Fox’s Dr. Gina Loudon is “Very Concerned About the Mental Stability” of Obama

From the Takes One to Know One Department
Wingnuts • Views: 38,281

On Lou Dobbs’ Fox Business show, Dr. Gina Loudon - whose work is featured in World Net Daily, and who earlier this year wrote that OBAMACARE RESORTS TO HOMO-EROTIC ‘TWERKING’ stated that she is “very concerned about the mental stability of this President.”

Dr. LOUDON: You know, I will say to you, Lou, I am very, very concerned about the mental stability of this President at this point. Some of his behavior seems irrational to me. It seems beyond that of just a typical narcissistic, arrogant, sort of, ‘I’m a leader of a big country and I feel tyrannical at the moment’ kind of attitude. It really seems to me like this President is demonstrating behavior that is not only anti-American, but irrational and erratic and perhaps not exactly what we might want to deem sane.

And here’s more sound psychological analysis from one Dr. Loudon:

Here she argues that Obamacare has caused suicides, here she argues that “Many patriotic, liberty-loving Middle Easterners I know would be happy to cooperate with profiling if it meant that generally speaking, the groping of those who simply don’t fit the profile came to an end,” and here she makes the idiotic argument that allowing same sex marriage could lead to people marrying animals.

Hey lady! You know what one of the surest signs of mental illness is? Believing that everyone else is.

Seriously, didn’t they ever cover the psychological phenomena of ‘projection’ in your classes?

I was going to joke that she must have gotten her doctorate from the same place Orly Taitz got her law degree, but it tuns out she went to a different “distributed learning” diploma mill.

Man, I remember back in the day, Dr. Laura at least had a real PhD. It had nothing to do with anything she says on her show, but at least it was from a real university.

I wrote a story this week about the nationalizing of our health care through Obamacare and what that might mean to our privacy. The psychological impact of Obamacare goes way beyond the practical privacy implications.

As a behavioral expert, I have already heard from people that there is just certain information they don’t feel like they can discuss with a counselor any longer. From older people, I have heard that there are medical conditions they don’t feel they can discuss with their doctors for fear of it being disclosed. From constitutional experts, I have heard that Obamacare essentially leaves constitutional rights, especially the Bill of Rights, in tatters

One day soon I hope she hears from people who know that the plural of anecdote is not data.

21 RealityBasedSteve  Jun 7, 2014 2:36:13pm
Abstract

I examine here the activity of ‘unsolicited diagnosis’ of psychiatric disorder - the act of informing a person that they show signs and symptoms of mental disorder, outside of a patient-professional relationship. Whether unsolicited psychiatric diagnosis is a legitimate ethical activity for psychiatrists (and other healthcare professionals) in which to engage is an issue founded upon the trade-off between potential benefits and harm to the recipient of the diagnosis. However, potential harm specific to a psychiatric diagnosis (such as issues related to stigma, confidentiality and paternalism) suggests that making unsolicited diagnoses of psychiatric disorder is even more ethically fraught than making unsolicited diagnoses of physical disorder. From Psychiatric Bulletin

Making unsolicited diagnosis without any direct contact with the patient is highly suspect at best… but then again, when has that ever stopped Fox?

Loudon does, indeed, have a degree in psychology, which apparently makes her perceptive enough to have noted a “radical shift in psychology” from the “tyrannical left”. Evidence? She has noted that “Leftists subscribe in lock-step, while conservatives shake their heads at the lemming mentality.” No, that’s not the conclusion; it’s her evidence.

Just completed a robo-call poll from the Republicans about the AK Senate race. After confirming I was a registered Republican and would definitely be voting in the August primary (need to stop the big gas tax give-away), I was asked to identify my first two preferences in the Republican primary. (First was Treadwell, then Sullivan). Thought about listing Joe Miller but I didn’t want to give him a glimmer of hope.

Then came the big money question. In the general election would I vote for the Republican candidate or for Democrat Mark Begich? Easy choice…Mark Begich of course!

I wonder if my opinion will actually be counted in the poll? Publicly probably not, but privately it should make the Republican party very nervous.

I expect to be swamped with poling calls this election season.

It drives me nuts the way she merely states repeatedly with different words that Obama is acting irrationally, but then she fails to give a single example. Typical wingnut fare I suppose. Lots of wingnuts——-Beck in particular—— will say that they see some negative behavior “over and over and over again,” and then fail to establish a single instance of whatever they are accusing Obama of.

“Some of his behaviors seems, uh, irrational to me. It seems beyond….”

She reminds me of Palin the way she abuses language. (Maybe the lack of subject/verb agreement was just a slip but I find that sort of error really grating.) But, it was more than just that. It seems like she has studied Palin’s oratorical rhythms, gestures and grammar. What a ninny-hammer!

Over in Eastern Tennessee (Gatlinburg) there is a veritable industry of wedding chapels / mountain cabins. A LOT of the people doing the ceremonies got their ordination through ULC. IIRC the state legislature several years ago tried to shut them down, said they weren’t “REAL” ministers. Apparently the Attorney General pulled some of the leadership aside and told them that they REALLY didn’t want to go down that route, it would just cost the state a ton of money, and would lose each and every court case challenging it.

For full disclosure, I also have a ULC Minstrel ministerial certificate. I believe it’s in the filing cabinet with the official certificate showing that there is a star named after me someplace. Those two pieces of paper, along with 4.94 will get me a grande Mocha at StarBucks.

Excellent - I finally managed to set up a system so I can easily update the jQuery UI library.

And that lets me finally cut out an entire Javascript file from the loading process - the “compatibility fix” for the latest jQuery that adds some deprecated features back in. So all of our pages will now load a bit faster.

Some of the jQuery plugins needed to be changed too - the deprecated jQuery function they were all using was the $.browser() function that determines which web browser and OS the user’s looking at the page with.

Mostly it was changing this:

if ($.browser.msie) { ... }

to this:

if (/msie/i.test(navigator.userAgent)) { ... }

And I thought this was interesting, coming from the IMDb “bio”:

“Gina studied design, communications, and psychology in college. She eventually earned two master’s degrees and a PhD. Dr. Loudon wrote her dissertation on her own theory contrasting Sternberg’s theory of love with the Maslovian hierarchical needs, and then applied it hermeneutically to existing data on relationship. Her original findings in her research are still being used today.

Her first master’s degree from St. Louis University was withheld from her for what she believed were political reasons, but it was eventually granted to her years later. This experience opened her eyes to political and social injustice. (my emphasis)

She doesn’t call herself “Dr.” here or use “Ph.D” after her name, either. Heh.

I know Woody Allen isn’t a popular figure around here, understandably. That aside, this ‘doc Loudon’ reminds me of the main character in his film Zelig.

Leonard Zelig takes on the characteristics of those around him. The film uses old historical footage with Zelig right there in the thick of it all, and he passes for whoever he is around. Zelig wants to be accepted so much he physically changes to fit in with those around him. If I remember correctly he is seen in one scene working with Freud and then explains he worked with Freud on penis envy studies.

Doc Loudon is Zelig.

(And Zelig was way before Forrest Gump. It is one of Allen’s better films in my opinion due to the way he puts himself into historic pictures before there were digital effects.)

Heh.

I have a PhD in Theology from the Universal Life Church; about 20 years ago, a good friend of mine bought for me for my birthday, along with being an ordained ULC minister. Of course, I’ve never used it, and aside from my Buckaroo Banzai - inspired handle, I would never pass myself off as a doctor of anything. I’ve never even used my ordination. It’s more of a humorous gag to me.

My daughter and son-in-law were married by a friend and neighbor of ours who is a ULC minister (from way back in his hippie days.) The kids were happy to have someone they knew perform the ceremony, and it wasn’t deemed necessary to tell the in-laws exactly what sort of minister married them.
Neither side is religious so there wasn’t an obvious choice of who perform the ceremony and the state of California doesn’t care at all as long as everyone signs the paperwork. (Anyone can get a license to perform a ceremony on a given day upon payment of a small fee. I know a couple married by their real estate agent…)

So, what text interpretations does that dissertation contain? I’ll bet you would not find one paper of hers in all the peer reviewed writings in psychology or that made up “specialty” of hers anywhere.

What it sounds like is that she wrote a paper based on how women should be submissive to their husbands according to biblical principles.

94 BongCrodny  Jun 7, 2014 3:52:36pm

An article from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has this to say about the good doctor:

There was John, a good-looking Republican state senator from Chesterfield, and his perky and attractive wife, Gina, a radio personality and self-described “politicologist” who styled herself as “Dr. Gina” after she got a Ph.D. in human behavior from an online university in California.

No spoilers, but anyone who knows anything about it already knows it’s “Groundhog Day vs. Aliens.” A lot of humor in it as well, and the funny spots were well-placed.

Here in the highly enlightened and democratic People’s Republic of China, a common way to discredit Party officials who don’t follow the (current) Party line is to state publicly that they are mentally unsound and therefore had to “retire” to recover. Dissidents were also commonly “treated” for “mental illness” though, supposedly this practice has been stopped.

So, it seems Dr Gina has studied some of the poli-psy practices of the Chinese and applied them here to explain how the tyrannical Muslim fascist socialist anti-colonial usurper is so crazy as to let Dr Gina suggest he is crazy on national TV.
