Erick Erickson’s Bizarre Rant of the Day: Journalists Have “Erections” for Obama

Who peed in Erick’s Cheerios this morning?
Wingnuts • Views: 21,827

Right wing clown Erick Erickson is having a serious fit today over… something. I’ve read this bizarre rant twice now and I still don’t understand what set him off, or if there’s a point at all besides an inchoate scream against the dreaded “liberal media:” ‘Impeach the President’.

Here are some excerpts from this look into the strange sex-obsessed mind of Erick, son of Erick.

The GOP’s idea man, Erick Erickson

You guys in the press who are reading this right now can be such shameless whores.

[…]

…you journalists have such erections for everything Barack Obama does, you can’t even summon outrage to report fairly on the latest b.s. from the administration over Obamacare.

[…]

But now, you’d rather have cocktails (pun absolutely intended for a good portion of you “journalists”) with the President, jealously size up the competition in the First Lady, and wish you too could be a mistress when you see France’s President and whoever the gal of the week is for him.

[…]

But with President Obama, half of MSNBC still wants to have his baby and the women over there just want to be his mistress. Hell, France’s President has one.

Sometimes the only response possible is a hearty… lolwut?!

Erickson, like Bryan Fischer, dreams of erections. He can’t stop thinking about them.

I can only surmise that there’s a highly sophisticated conspiracy that pisses in his breakfast routinely.

18 Norbrook  Wed, Feb 12, 2014 9:52:50am

I think Erick is upset over the press reporting (factually) the Congressional Budget Office’s rebuttal of conservative spin on their report. In his world, the poor would just die quietly and out of sight from their diseases or injuries, instead of cluttering up the perfectly nice hospitals demanding … healthcare.

Please forgive an early OT, but there is breaking news about a terrible catastrophe in Kentucky:

Sinkhole Opens Up at National Corvette Museum, Swallows Cars

No humans were injured, but several priceless Corvettes fell into a giant hole that inexplicably opened in the middle of the museum floor. No doubt Bill Nye and Obama have something to do with it.

33 Mattand  Wed, Feb 12, 2014 10:04:49am

One of the commenters at Erickson’s “editorial” congratulated him on fusing intellect with his emotion.

Just finished listening to last week’s Real Time with Bill Maher and they veered a little bit into Magic Balance Fairy territory while talking with Charlie Crist. The gist of it was that it’s hard to be a true independent because everyone else has dug their heels in with their respective political tribe.

It’s really hard for me, at least, to buy into this line of reasoning when you have people like Erickson and the commenter cited above as opposition.

Their grip on reality is equal parts know-it-all prepubescent, barely restrained bigot and religious fanatic. Call me crazy, but letting that kind of mindset run the country takes us, and possibly a good chunk of the world, over the edge.

I think the time for fence sitting has long been over.

The NWS is pretty much putting 10-14 on everyone in Northern NJ, a thin band of 6-8 inches for NYC and parts of LI, and lesser amounts on the East End of LI. Central and Southern NJ also get significant snows. Inland could see even higher amounts.

I’m expecting to see a foot or more of snow tomorrow.

Bill would ban local ‘living wage’ laws, shelve Milwaukee County idea

The “living wage” ordinance backed by the Milwaukee County Board last week — and others like it — would be barred under legislation up for a hearing Wednesday at the Capitol.

The proposed state measure prohibits local governments from enacting or enforcing a minimum wage law. It also would bar local officials from having residency requirements for workers on public works projects.

State Rep. Chris Kapenga (R-Delafield), the bill’s author, said it was prompted by the pending county wage ordinance as well as long-standing local laws requiring that some public works jobs go to residents.

Conservative principles, local control, blah blah blah. Rinse and repeat.

The same people making those comparisons are those who have no problem comparing modern events to the Holocaust, or political figures to Hitler (auto-Godwin). It shows a complete and utter lack of historical perspective, leaping to unfounded conclusions, and pretzel logic.

And by treating those events as they do, they demean the meaning of those terms (Holocaust, Nazism, Hitler, Stalin, gulags, etc.) and all the suffering they brought.

None of those using these kinds of terms have ever experienced anything even remotely approaching that which Hitler or Stalin wrought. The US government isn’t opening up concentration camps, nor is it preparing to do so.

But ideas that were previously confined to conspiracy news pamphlets get currency on the Internet where people can trumpet the rise of the black helicopters, twitter gulags, and the suspension of democracy in the US so that President Obama can stay in power.

And those conspiracies gain currency every time a site like Drudge or Fox spreads that pablum from InfoWars and drags it into the mainstream - linking or citing to those sites.

Or how about all the corporations that declare bankruptcy, and then become profitable by chopping wages/benefits/unprofitable divisions, reorganizations, etc.

Airlines. Many have been in bankruptcy at least once. GM and Chrysler both emerged from bankruptcy. Twitter and Facebook lost crazy amounts of money getting off the ground. Twitter is still hemmoraging money, but Facebook has finally turned around.

Amazon loses money. It still doesn’t generate a profit.

Then, there’s Donald Trump, whose businesses (including casinos) have been in bankruptcy not once, but four times.

The targets of such attacks often are political activists, human rights workers and journalists, who have learned the Internet allows authoritarian governments to surveil and intimidate them even after they have fled to supposedly safe havens.

That includes the United States, where laws prohibit unauthorized hacking but rarely succeed in stopping intrusions. The trade in spyware itself is almost entirely unregulated, to the great frustration of critics.

“We’re finding this in repressive countries, and we’re finding that it’s being abused,” said Bill Marczak, a research fellow for Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs, which released the report Wednesday. “This spyware has proliferated around the world . . . without any debate.”

The legal problem facing the ACLU and other NSA litigants may be establishing that particular people or organizations have been harmed, points out Adi Robertson on the tech site The Verge.

For members of class action suits “there’s no definitive way to tell whether the NSA actually collected metadata from them, and the claim is too hypothetical for many judges. If Paul wants to go forward with [his] suit, he’ll need to calculate and prove similar damages for every single member of his class,” Robertson writes.

Completely off topic; my opinion of the AAAS has been trending downward the past couple of years, in no small part due to their apparent desire to jump on the attention-grabbing but false headline bandwagon (like every other media outlet.)

Today’s false headline:

Native Americans Descend From Ancient Montana Boy

Now, I would not expect an average online newspaper editor to know the difference, but an AAAS editor ought to know the difference between “descend from” and “be related to”.

Perhaps it’s only because I hold the editors of the publication of America’s largest association of scientists to a higher standard. I guess I should not.

Speaking of media, Reuters goes out of its way to pump up controversy:

Ancient native boy’s genome reignites debate over first Americans

To so strongly overplay the Soultrean idea is to miss the basics of what genetics has already shown. Reuters takes a minor opinion with hardly any evidence and makes it seem like an equivalence to what every other bit of data has shown. This is truly a TEACH THE CONTROVERSY! approach.

Surveys continue to show that employers and business people rank taxes low on the scale of what is important to people looking to start businesses/relocate.

Having an educated workforce and having various cultural activities available comes in ahead, as does mass transit. Relocation because of higher/increased taxes to a low tax state rates well behind things like moving to a warmer climate (and how many people will now move from the weather socked Northeast to the Southwest for warmer climate or from the Southeast to Florida or Southwest for similar reasons).

Derp.

With almost two years still to go before the next presidential election it is impossible to say what new conservative leaders with national potential will emerge—for example, Gov. Susana Martinez of New Mexico, who by being both a Latina and a woman could neutralize a lot of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s appeal.

Neutralize her!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!

We need to apply more Latina!

Susana! Quick! Say something in Spanish!

Kentucky is going to flip that Senate seat blue, ain’t it? I don’t see how McConnell survives the primary now.

McConnell is trailing the Democrat, but McConnell built the Kentucky GOP. He has a huge lead over his Teatard challenger in the last poll, so one errant vote shouldn’t be a problem.

They thought Sarah Palin would make Obama dead meat among women voters. What conservatives don’t understand is they need more than just tokens. They need people who actually understand the issues important ot people. Martinez may be a Latina woman but she may as well be a white guy when it comes to how she approaches the issues.

re: #167 freetoken

This is truly a TEACH THE CONTROVERSY! approach.

“We are all somehow, related to each other and to every living thing on the planet”

Is that a simple enough explanation?

Desptie what they believe about Obama, that’s not how Obama got nominated. For the longest time, Obama struggled with African-Americans when he was contending with Clinton and Edwards.

Surveys continue to show that employers and business people rank taxes low on the scale of what is important to people looking to start businesses/relocate.

Having an educated workforce and having various cultural activities available comes in ahead, as does mass transit. Relocation because of higher/increased taxes to a low tax state rates well behind things like moving to a warmer climate (and how many people will now move from the weather socked Northeast to the Southwest for warmer climate or from the Southeast to Florida or Southwest for similar reasons).

bankrate.com

Nothing like a mass migration to the Southwest just in time to find that there is no water there and the current population density is already borderline unsupportable.

One pulled a sort of “velcro wall” effect yesterday chasing a rubber band that landed hanging down the side of the chair. Sort of threw herself at the side of the chair from two feet away and stuck to the side for 4-5 seconds while she grabbed the end of the rubber band with her teeth.

I only regret not getting video of it.

Alicia Beltran, a pregnant woman in Wisconsin, was ordered by a judge to spend 78 days in a treatment facility or face incarceration because her doctor accused her of drug use. As I’ve previously reported for Salon, Beltran was brought to the court in shackles. She didn’t have a lawyer during the proceedings — but her fetus did.

I’d be shocked if they even nominated a Catholic guy. I really think that played a part in why Santorum didn’t get the nomination in the end. If Santorum were an evangelical like Huckabee, the nomination could very well have been his.

That’s not what she says here:

Martinez told the Journal recently that her responsibility as guardian of her developmentally disabled sister, Lettie, in Las Cruces is one that she can’t take to Washington, D.C., regardless of who calls.
“The family has to be a consideration, and for me to take (my sister) to Washington would be to separate her from … the family that’s down there, and that would be devastating,” Martinez said. “I just couldn’t do it.”

I dunno. He is a national figure, known for his rock-ribbed opposition to Obama, which just fucking evaporated. I am still a bit gobsmacked at how completely the GOP has lost control. They are in 100% survival mode, and making strictly short-term tactical decisions. I keep expecting to see that this is April 1, not February 12th. I cannot believe how thoroughly they’ve fractured as a caucus. The rage from the Teatoddlers is going to be epic, and they’re going to fracture the hell out of that party. They are the kind that break what they can’t have, remember?

And, that because you’ve chosen a low to no-tax area, your kid may well end up nothing more than a janitor in 30 years’ time, because there is not enough of a critical mass of high-paying jobs to keep any serious industry in town.

Most of the braying jackass mythology of the low-taxes crowd is easily disproven by a quick visit to low-tax third-world countries, where everything stinks, the food is unsafe, and you daren’t wander outside of the tourist zone because you are afraid the homeless population will swarm. Taxes are the user fee for not just democracy, but liberty, and civilization itself.

See, it’s funny because Erick is splitting up the compound word “cocktails” into its two halves, “cock” and “tails.”

Punmaster Erick proves that he has a firm grasp of the English language. While some may consider Erick a crank, one don’t have to think long and hard about it to see that his forceful, lengthy diatribe prods at the point that today’s mainstream journalists are in bed with Obama.
