Definitely the Dumbest Right Wing Rant of the Week: Todd Starnes on “Hispanic Cheese”

Fox News star lapses into paranoid fugue state while shopping
Wingnuts • Views: 23,493

Fox News loon Todd Starnes is one of those right wingers so deranged that all you can do is laugh when he pens one of these incredibly stupid “opinion” pieces: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to a Ham Sandwich.

Starnes is so consumed by his paranoid persecution fantasies, he can’t even go to the grocery store without encountering imaginary repression. I almost feel sorry for the guy; it must be miserable to be this obsessed.

I was about check out when I suddenly remembered that I needed some cheese.

So I made a beeline for the dairy aisle and that’s when I made a startling discovery. I brought my three-wheeled shopping cart to a screeching halt. I came face to face with a massive sign bearing giant letters.

It read: “HISPANIC CHEESE.”

I stared at the display for quite some time. I found myself drifting into an imaginary conversation with a store clerk…

“Do you need some help, sir?”

“Yes. Could you tell me where you keep the Caucasian cheese?”

“I’m sorry, sir but we don’t carry Caucasian cheese - although, we do have a rather nice selection of white cheddars.”

I was tempted to purchase some “Hispanic” cheese, but I feared retribution at the checkout counter. What if the clerk confronted me about trying to purchase a cheese that was contrary to my ethnicity?

Definitely the dumbest thing you’ll read this week.

Sofa king stupid.

He claims the cheeses are segregated because he sees the big sign. Looking at his own photo, you can see the cheeses are totally integrated. I’m sure that’s what really bothers him. Yes, groceries that might appeal to an ethnicity not his own RIGHT THERE NEX TO MAH VELVEETA!!!!1!

What must it be like to be so stupid, so insipidly vacuous, that “hispanic cheese” immediately brings you to a full stop to consider the racial implications and how you’re so poor and oppressed for being a male WASP?

I hope I never find out.

There is noting left of US conservatism except appeals to mindless tribalism. The brain-eating zombies invited to the party by the Southern strategy and the appeals to the religious right have won.

Personally, I love when during an argument, they whine about things I’ve never said.

“You’re picking on Christians but you defend Muslim atrocities!”
“Show me where I ever once defended that.”
“You want to ban all guns.”
“Where in my comments about the need for better regulations have I ever said ban all firearms?
“LIBTARD! FOAD!”

And yet conservatives consider themselves such reasoned, thoughtful souls.

70 The Ghost of a Flea  Thu, Mar 27, 2014 1:12:27pm

Actual analysis of this sad/pathetic scenario from someone who loves him some freakin’ queso:

He’s clearly in a store that has purchased a second-hand open-front refrigeration unit. The “Hispanic cheeses” depicted on it are clearly things in the family of queso fresco and queso de Oaxaca, which are harder to categorize because of the variety of regional styles with only slight differences in texture and saltiness…hence the bland, general label of “Hispanic cheese” since versions are made all through South and Central America, based somewhat on Spanish fresh cheeses. That’s not what’s in the cabinet, though: the cheese actually in the unit is a standard mix of brand-name bagged, shredded cheeses, plus blocks of cheese that, from size/shape/label, are likely conventional European cheeses like cheddar.

So, basically, his head scenario involves ignored all actual context and detail to permit some kind of lesson about PC gone mad. Because nothing affronts the dignity of the white man likes ethnic dairy products.

Yeah I don’t understand how a term that gets its name from mountains where Russia meets Asia is used for people of Western European decent essentially but race is so stupid anyhow. And as I said, Hispanic is more a cultural term than it is racial. Hispanics can be white like the present pope or they can be black like Roberto Clemente. It’s not a race.

Wisc. Republican accuses Dem of ‘murdering’ grandkid to deflect cat leg-breaking conviction

Earlier this week, the Green Bay Press-Gazette asked County Board candidate Jason Wisneski about a 2008 conviction for animal mistreatment for breaking his cat’s legs. Although Wisneski denied breaking his cat’s legs, he spent three days in jail after pleading guilty.

In response, Wisneski pointed to a 2007 tragedy, when his Democratic opponent, state Senator Dave Hansen, accidentally killed his 23-month-old granddaughter while backing out of the driveway.

“It’s funny how they never bring up Dave Hansen murdering his grandchild though,” Wisneski wrote in a post on the Press-Gazette’s website.

Wisneski’s wife, Monica Podgurski-Wisneski, added: “Hanson is a murderer but because of who he is and his money he got away with it. Yet liberals forgive the child killer. Can you say hypocrisy?”

When the invitation was revoked, Mayor Jay Dean said that Nugent’s concert “didn’t really fit what we trying to put together, a family oriented program…and I confirmed with his thoughts that that probably wasn’t the right act. And I still feel that it was the right decision. It just didn’t fit with what we were trying to put together.”

On Saturday, Nugent told the Forth Worth Star-Telegram that the real reason for the revocation of the offer was that Mayor Dean is racist. “I hear from reliable sources that the mayor is a racist and was offended that my band performs mostly African-American-influenced music,” he said.

Oddly enough, Maricopa, AZ isn’t located in Maricopa County, stomping grounds of the most racist Sheriff in America, Joe Arpaio. The town is fairly close (within 10 miles) of the county border, however, so it wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume that the two are associates of each other.

No, but I can say “Republicans are fucking douchebags”. Is that close enough?

Yeah, this went well beyond the realm of bad taste.
It also looks like the county Republican Party can see the defamation lawsuit coming from a mile away, and have told Wisenski to resign from his party leadership position.

The Brown County Republican Party has called on Wisneski to resign from his leadership position with the party.

“We were extremely disappointed to learn of comments made recently by candidate Jason Wisneski in reference to Senator Dave Hansen and his family,” party Chairman Mark Becker said in a statement. “His comments are beneath the character standards we have set and we denounce them wholeheartedly.”

“And effective immediately, I have requested the resignation of Mr. Wisneski from affiliation with the Brown County Republican Party.”

Obamacare tops 6 million signups

More than 6 million people have signed up for Obamacare, as a crush of people raced to get health insurance before the March 31 deadline.

President Obama announced the milestone Thursday in a call with enrollment counselors and outreach volunteers, who are undertaking an intense marketing drive in the final days of open enrollment. There were more than 1.5 million visits to healthcare.gov and more than 430,000 calls to the call centers on Wednesday.

On a side note, that’s one call center that I don’t think they could pay me enough to work in.

It read: “HISPANIC CHEESE.”

I stared at the display for quite some time. I found myself drifting into an imaginary conversation with a store clerk…

“Do you need some help, sir?”

“Yes. Could you tell me where you keep the Caucasian cheese?”

He will testify against the 25-year-old Dutro, who prosecutors said ran her family “like an army” but took discipline to abusive extremes.

Authorities said her 7-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son showed signs of abuse, including multiple fractured ribs for the younger boy.

Only Dutro and Canady’s shared biological child, an infant, was uninjured, investigators said.

The daughter told investigators that her mother had beaten her, and she said both Dutro and Canady had beat her brother before he died.

Unfortunately there isn’t a special place in hell for those 2. But none of those kids should never have to see either of them again. I’m wondering if anyone outside of that family unit knew something and didn’t talk?

It wouldn’t bother me in the least to see anyone who is guilty of felony child abuse or a child’s death have to undergo sterilization. I don’t care what kind of “problems” they have. Get them help in prison if they’re convicted and while on probation or parole. But they should never be around a child again.

Even though I’ve said that, I really don’t know what the answer is, though, but children are our future and to treat them that way is asking for a bleak one.

Nothing about Russia in there. Turks have been leaking info about their government for a while now, this is just the latest, and not directly about corruption this time.

Previous leaks have largely exposed issues of corruption within the Erdogan administration and been seen as a way to undermine support for the prime minister.

Map 3: 1920

While women’s suffrage passed in 1920, there were still huge impediments to minorities to vote during that period, for instance in the form of poll taxes (only finally outlawed by the 24th Amendment in 1964). So here’s a version of the map that shows only white voters, men and women.

I don’t have time to go on a hunt, but as a graphic artist I think I could make a safe bet one could find a similar illustration that would be US of A based and use an eagle, the flag and a family. Might find an old war poster from WW2 that would be very similar. I used to have a book on all the graphic symbology used in war propaganda, might even be in there. There are probably Japanese, Chinese, British on and on.

Guns on modern jets are mounted in the wing root. It took me a while to realize this given that the A-10 and many older aircraft (like the F-86) have nose-mounted guns.

A Wichita mural that declares “Immigration Is Beautiful” has been vandalized for the second time in five weeks.
The mural depicts a map of the United States, with images of the Statue of Liberty and two people wrapped in the U.S. and Mexican flags. It’s located outside a store in the northern part of Wichita.
Two swastiskas were painted on the mural late Monday or early Tuesday. Artists had recently cleaned the design of racist, anti-immigration and homophobic graffiti painted on it in mid-February.

Got to go into the City today for a Book Talk. Jenny Bowen talked about her book Wish You Happy Forever: What China’s orphans taught me about moving mountains.

She also talked about the NGO she started called Half The Sky.

A filmmaker, she made a short video that is not yet available on youtube. It was very good and I wish I could share it here. Jenny said she was going to wait until the book tour is over before releasing the video.

in 16 years she went from middle-class adoptive mother to this:

In 2007 Jenny was awarded the American Chamber of Commerce’s Women of Influence Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Hong Kong, In 2008 she received the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, she carried the Olympic Torch on Chinese soil, and in the same year Half the Sky became one of only a handful of foreign NGOs officially recognized and legally registered by the Chinese government. She serves on China’s National Committee for Orphans and Disabled Children and on the Expert Consultative Committee for Beijing Normal University’s Philanthropy Research Institute.

There are times when the only way to drink gin, or whatever strong alcohol you have available, is straight and plentiful.

The times (and gins) I can do straight are very, very few.

Mostly because all I get is the ow and not so much the wonderful flavor.

Basically the 5C’s argument is that if a single clinic remains operating in the state of Texas, then women have “reasonable access.”

429 Gus  Thu, Mar 27, 2014 4:43:22pm

He got a “doctorate” from this place:

In 2008, Alabama, which had been a haven for substandard schools, began implementing a new rule that private, degree granting, post-secondary educational institutions must be accredited by a recognized agency or be a candidate for accreditation. As of October 1, this requirement applied to any such institution that applies for initial licensure or renewal [15]. Clayton’s license was due to expire on December 1, 2008, but the Alabama Community College Web site indicates that it was renewed until January 31, 2011. Clayton was able to remain licensed by becoming a candidate for accreditation by the Distance Education and Training Council for a new program that would lead to a bachelor’s degree in nutrition. However, it had to drop its naturopathy program.

In July 2010, the Birmingham News revealed that Clayton was “preparing to cease operations” and its demise was the result of the economic recession [16]. However, former employees have told me that there were other factors.

In November 2010, a class-action suit was filed on behalf of an estimated 5,000+ people who had enrolled in CCNH and submitted most or all of their tuition in advance. The suit alleges that CCNH had refused to refund tens of millions of tuition dollars for programs that were not completed [17].

Damn… now you got me thinking I might want to fix up a stuffed poblano pepper, maybe with beef and rice, some cumin, oregano, onion….. and some refried beans along side.

Off to the food store to get the fixings.

RBS

FWIW… This came out just like I had hoped. Now I have to jot down what I did so that I can make it in the future. Nice taste, just a hint of some warmth, a nice smoky rich flavor from some smoked paprika, the poblanos have a great taste when they soften up, get nice and mellow.

I’ll give this on 5 stars.

Sometimes, human beings do good things.

Now I have a new book on my reading list. Thanks!

There has been FUD about China banning banks from handling any accounts that deal with Bitcoin, and that all banks and third-party payment processors must cease dealing with China’s Bitcoin exchanges by April 15. The exchanges, on the other hand, say they’ve heard nothing about. Since Chinese are major players in the Bitcoin markets, the price has tanked worldwide in the last two days.

That column is ample evidence that it’s not possible to die of shame. What a fucking hack.
