Sarah Palin’s Word Salad of the Day: “It’s a Real Baby!”

How babby is formed
Wingnuts • Views: 14,424

Classy as always, today half-governor Sarah Palin decided to use Chelsea Clinton’s pregnancy to attack Hillary Clinton, in another of her trademark incoherent word salads: Sarah Palin: Hillary Clinton Should ‘Open Her Eyes’.

“She, just knowing that her daughter Chelsea is pregnant with a baby — it’s a real baby! It’s not some disposable something, and I know that will be controversial. But those who, perhaps, they’re in this position now as a parent or a grandparent, they realize sanctity of life, how innocent, how precious it is. And of all places it should be in the womb that these babies are protected. So maybe even on a social issue like that she’ll open her eyes.”

Yes, of all places it should be in the womb that babies are protected — because after they emerge, the Sarah Palins of the world couldn’t possibly care less about them.

I was told that after her pig-ignorant comments on waterboarding and comparing it to baptism, no one would take her seriously any more. Why do we care about her pig-ignorant comments on Hillary Clinton’s yet-to-be-born grandchild?

Sarah Palin doesn’t give a fuck about Hillary, Chelsea, or her baby. Like everything in Palin’s universe, they only exist to score political points and/or raise money off of.

The best response to this is nothing.

2 GeneJockey  May 7, 2014 11:02:13am

Because, I presume, Chelsea herself was artificial, so this would be Hillary’s first experience with a ‘real baby’.

3 Kragar  May 7, 2014 11:03:08am

Anyone who truly is pro-life would be on board with 100% access to affordable contraception and believe in comprehensive sex ed. That is how you help women and make sure they don’t end up needing an abortion.

Oh, I know…they do understand. They just choose to lie.

Fetuses are pretty safe in the womb. They meet much more danger after they do become babies, when they are born. That’s when Republicans abandon them.

The clinic in question is about 2 miles from where am I right now. I’ve been passing by it for most of my life.

I’m fully expecting it to be firebombed or fired on in the near future. I’m just surprised no one in the Philly area is flipping out over the fact it’s in their backyard.

OFFS

A spokesman for Operation American Spring, whose participants hope to oust President Obama from office with their upcoming Washington, D.C. rally, is now claiming that the president plans to attack the event with a drone strike.

Terry Trussell, Operation American Spring’s chief of staff, told “Patriot Nation” host Mark Hoffmann last week that organizers are “expecting the unexpected,” including a drone strike. He noted, though, that a drone strike could reflect negatively on the administration: “When the government destroys the capital just to get rid of us, I think it’s going to work to their discredit.”

… initial reports on the disputed essay largely overlooked one of the three sources provided to students, extensive text lifted directly from a Holocaust Denial and conspiracy website, biblebelivers.com.au, titled “Is the Holocaust a Hoax?”

“Though six million Jews supposedly died in the gas chambers, not one body has ever been autopsied and found to have died of gas poisoning,” the webpage reads. “We have been shown piles of bodies from World War II, but most of these persons died of typhus or starvation or Allied bombings and a great many of those were murdered Germans, not Jews. Roughly the equivalent of ten football fields should be packed full of gassed bodies to present as evidence, yet not one body has ever been discovered.”

“It is not denied concentration camps existed,” it later adds. “Tragically, many died of typhus or starvation, as often happens in such situations. There is, however, no evidence that any gassings occurred for the reasons of genocide.”

A spokeswoman for the Rialto Unified School District defended the assignment last week as an exercise in “developing critical thinking skills.” The spokeswoman then told KTLA on Monday that an academic team was revising the assignment.

I think she’s better off not even dignifying Palin a response. Let Palin turn something non-political like the joy of becoming a grandparent into a sleazy attack and the only people who will find it enduring are people who already like Palin and even then that could be a bridge too far given that she did alienate some of her fans with her baptism comments.

Sarah you incomparable something or other…

Her last bit, about baptism and terrorists got this response from my diocese’s quite conservative bishop…

April 28, 2014

Dear Friends and Family of the Diocese of Eau Claire,

In the late 1980’s I sat next to Sarah Palin on a flight from Anchorage to Seattle. Her
husband, Todd, was in a window seat holding their oldest child who was an infant. Sarah was in the middle seat, and I was on the aisle. It was a night flight, and while her husband and son were sleeping, Sarah and I talked through the night. I was a new Navy chaplain in my late 30’s. She was in her 20’s and a sports announcer for an Anchorage television station. We never talked politics, but instead I shared with her things about the Navy and being a chaplain. She taught me a lot about Alaska. I found Sarah to be gracious, attractive, funny, and insightful. From this chance four hour encounter as airplane passengers it is hard for me to think of Sarah Palin unkindly.

This past weekend Sarah made a statement. She supposedly said, “Waterboarding is
how we’d baptize terrorists if I were in charge.” I don’t think her 2008 former running mate, Senator John McCain, would agree. McCain was tortured by the North Vietnamese for over five years. He vehemently opposes water boarding because it is torture. In his general opposition to torture he maintains that if we torture terrorists we have lost the war on terrorism, for we have become just like them. Sometimes we fail to listen to those closest to us. McCain knows more than nearly all of us what torture is. It would help Sarah Palin to listen to the Senator.

As Bishop of Eau Claire I have another problem with Sarah’s comment. She probably
liked the turn of phrase connecting baptism with water boarding. On the surface it might seem cute to some, but the deeper meaning is offensive to me. Water boarding is not some neutral practice. It is an imposed near drowning experience. How can this form of torture be combined with the holy nature of baptism? This isn’t funny. It is sacrilegious. To combine baptism with torture is like binding the sacred with the devil. It belittles baptism and its deep power of making us daughters and sons of God. Sarah needs to come to her senses, for in the tangled web of politics she is subconsciously belittling the Christian faith which I know she holds dear.

With my love and best wishes, I am,

Your brother in Christ,
Jay

It may take awhile but she’ll be marginalized by none but herself and I will praise god that it happens.

No matter though, if Cruz-Paul is the GOP ticket, then they can count on an even bigger defeat than 2008.

IIRC, when asked if he thought Samuel Chase was a crook, President Lincoln replied, “I don’t think he would steal a red hot stove.”

Different Samuel Chase I believe since the one who was impeached died in 1811. You’re probably thinking of Salmon P Chase.

The only thing I don’t understand about that chart is why they couldn’t find a spot for Justice Roy Moore. Did they forget about Ruth Bader Ginsburg, or would adding another wingnut to the list have screwed up the chart?

sigh.

for what it’s worth I finally figured out what direction all this noise is going. I may be late, here, but what the heck I’ll share.

Bottom line: If the cover up had not happened, Romney would have won the election.

The coverup? The Republicans are convinced that not only did Obama’s administration refuse to provide defense in advance and then fail to provide military relief but that they had every reason to believe it was coming — and the ‘we were surprised by the reaction to the video’ excuse was the basis of the cover up of this willful failure of to fill obligations.

Viewed in that light you can see where this is going. They’re aiming for an impeachment. And if they play their cards right (they think) they can impeach other administration officials involved in this ‘cover up’, most importantly Hillary Clinton. Whether they can impeach a retired cabinet member is uncertain, but they’re certain they can impeach her reputation with this. And if the courts accept the impeachment, well, one of the allowed punishments is barring her from holding office ever again.

fwiw, I think an impeachment motion from the house will pass. fwiw, I think that barring extraordinary developments between now and then, the senate will fail to apply any punishments for the impeachment. Further, I strongly suspect that the whole circus will actually work to democratic party advantage in 2016.

in the meantime, we’re doomed to a crescendo of Benghazi wails, the likes of which we’ve not heard since Whitewater.

I mean, okay.

Yes. You see, I myself am all ready to be a grandmother. Unfortunately my daughter and her hubby haven’t produced any kids yet. When they do get around to it, my job will be to interfere with their lives to the extent that I would stand in the way of the aforementioned daughter’s right to control her body.

Note to conservatives: You will have a loooong wait for this particular scenario to occur because, oddly, those are decisions that my daughter and son-in-law will be making, not me.

In the real world, this is undoubtedly true and I considered making a similar comment. The problem is, however, that in Benghazi-land they simply will not believe that there weren’t military assets available to assist or that a stand-down order was not given. These are unassailable facts for these folks. So to them, making the completely accurate observation of “we can still do something about the kidnapped Nigerian girls” would simply beg the question for these idiots: “Well, we could have helped the people in Benghazi, but we didn’t. Why?”

They night be thinking about how easy it was to blow up that mock carrier they built. But without planes, radar stations and operational missile batteries they might have a hard time. We could take care of most of their defenses within 24-48 hours.

From back in January:

“1.8 Million Definite Militia Members” to March on DC, Install New Government

“We have 1.8 million definite militia members coming,” promises Operation American Spring spokeswoman Karen Smith. (The Anti-Defamation League pegs the number of American militia members at about 20,000.) “Other than that, we’re not keeping a list of concerned people or whatever because how are we gonna do that?”

According to Riley’s introductory note, which he posted on Facebook, about 1 million activists will stick around DC after the march in a nonviolent attempt to shut the city down. According to the the document, the real work will occur after the transfer of power: “Those with the principles of a West, Cruz, Lee, DeMint, Paul, Gov Walker, Sessions, Gowdy, Jordan, Issa, will comprise a tribunal and assume positions of authority to convene investigations, recommend appropriate charges against politicians and government employees to the new U.S. Attorney General appointed by the new President.”

re: #115 NJDhockeyfan

Considering that US carriers operate, well, aircraft that will fly hundreds of miles from the carrier to protect the ship from threats, and there’s a cordon of ships and subs whose job is to protect the carrier from a variety of threats, I’d say that the Iranian admiral’s statement is just so much bluster.

Blowing up a stationary mockup of a ship that doesn’t fire back, let alone one that has 70+ aircraft that can deliver payloads hundreds of miles over the horizon, isn’t exactly going to put fear into the USN.

It is possible that the Iranians could hit a US carrier, say in a surprise attack near one of the choke points in the Gulf, and try to overwhelm its defenses with multiple missiles fired from multiple directions, combined with torpedoes (even Shkvals) and mines. In the confined Persian Gulf, the mines and torpedoes could definitely limit carrier operations (but it’s a scenario that the USN trains for and simulates regularly). They also know how to counter those capabilities.

The Russians have spent billions to try and get inside carrier task forces with a variety of subs and missile systems. The Chinese are likewise spending considerable sums to build that deep water capability, along with carriers of their own (which would be subject to US countermeasures).
