Dumbest Man on the Internet: Vegas Terrorists Were “Neo-Nazi Socialists”

Of course

There’s a reason why Jim Hoft, fabled Dumbest Man on the Internet, wins awards from right wing groups for “accuracy,” and it has nothing to do with accuracy. He’s a wingnut hero because he’s the most shameless attack dog in the right wing kennel, willing to say anything at all, no matter how patently ridiculous, to defend the “cause” (whatever that is).

Today’s case in point: Las Vegas Police Shooters ID’d: Married, Meth-Using Neo-Nazi Socialists | the Gateway Pundit.

Yes! He’s actually claiming that since they were “neo-Nazis,” this makes them “socialists.” You can’t make up this kind of idiotic wharrgarbl.

The Las Vegas police shooters were identified as two Neo-Nazi socialists.
Neighbors said “Jared” and “Amanda” had talked about killing police officers then going underground until the time was right to come out and kill some more.
They were also meth-heads.

[…]

The conspiracy nuts were drug addicts.

[…]

The couple was using meth.

It’s like free verse written by a sub-literate idiot.

And by the way, Las Vegas officials announced today that the Millers were not neo-Nazis at all — they put a swastika on one of the policemen they murdered, as a statement that cops are like Nazis.

So Hoft’s entire premise (if you can call it that) was stupidly wrong, right from the get-go.

Don’t expect a correction — that’s not how right wing attack dogs roll.

well when your comprehension of labels and understanding the political pragmatism of their use is sadly lacking, it’s easy to understand why guys like Hoft have such issues…..

Communism, Fascism, Nazism, Socialism… there’s a lot of isms out there and apparently Hoft missed that week in 11th grade civics where they discussed what those terms really meant and completely missed the boat on the whole propaganda and naming conventions that took place in the late 20th century.

This is the kind of thing that allows folks like Hoft to stay up late buying products that are both floor waxes and dessert toppings…..

Have they decided which video games to blame yet?

29 Aunty Entity Dragon  Jun 9, 2014 12:45:26pm

This is s particularly disturbing manifestation of No True Scotsman. Over the past few years since Jonah “Doughy Pantload” Goldberg started calling progressives “Nazis”, wingnuts have latched onto the “National Socialist” part of the acronym to yell that the Nazis were not right wing at all and that ALL dictatorships from Pinochet to Idi Amin were all actually lefty socialists.

It’s also a total crock of shit, as anyone who has taken a poly sci class knows. Nazis and other right wing bad guys love capitalism and money…and make it serve the needs of the state warmachine while lining their own pockets (lotsa examples of German officers doing this). Right wing totalitarianism seeks to return the state to a mythic past glory that was undermined and betrayed by (fill in the blank scapegoat group), ergo it relies on social reactionary conservatism. Workers and the poor are ignored unless they are carrying rifles or building them.

Communism seeks to bring the state to a glorious mythic future that has never existed before and punishes those who keep society from moving into this promised land. Capitalism is out the window and the state decides what the priorities are for building etc. Workers and the poor get a lot more attention initially, but end up carry rifles or building them to deal with those Nazi guys who are also building and carrying rifles.

Both groups are utterly, diamtetrically opposed in philosophy but still end up as totalitarian nightmares.

The wingnuts ignore this so that they can call everybody they don’t like a “Nazi” and disown their comrades who kill under a Gadsden flag.

Curious to see how Hoft “reasons” his way out of this particular paper bag. By first throwing any sensible definitions to the wind with the remarkable construction “Neo-Nazi Socialists”, he has essentially painted himself into a corner - if Nazis were socialists, and these folks thought the police were bad because they were like Nazis, then they can’t still be socialists.

Now, if he’d just stuck with Neo-Nazis, he might have been able to save it by saying they turned out to be socialists, but no, it was too important to try to make them out to be leftists.

It’s the eyebulbs. Much too close together.

48 GeneJockey  Jun 9, 2014 12:58:37pm

I was skeptical of Hoft’s being the dumbest man on the internet, till a wingnut friend sent me a link to one of Hoft’s posts, purporting to show that Obama had used an electric pen to sign letters to families of soldiers killed in action.

To my entirely untrained eye, it was patently obvious that the signatures were not identical, and I pointed this out to my friend - the intersections of various letters, the termination of loops, etc - clearly a much-practiced signature, as any politician would have, but just as clearly not done by electric pen, unless the electric pen were sufficiently sophisticated that it subtly alters each successive signature so it looks a little different.

His response? Nothing.

Three months later he sent me ANOTHER Hoft link. This one was bitching at Obama for sending a form letter to the families of soldiers killed in action. It contained the same pictures as the first post. I pointed out that ALL Presidents send form letters like that. It’s not like they have personal reminiscences of the deceased to share!

So, while Jim Hoft may be the dumbest man on the internet, consider that there are a LOT of people out there dumb enough to take him seriously.

My God…this is actually on Millers page

He posted that on May 28th. No wonder the Freepers are panicked.

50 Kragar  Jun 9, 2014 12:59:29pm

Jones explained that conspirators were using Batman villain The Joker as a “programming template for mind control” because Jerad Miller had dressed as comic book character while he was in Las Vegas.

As evidence, the host began yelling that Aurora shooter James Holmes — who killed 12 people at a Batman movie in 2012 — had been part of a mind-control program called “MK-ULTRA.”

“[Sen. Majority Leader] Harry Reid comes out and says we’re going to do something about this, these are domestic terrorists at the Bundy ranch, everybody needs to be arrested,” Jones continued. “I told you they’ve been building this behind the scenes, now they’re rolling it out.”

“Would they stage this now? The answer is absolutely,” he insisted. “If they would stage al Qaeda attacks, if they would do all of this, would they do this to get our guns and blame the Tea Party that’s sweeping in every runoff election and every primary right now? Defeating, in almost every case, 90 percent of Republican incumbents are going down! 1776 is happening, peacefully, through the system. They want to start a civil war with the police.”

Jones speculated that the government had sent CIA “cutouts” to the Pizza shop to kill the officers.

I don’t dislike or disapprove the basic idea of the preppers, it’s just that many in the subculture are clueless imbeciles.
Another example was the numbskull who was found to have 2 million rounds of ammunition stashed in his suburban frame house when police searched it for stolen goods. The boxes were just stacked willy-nilly in every available space, including next to a floor furnace and 18 inches from a worn out hot water heater. The place would have gone up like a volcano in a fire, probably with no warning to first responders.
The prepper culture puts WAY too much emphasis on vast arsenals and secret hide-aways. This reflects a racist belief that the primary hazard will be zombie-like hordes of “others” who will swarm out of the inner cities to loot and pillage as soon as welfare fails.

re: #81 calochortus

There’s being prepared and then there are preppers. I have a rough plan for how we’ll get along for a few days after an earthquake. Food, water, shelter. On the other hand, if it is such a massive quake that it brings down the hillside next door, well then. No. I’m not sure what I’d do about that anyway. For the record, my plan does not include shooting anyone or refusing to share with my neighbors.

I’m sort of the same way. I’ve got a couple of cases of bottle water, ramans, noodle mixs, rice, canned / bagged chicken & tuna and camping alcohol stove and fuel. (same stuff I eat when bicycle touring). A warm sleeping bag and a first aid kit. A pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. All (except for the water) in an old gym bag.

That way if power goes out, tornado, things like that I’ve got food, water, some warm clothes. Not planning on zombies. Planning for a couple of days (probably 3 days food) while systems get put in place.

re: #74 Shiplord Kirel

Hmm.

That post attracted an appreciative comment from another InfoWars user, Amanda, whose profile uses the same maiden name - Woodruff - as Amanda Miller, along with the same birth year and hometown as the shooting suspect.

“Jerad, baby, I love you with all my heart and I’ll stand behind you no matter what,” wrote Amanda, whose avatar appears to be Amanda Miller. “It’s true that its not fair that i can’t have a gun because you live with me. I know its not right that my rights get taken away from me because I live in the same home as you but I would love to see them try and enforce that. My love for you is deep and forever and f-ck what they have to say cause they have no right to do what they say is not right.”

The InfoWars user Amanda also claims the same job — head of the needlepoint department for Hobby Lobby — as Amanda Miller’s Facebook profile.

The InfoWars user Jerad also complains in a 2012 post that he hadn’t seen a dentist in 14 years because he lacks insurance, Medicaid, and a job.

Actually he was - It just wasn’t quite right/left defined. Read his manifesto (if you can) - It’s clearly a political document. He had an ideology and consistent (if not coherent) worldview.

He was so way out into The Matrix that his idea of what was going on in the world bore no resemblance to any political party because he was beyond what any current major political party cares about. Yesterday a RWNJ said he thinks Obama waited until last week to do the POW-Taliban swap because Rush was on vacation. When I asked if he really thought the POTUS was afraid of what Rush might say on his radio show, the subject was changed.

Except maybe George Will’s “College Girls are falsely reporting rapes to get their sweet, sweet victim cred”

Will is a dinosaur. He looks about 65, but sounds 1000 years old, whether he’s talking about rape or anything else, like fashion. He actually wrote a piece a few years back about the destructive effects of denim jeans on American culture. Brilliant Argument Of The Day

When liberals claim that higher state spending on public assistance programs boosts the economy — by increasing the purchasing power of recipients for example — they are ignoring the results of 62 academic studies published on the issue since 1990. In two- thirds of them, higher state spending on public assistance was associated with less economic growth, not more.

FACT!

Brush fire in a swamp…yikes!

Everglades wildfire expands to 19,500 acres

The wildfire that blanketed South Florida in thick smoke Monday now has exploded in size, covering about 19,500 acres in western Broward County - up from 2,500 acres earlier in the day.

It also remains uncontained.

“I’ve never seen smoke like this before,” said Scott Peterich, Florida Forest Service spokesman, adding that firefighters are mostly monitoring the blaze, rather than attempting to battle it. “It’s so massive that about the only thing we can do is hope that it burns itself out.”

234 Lidane  Jun 9, 2014 2:44:07pm

Freepers still in denial:

This fits too perfectly with the leftist agenda, I just don’t and won’t believe it without proof.

We are living in dark times, the media has shown conclusively they are willing to say and do (or not ask and don’t do) whatever it takes to further the leftist agenda. Gone, GONE are the days of journalistic integrity and in it’s place, a form of relativistic moralism that says, “It’s a lie, but we know it’s true anyway, we just can’t prove it. So we will report it as true, even if there is no proof. We will continue to do so until caught, and then even after. It’s all justified, because we say it’s justified”

We know this is the case after the faked Bush National Guard story. There is no reason to believe that kind of propaganda isn’t continuing today. In fact probably more so now.

So Obama regimes brazen tyranny stoked the insanity.

All massacres are caused by Democrats or ….What?

Precisely. ‘RATS are anti-God, pro-abortion and thus have no regard whatsoever for life. And, of course, all of the mass murders of the past few centuries have been perpetrated by leftists including Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro and other such liberals.

White Supremacy angle

In May, Miller ranted about dying for ‘freedom’.

‘There is no greater cause to die for than liberty,’ he wrote. ‘Soon they will come for us, because they don’t like what we think, and what we say.

‘They don’t like the fact that we, simply will not submit to fascist rule. We don’t have much, but we are willing to sacrifice everything… for you, for your freedoms.’

‘They were handing out white-power propaganda and were talking about doing the next Columbine,’ neighbor Brandon Moore told the Las Vegas Sun.

That’s about the worst San Diego’s weather ever gets. Even here in LA, we envy San Diego’s climate.

It might be high 60s to low 70s here today, but it’s like 90% humidity. I don’t live in Florida for a reason*, to avoid that crap and here it is.

I hope something like that doesn’t happen, because that’s really going to make an already bad situation in Brazil even worse.

I can’t imagine what would happen if there were a major stadium collapse, like the Fidenae Amphitheater Collapse of 27 AD, which killed around 20,000 people.

Ammon Bundy told The Associated Press that Jerad and Amanda Miller were asked to leave his father’s ranch after being there for a few days this spring.

He said that while details were still sketchy, the Millers’ conduct was the problem. He called the couple “very radical” and said they did not “align themselves” with the protest’s main issues.

“Not very many people were asked to leave,” he said. “I think they may have been the only ones.”

The media is already moving at breakneck speed to connect these terrorists to the Tea Party and Cliven Bundy and are using what is alleged to be the shooter’s Facebook page to make the connection. Facebook, by leaving his page on line is advocating for the anti gun leftists.

If these terrorists had been been Obama supporters, do you think that Facebook would have kept the page on line?

The reality is that were, in fact, supporters of the obama/holder cabal. The shooter, Jarad Miller, was a neo-Nazi and thus a socialist, just like obama. And he was a racist, again just like obama. And furthermore, Miller was a dope user, just like obama. His appearance at Mr. Bundy’s Ranch was part of a false flag operation, designed to discredit the American Patriots standing in opposition to obama’s shredding of the Constitution.

Does the effeminate Jarad Miller, pictured above, look anything even remotely like a Conservative? NOT AT ALL!

Unfortunately, the wingnuts are diligently trying to close that gap.

As I posted before, the only thing the wingnuts lack is a charismatic leader to unify them into a single black hole of hate. They have their own media, they have their own reality, and they have their own financial backers; they only lack The Leader. I hope such a person never appears.

Like how it was explained in 1984.

For purposes of engineering, say, building rockets and airplanes and bridges, of course 2+2 must equal 4; but for purposes of ideology, 2+2 will equal 5 if that is what the ideology demands.

Yes. The guy who I heard that term from is a polymer chemist, who tried to tell me about ‘presupposition’, and how he ‘presupposed’ that if he mixed certain chemicals together and heated them just so they’d polymerize in a particular way.

I pointed out it wasn’t presupposition at all. If he’d already done it, and it worked, then it was a conclusion. If he hadn’t done it and was just testing it, it was an hypothesis.

That gets to the TP’ers idea of “creative destruction”.

From their point of view, they need to destroy the United States in its current form in order to rebuild it in their image, which they feel is the proper one. Therefore, a national debt default and the ensuing economic crisis that would generate would contribute enormously to that cause.

That’s the largely unspoken reason many TP’ers were pushing for a debt default.

DAFUQ???

445 Backwoods_Sleuth  Jun 9, 2014 4:36:15pm

Company Creates Blanket for Tornado Protection

An Oklahoma company has created a protective blanket that developers say could give children a better chance of surviving debris from a tornado — or bullets from a 9 mm handgun.
The Bodyguard Blanket, made by ProTecht, is a bulletproof pad designed to protect students during disasters at school. The 5/16-inch thick rectangle features backpack-like straps that allow users to put it on, and then duck and cover.
Steve Walker developed the pad, The Oklahoman reported ( bit.ly ). Walker started on the idea after a massive tornado struck last year in Moore, killing 24 people including seven children inside an elementary school that didn’t have a tornado shelter.
“We’re trying to stop that blunt-force trauma when that rubble is falling down on a child, for instance,” said Walker, a podiatrist from Edmond.

So, the guy developed the product in response to the Moore, OK, tornado to protect kids at school from tornado debris, but because it can also supposedly protect kids from 9mm bullets, people jumped all over THAT application.

re: #444 nsmith25

Just read this and all I have to say is

DAFUQ???

In his piece today called The Bowtied Monster, Charles Pierce says

In 1977, while awarding him that year’s prize in distinguished commentary, the Pulitzer committee said about George F. Will that he was “at home with a wide variety of topics, from international relations, campaigns, and urban problems to the history of machine guns and the vagaries of the press.” This was before Will was recognized as the thoroughgoing disgrace to the craft of journalism that he is, before we knew that he was a working advisor to the Reagan campaign in 1980 while masquerading as an independent observer in his column and for ABC. It was before he proved himself to be a big old ‘ho for the crooked Conrad Black. It was before he proved himself to be a smug, petulant dilettante who is willing to flirt with racism — Go back and study his coverage of the Jesse Jackson campaign in 1988 — and who is willing to throw himself whole hog into climate change denialism, and, now, today, at Hiatt’s House Of Hacks, George Will is someone who has nothing better to do than mock the current movement on America’s campuses to try and cope with the problems of rape and sexual assault, and trolling its victims while jacking it into his dogeared copy of Bartlett’s. For laughs.

So. The Vegas mess. Did I hear that right on the nightly news? The Walmart customer was also armed but they killed him when he tried to stop them?

Did you see the thing she and Bristol posted (on FB, I think?) about Bergdahl and Rosetta Stone? She is so petty and low class.

Sarah took Rosetta Stone for Word Salad.

Well, in that case, it’s true that Rosetta Stone works!

Yep. The customer was a licensed CCW carrier and pulled his gun to approach them. They shot and killed him before he could even get a shot off.

So much for the “good guys with guns” meme. Although I doubt the gun-worshipping right wing will allow it to be spun that way.

re: #455 Lidane

Yep, so neither the guy with the concealed carry permit, nor the trained, armed law enforcement officers were able to do anything. But, we’re supposed to believe that everyone should be armed, because they could stop these kinds of things. Uh huh.

(Not to mention Charles’ point that, if the guy with the CCW permit had just walked away, instead of pulling the gun on them, he’d still be alive. So spreading the myth of the good guys vs. the bad guys actually led to that guy’s death.)

I’m waiting for some public spirited Christian educator (perhaps in Lubbock) to propose that each child be issued his or her own firearm, perhaps one of those chipmunk rifles for the really little ones, graduating to ARs and the like for high schoolers. Lots of school districts now provide each student with laptops, the guns would be in the same cost range if the NRA could arrange bulk discounts. What could go wrong?

Tape a claymore to the teacher’s desk. “This Side Towards Students”.

Company Creates Blanket for Tornado Protection

So, the guy developed the product in response to the Moore, OK, tornado to protect kids at school from tornado debris, but because it can also supposedly protect kids from 9mm bullets, people jumped all over THAT application.
smh

Assuming that the kids would be able to hold onto them in a storm and it wouldn’t turn into a giant sail, I’m not sure I understand how exactly something like that is going to help when the cinderblocks come down overhead.

The Mythbusters concept referenced upthread was for use out in the open and even then it included metal plates at the head to help deflect debris.

Because no kids ever walked into their own school and shot it up because they were social outcasts. OH WAIT.

This has always been the obvious flaw in the “armed teachers” bullshit the NRA spews out. While the teacher is attempting to retrieve his/her weapon, the guys with the guns already out kill them.

Duh. Sure couldn’t see that coming, nope, not at all.

I’m sure they would work every bit as well as “duck and cover” would have worked during a nuclear attack when I was a kid.

This is why police who are expecting trouble approach with guns already drawn. Unlike what you see in the Western movies, it is not plausible to try to out-draw the bad guy, especially when carrying concealed.

And you try to reduce all the variables, all the chaos. This guy was a knucklehead (sorry, but it’s true) and didn’t account for all the variables. He didn’t HAVE to try to stop them, he wasn’t forced to as a last resort.

Hey all, haven’t read the whole thread yet, but wanted to mention this worthwhile article about the LV shooters and chemtrail theories that I paged:

The whole concept of “building reinforced safe rooms in public facilities” is apparently right out.

Sigh.
