Glenn Greenwald’s the Intercept: Who’s Minding the Store?

Lights are on but nobody’s home
Weird • Views: 27,379

One of the first hires at The Intercept (Glenn Greenwald’s media site funded by billionaire Pierre Omidyar) was blogger Marcy Wheeler, as their “Senior Policy Analyst” — and as we reported yesterday, Wheeler also became the first employee to resign from the seemingly moribund website, with a cryptic comment about “having more to say” at some later date.

As if to point out that something very odd is going on over there, more than a day after Wheeler’s very public bail-out her name is still listed on the site as Senior Policy Analyst.

Glenn Greenwald apparently took so little notice of Wheeler’s resignation, he hasn’t even bothered to tell someone to remove her name from the site. Talk about adding insult to injury.

Marcy was also responsible for updating the web site apparently.

Sorry about dropping the tweet on #1…but given the topic, “looks like rain” is actually appropriate.

But, Charles, GG is a founding editor!

He doesn’t have to mess with such seeming trivialities as running it.

Nor does he have to write shit for the site. His junior editors can simply republish his ghost-written shit from elsewhere.

BTW, I just had some weird shit happen on Firefox. I had to cut the power, restart my computer (which had hung up), got some msgs from AVG about an infection, and even when I “updated” the Firefox program, I got a message that something was still infected. So I had to ditch Firefox for my own sanity.

Using Chrome now.

While posing with her How to Train Your Dragon 2 co-stars on the red carpet, Ukranian TV host Vitalii Sediuk dove headfirst underneath the skirt of Ferrera’s gown

this is not the first time Sediuk has crossed the line with celebrities. Heput his face in Bradley Cooper’s crotch at the SAG Awards, crashed Adele’s speech at the Grammys, and even received a well-earned smack in the face when he attempted to kiss Will Smith.

I just caught a few seconds of the current livestream. No sound because I value my brain cells too much to expose them to weapons grade derp. All I saw was a bunch of white, fat bald guys in camo, and their redneck girlfriends. Oh, and some crazy looking dude ranting at the camera.

I’ve seen bigger crowds waiting in line for concert tickets.

The best part about this OAS nonsense, aside from the dismal turnout, is that these dipshits didn’t think it through. They want Obama, Biden, Reid, McConnell, Boehner, Pelosi, and Holder to resign. Under the rules of succession, that would leave Patrick Leahy in charge, and he’s a Democrat. Oops.

Why cyclists should be able to roll through stop signs and ride through red lights

Both this and the helmet one take positions that are common among cyclists, so I wouldn’t call it trolling, just stupid. It’s one thing to use your judgment about whether to come to a complete stop at a stop sign. It’s something else to demand legal sanction to run them. It’s not worth the ire of the motorists, IMHO.

A Mississippi man who runs a political blog is accused of sneaking into a nursing home where Republican Sen. Thad Cochran’s wife is bedridden and photographing her, then posting the image in a video political “hit piece” on the internet.

Madison, Miss., police arrested Clayton Thomas Kelly, 28, of Pearl on Friday night on a charge of exploitation of a vulnerable adult. He’s being held on a $100,000 bond.

Kelly is accused of sneaking into St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, where Rose Cochran has resided since 2000, suffering from progressive dementia and now bedridden.

Seems a shame that Marcy had to leave so abruptly. It was the perfect home for someone too unstable for FDL. Anyone who had read her stuff would recognize instantly that this doctorate in English literature had mastered that emerging usage the “Greenwald Could” wherein the hypothetical existence of a technical capability implies its daily exploitation. But only for malevolent anti-democratic purposes. Of actual technology she knows nothing. This is very liberating since it allows her base her “could means” on capabilities that exist only in her fantasies.
