession and a sense of messianist fervor. The whole thing is priceless. Jon is a national treasure.

MJ Rosenburg: Awesome! Chris Hayes Brilliantly Explains Lobby’s Effort to Sabotage Iran Deal

I happen to agree with Gates, new sanctions should be passed if Iran backs out or cancels the deal, new blanket sanctions probably aren’t a good idea right now and Obama will veto it anyways. However, Feinstein’s statement about allowing Israel dictate US military action is very unhelpful and feeds the fantasies from some very ugly people.

Another SHOT Show item, this one not a firearm:

Action TrackChair: Getting Disabled Hunters Back Out Into The Field

The Action TrackChair was on display at SHOT Show. It allows wheelchair users go off road into the fields or forests to hunt. Optional accessories include a camouflage finish and a gun rack. Its 24 volt DC 24:1 ratio high torque motor give this 390 lbs machine a max speed of 3-4 mph. The two 12 volt wheelchair batteries have a range of up to 6 miles, depending on a number of factors (weight of operator, temperature, terrain etc.). The base model, without any extra features, costs $15,300. -

I used to go to photography/camera shows years back. (I had an old Olympus camera, and that was the only place to find lenses and such before the internet.) Some of them were held in hotels and, for a price, attendees could go to the pool area and photograph the models in swimsuits.

I should add that I was often the only women at these shows, besides an occasional vendor…..and the models.

For no particular reason but to test the code-embedding feature and make sure it still works in comments, here’s the bit of code that shows a message after you tweet a post or Page with the LGF Connect app. The cool part of this is that it proportionally animates the tweet form into the message dialog (in a more polished way than it used to).

The problem I had to solve: since the tweet response could contain an unknown amount of text, the only way to get its dimensions in the browser is to actually insert it into the DOM at some point; until you do that, it has no dimensions. We’re setting the width to a pre-defined 350 pixels, but the height is variable. And until you know the dimensions, you can’t properly center it in the browser window.

So this code clones the tweet dialog, sets its display property to ‘none’, inserts it into the DOM at the bottom of the page (immediately before our HTML5 footer element), inserts the message HTML into the cloned dialog, and then gets the now-correct height of the message dialog.

Then the code ruthlessly deletes the invisible message dialog, and calls jQuery’s animate() method to move the original dialog smoothly from one width/height to another, keeping it centered on-screen throughout the animation.

var oldWidth	= tweetdiv.width(),
	oldHeight	= tweetdiv.height(),
	message		= '<p class="dialogmsg">'+response.message+'</p>',
	tweetclone	= tweetdiv.clone().css({display:'none'}).prependTo('footer').html(message),
	newHeight	= tweetclone.height();
tweetclone.remove();
tweetdiv.css({
	width:	oldWidth,
	height:	oldHeight
}).find('form#tweetform').fadeOut('fast').end().animate({
	width:			350,
	height:			newHeight,
	'margin-top':	-Math.ceil(newHeight / 2),
	'margin-left':	-187
}, {
	done: function() {
		tweetdiv.html(message).find('p.dialogmsg').fadeIn('fast');
	}
});

The Benghazi fake scandal is like a nail being driven into a human forehead, forever.

It’s hard to believe, all the fuss about Benghazi started because Mitt Romney made a graceless, partisan comment about it, less than two months before the 2012 election. Republicans closed ranks and doubled down. If Romney had instead said something like “My heart goes out to the grieving families, and I wish President Obama well as he deals with this,” there would be no “Benghazi talking point” for the right wing.
