Operation American Spring Goes Missing

Far right kooks fail to show up, overthrow America
Wingnuts • Views: 32,866

There were supposed to be “millions” of God-fearing, freedom-loving, gun-hugging American militia crackpots in Washington DC today, taking back America while dodging Obama’s drones.

But somewhere along the way, “millions” became “dozens.” May have to put that “overthrowing America” thing on hold.

I’m not going to embed it here, because it may cause brain damage, but if you must see these Neanderthals in “action” there’s a live video feed here.

This is actually kind of sad.

It also goes some way towards explaining the right’s contempt for Obama’s “community organizing” past - by and large, I suspect they have very little idea of what’s involved in actually building a community movement that will take action requiring personal investment beyond posting on the internet and going to meetings you would have attended anyway (e.g., church).

Horrible reality begins to set in.

Operation American Spring falls flat: ‘This is very disappointing,’ Texan says

Operation American Spring, billed as a Friday morning multi-million patriot march on Washington, D.C., to oust leadership from the nation’s capital — from President Obama to House Speaker John Boeher — has proven woefully below expectations.

“It’s a very dismal turnout,” said Jackie Milton, 61, a Jacksboro, Texas, resident and the head of Texans for Operation American Spring, to The Washington Times. He said hopes were high when he arrived in Alexandria, Va., a day or so ago and found motels and hotels were sold out for 30 miles around.

But weather’s dampened turnout a bit, he said.

“We were getting over two inches of rain in hour in parts of Virginia this morning,” Mr. Milton said. “Now it’s a nice sunny day. But this is a very poor turnout. It ain’t no millions. And it ain’t looking like there’s going to be millions. Hundreds is more like it.”

Ain’t that a shame.

No, it’s not the weather that dampened the turnout, and it’s not that all of a sudden they went from having sold out rooms to being empty.

They never had the numbers in the first place.

For instance, there’s Kayak, which says I can easily find rooms in all price ranges for tonight. If you’re attending this rally from out of state, you’re not going to leave right away, so there’d be residual stays after (to take advantage of the weekend, work on your right wing extremist ties, etc.)

That’s another indicator that they never had the numbers.

Here’s the deal - it’s my subtle way of encouraging you folks to write your own titles instead of using someone else’s. I’ve been getting occasional notes from people at some sites who are not happy when a page consists of nothing but a quote and a link, and even the title is taken from the original article.

This is actually how the posting window for the front page works - it doesn’t grab the title, so that I’m forced to write my own. I really don’t want to get hit with a DMCA take-down notice, so this is an attempt to head that off.

For the morons out there who care about numbers (like it even matters!): ALL YOU NEED IS ONE PERSON TO STAND UP AND SPEAK OUT AGAINST EVIL. It took ONE man to kill a giant, it took one woman to say “I won’t sit in the back of the bus!”, it took ONE starving Indian man to speak up against the abuses of the British Empire. JUST ONE. IT TAKES MORE BRAVERY TO STAND ALONE AGAINST EVIL. So one question…why are you so cowardly?

The FCC Lifeline program for phones - fcc.gov. Started in 1984, under President Reagan and expanded by that other notable Democrat Republican, George W. Bush in 2005.

In 2005, Lifeline discounts were made available to qualifying low-income consumers on pre-paid wireless service plans in addition to traditional landline service. Lifeline is part of the Universal Service Fund.

If every condition has to be perfect for a “revolution” there will never be one, no matter who starts it. : )

It was the whether that did them in.

Whether or not to go.

I’d call BS, because the live cam shows the Washington Monument without the scaffolding that has been in place since the quake damage restoration work began.

And as others have noted, this is from the MLK speech 50th anniversary last year.

Republican.

Can’t wait to see the whole sign. I’m waiting with baited breath. The suspense is terrible; I hope it’ll last.

I think that is a picture of MLK on the poster and I would wager that it says:

MLK was a Repubilcan [sic]

Noted and of course will do.

You had mentioned Raw Story the other day, anyone else in particular likely to get cranky? If anyone complains about my Pages feel free to forward their note, and if an authors apology would ever help of course I’d be happy to. (Having no idea if that even matters on todays internet)

re: #14 iossarian

This is actually kind of sad.

It also goes some way towards explaining the right’s contempt for Obama’s “community organizing” past - by and large, I suspect they have very little idea of what’s involved in actually building a community movement that will take action requiring personal investment beyond posting on the internet and going to meetings you would have attended anyway (e.g., church).

Shown in all its idiocy right here:

For the morons out there who care about numbers (like it even matters!): ALL YOU NEED IS ONE PERSON TO STAND UP AND SPEAK OUT AGAINST EVIL. It took ONE man to kill a giant, it took one woman to say “I won’t sit in the back of the bus!”, it took ONE starving Indian man to speak up against the abuses of the British Empire. JUST ONE. IT TAKES MORE BRAVERY TO STAND ALONE AGAINST EVIL. So one question…why are you so cowardly?
rawstory.com

Think of the jet skis!

There was massive community organizing before Rosa Parks made her move. Errr, didn’t move.

I believe Gandhi had a bit of help also, although he wasn’t starving so maybe that’s not who she means. Can’t speak to the one about the giant.

126 Acemarilllion  May 16, 2014 11:28:47am

Holy crap. That live feed is pure gold.

Some good crank calls coming in. One dude mentioned hearing about OAS on Stormfront and the “host” didn’t bat an eyelash. Seems actually too stupid to realize he is being trolled.

127 CuriousLurker  May 16, 2014 11:30:40am

LMAO: I decided to watch the OAS LIVE 2014 Recording American History for a few minutes and it was hysterical. The third caller told the host how they were doing “God’s work”, then started complaining about how not enough people know about it because the media isn’t covering it. The best part? Right before he hangs us he says:

If I hadn’t heard about it on Stormfront, I wouldn’t have even known it was happening!

It’s a good thing I’d already finished my cup of coffee or it would’ve gotten sprayed all over my keyboard. *snort*

All used the restroom at once. Nice thing about that is there still wouldn’t be much of a line.

Shown in all its idiocy right here:

My daughter, who is in early grade school, knows more about Rosa Parks than this fool.

By the time she started her protest, there had been a ton of groundwork to ensure the boycott would have mass participation and would succeed. Not only that but they had made sure they had people lined up who agreed to be arrested, other people lined up to support those people’s families, etc. etc.

Fucking amateur right-wing molons.

I really don’t want to get hit with a DMCA take-down notice, so this is an attempt to head that off.

ah!

How are they going to run the country if they don’t even know the difference between a capital and the Capitol? *facepalm*

Now they’re whining about all the meanie left wing trolls again. The guy on right now says the Constitution & Bill of Rights have been shredded. Have they ever even read them?? Now they’re talking brownshirts & the Holocaust.

Caller: All the live streams got “knocked down”.

Connors: Yeah, we took “precautions”. Looks like it paid off.

Whose paying for them folding chairs?

The Operation American Spring folks couldn’t organize anything so well-thought and planned as those chairs. Hatred and small-minded cluelessness does not help people govern or plan.

I’m sure those chairs have been set out for the commencement ceremony this Sunday for George Washington University’s graduation.

145 Patricia Kayden  May 16, 2014 1:44:46pm

I have to confess that I cringed with embarrassment when looking at the photos of Operation American Spring which accompany this post, especially all those empty chairs. Those people truly are pathetic and not patriotic as they claim.

Poor things. Not sure when they’ll snap out of their delusions.
