Next one up in the Co-Opt MLK Sweepstakes, the always dim-witted Sarah Palin, who uses the occasion of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to accuse President Obama of “playing the race card.”

Mr. President, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. and all who commit to ending any racial divide, no more playing the race card.

This asinine turnspeak is always a winner with the knuckle-dragging right wing base. Here’s a sampling of the comments for her Facebook post, in which complaints about being falsely accused of racism are juxtaposed with incredibly hateful racism, often right next to each other:

No one can prove what race he is…he could just be Arab….a lot of Arabs are mixed. We have seen enough birth certificates and none are accurate. He doesnt even know his exact birthday.
