World Net Daily Has the Most Rotten Right Wing Take on Sterling So Far

“Mac-Daddy sissy”
Wingnuts • Views: 27,983

You can always count on the religious right nut cases at World Net Daily to come up with a way to tie Obama to whatever scandal’s in the news, and today that job (oddly enough) was assigned to one of their strange African American writers: Don Sterling: More Helpful to Blacks Than Obama.

Now come the alleged comments of Donald Sterling, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, that were secretly recorded while he was having a dispute with his girlfriend. The recording then mysteriously found its way to TMZ for TMZ to present as an exclusive. During the dispute, Sterling opined to his girlfriend (who is black and Mexican) that he was upset by her public association with certain blacks - among whom was Magic Johnson. If we are to believe the tape has not been doctored, Sterling indicated he did not want his girlfriend to bring these blacks to basketball games.

And as quick as you can say “Mac-Daddy sissy,” Obama, with the blood of the Benghazi Four (Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods and Glenn Doherty) on his hands; the IRS scandal; Fast and Furious (and the blood of Brian Terry and Jaime Zapata also on his hands); unemployment at unparalleled highs; America becoming a food-stamp nation; Japanese reports that Michelle plans to divorce him (supposedly over his countless affairs); and “If you like your insurance you can keep it,” he finds time to feign insult over Sterling’s comments.

Obama called Sterling’s alleged comments, “incredibly offensive racist statements.” He continued: “We constantly have to be on guard on racial attitudes that divide us rather than embracing our diversity as a strength. … The United States continues to wrestle with the legacy of race and slavery and segregation, that’s still there, the vestiges of discrimination. … We’ve made enormous strides, but you’re going to continue to see this percolate up every so often … and I think that we just have to be clear and steady in denouncing it, teaching our children differently, but also remaining hopeful that part of why statements like this stand out so much is because there has been this shift in how we view ourselves.”

Obama’s comments were morally opprobrious and boorish but obviously not out of character for him. Obama has done less to further the racial unity of America and more to exasperate and, indeed, to exacerbate racial and religious tensions in America and around the world than any American leader before him.

Oh brother.

I particularly like the technique of casting all possible doubt on the recording, followed by the prompt transition to credulous and uncritical repetition of right wing bullshit points that would insult the intelligence of an illiterate twelfth century peasant.

26 lawhawk  Apr 29, 2014 3:23:49pm

If you’ve got to include Benghazi in every story about, well, everything, you might want to seek medical attention.

Benghazi is not the cause of, nor solution to, all of what ails you as a member of the GOP and right wing. It’s a symptom of a failure to move forward and provide something other than denialism as a policy on pretty much anything.

Benghazi is an unfortunate and sad situation where four Americans were killed in an attack on a diplomatic facility that was ill-prepared to deal with the situation, in part because the GOP refused to consider the State Department’s requests for security (all for fiscal responsibility), and the Administration’s response was to get the DoD to create a rapid response force for the first time in our history to deal with events such as what happened in Benghazi.

The right wing and GOP have nothing on the Administration, so they’ll shout Benghazi as if it was.

When you have the law on your side, you preach the law. When you have the facts on your side, you emphasize them. When you don’t have any of them, you bang on the table and shout Benghazi.

That’s where we’re at.

Here’s the thing I find amusing about the use of that fake (or at least questionable) quote. The context.

Why is he allegedly getting this? Not just because he’s getting the civil rights act passed. Because he’s getting it passed with one party assisting and the other party resisting. Because one party said “rights should not depend on race” and the other said “yes they should.”

So yeah, over 90% of blacks vote for one party. It’s not the party that said rights can be different if you’re not white.

Erdogan is trying to get Gulen.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday that Turkey would officially request that the United States extradite Fethullah Gulen, a Turkish preacher in Pennsylvania whose network of followers has been accused of trying to undercut Mr. Erdogan’s government through a corruption scandal.

The request, which Mr. Erdogan announced to reporters in Ankara, is a new low point in relations between Mr. Erdogan and Mr. Gulen, a onetime ally who retains wide influence in Turkey even though he has lived in rural Pennsylvania since 1997. It reflects the sensitivity of the corruption accusations that have been leveled against Mr. Erdogan’s close circle, including his son and the sons of some of his ministers.

Let’s just call an AA for what it has traditionally has been: a secretary. Although, in the case of the “Transaction Coordinator”, it’s probably a self-given glorified name for “gofer”.

Anti-gay group: Businesses ‘trample’ the freedom of Christians by serving LGBT people

So it’s not enough for them to persecute against gays in their business, everyone has to. What a bunch of pathetic dipshits. If you don’t want to go to a business that actually sees gay people as human beings, honestly please move to Saudi Arabia with that primitive bigoted mindset and don’t ever come back. Sorry for sounding so angry but damn it’s not enough for these people to want to be able to discriminate against gay people, they want everyone to do it because they can’t handle the fact that they share breathing space with gay people but don’t call them hateful bigots, they’re just good Christians.

I love this quote from the business owner that started the “We Don’t Discriminate” decal program…

“We hoped really that we as business owners could finally speak for ourselves and not have politicians speaking for us,” Moore explained. “They kept using business as an excuse, saying, you know, ‘We need this for businesses so that we can prevent discrimination against Christians.’”

He added: “We’re in Mississippi. I’ve never been discriminated against as a Christian.”

I LOVE IT!!

Exactly… The backbones are like the interstate system for data… and it looks like there are some problems where the ATT system (I-70) connects to a couple of other systems (think I-25 and I-35) (red boxes). Any data passing through those systems get caught up in what is essentially a data traffic jam and have to wait.

At least 24 winners in Nenana Ice Classic

FAIRBANKS, Alaska — Alaska’s biggest annual guessing game comes with a record jackpot this year of more than $363,000, but the prize will be divvied up among many this time around.

At least 24 winning tickets have been counted so far in this year’s Nenana Ice Classic, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported. The goal of the contest is to guess exactly when the ice will give way on the Tanana River in the tiny community of Nenana, about 55 miles south of Fairbanks. Each guess takes a $2.50 ticket.

The ice broke up Friday at 3:48 p.m. Alaska Standard Time.

This year’s jackpot of $363,627 is the largest in the classic’s 98-year history. But it’s not a record number of winning tickets, whose number could rise as they continue being counted this week.

There were a record 58 winning tickets in 1973, according to ice classic manager Cherrie Forness. In 2005, there were 46 winning tickets, 29 winning tickets in 1950 and 25 winning tickets in 1984.

Read more here: adn.com

My best guess missed by only 32 minutes! Everyone expected an early breakup as it’s been a fairly warm winter thus the ice was much thinner.
Last year, being a very cold winter, the ice broke up on May 20th.

Conservatives have been saying this for years. “But Robert Byrd!” has been a standard line, repeated often even here a few years back, to cast Dems as the “real” racists. However, they’re doubling down now, largely because the first black president is a Democrat.

This has nothing to do with convincing blacks or other minorities to vote gop. They’ve shown they won’t fall for that crap. It’s about preaching to the choir of racist whites who want to have a shield to hide behind, even if it’s from over 100 years ago and no longer valid.

If the Dems were still the racist party, they’d control the rural south like they once did…whey they actually had lots of racists. Today the gop controls most of the south in ironclad fashion. That’s really all you need to know to figure out which is the more racist party.

Time to kill the death penalty.

I heard this on my drive in to work this morning on NPR… Seems appropriate.

At least four percent of death sentences in the US send an innocent person to death row, according to new research published Monday in the scientific journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Some of those people are exonerated and freed - but not all of them, the researchers report.

The study follows a broader report earlier this year that found that a record number of people were exonerated for crimes in 2013, suggesting that innocent people go to prison far more often than had been thought.

The study authors found that over a 31-year period, 1.6 percent of inmates sentenced to death were exonerated and freed. Of the remaining innocent inmates, some see their sentences reduced to life in prison, while others are executed, the authors say.

The ink was not even dry on the Civil Rights Act and all the Dixiecrats scampered over to the GOP.

Oh I forgot, LBJ said the N-word so that cancels THE ENTIRE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT FOREVER!!!!!!

A Conservative friend once told me he figured it was okay if some people were executed who were innocent of that particular crime, since if they’d gotten arrested they were probably guilty of something they should die for.

I could not begin to comprehend that.

This is our ‘more humane’ method, meaning hanging, gas chamber, and firing squad are theoretically less humane.

Weird.

I generally oppose capital punishment due to the finality of the death penalty in the context of a system that cannot avoid all errors because cops, attorneys, judges, witnesses, jurors, etc. are humans who make mistakes.

However, if we’re going to execute criminals, let’s do it right, ie, pain free. Why not first administer the same anesthesia used in surgery? And then, once the “patient” is thoroughly anesthetized, adminster the lethal cocktail. Thus no real possibility of pain. Why does the condemned have to be conscious when the process begins? I think they already know they screwed up, it’s a little late to teach them some final lesson before sending them to the graveyard.

At this point, compared to what they’re doing in Oklahoma, I think a firing squad would be more humane.

Just been picking through the thread for the last half hour.

Some observations:

1) Cats seem to be popular on the internet.

2) Rank-and-file conservatives are under the impression that the NBA is a branch of federal government.

3) Rank-and-file conservatives are under the impression that racism should have no consequences.

4) You cannot write for World Net Daily unless you have massive brain damage.

5) The abject bigotry and stupidity of some of my fellow Americans is so upsetting, even the Flyers beating the Rangers can’t cheer me up.

6) I’m surprised LGF hasn’t had an influx of “Don Sterling is gliding down the slippery slope started by Mozilla” comments yet.

They (as well as TX and my own state of TN, among others, IIRC) ran out because the big European pharma companies can’t sell them the drugs they had been using for years for the purpose of lethal injections anymore, hence these disastrous attempts at a workaround.

European Union export ban[edit]
Due to its use for executions in the US, the UK introduced a ban on the export of sodium thiopental in December 2010,[65] after it was established that no European supplies to the US were being used for any other purpose.[66] The restrictions were based on “the European Union Torture Regulation (including licensing of drugs used in execution by lethal injection)”.[67] From 21 December 2011 the European Union extended trade restrictions to prevent the export of certain medicinal products for capital punishment, stating that “The Union disapproves of capital punishment in all circumstances and works towards its universal abolition”.[68]

re: #223 Pie-onist Overlord

Most humane method is the Guillotine.

But it’s icky.

Not to restart the argument with whoever it was I argued with about this the last time, but I think humans have some visceral reaction to the thought of decapitation that they don’t have to hanging, firing squad, lethal injection, gassing, etc, so no matter how instantaneous it might be, that makes it too horrible to contemplate.

When I was younger, I was against capital punishment like all good Liberals are against capital punishment.

When I got a little older, and thought more, I realized there were some people so broken that they remained a continuing danger to society, even while incarcerated because of the absolute certainty that if they managed to escape they’d kill again. Ted Bundy comes to mind. So I was inclined to favor capital punishment for the worst crimes and most broken killers. Not as vengeance, but because they’re simply too dangerous to live.

As I’ve gotten still older and thought still more, I’m coming to the conclusion that there’s no way to codify what i just described, and that in the absence of being able to do that, there’s no way to apply the DP that I can approve. So I’m coming back to my original position, but it’s no longer a ‘tribal’ reaction.

It is from a gossipy “insider” book, “Inside the White House” by Ronald Kessler, published in 1993. That doesn’t mean LBJ actually said it.

Some history.

But the court quickly balked, choosing instead to nullify its own stay and reverse a lower-court ruling that found a law allowing the state to keep secret the source of its lethal drugs unconstitutional. Death-penalty opponents have accused state officials of succumbing to political pressure.

Oklahoma’s morass reflects a growing challenge states are facing nationally to carry out their death sentences because of lethal-drug shortages. As European manufacturers make it increasingly difficult for states to procure chemicals intended for lethal injections, states are being forced to look elsewhere to procure the necessary ingredients. In Oklahoma, as well as other states such as Texas and Missouri, states have turned to secret compounding pharmacies to produce the lethal cocktails.

Opponents of the death penalty say such secrecy violates a prisoner’s right to know how he will die and could undermine Eighth Amendment protections against cruel and unusual punishment.

Looks like the death penalty opponents were right. The compounding pharmacy OK turned to was incompetent on top of being horribly unethical. Any compounding pharmacy that cooperates with a State to carry out an execution should suffer serious consequences. Pharmacists take the Hippocratic Oath, and these guys set out to “do harm.”
