Rush Limbaugh Says Stephen Colbert Is Destroying Traditional American Values

Predictions of doom sell well to scared people
Wingnuts • Views: 18,824

Media Matters

Rush Limbaugh reacts to the announcement that Stephen Colbert will replace David Letterman with the usual dire predictions of the end of American “traditional values,” the same old snake oil Limbaugh’s been tirelessly selling the right wing base for 25 years now.

I’ll give you the short version: CBS has just declared war on the heartland of America. There is a… no longer is comedy going to be a covert assault on traditional American values, conservatism. Now it’s just wide out in the open. What this hire means is a redefinition of what is funny and a redefinition of what is comedy. And it’s, it’s a, they’re blowing up the 11:30 format under the guise that the world’s changing, and uh, people don’t want the kind of comedy that Carson gave us or even Letterman, ehh, they don’t want that any more.

It’s uh, it’s, it’s media plantin’ a flag here. It’s an, I think, maybe even media’s last stand, but it’s, it’s a declaration.

So Rush is nostalgic for David Letterman now, eh? Ah yes, those golden moments of traditional 11:30 comedy, lost in the mists of yesteryear:

Traditional American value of conservatism?

You keep using that phrase. It doesn’t mean what you think it means.

Meh. Conservative have zero grasp of comedy to begin with.

4 HappyWarrior  Apr 10, 2014 11:34:33am

Rush Limbaugh really is the last person who should be talking about traditional values. Limbaugh’s made a living out of being a modern day Father Coughlin bigot playing up to the bigotry that exists within the Republican Party and conservative movement. Colbert is what Limbaugh’s fans claim he is, a really good satirist.

Let’s see though “traditional values.” One of Rush Limbaugh and Stephen Colbert is on his fourth wife and was found to have a bunch of viagra on a trip without his wife to the D.R and the other is a father of three who teaches Sunday School.

A case in point…
Bob Cesca:

We Watched the Psychotic ‘Blow Your Balls Off’ Campaign Ad So You Don’t Have To
“…Bear in mind, while describing this horrifying tragedy, the wacky, whistly music is still playing in the background. But yes, there it is: perhaps the first ever usage of the word “balls” in a political campaign. And it’s not just tossed in there in a silly way, Quast uses it in the context of describing how he intends to blow the balls off the rapist and murderer who killed his sister. In other words, he uncomfortably and awkwardly shoehorns the death of his sister into what’s supposed to be a funny commercial. Worse, just after he delivers the “blow your balls off” line, he grins ear-to-ear and an animated sparkle appears on his teeth accompanied by a crystalline “ding!” sound effect.”

O/T: The worst part about Heartbleed is that, as I go through a few months from now(!) and update all of my passwords, I will once again be reminded just how many companies still cling to the grossly inefficient “6 to 10 characters of three character classes” model for passwords instead of the vastly superior four-word system (which requires 20~40 character passwords which the vast majority of their databases aren’t set up to support). Time to get depressed about the state of security all over again!

Make a joke — as in, one that has an actual punchline, rather than the “conservative humor” style of “throw vile epithets at people” — about America. Watch all that “anti-PC” stuff just melt right off of them.

heh…

Disgraced “academic” Mark Regnerus slid yet further into ignominy on Wednesday after defenders of Utah’s doomed gay marriage ban expunged all references to his debunked study in their brief. The state, which is currently defending the invalidated ban before the Tenth Circuit, had cited Regnerus in two footnotes in a previously filed brief, and structured much of its argument around the conclusions of Regnerus’ work, which asserts that gay couples make inferior parents. Now the state is asking the Tenth Circuit to pretend those footnotes don’t exist, a last-minute revision made “in response to recent press reports and analysis of the study by Professor Mark Regnerus.”

Petition Demanding Removal Of Condoleezza Rice From Dropbox Board Pops Up Online, On Twitter

The petition is hosted on a domain whose registration has been shielded by Domains By Proxy, but some of the first tweets and references to the site are found here on Reddit and on this anonymous Twitter account called @TheAnonNation, suggesting an affiliation with the loosely organized internet activists Anonymous, though not one of its “official” accounts. (i.e. @YourAnonNews has not referenced the campaign at this point.)

However, the campaign has already started making its mark on Twitter, where a number of users have begun retweeting the #DropDropbox hashtag to @Dropbox and its founder Drew Houston. While the tag is not trending on Twitter at this point, roughly 300 tweets came in over the past 30 minutes, indicating some sort of viral pick-up and spread here.

In the case of Internet activism, it’s often a vocal minority that makes waves, calling attention to its cause, while a larger majority is either uncaring or oblivious to the issue at hand. Whether or not that’s the case this time around remains to be seen.

Right Wing Humor is just plain generally brain dead and dull. It makes for very boring TV.

An adviser to Greg Abbott, the Republican candidate for Texas governor, said this week that he had found no “evidence” to prove that any woman had been a “significant original thinker in any of the world’s great philosophical traditions.”

In audio obtained by the Burnt Orange Report, American Enterprise Institute scholar Charles Murray can be heard explaining to an audience at the University of Texas that his views on women had not changed since a 2005 paper, in which he asserted that one or “maybe” two women had played significant roles in the field of philosophy.

Cool image. However, I detect a minor error.

When the Sun finally enters its red giant phase, it will boil away all the waters on our little planet, the oceans, the whole enchilada.

If I’m not mistaken, that looks like a river meandering through the image.

In any event, yep…….by that point in time, if humans haven’t either migrated to another planet, or most likely, gone extinct, there will indeed be no trace of our existence whatsoever. Even the Pyramids of Giza will be long gone. It will be as though as humanity never existed.

So the phone interview is done. It was less of an interview and more of an informal chat, which was nice. The GM up in Seattle told me that the reviews I got from the folks here in Austin were glowing. They really liked me, thought I did a fantastic job on their tests, and they felt strongly that I was one of, if not the strongest candidate for the job.

He basically just wanted to be sure about my level of interest because he was worried that I’m overqualified for the part and that I’d lose interest and run in a month and force them back into a hiring pattern when they need someone yesterday for the job. I told him that while I might be overqualified for a straight up marketing research role, I don’t know anything about their specific field, so the job would be a great opportunity to grow and learn, both in that field and in general. Also, down the line there could be room for growth or for the role to expand even if the short term was eyeball-sporking levels of tedium and staring at Excel, and I’m interested to see where things will go. I must have said the right thing, because he agreed with me and even talked about some of the ways that the position could evolve.

He still has some other people to talk to, but I’ll know early-to-mid week next week if I’m moving ahead. I’m feeling really confident now, but it’s not in stone until the offer comes in.

More News Heralding The Imminent Death Of California Which Will Soon Be A Giant Desert Populated Only By Unemployed People On Welfare

Aerospace giant Boeing Co., which for years has been cutting its workforce in Southern California, announced that it plans to increase its engineering workforce in Long Beach and Seal Beach by 1,000 positions over the next two years.

It is a surprising announcement from the plane maker, which has 1,800 commercial engineers in Long Beach and Seal Beach. The company said earlier in the week that it would shutter its C-17 production line three months earlier than planned in mid-2015.

After years of moving work away from Southern California, Boeing has signaled its intentions to reinforce its presence. Last year, Boeing said it would move about 675 jobs to the region — many from the Puget Sound area around Seattle.

In May, Boeing announced the establishment of a new engineering design center for commercial aircraft. At that time, it also announced that engineering support for out-of-production airplanes would be based at the center.

The company’s announcement Thursday indicates that much of the work on next-generation aircraft will transition from Washington state to California by the end of 2015.

“We will be expanding our presence in Southern California to create a site dedicated to a superior customer experience,” Lynne Thompson, a Boeing commercial airplanes vice president, said in a statement. “This move will allow us to tap into existing engineering talent in California to expand on our outstanding customer support and align resources in a single location.”

GOP’s Mike Ellis caught on recording talking of illegal fundraising

Secret recordings released Wednesday by a nationally known conservative group revealed state Senate President Mike Ellis discussing setting up an illegal political action committee to attack his Democratic opponent.

Ellis, a Neenah Republican facing his first challenger in 16 years, in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel acknowledged he made the comments about two weeks ago at a hotel bar across the street from the Capitol. He said he had learned the next day his proposal was illegal and did not pursue it.

“Ellis has been pretty vocal on this issue (of campaign finance reform), and the hypocrisy was pretty out in the open,” said conservative activist James O’Keefe, head of Project Veritas, which made the recording. “He was talking in a bar, and it was something that was easy to catch.”

-Asked by someone else in the studio, “Do we have to learn Spanish?” Mr. McDaniel replied, “Yes, regrettably…You’ll have to learn just enough to ask where the bathroom is. Baños. Baños. That’s what you say.”

-Mr. McDaniel then asked someone to translate, “Do you have a sister?” “What about mamacita?” he offered. “Mamacita works….I’m an English-speaking Anglo. I have no idea what it means, actually, but I’ve said it a few times, just for, you know, fun. And I think it basically means, ‘Hey, hot mama.’ Or, you know, ‘You’re a fine looking young thing.’”
