Courageous Patriotic Bundy Ranch ‘Militia’ Planned to Use Women as Human Shields

Yes, they went there, and even bragged about it on Fox News
Wingnuts • Views: 22,651

The noble, courageous American patriots fighting against tyranny at the Bundy Ranch moronic convergence were planning to use women as human shields.

“We were actually strategizing to put all the women up at the front,” Mack said in a Fox News clip pulled by The Blaze. “If they are going to start shooting, it’s going to be women that are going to be televised all across the world getting shot by these rogue federal officers.”

Smell the bravery.

Yeah let’s ignore their own words. These guys suck. They want blood. They remind me of someone I knew who once said that he didn’t think Civil War would be “so bad” for the country.

Whiny ‘Sheriff’ Mack, haz a sad that the sheriff of Clark County, NV, is NOT an Oathkeeper, even though the Oathkeepers were founded there. They are running an Oathkeeper candidate to replace him in the next election.

Doesn’t matter how many people call bullshit on the story, it’ll be taken as gospel going forward that Reid ordered the BLM to drive Bundy off his land so the Chinese could build a solar farm. It hits all the points that wingnuts and dudebros alike love: “Big Government” colluding with “Big Business” against a “heroic patriot,” corrupt politicians, “the other” (i.e. the Chinese), and of course the idea that Bundy did nothing at all to bring this upon himself.

19 Kragar  Apr 14, 2014 7:01:19pm

But remember, the Federal agents were the cowards who backed down.

Fucking scum. The Oath Keepers and their backers are finally crossed the line from lunatic fringe to terrorist activity as far as I’m concerned.

20 jaunte  Apr 14, 2014 7:02:11pm

So, I just took a look at the desert tortoise range
( interactive map here:
lcrmscp.gov )

MASSI: As Eric just said, the present director of the Bureau of Land Management is Harry Reid’s former political adviser. And it’s been reported, whether it’s true or not, one of the things that the ranchers have said — and I’ve interviewed Ryan, who’s the son of Mr. Bundy, his sister Susan — that they believe that there’s plans out here for some solar energy projects out here that Reid has basically endorsed. There’s one at State Line in Nevada, there’s one in San Bernardino.

Here’s the Desert Tortoise range in Nevada. Nowhere near StateLine (which is up by Reno) or San Bernardino.

It helps to remember that Bundy didn’t “win” a damned thing, he just sent the BLM back to the drawing board. The fines are still there, as are the court orders, and both will spell his eventual doom. Between freezing his assets, putting a lien on his property, and charging him with contempt of court, there’s numerous ways to skin this cat.

28 wrenchwench  Apr 14, 2014 7:12:55pm

Of course, if you want the REAL story:

Hello Jean:

The sad reality is in my humble opinion based on extensive travel in USA there is not one state in the USA that is a safe living space. You are all better off living in Russia and believe me they have plenty of space. There is brusque honesty there. But it’s darn real.

Nevada as a state is part of the Crown Temple and the constitution of the United States Of America (and as a result the peoples of America) is/are fully owned lock stock and barrel by the Crown Temple Bar in London. So guess what guys and gals your darn slaves to the Queen of England (The German) and the Slave Despots who worship Satan in the Vatican who have you as their puppets on their paedophile strings whether you like it or not.

Nevada is also a front for offshore companies for tax dodges and to get money out of USA. The Cabals have to have a way you can join them and this is one of them. Beside you have an Oligarch who is a serious dirt bag running some of the show in Vegas. There was a recent article from you on this Jean. We forget that the Mafia (whether Italian or Khazarian or related) is still a bunch of “artists” (sorry I am being a cynic) with a real nasty agenda

Also understand Area51 is seriously linked to the problem in Nevada and fracking is the future downfall of USA and supports Agendfa21 fully 100% as it ensures depopulation through poisoned ground water. Just look at an infrared map of Colorado after the recent floods there and you can clearly see the fracking wells is a serious mess. And you guys are drinking this water further downstream out of the Colorado river whether directly or via plants on the western seaboard. This is another form of GMO ~ Bioengineering to be precise. Please read Area51 by Annie Jacobsen. Whilst I think she was spoon fed stuff (I am being kind to you Annie) to make Area51 become a “hero’s acre” in the eyes of the American Jo Sheeples Public there is enough stuff in the book to get a person with two brain cells rubbing together to understand what Majestic 12 has done thus far which is to ensure the galaxy Gaia Earth is unliveable as an ecosystem.

This is one of the reasons why I constantly state categorically that the Second World War did not end in 1945 but ran into the planned third world war with the Majestic idiots and others similarly dastardly minded at the helm and sadly most slaves and puppets on strings have not figured this out yet.

Civil war is what the cabal wants “futuret”…. They make more money while you die fighting as citizens against a hidden government that is unseen with technology that would make cringe with fear if you knew that they had it ~ Modern sophisticated weapons of torture just like the last say 2,000 years of torture endured by men and women ~ the stake being a good example. And worst of all is that “Jo Sheeples American Public ” paid in US Dollars (Fed Money) for this to all happen in the first place!! Yup you guys and gals paid for it!!

So when some states in the “US of Duck Shoot A” say they have been planning a way out for 40 or more years the question you REALLY have to NOW ask is whether the groups that are now emerging are actually friend or foe.

This is where each person is gonna have to do their own remote viewing singularly or collectively to get real answers. After all that is one of things that we are here to develop as conscious beings in order to communicate across time and space which also ultimately allows ascension in your body to higher planes of consciousness based on frequency and not vibration.

You cannot get to level 12 based on vibration but based on frequency ~ yes you can. People tell me frequency and vibration is the same. Well ~ when we look back in recent history the last two hundred years we find that this is a manufactured construct to look the same so that you remain trapped in vibrational levels (3rd and 4th) and are compliant slave based sheeples.

Consider that if the Old World Order can plan the New World Order which has already been in operation for nearly 70 years starting with Truman and you might have an inkling that Jo Sheeple American’s are the patsy’s that are going to the fall just like the Germans were made to do in two world wars as were the Boers in two wars in South Africa.

And remember the Scots (Scottish) are saying vote yes in their referendum so that they can join with the European Union with the “dickatywoo dirty old paedophiles men in Brussels” laughing all the way to the bank in glee.

And of course the Vatican asked for forgiveness today of its priests who have gone astray and abused children.

Let’s make it really loud and clear here and NOW ~ It’s not abuse its gob smacking blood sucking murder and ritual sacrifices of thousands of children and especially of young girls to ensure that the feminine remains destroyed so that spiritual growth cannot enjoin across the male and female.

I give thanks to the soul and inspiration that is Kevin Annett who now more than ever needs our moral support. Rome is falling people and it could get to be messy!!

Please kindly remember that the Vatican Church owns over 90% of all the alternative religions and so called new age spirituality is linked to the same old Archon structures which says you must raise your vibration. You have just been conned and hoodwinked back into the old slave religions with a new face. In other words the Reptilians are laughing all the way to the slave banks because you are still their slaves.

In the meantime best wishes from South Africa where we have a real OSCAR Trial of blood and guts to blind the Sheeples to the real corruption that continues on a daily by the African National Corruption (ANC) ~ Zuma and his oligarch cronies before the election on the 7th May…

Charles P. Pierce:
Not to put too fine a point on it but, one day, Sean Hannity, or someone very much like him, is going to help get somebody killed.

“…In the states, the Republican party has embraced the traditional historical basis for this movement, having actively discussed — and, in some cases, tried to implement — the doctrine of nullification. This, of course, was the fundamental theoretical basis for the greatest act of sedition of all time, and one for which too many people seem overly nostalgic these days. The difference between the present moment, and the days when Helen Chenoweth was riding the range, of course, is the fact that there is a powerful and loud right-wing media infrastructure at the disposal of the people peddling this constitutional poison.”

The “-P Convention” or “P Question” refers to the act of making a statement into a question by appending “P.” When spoken aloud, the “P” is literally pronounced as a separate syllable “Pee.”

This practice originated among users of the Lisp programming language, in which there is the convention of appending the letter “P” on elements to denote a predicate (a yes or no question). It is most commonly used at MIT and the University of California, Berkeley, or among computer scientists working in Artificial intelligence (which frequently uses Lisp).

This usage was immortalized in the Jargon File and from there the use spread to some younger users seeking to be part of the classical Internet community.

re: #10 Eclectic Cyborg

I hate that video games have become so easy. Gradius is from a time where you didn’t have a checkpoint/save point every 30 seconds and a giant health meter to get through the level. Gradius was hardcore, like “screw up once and you’re done” hardcore. The original Contra Series was like that too.

And a quick reminder: Games back then had “giant health meters” too. Not every game was “one hit and you’re dead” like so many seem to think.

Nowadays, it doesn’t matter if you die, because you’ll restart about five screens back from where you died.

Besides this being a scurrilous bit of bull, there’s also the fact that games these days don’t work on the concept of “screens” since they usually take place in large environments that mostly involve staying within one area - meaning this concept is bullshit twice.

I tire of this myth. Games these days aren’t easier, nor were games “simply harder” back then. Remember these facts:
1. Games were designed to be cheaply difficult back then since many were predicated on sucking quarters out of your pocket or making a $50 game worth 10 hours of time under extremely limited technology.
2. Some of us - folks like myself - were kids back then, meaning we had less refined abilities and less refined thinking. We tend to forget this because we’ve honed ourselves over the years, age be damned.
3. Games like Gradius, or Battletoads, or Ninja Gaiden, were the exception rather than the rule. For every one of them you had several relatively simple platformers of the Mario variety that were only challenging in isolated spots, if they had any real challenge at all, or games like Super Metroid where saving was frequent and opportunities to power up were plentiful.

This distorted view of old games makes it hard to have rational discussions about them.

I just turned 30. I consider myself a gamer in every sense - while my peers were playing sports, or learning to drive, or getting laid, or earning money from summer jobs, or just living, I was hunched in front of a screen with a controller in my hands. I own upwards of a dozen consoles and hundreds of games, old and new, and I’ll admit I haven’t finished most of them. But not all the ones I’ve finished are new, nor are they all old - I have as much trouble finishing Gradius on the NES or Rocket Knight Adventures on the Genesis as I do with Bioshock Infinite on the PC or inFAMOUS Second Son on the PS4.

Please don’t tell me about the past of my hobby like I don’t understand it. I do. And that’s why I don’t subscribe to this myth.

And yes, I know I’m making a lot out of this. I’ve just heard it so many times, from so many people, and I don’t see any truth to it from where I sit.

If by ‘we’ you mean people who don’t live where that’s a big part of the economy.

When I opened my shop, I knew there was enough business around here for another one, because lots of ranchers wouldn’t set foot in the other one due to the politics of one of the owners. Since I had worked there, I needed to differentiate myself. I stole an idea from a tire seller in the northwest and offered ‘Free Beef!’ with a purchase.

I’ve had some very loyal customers for 15 years stemming from that. One of them is my landlord now.

But if enough consumption went down enough, the economy will change. And the standards of care for the leased land are getting tighter. The fees should certainly be raised.

Very good article here explaining how Bundy and his minions are totally wrong on their stance.

The Irony of Cliven Bundy’s Unconstitutional Stand
The Nevada rancher isn’t just resisting the Bureau of Land Management—he’s also fighting against his state’s unusual constitutional history.

“Two decades after Nevada’s founders proclaimed unswerving obedience to federal authority, Cliven Bundy’s family first settled the land where he and his supporters now make their heavily armed stand against federal power. It’s doubtful even the Nevada Constitution will change their minds—if legal and constitutional arguments could persuade the militia movement, there might not be a militia movement.”

The new federalism or “states’ rights” and what it means.

“New Federalism is sometimes called “states’ rights”, although its proponents usually eschew the latter term because of its associations with Jim Crow and segregation. Unlike the states’ rights movement of the mid-20th century which centered around the civil rights movement, the modern federalist movement is concerned far more with expansive interpretations of the Commerce Clause, as in the areas of medical marijuana (Gonzales v. Raich), partial birth abortion (Gonzales v. Carhart), gun possession (United States v. Lopez), federal police powers (United States v. Morrison, which struck down portions of the Violence Against Women Act), or agriculture (Wickard v. Filburn).”

Pro-Russian separatists voluntarily surrender police headquarters in Kramatorsk, Ukraine - @Reuters

Ukrainians have half a dozen APCs and a few buses set up at a checkpoint near Izyum in eastern Ukraine, near Slavyansk - @maxseddon

I think the Russians and their sympathizers inside Ukraine may not be as influential as previously seen. We have to remember that Yanuk is probably still in Rostov on Don, cooperating with the Russians in an attempt to regain power, and Donetsk is where his main support emanates.

I don’t think Ukrainians have forgotten what their fight has been about from the beginning, either. It centered on Yanuk and his reign of corruption and they don’t intend to give the country back to him under any circumstances. Crimea remains an open question—it may look lost to Russia, but many in the intl community do not agree.

… let them emigrate to the Russian Federation, not try to change Ukraine’s course.

You see, under the USSR, that was a mere administrative distinction. The USSR was dominated and ruled by Russians, with only the occasional token regional figure.

After the collapse of the USSR, that all changed, Russians living outside the Russian Federation went from being privileged minorities to minorities who were discriminated against, or as in the Baltic States, denied citizenship because they could not pass a language test.

With regard to Mr. Bundy and his pseudo-constitutionalism (lolol), one Freeper has already figured out the manner in which all of this will most likely play out.

The courts have already ruled against Bundy several times and affirmed that he already owes over a million. When they start going after his bank accounts and remove his ability to sell his cattle and buy his food and ranch supplies then they’ll effectively put him out of business without a shot being fired.

Yep. And that will be that, as they say. Game over.

Yeah, talk about wanting all the “freebies”, these guys take the cake.

Imagine running a business and having almost no overhead—that’s basically what Bundy has been doing for many years now. Having to pay for grazing rights or for feed if kept on his own land would have cut into his profits and he wasn’t having any of that, even though he’s worth millions.

His son, Ammon, must be the heir designate (Bundy has 14 kids) since he seems the most involved, meaning his inheritance is going to be reduced substantially while Dad pisses it away trying to prove the unprovable.

This is nothing but unmitigated greed.

Precisely. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ammon (his son) is indeed the designated heir as he would have the most to lose, namely, his inheritance. In this particular case, the matter will most likely be resolved through a combination of administrative and judicial rulings, and then presumably, Mr. Bundy can appeal to the wingnuts for some financial assistance, which also wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.

Morning all!

Justanother…thanks for that link. There is a big debate going on at a forum I own and administer and the whole ‘states rights’ thing is half of it. Also, as others pointed out, there was an amendment in the Nevada State Constitution that clarified the ownership and control of Federal lands, and that is all being glossed over by the states rights backers and the anti-federalists.

Amazing how there are so many viewpoints to what should be one law. I guess we really do not have any actual laws any more, it is all up to what one rancher and his supporters decide they are going to make the law mean to them or not.

Yep. They can’t even follow the laws of language. I guess much of it comes out of the “express yourself and be you” boomer thinking. That somehow has turned into make up your own laws or follow the ones you like in part.

OK.

237 postage stamps, two-thirds of them from the USSR, but also two from North Korea, a few from what is today the UAE, and about a dozen from Cuba. Also, Republique du Niger, and quite a few from Poland, Hungary and of course, the former Czechoslovakia, including a nice one from 1928.

Same way they treat the Bible as the sole authority and basis for law and morals. They just look it over and cherry pick the part that they think supports the conclusion they want to reach. The Bible says so, so shut up.

This has all the markings of Waco. Bundyville is going to turn into a circus town until this is all cleaned up one way or another.

Sheriff Mack Confirms: Feds Are Planning To Raid Bundy Homes

Bunkerville, NEVADA, April 14, 2014- As reported yesterday, hundreds of federal agents are still at the Bundy Ranch and the area continues its status as a no-fly zone. Despite major media reports that the Nevada Bureau of Land Management is retreating, the remaining activity that still surrounds the ranch illustrates a different scenario.
Not only is the BLM not actually backing off of Cliven Bundy, Sheriff Richard Mack of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association has revealed stunning information: on Ben Swann’s radio program, Mack said that he has received intelligence from multiple, credible sources inside the BLM and the Las Vegas Metro that there is “no question” that the federal government is planning a raid on the Bundy home and the homes of their children who live on the property.

Of course BLM is going to come back, and a raid on the homes is probably the first step toward seizing the property.

I’ve been calling them that for a long time. I can have respect for a real conservative, and even though I consider myself “liberal” in a lot of things, I’m conservative, to a degree, in others. I’ve just found over time that moderation keeps me going in all things, a sort of “balance”. Even during my most so-called radical days when I was younger, I still had a governor inside which would not allow me to get too far out or pulled me back in—just for the purpose of survival, whether it was politics, various trends, whatever. I’ve tried to operate my life on the dictum, “Do no harm”.

I think the internet has provided space for so many of the crazies of all stripes to connect and push their agendas and truth isn’t always self-evident. And the squeaky wheel does get the grease too often.

Get it on your screen, hit the PrintScreen key (often labeled PrntScrn). Open up your image editing software of choice, paste. Crop out the UI to leave just the image, and voila.

Disagree. 1) State sponsored judicial homicide is never morally acceptable to me. 2) Life without parole is a harsher punishment and more befitting of the crimes. 3) Too many cases where even though they’re “certain” they got the right guy have turned out to have evidence otherwise that sometimes doesn’t show up for decades.

If true, this is truly a sad ending to a great band.

AC/DC are ending their 41 year career on a terribly sad note.

Plans were underway for a new studio album, their first since 2008’s monumental Black Ice, and a ‘40th Anniversary’ world tour, 40 huge shows across the globe.

About 3 weeks ago, founding member, rhythm guitarist, co-producer and co-songwriter Malcolm Young had a stroke, which left a blood clot on his brain.

When AC/DC reunited at the start of April to begin a month of rehearsals, in the lead-up to new album recording sessions, Malcolm discovered he couldn’t play. At least, he couldn’t play like he used to play.

They had a hell of a run. I feel horrible for Malcolm, having been sidelined from playing for a while (albeit nowhere near on this scale). Here’s to a full recovery, Mal.

Well, given that a key member of the band partied himself to death over 3 decades ago, it’s kind of amazing that they managed to keep going for as long as they did.

It’s a sad inevitability when these hard-partying rock stars start creeping towards their 60s that this will happen. We just lost Scott Asheton, who also had suffered a stroke a few years back that left him unable to drum. Iggy Pop is now the last original Stooge alive.

I don’t see the justice system as the proper venue for meting out revenge, so the “harsher punishment” line doesn’t carry much weight with me. In this case, there’s no doubt at all that he’s the guy, so while I usually oppose capital punishment on the same grounds as your third point, it’s not applicable here either.

Which leaves the first one. And honestly, I do not see any moral difference between throwing someone into a box and locking the door, there to remain until they die, and just putting a bullet in them now. You achieve the same intended end, you just don’t waste 50+ years and who knows how much money doing it. Either way, you are removing this person from society and killing them, and I don’t accept that doing it in a preposterously slow fashion is any less of a “judicial homocide”.

It would be different if parole were an option, but “without parole” means they don’t intend to rehabilitate him.

The role is much more specialized and informed than that of a wine waiter: In fine dining today the role is strategically on a par with that of the executive chef or chef de cuisine.[1]

Yes, sad to watch. As a fan, you tend to take your favorite musicians for granted and assume they’ll go on forever. Time makes other plans, though.

This also works even if the window is partially hidden.

They weren’t my cup of tea when I was young (loved them with Bon, lost interest when Brian Johnson came in), but as I got older I really came to admire their efficiency as a band.

They knew, possibly better than any band, how to construct a simple rock tune.

Former Ambassador to Russia Predicts ‘Scary’ and ‘Bloody’ Day in Ukraine

Michael McFaul, until recently the Obama White House’s man in Moscow, said during a Tuesday morning MSNBC appearance that he is very concerned about what might transpire if and when Ukrainian forces clash with the protestors to take back control of the eastern parts of the country.

“I think this is a very scary day,” said McFaul, now a professor at Stanford University.

He said clashes between Ukrainian CT forces and pro-Russia groups could produce “a very bloody moment.”

4. Your grandparents probably drank twice as much coffee as you do.
“They were taking twice as many beans, meaning they were actually drinking more caffeine, too. We like to think of ourselves as a supercaffeinated culture, but our grandparents were more caffeinated than we were. I think one of the reasons is counterintuitive: We make a much bigger deal out of coffee than they did. We think of ourselves as coffee lovers. For their generation, it was just like, yeah, gimme a cup of coffee.”

5. Pro athletes everywhere depend on caffeine—which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
“I used to race bikes, and we used to drink a strong cup of coffee back then before a race. When I work out, I still like to be somewhat caffeinated. I think it helps me work out more vigorously, and I think a lot of people do. The ethics of it are really fascinating; it’s definitely complex. What’s changed in the past 30 years, since I was racing bikes seriously, is that you have much more specificity now in how people are able to take caffeine. You can quantify your dose, and there are products like gels that can help give the athlete caffeine in very specific doses.”

I know I consume too much for me. Yet, I refuse to BELIEVE! and continue to look for random information to support my own beliefs.

AC/DC is an integral part of my high school memories. I think of them fondly.

On a side note, there was a wedding with an outdoor “tent” reception at one of the hotels in which we stayed last week. One of the songs we were forced to hear was AC/DC You Shook Me All Night Long. It was played by the DJ and sung by most (it seemed) of the attendees. My old brain liked it on on the right side and the left side thought it was almost pornographic, considering the event.

*sigh*…

Dozens of Teenagers start tweeting Bomb threats to American Airlines

One dumb teenager is easily excused — but the host of Twitter users currently tweeting bomb threats at major airlines is another story entirely.

In case you’ve somehow missed this latest round of Internet idiocy, here’s what went down: Sunday night, a Dutch teenager identified only as “Sarah” infamously tweeted a threat at American Airlines. (“hello my name’s Ibrahim and I’m from Afghanistan. I’m part of Al Qaida and on June 1st I’m gonna do something really big bye,” she wrote. Hilarious!) She then promptly made the account private and insisted it was all a joke — “I’m so stupid, I’m scared,” she wrote at one point — but not before American reported her name and IP address to authorities, leading to her arrest in Rotterdam on Monday.

You’d think that would warn off other pranksters, but the opposite has actually been true. In fact, at least a dozen other people have threatened American or, oddly, Southwest, an unrelated airline, under the guise of a “prank” or “joke.”

facts

. The Number of Men Reporting an Assault Can’t Be Right

Critics also argue that there’s just no way that the (slight) majority of reports of “unwanted sexual contact” in this year’s survey came from men, and that the Pentagon’s math or survey methodology must be wrong.
But the extrapolated survey number estimating that around 13,000 military men experienced unwanted sexual contact is consistent with VA’s data that approximately 1 in 100 men who seek health care through the VA screen positive for military sexual trauma.

The outrage over sexual assault in the military has focused largely on female service members, and with reason: A woman in uniform is much likelier to be targeted than a man, Pentagon surveys indicate. But because male service members greatly outnumber females, officials believe the majority of sexual assault victims — 53 percent in 2012 — are men.

Today’s Installment in Responsible Gun Ownership

Boy Accidentally Shoots, Kills Girl At South Carolina Birthday Party, Authorities Report

Authorities say a 7-year-old girl was killed at a birthday party in South Carolina after a 5-year-old boy accidentally fired a gun that he thought was a toy.

Lexington County Sheriff James Metts says the boy was trying to get a toy gun out of a trunk Saturday night at a home in Gaston when he picked up a real gun also in the trunk by mistake.

Deputies say the bullet went through a car, and fragments hit Juliet Lynch in the chest. She died a short time later.

Metts says the real gun belonged to the boyfriend of the boy’s mother and she did not know it was in the trunk.

I wonder how much restraint we can expect from Putin. There’s no chance he’s going to let Ukrainian forces win but is he going to go for a full out “shock and awe” response. A full out slaughter might evoke an international response, I really hope he opts for minimizing casualties.

Putin may not do much at all; Ukraine is hosting NATO wargames this summer - about two or three months from now.

If I were running the world, those NATO wargames would be on the scale of Able Archer 83. Read up on that one - that exercise put some real fear into the Soviet High Command’s pants.

That’s just it. I remember when the Tea Party was a Ron Paul fan thing and the conservatives I knew who didn’t like Paul due to his FP views mocked it but then Obama became president. See also NSA too. They didn’t want any serious discussion about NSA programs while Bush was president but they feigned outrage the minute Snowden’s story came about and wanted Obama’s blood and acted as if he personally founded the program.

Most conservatives have long given up even attempting any sort of positive policy proposals at this point. They’ve gone straight to anything that ‘pisses off a liberal.’

Oh noes! O’Reilly is “concerned” that conservatives won’t watch Colbert

I guess Bill goes to bed so early that he never saw Letterman’s treatment of George W. Bush…or John McCain…or Sarah Palin.

As most of you probably know, there’s a scene in the Bugs Bunny short The Rabbit of Seville where Bugs, disguised as a barber, slams Elmer Fudd into a chair and massages hair growth tonic and fertilizer onto his scalp. The resulting treatment results in a quick growth of hair on Elmer’s bald pate which quickly sprout flowers.

The hidden genius of that gag, though, is not the sudden bouquet on Elmer’s head. It’s the reaction Fudd has looking in the mirror Bugs presents him to show his work (as any respectable barber would.)

Up until the flowers pop, Elmer’s expression is one of absolute joy. Apparently after dozens of shorts over the span of nearly (at that point) two decades, Elmer’s baldness had been bugging the shit out of him.

I bring this up as a comparison of to the freakout the RWNJs and conservatives are having right now over Colbert getting The Late Show. Outside of an occasional grumbling from Colbert’s main inspiration/target Bill O’Reilly, you never really heard conservatives bitch that much about Colbert.

My assumption was that they either just blew it off, or some of them still didn’t get the joke (I’m still convinced there are conservatives like that.)

Now that Colbert is essentially being rewarded for pointing out over nine years of how batshit insane Republicans and conservatives have become, they can’t keep their mouths shut anymore.

I find no end to the amusement it brings me to know that Colbert has really, really been getting on these idiots’ nerves all this time. And if there’s anybody who could live up to the enormous legacy of pissing of assholes like Bugs Bunny has, it’s Stephen Colbert.

And while I get protective of my son too, I think differently about each. It’s totally a hypocritical and ridiculous double standard. Because if you raise your kids right, they’ll make mistakes but they’ll be responsible and make good choices (hopefully). Their gender is irrelevant to that. So I want to acknowledge that I’m aware of my rampant hypocrisy. I’m a dad. I’m a jackass. I’m learning how to fight it and hold myself to a higher standard.

The weird thing is, the two that I interact the most with IRL are pretty sharp guys, and they’ve both done pretty well for themselves.

But yesterday, one of them complained - at excruciating length, he was still posting to the thread this morning - about the ‘liberal media’ in general, and CBS in particular for shit-canning Sharyl Atkisson. Bemoaning CBS’ ‘liberal bias’ and parroting Atkisson’s allegations that they intimidated her out of covering F&F and Benghazi.

I asked him why, if the charges were true, did CBS a) hire a former Fox News producer to oversee 60 Minutes, and b) allow Lara Logan to do a story on Benghazi on their flagship news program.

His answer: They had to run the Benghazi story, because if they didn’t their liberal bias would become evident.

No reasoning with these people. None. They’ve fried their synapses with wingnut talking points. Worse than talking to a crackhead, I swear.

He’s perfectly intelligent, but in some ways incurious, so having a given world view makes his life simpler.

An incontrovertible fact will get slotted somewhere into things, but will be bent just enough to fit the pattern that was there already. I’m not sure if there is a cure.

As the mother of both a son and a daughter myself, of course one worries about both, but the simple fact is that a girl or young woman is more likely to be perceived as a potential victim and is therefore at somewhat greater risk.
I don’t think of this as a double standard.

Well, statistics don’t seem to bear this out. At least as far as military sexual assault goes.

We don’t yet know the civilian statistics. The social barriers to men/boys reporting assault are unbelievable to me.

I don’t think S.E. is capable of making sense.

And speaking of that…what do the women of LGF think of Ms. Cupp?

I’m leaving that as an open question with no lead or coloring from me. I’m interested in what the ladies all think of her. I know what I think, but as a male, I’m interested what the female viewpoint is of her as a new media ‘conservative’ female. And please…comment on ALL aspects of her, not just her politics or her being on TV.

Happy to say I’ve never heard of her.

Women are far more likely to be assaulted or subject to many lesser forms of harassment. Men, however, appear to be less likely to report, if anything their claims are even less likely to be accepted

And of course, MEN [tm], have to turn in their Man Card [tm] if they report an assault.

Ukraine presidential candidates attacked in Kiev

Radicals have attacked two Ukrainian presidential candidates. One of them, Oleg Tsarev, was “brutally beaten,” claimed the candidate’s press office. The radicals poured green antiseptic solution and flour on another candidate, Mikhail Dobkin.

The video embedded below shows the scene of the alleged mob attack, although Tsarev himself is not visible through the crowd.

This guy has been in trouble for a while, it seems.

I worked for a lawyer years ago who had a client try to pay him in cocaine. He declined the offer and demanded cash, of course, but I’ve seen a few attys get in trouble w/drugs over the years. I also had my wallet stolen twice, by clients, when I was away from my desk in 2 different offices. While everyone deserves a defense when charged with a crime, defense work can bring in the sleaze.

re: #360 makeitstop

Most conservatives have long given up even attempting any sort of positive policy proposals at this point. They’ve gone straight to anything that ‘pisses off a liberal.’

And their level of debate and/or discussion typically involves using ZOMG LIBRUL as some sort of insult.

My Facebook wall is full of their stupid posts, all day, every day. One guy posts a bunch of stuff from a group called ‘Extremely Pissed-Off Conservatives,’ and all it is is a bunch of ‘gotcha’ crap that seems to advance no ideas rather than ‘liberals bad.’

I get a bunch of shit from Heritage, Allen West, Joe the Fake Plumber, some site called Natural News and a bunch of crap from the Tea Party News Network on my FB feed every goddamn day. They’re posting a lot more now because of the Bundy Ranch shit. It’s annoying.

The same friend who wondered if his fantasy of Harry Reid and the Chinese Solar Farm was true (still no response to my Snopes link yet) also posted this yesterday:

That video got him comment today:

We allowed this! The BLM is worse for our nation than the Mexican Drug Cartels are for Mexico. At least Mexico defines the Cartels as criminals!

Yes really.

WTF kind of world view is that? Not a one of them seems to be able to reason above a third-grade level at this point. Even worse, they clearly don’t even want to try.

It’s a lazy, incurious one. It’s much easier when you don’t have to think. These are the same people who parrot the “GOD SAID IT THAT SETTLES IT!” school of religious thought. They just want someone else to do the heavy lifting and to think for them.

Yes, 90% of rape victims are women ACCORDING to the information we currently have.

Since it seems a significant proportion of the population still doesn’t believe men can be raped, I hope as time goes on and with better research, we’ll have more realistic statistics to work with.

I will say that from what I’ve read, most of the children trafficked for the Rape for Profit industry, are girls. I have to wonder if there isn’t a part of the industry that trafficks boys that we do not yet know about.

I’m 50. I don’t believe in the “good old days” theory of video games or anything else. Back in the day, if a game was impossibly hard, no one would play it. I remember an otherwise nice unofficial Aliens adaptation known as “Alien Syndrome”.

It was so hard to play that no one I knew could get past the second level. And this was in two-player coop mode. Single player was IMPOSSIBLE.

I tried it in MAME many years afterwards. Still impossible. Arcade owners soon realized no one playing a game makes no more money than those who milk quarters.

(And, as an aside, games started to come with continues for extra coins around that time.)
