Right Wing Bloggers Ranting in Unison; Never Gets Old

FEAR THE GIANT BIRTH CONTROL PENIS CAKE

Well, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer really poked a stick into the right wing hive mind by vetoing the Republican attempt to enshrine anti-gay bigotry as “religious freedom.” Today the wingnut blogosphere is absolutely full of out of control unison ranting, but my favorite loony comments so far come from … who else? … the crackpots of breitbart.com.

First, the penetrating intellect of John Nolte, who asks the only question that really matters:

Followed by Child of the Damned Ben Shapiro:

You damned dirty fascists!

To which I can only add:

Would left support the AZ law if it were restricted to same-sex marriage participation? Of course not. Fascists.

I can’t make this out. Can anyone translate?

I think one of the criticisms of the AZ bill was that it was not specific enough about who they wanted to discriminate against, whereas the Kansas bill spelled it out. Ben’s booboo is that it wasn’t liberals who were criticizing it for that.

How much of this is failure to think it through, and how much is willful ignorance?

Most of it is a failure to think things through. The rest is raging stupidity.

It’s like the dipshits who think that it should be okay for a kosher or halal business to make them something with bacon in it as long as they provide the bacon to them because special orders exist, and that anything less is religious bigotry. Not if they can make an outlandish claim that their friends can retweet.

How much of this is failure to think it through, and how much is willful ignorance?

It varies from person to person, and for some it’s complete cynicism - they KNOW that Woolworth’s lunch counters weren’t required to serve whatever black patrons wanted, just what was on the menu, for example.

0651 GMT: Russian planes landing in Crimea:

Below a translation from Urainskaya Pravda about Russian military planes landing in Crimea:

Russian airplanes are landing in Crimea from the direction of Russia, and a column of APCs is heading from the east toward Simferopol.

There are reports of at least 5 large IL-76 planes landing in the district of the military airfield in the town of Gvardeyskoye.

Various sources are reporting that a column of 10 Russian APCs is heading from Sevastopol toward Simfereopol.

Interfax Ukraine reports that all air traffic is halted at the Belbek Airport in Sevastopol due to the seizure of the landing strip by unknown persons.

“There are about 400 people now in the Belbek airport. They have occpuied the landing strip and any movement of planes is stopped,” said a source.

Well, sure. Something as important as protecting the religious liberties of what would no doubt be a vanishingly small minority of religious Arizonans is nothing when the money that could be made from the Super Bowl is concerned. Right. Sen. McCain is a principled politician; the quality of his principles are another question.

This story could hardly be a clearer demonstration of the fact that, contrary to what so many conservative Americans wish to believe, the corporate class is no friend of traditional religion. In fact, as the Politico story makes clear, American business leaders are a far greater threat to Christian morality than all the faculties of all the universities in the country.

Why not unilaterally annex the remaining part of the Ukraine, appoint Mitt Romney dicatator so that they can learn how a *real* robber baron works, and then start a massive military build-up there contracted through Halliburton so that Chysler, Boeing, etc. can make a pile of bucks.

If this story from Arizona, and the role that corporate America has played and is playing in destroying traditional Christian social morality, doesn’t reveal to social and religious conservatives the pathetic naivete of believing that the interests of capitalism align with the interests of Christianity, then they are simply ineducable fools.

In modern times, the Republican Party has been composed of a fusion of social conservatives, businessmen, and defense hawks. Social conservatives are the useful idiots in this troika. The problem is, there’s nowhere for us to go, politically, so our leaders and those they lead see no alternative to behaving like the beaten wife. We bark, but both the Republican and the Democratic trains in the progressivist caravan move on.

167 kirkspencer  Fri, Feb 28, 2014 12:14:25pm

1. I do not think the US will respond unilaterally. In addition to the political issues and the underlying Nuke vs Nuke issue is the absolute problem of logistics.

2. The wild card is Poland. Polish involvement removes the logistics problem. It also unfortunately kicks things in to a level of political requirements that are pretty significant; echoing some of the WWI issues.

I’m speaking of NATO’s article 5, aka the “musketeer” clause. One for all, all for one, mutual defense and support in the event of military conflict. Notionally that’s why the NATO council discusses whether NATO gets involved in various international conflicts. Practically, nobody’s ever tested whether an attack by one means the others have to be dragged in as well.

It’s a gray area. Realistically it doesn’t have to do so, and politicians can wiggle and if needed force a re-write or codicil. Legalistically, however, failing to do so is a violation of the treaty and raises the question of its usefulness in any other situation. End result: depends on how everyone thinks everyone else will jump.

The problem with brinksmanship is sometimes the brink isn’t where you think. If we’re lucky you just stumble.

Protip: Make sure they’re outside the city walls.

The Byzantines knocked off a commander they didn’t like. Didn’t work out so great.

The Company proceeded to devastate the regions of Thrace and Macedonia for the next two years, including an attack on Mount Athos. Until recently no Catalans were allowed on the Athos peninsula by the Athonite monks. However in the past few years and following the payment of reparations by the Catalan government this situation has changed.

Ukrainian Interim President:

“Under the guise of military exercises, Russia has brought troops into the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. And not only have they seized the parliament of the Crimea, the Council of Ministers of the Crimea, they are trying to take civilian buildings under control, communications, and trying to block places where Ukrainian soldiers are based,” he said in an appeal to the nation.

“They are provoking us to military conflict. According to information from our intelligence, they are working out scenarios that are completely analogous to Abkhazia, when after provoking a conflict, they began annexation of territory,” the acting president emphasized.

Our church is big enough for heterosexuals and homosexuals, for the pro-life and the pro-choice! For conservatives and liberals, even communists are welcome and have joined us. See, this is why I think Putin is nowhere near as smart as we think he is.

He has left a portion of the Russian military between 2 nations that are now very pissed off at Russia. In a landlocked region which can only accessed by road or air.

Which Ukraine and Moldova can deny access to.

Essentially, Ukraine has about 1,200 hostages who can now be denied support.

How much of this is failure to think it through, and how much is willful ignorance?

Why? A couple of years ago I posted a link about some crazy right-wing Christian stuff that turned out to be one of those parody sites. I’ll bet everyone here has been taken in at some point, whether they’re willing to admit it or not.

There’s no shame in being wrong if you accept it and admit it—there’s shame when someone refuses to admit they were fooled, or when they point & laugh at someone who was fooled even though they themselves have also experienced it. The biggest shame is that Poe’s law seems to be in effect 24/7, therefore it’s become nearly impossible to distinguish between parody & reality.

France striving to stop C.African Republic split, Hollande says

President Francois Hollande told the Central African Republic on Friday that French troops stationed there would work to stop the country splitting in two and disarm militias and bandits fighting local Muslims.

Arriving in Bangui from Nigeria, where he attended an event marking the centenary of its unification, Hollande met interim President Catherine Samba-Panza and addressed French troops.

France’s parliament voted on Tuesday to extend the troops’ mission, despite tepid popular support at home for a military operation in the former French colony where thousands of people have been killed and around a million forced from their homes.

This is a pretty damning article, I have to say. Sure makes Marcy Wheeler look like the complete tool she is.

281 Charles Johnson  Fri, Feb 28, 2014 1:04:32pm
Just hours after last weekend’s ouster of Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych, one of Pierre Omidyar’s newest hires at national security blog “The Intercept,” was already digging for the truth.

Marcy Wheeler, who is the new site’s “senior policy analyst,” speculated that the Ukraine revolution was likely a “coup” engineered by “deep forces” on behalf of “Pax Americana”:

“There’s quite a bit of evidence of coup-ness. Q is how many levels deep interference from both sides is.”

These are serious claims. So serious that I decided to investigate them. And what I found was shocking.

Wheeler is partly correct. Pando has confirmed that the American government - in the form of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) - played a major role in funding opposition groups prior to the revolution. Moreover, a large percentage of the rest of the funding to those same groups came from a US billionaire who has previously worked closely with US government agencies to further his own business interests. This was by no means a US-backed “coup,” but clear evidence shows that US investment was a force multiplier for many of the groups involved in overthrowing Yanukovych.

But that’s not the shocking part.

What’s shocking is the name of the billionaire who co-invested with the US government (or as Wheeler put it: the “dark force” acting on behalf of “Pax Americana”).

Step out of the shadows…. Wheeler’s boss, Pierre Omidyar.

Bam. That’s gotta sting.

They should prove to me that they are Christian, and I’ll use the same bullshit arguments against them as they use against Obama.

The Klan would have every right to their cake, if the guy is licensed to sell cakes. Might be stupid to eat it, though.

I dunno ‘bout that, the guy who ordered a Hitler cake got a visit from Child Protective Services. He didn’t get the cake either.
