Gov. Scott Walker’s Former Deputy Chief of Staff Praised Racist Emails: “Hilarious And So True”

What Republican racism?
Wingnuts • Views: 18,467

I hope you’re sitting down, because believe it or not, another highly placed, influential Republican official has been caught with racist emails.

WASHINGTON — The deputy chief of staff to then-County Executive Scott Walker praised a racist email forwarded to her in 2010 that joked welfare recipients are “mixed in color, unemployed, lazy, can’t speak English and have no frigging clue who the r [sic] Daddys [sic] are.”

The email tells the story of a dog owner who asks the government for canine welfare checks because the dogs match the criteria detailed above. Kelly Rindfleisch, Walker’s then-deputy chief of staff in 2010, wrote that the email was “hilarious” and “so true.” The email was sent to Rindfleisch from someone outside Walker’s staff.

I hate to quibble, but this stupid joke doesn’t even make sense. The “dogs” can’t sign up for welfare as they don’t have dependents. The welfare recipient in this case would be the teller of the joke, the dog-owner.

From the article:

Rindfleisch’s emails were released to the public as part of the so-called “John Doe investigations” into Walker’s staff. Rindfleisch pleaded guilty in 2012 “to felony misconduct in office for doing campaign work at her government job,” according to Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reporting at the time.

At least she has already pleaded guilty to a felony. This should be another one. It’s a social felony, at least. And a mark of true idiocy.

From one clown to another, Steve Stockman’s campaign decided to fight with Dave Weigel. I know what you’re thinking, but Stockman’s “campaign” chief thinks the best way to campaign is to do so without, actually, campaigning, or having anyone cover the campaign. Weigel pointed out as much, and then came the crazy/reality challenged responses.

That’s probably for the best though, given Stockman’s penchant for lobbing all kinds of crazy (see his twitter feed), so the less he says, the better.

Oh, and then today Stockman tweets out a poll claiming to be ahead of Corwyn, except that it’s 2 months old.

“What the president has been encouraging is for the violence to come to an immediate end and for the government and the opposition to sit down at the table and try to reach a diplomatic solution to this disagreement that would include a unity government, that would allow the country of Ukraine to be nitrated into the international community and to have solid relationships with their neighbours but also to have solid relationships with countries all around the world,” Earnest said.

“I demand that the opposition would never sit down to talks with Yanukovych anymore. Each of us who violates this taboo would become Yanukovych’s accomplice in murder of innocent people,” said the statement posted on Tymoshenko’s web site.

Tymoshenko is the leader of Ukraine’s largest opposition political party, “Fatherland.” A heroine of the 2004 Orange Revolution, she was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2011 for abuse of power. Her supporters say the charges were trumped up by her arch rival, Yanukovych.

With smoke from burning barricades drifting across the city centre’s skyline, the foreign ministers of France, Germany and Poland held a series of crisis talks with the both the Ukrainian president, Viktor Yanukovych, and opposition leaders.

It seems the Eu is taking the lead. Obama plan to “fuck the EU” and go with the UN has yet to materialize but he did call Merkel today to get caught up with their progress.

FEMA is a horse begging to be beaten at these kinds of events. FEMA administers the NFIP, and that’s what the person was complaining about - getting a fraction of what she was supposed to despite having a full policy coverage (amount of which isn’t stated in the article). Instead, she got only $90,000 for structure and contents, which isn’t enough to rebuild and purchase new contents.

Instead of being accurate and pointing out that the NFIP is a political football and that there are people who want to see the subsidies for flood insurance eliminated because it incentivizes people to stay in flood prone areas, rather than relocate to higher ground, and the same areas repeatedly get flooded (causing payouts that have left the program without sufficient reserves), he makes the soundbite.

Congress set up the NFIP. Congress set the parameters of the program and what can be paid out at any one time. There are bureaucratic red tape to deal with, including one that requires homeowners to not begin rebuilding while waiting for the aid to come to them - something that goes back to other natural disasters where that approach was tried and investigators/auditors found fraud involved in the payment/collection/reimbursements. So, you have to wait until they’re ready to cut checks before you can rebuild. It slows everything down.

My Chris Christie anger quotient on this particular story rates around a 3.

It’s far higher when it comes to NJ Transit and his new pick to replace Jim Weinstein (the one who let the rail fleet get flooded, and then who claimed NJT did a great job during the Super Bowl as thousands were stranded for hours waiting for a way in or out of the stadium). That’s about a 9. Christie’s replacement pick isn’t much better, and has a history of not being able to get a project done on time or on budget (for the MTA no less). I give the replacement pick a 8.

That’s a hell of a good question regarding the Ukrainian military. If they side with the protesters, then it’s clearly over for Yanukovych. And how will the Russians respond to such an event? The idea of losing the eastern part of Ukraine, the Crimea, the ports on the Black Sea is - for the Russians - the unthinkable.

Ukrainian military not taking Obama’s calls

Obama looking at range of sanctions on Ukraine violence -White House

The United States has limited power to influence Ukraine, but does have some leverage through long-standing security ties with the country, said Damon Wilson, a former senior director for European affairs at the White House National Security Council.

Keeping up the pressure on Ukraine to keep the military out of the political crisis is “at the top of where the United States has some leverage,” said Wilson, now executive vice president of the Atlantic Council, a think tank.

However, a senior State Department official said on Wednesday U.S. officials are concerned because they had not been able to reach senior Ukrainian military and intelligence officials over the past several days to warn them about military involvement in the protests.

“We have been trying to re-establish those contacts over the last few days, I would say, and nobody’s picking up the phone on the Ukrainian side, which is worrying,” the official said.

At the 2010 United States Census, there were 66,522 people, 23,962 households, and 18,235 families residing in the township. The population density was 1,622.9 per square mile (626.6 /km2). There were 24,959 housing units at an average density of 608.9 per square mile (235.1 /km2). The racial makeup of the township was 93.89% (62,456) White, 1.31% (869) Black or African American, 0.10% (67) Native American, 2.60% (1,730) Asian, 0.01% (8) Pacific Islander, 0.81% (537) from other races, and 1.29% (855) from two or more races. I wasted a 20 minute interview and the hour round trip driving and last week because the employer was looking for an entry level hourly rate, but neglected to mention that insignificant fact in the fucking posting.

I don’t think that was a plan so much as an attitude and an expression of frustration.

No it was an actual plan, they were laying the groundwork for it…..

Nuland told Pyatt she had discussed the plan with U.N. Undersecretary for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman, a former senior U.S. Department official, and that he would appoint a U.N. representative to help move it forward. Vice President Joe Biden would also be brought into the plan at the right time, according to Nuland.

“That would be great to help glue this thing and to have the U.N. help glue it,” she said. “And you know, fuck the EU.”

Apparently we are reading a slightly different article. I don’t see Obama’s name mentioned. And in fact the discussion says they’ll bring in Biden later, implying he didn’t know about this discussion either.

In KT’s defense, that phone call really did take place. I believe Rachel Maddow reported on it.

In your defense, you’re probably right and someone’s looking to get their “Obama’s just as bad as (fill in Republican politician here).”

I’m also pretty sure military officials are strongly discouraged from taking those calls without approval. Those calls, especially on private lines, can include offers of money or vacation homes if the military official agrees to take off next week instead of deploying forces.

From the article.

Russia is a key supporter of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and said Monday it would pay out a second, $2 billion, tranche of a promised $15 billion aid package to the heavily indebted economy. On Wednesday, with Ukraine still waiting for the cash, the Kremlin appeared to be backtracking on that promise as Ukraine was convulsed by violence.

Ukraine’s dollar bonds on Wednesday fell across the curve. The bond maturing in 2023 hit all-time lows of 80.50.

The 2020 dollar bond lost 0.4 cents of a dollar, while 2014 bonds also fell more than 1.5 cents.

The cost of insuring Ukraine’s debt for five years shot up to 1,271 basis points, the highest since December 2009, according to Markit.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch said Ukraine has total maturing debt of about $9 billion this year, out of which Ukraine would have to pay the IMF about $3.6 billion, with the main share of payments due in the first half of 2014.

The country also has to pay $600 million in interest on its external debt in the first half and its $1 billion eurobond due in June. But foreign reserves are at an eight-year low of $18 billion after the central bank has spent about 8 percent of its reserves on currency intervention in January alone.

At this point, Ukraine is basically in default, and I don’t see things improving any time in the near future. If Yanukovych goes, Russia will pull out of that $15 billion deal, and that’s that. If Ukraine were a car, it’s vanity license plate would be PO’ BOY.

Yes, but the concept that we have to be first in line, every time, every conflict, that nothing is being done until we’re doing it and if we let anyone do something before us we are slacking… that’s not the same as having responsibilities. And that’s some of what I have been seeing recently.

Walker Used Illegal Communication System Says Chief Investigator

In the first John Doe investigation, the prosecutors were hot on Scott Walker’s trail.

The chief investigator of the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, David Budde, testified on November 1, 2010, that Walker himself, as Milwaukee county executive, was illegally using the private communication system that his staff had set up.

Budde was asked under oath: “Did you find any e-mails written by the County Executive himself” on “personal laptops in the County Executive’s Office?”

Budde answered with one word: “Yes.”

Creation of the Party of Regions

On November 17, 2000 the 3rd Extraordinary Party Congress adopted the merger of five political parties For Beautiful Ukraine (Leonid Chernovetsky), All-Ukrainian Party of Pensioners (A.Kapusta), Party of Labor (Valentyn Landyk), Party of Solidarity of Ukraine (Petro Poroshenko) and Party of Regional Revival of Ukraine (Volodymyr Rybak) into a new one under the name of Party of Regional Revival “Labor Solidarity of Ukraine”. The co-leaders of the new political polity became Valentyn Landyk, Petro Poroshenko and Volodymyr Rybak. Also prior to the merger the Party of Solidarity of Ukraine was completely abandoned by its base party of Serhiy Dovhan, the Peasant Party of Ukraine which ceased its union with Solidarity. On February 21, 2001 the Ministry of Justice registered the newly established Party of Regional Revival “Labour Solidarity of Ukraine”.

On March 3, 2001 at the 3rd Party Congress the party changed its name to Party of Regions. At the congress Mykola Azarov who at that time was chairman of the State Tax Administration of Ukraine was elected the party leader, but soon resigned in December 2001[24] being replaced by his deputy and at that time Vice Prime Minister Volodymyr Semynozhenko.[25] In the interview to newspaper “Den” (Ukrainian: День) on March 6, 2001 Azarov said that agreed to become the chairman for a brief period of time “until the party nominated a leader who will claim the office of the President of Ukraine in 2004”.[26] In December 2001 the Party of the Regions member Ihor Yushchko was appointed Minister of Finance of Ukraine.[25] On March 21, 2001 the Ministry of Justice re-registered the party under the #939 with the older date of registration.

On May 23, 2001 the party signed an agreement of partnership and cooperation with the party Labour Ukraine (Serhiy Tihipko) and on June 7, 2001 - with the Agrarian Party of Ukraine.

I’m kind of tired of this idea that the US has to be at the forefront of every. single. foreign. policy. crisis. ever.

Two part response, neither of which you need agree as both are my opinion, yada yada (grin).

1. Because we have interests everywhere, every crisis affects us. And historically crises ignored tend to turn into major problems for anyone with even some connection to it. As a consequence we are involved already in almost every foreign policy crisis. The choices at that point become ‘Ignore it and hope it goes away’, ‘stay in the background assisting’, or be in the forefront. Thing is that in general you get the best part of a deal if you’re in the middle of the negotiation. Not always, but usually.

2. We were, and to some extent still are, infatuated with our principle that we have a golden ideal in believing every person has worth, that everyone is endowed with inalienable rights. It is the human and right thing to do to see that our fellow mankind is allowed those rights. Almost every crisis, certainly all those from political machinations, are in the end one group suppressing those rights in others. Thus we must be involved.

Thus both moral and practical walk hand in hand, and we are involved in every foreign policy crisis that comes along.

Currently reinstalling Widows XP. The thing thats sucks is that I share an network connection with her so she can access the internet.

Now I have to figure out a way to tell her that if she has these sort of problems, please let me know, because going to outside can have all sorts reprecussions.

Oh and the old HD? It’s going into a old box as a secondary drive to be examined. If there is ANYTHING I consider suspcious it gets turned over to the cops.
