Cliven Bundy Doubles Down, Dana Loesch Says Bundy “Isn’t Media Trained”

“The statement was right”
Wingnuts • Views: 17,808

YouTube

Here’s a recording of right wing hero Cliven Bundy on libertarian Peter Schiff’s show, saying “the statement was right.” And he’s “wondering.” That’s all he was doing, “wondering” if “the nigra” was actually better off picking cotton as a slave. He was just, you know, asking questions.

Meanwhile, at the Bundy Ranch Facebook page, Bundy’s followers are still trying to claim his words were “twisted” and “taken out of context.”

There are new rumors going around about Cliven. We all know that with the media, words are taken out of context, meanings are twisted, and they can take anything and turn it into what they want it to be. Cliven is a good man, he loves all people, he is not a racist man. He wants what is best for everyone.

Wingnut demagogue Dana Loesch was one of Bundy’s biggest admirers, lavishing praise on him since the standoff began, but now she’s desperately making excuses. Apparently, Bundy’s main failing was that he wasn’t media savvy enough to keep these racist opinions to himself: On Cliven Bundy’s Remark.

I hope no one is surprised that an old man rancher isn’t media trained to express himself perfectly. He seems to be decrying what big government has done to the black family — which big government has negatively affected not just the black family, but all families regardless of ethnicity — so perhaps he included that in his remarks against big government?

Good grief. This is one of those very clarifying moments for the right wing. Nobody can deny all the signs were there long before Bundy outed himself as a throwback racist. Racism is an integral part of the libertarian far right, but the smart ones usually try to hide it, as Dana Loesch admits; Cliven Bundy is not one of the smart ones.

But the argument Bundy made about “the nigra” being better off under slavery is an absolutely standard mainstream right talking point; we’ve posted many examples of it here at LGF. The main difference between the standard conservative line and Bundy, though: Bundy used a word that clarified the real meaning, and turned the dog whistle into a high decibel air horn.

You don’t have to be “media trained” to know that saying slavery wasn’t so bad for blacks is a very racist and ignorant thing to say Dana.

Repeat from downstairs: had they simply stopped at “I support CB in his dispute with the BLM”, then they could’ve sidestepped the issue.

But he was held up as a “True American Patriot and Hero”, which is what they do with anyone they agree with in any dispute against the federal government or the Democratic party.

That is their style, just as they brand anyone they disagree with as a “traitor”, “moocher”, “loser”, “communist/socialist”, “Muslim/atheist”, “pervert”, “baby killer”, etc.

So it seems the BLM left a secret weapon behind when they withdrew from the Bundy Ranch: enough rope for him to hang himself with

Charles Johnson,

Anyone who would even consider it possible that black people were better off as slaves is a racist. If Cliven Bundy wants us to think otherwise, he won’t have any ground to stand on. Also the word for “blacks” he used is far from politically correct.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of Oliver Brown, et al. v. Board of Education of Topeka, et al., better known as Brown v. Board of Education, the landmark Supreme Court decision that ended segregation in public schools. To commemorate the occasion, the Topeka, Kansas Unified School District has invited First Lady Michelle Obama to speak at the district’s graduation, and some Topeka residents have decided to mark the occasion by trying to block her from doing so. This afternoon, The White House announced that they have succeeded.

The First Lady was originally scheduled to speak at a combined graduation ceremony on May 17, but a petition led by high school senior Taylor Gifford caught the attention of the press, on its way to collecting 2,700 signatures from around the country. I’m absolutely horrified that the petition was started by a child. Disgusting, indeed.

To be fair, the student who started the petition to begin with wasn’t opposed to Michelle Obama giving the commencement speech, she was opposed to the ticket allotments for family and friends that were to be done:

Topeka High senior Taylor Gifford said she was initially excited to hear of Obama’s visit.
“We were absolutely thrilled,” Gifford said. “I mean, it’s the first lady.”
But that feeling quickly gave way to disappointment when she heard the number of tickets that would be issued, which prompted her to launch a petition on change.org asking the district to drop its plans for a single, combined graduation. The district shouldn’t put students in a position of choosing which of their family members can attend, she said.

It’s the assholes who glommed on to it as a cause celebre (many of them from out-of-state) who turned it real ugly.

This is the most offensive bit:

were they were slaves when they were able to have a family structure together

Slaves weren’t able to have a family structure. Slaves had their children ripped away from them and sold down the river, they had their wives, husbands raped, sold, killed.

There is this bizarre, weird, abhorrent, despicable convention among some asshole racists in pretending that in slavery-time, slave families and the white families lived in their own little separate worlds. It’s totally untrue. Slaves lived in worlds invaded and despoiled by their white masters, and there was no solidity, nothing that couldn’t be taken away in a goddamn minute.

Racist against black people, but sympathetic to undocumented workers:

“Now let me talk about the Spanish people,” Bundy said in a new video unearthed by New York magazine, right after he concluded his thoughts on “the Negro.”

“I understand that they come over here against our Constitution and cross our borders,” he says. “But they’re here and they’re people. I worked side-by-side a lot of them. Don’t tell me they don’t work, and don’t tell me they don’t pay taxes. And don’t tell me they don’t have better family structures than most of us white people.”

“When you see those Mexican families, they’re together. They picnic together. They’re spending their time together,” he said. “I’ll tell you, in my way of thinking, they’re awful nice people. We need to have those people join us and be with us.”

Heck, there were some folks who complained about the historical liberties taken by Quentin Tarantino in Django Unchained, but he did capture the essence of the horror of slavery, whether it was slaveowners raping or murdering slaves, letting their underlings have their way with the slaves, or ripping apart the family structure as husbands and wives were sold independent of each other and treated (as what happened to the titular Django and his wife, for instance). Heck, he even watered down the brutality .

For all of the violence in that movie, it pales in comparison to what happened in real life and history.

Bundy’s remarks seem to follow a lot of right wing talking points. One of their favorites is that African-Americans vote Democrat against their own interests, because Democrats are trying to keep them dependent upon the government. That’s pretty close to what he’s saying, though he turned it up a notch. I’m sure he’s a longtime racist, but it also seems like he’s a listener to right wing radio. In other words, he’s just saying what a lot of them think.

He’s playing to the audience around him, who are mostly anti-government whackaloons who spend every waking moment convinced that the ultimate aim of the federal government is turn them into slaves. The man’s a grifter and one thing grifters do best is con the people they’re grifting into believing that they’re kindred spirits.

Ex-KKK leader behind Kansas Jewish center killings paid for sex with black man dressed as woman: report

Frazier Glenn Cross, then known as Frazier Glenn Miller, was arrested after police officers spotted him having sex with the prostitute in the backseat of a car in Raleigh, N.C., according to a report. Cross, 73, is accused of killing three people during a Passover eve shooting near a Jewish facility in Kansas.

Totally OT, but I posted about the sweet little kitten who came into our yard on Sunday night and took over my heart.

I drove her to the shelter this morning because it’s probably the best chance she has of finding a forever home, because we can’t keep her. Our local one has a really good placement rate and works with local groups to re-release ferals (not that she’s feral at ALL) so I’m pretty sure she’ll be ok. She trusted me enough last night to let me pet her - a lot - and I look like a fucking watering pot because it keeps breaking my heart over and over and over again.

So here’s to you finding a forever home, kitten, and thank you for letting us be your people for a few days.

Freepers are pissed at Glenn Beck for calling Bundy unhinged from reality:

None of this has any bearing on what we all witnessed last week where an out of control, militarized federal government brought their storm troopers to “protect” a freaking turtle and steal an old man’s cows.

My distance is from the UNHINGED, MR. BECK.

Unhinged?
Compared to what?

An out of control POTUS ruling by diktat?

I don’t think so.

Go to hell, Glenn Beck.

Dumb comments, but its clear Beck is LOVING this. Another opportunity to attack conservatives

Not sure what happened to Glenn Beck.

I was a fan of his for a long time. Still am to a degree. But he seems to be on the wrong side of things lately.

Entitled to his opinion, sure… but he’s wrong on this. Completely.

Beck’s next outburst: “Bundy is a heterofascist who wants to kill gays, he’s a Putin sympathizer! Shoot him then melt his gold teeth and send it to me!”

People rallied to Bundy’s defense not because of him. I couldn’t care less if it was a member of the Black Panthers! The Fed are in the wrong. THEY have seized land they have no right to, and terrorized civilians. None of this is about Bundy, YOU IDIOT! Bundy could be a David Koresh grade nutjob and it wouldn’t change a thing! THE FEDS ARE TYRANNICAL!!!

They’re not happy with Rand Paul either:

Now Bundy REALLY deserves to have his cattle stolen.
What a bunch of poppy-cock. I bet Bundy is also a right wing conspirator, probably a freemason, might even have kiddy porn hid away in the barn.

If plan A doesn’t work…move on to Plan B. Trash the hell outta the man.

So, if someone supposedly makes racist comments, he suddenly has no rights?
Bundy’s personal views on race or pancakes or anything else have NOTHING to do with this issue.

Bundy’s remarks were not racist.

He was calling out the poverty pimping that has kept too many “on the plantation.”

Rand Paul went cheap on this; shame on him.

Yeah, pretty much. BLM’s in the beginning stages of applying for expansion of their jurisdiction on part of the Red River bordering Texas and Oklahoma, which locals have said stretches the definition of “river” in light of recent droughts and whose shoreline is prone to changes. Texas’ AG and future Gov is looking to jump on the “BLM IS EVIL!!!” bandwagon by claiming that it’s a “land grab” that is meant to steal away people’s private property.

Gazans set off border bomb in failed attack on IDF

Palestinian terrorists set off an explosive device in a failed attempt to attack soldiers carrying out routine security work along the border with northern Gaza on Thursday evening. The army fired back at the source of the blast, an army spokesperson said.

There were no injuries in the incident. Earlier, the IDF uncovered two bombs planted on the border between southern Gaza and Israel.

On Thursday morning, Palestinian terrorists fired a mortar shell at an IDF unit on a security mission along the border with southern Gaza.

BLM Red River (OK/TX) Statement

The BLM is categorically not expanding Federal holdings along the Red River. The 140-acres in question were determined to be public land in 1986 when the U.S. District Court ruled on a case brought by two private landowners, each seeking to adjust boundary lines for their respective properties. The BLM was not party to any litigation between the landowners. The 140-acres were at no time held in private ownership.

Which is why we’ve even got this discussion in the first place. The US won the territory that includes Nevada in war. It was federal land before the state of Nevada even existed. It’s that history that makes the whole discussion about federal land relevant (at least to those who understand that history, facts, and circumstances are key to distinguishing why the BLM and federal government controls so much land in certain western states).

Yeah, no Mets or A’s fans, or at least no locality where they represent the majority. Had we done this map in 1989, I’m sure there would be many more Mets and A’s fans. Also, there would be a lot more Astros and a lot fewer Rangers fans.

There are plenty of people who were “Men of their times” who are revered and respected even today, who would be considered completely backwards and repugnant based on them championing the commonly held beliefs of their day.

Its not an excuse or an attempt to say those beliefs were correct, its just noting the facts. You can admire the men at the Alamo for standing and fighting, as well as recognizing they were probably fighting for things you disagree with. I admire Thomas Aquinas, but his views of women, while typical of his age, have no place in modern society.

Something to do with land along the riverbanks, the BLM wants people to not do something something too close to the water, so Texans thinks the federal government is going to take their land or move the state border or something?

re: #180 Kragar

There are plenty of people who were “Men of their times” who are revered and respected even today, who would be considered completely backwards and repugnant based on them championing the commonly held beliefs of their day.

Its not an excuse or an attempt to say those beliefs were correct, its just noting the facts. You can admire the men at the Alamo for standing and fighting, as well as recognizing they were probably fighting for things you disagree with. I admire Thomas Aquinas, but his views of women, while typical of his age, have no place in modern society.

I am willing to make concessions for the times that people lived in. If I am to be judged by my actions in 200 years, I want to be judged by the standards of my times, not those of 2200.

Bundy is a man of the present, and we are judging him by present standards. That is the difference between history and current events.

I wonder how those defending Bundy as either misguided or right are going to deal with Reince Priebus’ statement that the comments were “beyond the pale,” “highly offensive” and “100% wrong on race.” This demonstrates the GOP’s constant conundrum.

Then again, it’s only been a few years since the Dallas Mavericks were worth a damn. Before Mark Cuban bought them, nobody liked the Mavs. They were the leftover sports team in Dallas, since the Rangers and Cowboys overshadowed them.

What’s going on in Texas?

Texas Tribune:

The BLM, the federal government’s trustee for nearly 250 million acres of public land and 700 million acres of mineral rights, is currently updating resource management plans in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas — designating how the land will be used for the next 15 to 20 years. The agency has yet to decide whether it will close off parts of the land or make it open to the public. One option would be to let Texans continue having cattle graze on the land, though they would then be subject to federal regulations. Another option would be to sell it. Or Congress could tell the agency to do something else with the land.

He has his horses step on them I guess. Not seen prairie dogs where he is though. Ground squirrels, coyote, badgers, and golden marmots. He doesn’t like the ground squirrels in particular and plinks at them with .22 LR all the time. The squirrels attract the badgers (and fox as well). After extensive consideration by aHospital’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), it was agreed that this mouse named Clyvn would be placed under a new study led by Dr. Keyes’ lab.
As part of this new facility , Clyven has been placed inside a light-sensitive box with electrodes attached to him allowing people the opportunity to communicate and interact with him via his neuro interface. He is then able to communicate and interact with people via this neuro interface.
By clicking on the link posted in this article, you can visit the site where it has the following features:
- People are also able to hear a live audio feed of Clyven inside his box
- Chat with Clyven

Some really, really stupid people fell for this. In fact, one of them runs her own website and started banning people who tried to explain to her that his was a joke.

This Cliven Bundy press conference is unbelievable. “I’m not SAYING blacks were better off as slaves, I’m just ASKING if they were!

brings up the all important question of whether or not women are better off being chained to the stove

Memo to CNN:

Rancher wasn’t branded a racist. He *is* a racist. You don’t go saying the things he says without knowing, feeling, and believing them. They are the words of an extremist.

Calling him out and exposing him as a racist doesn’t trample on his rights. He was certainly free to make a total ass of himself by expressing his right to free speech. No one stopped him.

He inserted race into the ongoing saga in the Nevada scrub brush, and everyone’s letting him know about it in no uncertain terms (mostly against, but there are a few stalwarts who are supporting him unconditionally because, well, they’re extremists too).

Oh, and since when is it a developing story that the MH370 plane might never be found. That’s been a concern from day one when no one even knew where to look. We’re no closer now than we were then. No sign of anything from the plane. But keep running up conspiracy theories and speculation. That’ll do wonders for your reputation.

Sorry to go off topic but I need to know how to block unwanted e-mails. I have been getting around 50 an hour. Mail box is almost full in a couple hours and I am expecting an important e-mail that may not get to me.

Any ideas??

They’ve got this weird paradox with gays. Where gay men are too weak and effeminate and where gay men are the heirs of the Nazi SS who will terrorize America. I just wonder how guys like this dress themselves.

They’ve got the same contradictory paranoid fantasies about Obama.

But conspiracy theories are bound by no logic.

Totally reasonable question but because of political correctness and gay soldier armies taking over our FEMA camps we can’t reasonably debate these things. //

Wiles: It’s not an exaggeration to say homofascist because the German Nazi Party was homosexual, Hitler was a homosexual, the top Nazi leadership, all of them were homosexuals, it was a radical homosexual movement that gained political power, military power, and they were creating a homosexual special race.

That’s right, and that’s how the thousand year reich was going to perpetuate itself and create this special race by…wait, what?

If only we had some knowlege of what really happened back then we could clear this up like that!

Why couldn’t we have invented history sooner?

Has Sarah Palin booked Bundy on her show yet? Only fitting the two dumbest celebrities ever foisted on the public should have a televised special featuring recipes for word salad, and a handy DIY of how to remove your foot from your mouth.

It’s people like Cliven Bundy, who really came out of the woodwork when Obama was first elected President, who have made me change my opinion on affirmative action.

Before 2008, for decades, I was pretty much opposed to most, if not all, preferences based on race.

I wouldn’t have thought it possible, but the right wing has proven me wrong. After years and years of reading about people like Cliven Bundy, and (in some ways, worse) apologists like Dana Loesch, I appreciate that there are institutions and/or circumstances, in present-day America, when even frank racial preferences can be a force for good.

Knowing her, she’s probably going to go after those who have ran away from Bundy like Hannity or she’ll try to say Obama’s just as racist as Bundy is.
