Florida woman kidnaps her child because she doesn’t want him vaccinated and “brainwashed”

A YOUNG mother has gone on the run with her two-year-old daughter after she refused to have the child vaccinated and “brainwashed” in school with lessons about slavery.

Megan Elizabeth Everett, 22, was supposed to return her daughter, Lilly, to the child’s father Robert Baumann, with whom she has a shared custody agreement.

Instead Ms Everett disappeared, leaving a note for Mr Baumann explaining her behaviour.

She wrote: “If I let them take her and vaccinate her and brainwash her, I wouldn’t be doing what’s right. I cannot let a judge tell me how my daughter should be raised. We will miss you. But I had to leave.”

Ms Everett, from Sunrise, Florida, had supposedly resolved a custody battle with Mr Baumann in April with the parents agreeing 50/50 custody.

I know this was Florida, but this isn’t JUST a Florida problem it’s an America problem.

And I’m not sure how to fix it,

‘Killer bees’ found in Colorado

Africanized honeybees have turned up in Colorado, officials said last week, surprising scientists who previously doubted that they could survive winters at northern latitudes.

The Mesa County Health Department said that a peach grower contacted authorities last month to report abnormally aggressive behavior at a beehive in his orchard in Palisade, Colo., about 45 miles east of the Utah border.

Specimens were shipped to a U.S. Department of Agriculture laboratory in California and the hive was destroyed, the department said.

“This is the farthest north that Africanized honeybees have been reported,” the health department said.

Bob Hammon, an entomologist with Colorado State University, said the fact that the bees were found in the spring suggests they survived through the winter.

Toxic Honey

Some substances which are toxic to humans have no effect on bees. If bees obtain their nectar from certain flowers, the resulting honey can be psychoactive, or even toxic to humans, but innocuous to bees and their larvae.

There have been famous episodes of inebriation of humans from consuming toxic honey throughout history. For example, honey produced from nectar of Rhododendron ponticum contains alkaloids that are poisonous to humans but do not harm bees. Xenophon, Aristotle, Strabo, Pliny the Elder, and Columella all document the results of eating this “maddening” honey. Honey from these plants poisoned Roman troops in the first century BC under Pompey the Great when they were attacking the Heptakometes in Turkey. The Roman soldiers became delirious and nauseous after eating the toxic honey, leading to an easy defeat.

While many studies have focused on how mindfulness meditation affects newcomers to the practice, a new study out of the University of Pittsburgh examined the brains of long-time meditators specifically when they were not meditating. “MRI scans show that after an eight-week course of mindfulness practice, the brain’s ‘fight or flight’ center, the amygdala, appears to shrink. This primal region of the brain, associated with fear and emotion, is involved in the initiation of the body’s response to stress. As the amygdala shrinks, the pre-frontal cortex - associated with higher order brain functions such as awareness, concentration and decision-making - becomes thicker.”

Who was it that stated there haven’t been acid attacks on women in the Western World?

Second Acid Attack in One Week Leaves Woman Scarred

North America and Europe[edit]
As detailed in the “History” section below, acid attacks in the United States and the United Kingdom were common during the 18th century but have since declined as the judicial system became more developed.[5] Currently acid assault in the US occurs as minorities and shows a correlation with alcohol and/or drug abuse, with specific trends associated with different states. The United Kingdom has the highest male:female victim ratio (6.14:1),[44] while recently there has been a surge in high profile, public acid attacks in Bulgaria and Greece.[5] Additionally, the government of New Brunswick, Canada, has identified acid burns as a common form of violence against women.[5]

The number of assaults involving acid throwing and other corrosive substances has tripled in six years in England, official records show. NHS hospital figures record 144 assaults in 2011/12 involving corrosive substances, which can also include petrol, bleach and kerosene. Six years earlier, 56 such episodes were noted. Experts say they believe many of the cases involving acid are linked to communities of immigrants from Asia, with women attacked by their husbands or punished for refusing forced marriages.[45]

47 FemNaziBitch  Jun 16, 2014 3:58:25am
Maya Angelou quote:

“I married a man once because of something he said. We were in England, and somebody said that women should always expect to be raped if they wore very short pants and low decolletage and acted “fast.” So this man, whom I knew slightly, said, “If a woman has no panties on and sits with her legs wide open, no man has the right to assault her. When a guy tells me, ‘I couldn’t resist because she did sit in such a provocative way,’ all I want to know is if four of her brothers were standing there with baseball bats, would they have resisted?”

Watched a little bit of the LeMans race over the weekend. Audi swept the top spots.

Audi, dominant here for so long, found themselves in the unusual position of being billed as the tortoise, to the hares of Toyota and Porsche. With all three manufacturers adopting different approaches to energy recovery systems that have cut fuel usage by up to 30% this year, the latter had the edge in pace but when the 24 hours had counted down it was for the 13th time in 16 years an Audi that crossed the line in first place.

Did I mention the Audi R18 is a diesel? One team even finished well in spite of the fact of having to swap out a turbo-charger, Not bad, for an Audi.

James Joyce Ulysses:

Birmingham underlines the irony in this: The obscenity laws that banned the novel in America and England were supposedly meant to “protect the delicate sensibilities of female readers.” The first major push against the Little Review in the early 1920s was initiated by a businessman who discovered a copy of the magazine among his teenage daughter’s possessions and freaked out after reading the section of “Ulysses” Joyce called “Nausicca.” (It features a young girl named Gertie MacDowell displaying her legs to protagonist Leopold Bloom at the beach. The businessman’s daughter claimed she never bought the magazine and that it had simply appeared in the mail one day. Sure.) This protective outrage represented a holdover from 19th-century notions of novels (especially French novels) as dangerous reading for young girls. How easily their impressionable minds could be filled with dreams of passionate love and their moral fiber loosened! It was not men like Bloom the censors feared would be inflamed by books like “Ulysses,” but girls like Gertie MacDowell.

Here’s a better story. I’m wondering if Ukraine will siphon off any gas in the pipeline not promised to European countries?

Russia’s Gazprom cuts gas to Ukraine in a new phase of their conflict

washingtonpost.com

MOSCOW — Russia cut off gas supplies to Ukraine on Monday, opening a new front in the months-long conflict between the two countries as an end to hostilities appeared further away than ever.

“The two sides appeared Monday to be readying for a protracted battle. Ukraine’s prime minister directed that emergency measures be put in place, and the head of Ukraine’s state-owned natural gas company said it could go without new supplies of gas until December, if necessary.

(snip)

“Russia also on Monday halted the importation of Ukraine’s agricultural products, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk told a cabinet meeting, without offering any more specifics. That would deal a second harsh blow to the fragile Ukrainian economy, for which Russia is a major export market.”

European countries only get 15% of their gas from Russia; they could find another source more than likely. And Ukraine could find other markets for its agricultural products. How all this is handled will be the real test, along with stopping the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

Russia is lying so much about its involvement in the eastern sector and is fomenting real civil war. They deserve world wide condemnation.

Gunmen kill at least 48 in attack on Kenyan coast

At least 48 people were killed when gunmen in two minibuses sped into a town on Kenya’s coast, shooting soccer fans gathered to watch a World Cup match in a television hall and targeting hotels and a bank, police and witnesses said on Monday.

Police said Somalia’s Al Shabaab Islamist group was most likely to blame for Sunday night’s assault on the town of Mpeketoni, which lies on the Indian Ocean coastline that runs north from Kenya’s main port of Mombasa to the Somali border.

He claims to have been lost but had been through that border crossing at least three times according to reports.

First it was claimed that it was a “seekrit, unmarked” border crossing he just made a “blind turn” and BANG! he was in Mexico. Then people started asking “where is this seekrit border crossing? I want to see it for myself.” He said it was on the I-5 which is a major freeway.

Then he changed his story saying the traffic was too heavy and he could not get into the ‘U.S. only” left lane and was “corralled” into the Mexico lane.

I can think of one place on the US/Canada border where you take a “blind right turn” and BANG! you’re on the Bridge going into Canada. That’s the turn out of the Duty Free Store parking lot.

Of course to GET INTO the DFS parking lot, you have to pass under a liftgate that says “ALL VEHICLES MUST PROCEED TO CANADA”

Well, both borders are inevitably highly porous, because they both have gigantic portions of uninhabited land along them. But we’ve got a lot of people patrolling the border, yeah.

The facts of the case will need a bit of time to settle. I haven’t seen if it’s confirmed that he both crossed the border on foot and in his car on the same day.

I think we have to stop and think about whether the immigration situation is due to racism or actual work issues. I’m not going to question whether or not a person is here legally or illegally—that’s not my job. But the fact remains that in working class communities all over, there is a large underground economy in which workers are paid “under the table” and thus escape scrutiny. This goes for citizens and non-citizens. It’s especially true in construction (and all the trades where sub-contracting is practiced and it’s a ubiquitous practice). When I suggest that it’s the employers who are breaking the law, they laugh because they know there will never be any repercussions.

I don’t have any problems with immigrants—whether they come here legally or not. But the resentment among the working class, where they see themselves as scapegoats who pay the price for what companies are doing illegally, has probably affected them more than any others, the economic effect of which can’t be measured accurately. Most immigrants from across the southern border are not sought out for their education and expertise as employment-based, sponsored immigrants. Maybe this will flesh itself out in the long run, maybe not, as more people seek more education, if those opportunities are available to them.

When we ignore this phenomenon and don’t figure out how to correct it, we just get more reactionary types who allow themselves to be guided by the Rush Limbaughs of this country.

Reporters are little more versed on those kinds of subjects than the people they’re covering. Some are little more than transcription people who can’t or wont ask tough questions of the subjects, knowing that if they did ask those kinds of questions, they’d never have access to them again.

Of course, once those questions and responses reveal that the subject is batcrap insane, it would take care of itself since these kinds of folks would be revealed for who and what they are.

Reporters are not doing the job of asking the tough questions. We see that all the time, on scandals, kerfuffles, and relying on fluff pieces rather than true investigative journalism.

Wow, traffic has certainly picked up since I visited Tijuana in the early ’60s.

I remember people going over to purchase certain items, like Pepsi Cola, which was much sweeter and less crisp than the American version and only cost around $1.00 for a case of 24. (They are not tankers, BTW. The white ones are hoppers, for transporting dry materials like soybeans or chemicals, and the red ones are box cars for packaged cargo, like fruit in cardboard boxes.)

No way would any North American railroad permit that many people riding on top. The railway cops would have chased such a mob off.

Yeah, the people immediately championing this guy, immediately giving his story credence, led naturally to an actual look at the facts of the case. Lots of covered hoppers used in the industry I do IT support for. Carrying polypropylene pellets about. Grain transportation is probably the largest use of covered hoppers though. That photo is plausible for trains inside Mexico. Reuters had an expose of the train of death - trains heading north towards the US that migrant workers would climb aboard in the hopes of getting to the border (and there are similar reports from other outlets, though I haven’t found the specific photo Pie-onist noted above). The photos are taken from the border between Mexico and Guatemala, which is poorly monitored.

They can’t actually get across the border on the train because the trains are checked, but once they’re close enough to the border, they can attempt other means of crossing (usually on foot, but smuggled across is another possibility).

Any attempt to deal with the border with Mexico means having to address the fact that Mexico can’t stop people from crossing into Mexico from the South, and then working their way up towards the US.

OK, so my first guess was way wrong. These people are in Central America trying to get into Mexico, so they can try to cross the US border by more conventional means. Border police — even in Mexico — would definitely notice a huge crowd sitting atop freight cars and force the train to stop.

So, the RWNJs have transported a freight train from the southern Mexican border to the Rio Grande (o el Río Bravo como lo se llama en México), implying without any proof that hordes of illegals are riding the rails into the USA.

As if it were that easy.

You see stories about that in anyplace that is having hard times. Refugees from various wars. Citizens during shortages due to war or recessions, etc. Coal will bounce out of cars hauling it, or will spill while loading up the transport cars or supply cars for the engine.

What, Mississippi is doing this?

Miss.: Consumers harmed by credit reporting giant

bigstory.ap.org

“Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood’s complaint against Experian Information Solutions was filed without fanfare last month in a Biloxi state courthouse and transferred to Mississippi federal court late last week. The lawsuit accuses Experian of knowingly including error-riddled data in the credit files of millions of Americans, jeopardizing their ability to obtain loans, employment-related background checks and sensitive government security clearances. Experian has even wrongly reported that consumers are on a federal terrorism watch list, the lawsuit said.

(snip)

“Experian warned investors earlier this year that the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and its British counterpart were regulatory agencies responsible for protecting consumers and said, “It remains uncertain how these bodies may affect our credit and consumer business processes and business models in the future.”

“Experian told investors that, to the best of its knowledge, it complies with data protection requirements, but it warned that, “We might fail to comply with international, federal, regional, provincial, state or other jurisdictional regulations, due to their complexity, frequent changes or inconsistent application and interpretation.”

Some folks in the Gulf are getting nervous

GCC wary over US-Iran cooperation in Iraq

The prospect of US-Iranian cooperation over the latest developments in Iraq will be watched closely by GCC states already wary of a pending nuclear agreement between the two former foes that could potentially bring Iran out of its current international isolation. “If there is a real cooperation between the US and Iran regarding clamping down on jihadist militants in Iraq, this would improve Iran’s global stature tremendously and the lifting of international sanctions could follow, which GCC states would not like,” Theodore Karasik, from the Institute for Near East and Gulf Military Analysis told Gulf News. Eight members of ‘ISIS cell’ arrested in Spain

Spanish police say they have detained eight people on suspicion of recruiting militants to fight in Syria and Iraq.

They suspect the cell of trying to send jihadists to join the militant group ISIS - the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.

Why do you say it’s a bad idea? Just reflexive “Iran Bad” without thinking of diplomatic and entanglement opportunities, or are there specifics that you’ve discovered with which you have concerns?

I’m generally opposed to more military intervention in Iraq right now and the prospect of assisting Iran doesn’t help. It upsets the balance of power in the region, gives Iran extra leverage in nuclear negotiations, it solidifies Assad’s hold on Syria which will in turn threaten the moderate rebel groups we’ve been arming and training in the south. It’s also very questionable that Iraq would follow our requirement for an inclusive government. Iran is not known for their tolerance for diversity and they’re most likely interested in crushing the sunni influence, not helping it. There’s a very long list of reasons I think this is a bad idea.

For clarity, no SOFA grants ‘immunity’ to US troops. It simply sets the terms under which jurisdiction for an accused soldier is distributed. If a soldier commits a crime, he will be held responsible by our military justice system, host-nation system, or shared between them by agreement. That sharing-out is a good bit of what is negotiated in the SOF agreement.

State Sponsors of Terrorism Overview

IRAN

Designated as a State Sponsor of Terrorism in 1984, Iran continued its terrorist-related activity, including support for Palestinian terrorist groups in Gaza, and for Hizballah. It has also increased its presence in Africa and attempted to smuggle arms to Houthi separatists in Yemen and Shia oppositionists in Bahrain. Iran used the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF) and its regional proxy groups to implement foreign policy goals, provide cover for intelligence operations, and create instability in the Middle East. The IRGC-QF is the regime’s primary mechanism for cultivating and supporting terrorists abroad.

Iran views Syria as a crucial causeway in its weapons supply route to Hizballah, its primary beneficiary. In 2013, Iran continued to provide arms, financing, training, and the facilitation of Iraqi Shia fighters to the Asad regime’s brutal crackdown, a crackdown that has resulted in the death of more than 100,000 civilians in Syria. Iran has publicly admitted sending members of the IRGC to Syria in an advisory role. There are reports indicating some of these troops are IRGC-QF members and that they have taken part in direct combat operations. In February, senior IRGC-QF commander Brigadier General Hassan Shateri was killed in or near Zabadani, Syria. This was the first publicly announced death of a senior Iranian military official in Syria. In November, IRGC-QF commander Mohammad Jamalizadeh Paghaleh was also killed in Aleppo, Syria. Subsequent Iranian media reports stated that Paghaleh was volunteering in Syria to defend the Sayyida Zainab mosque, which is located in Damascus. The location of Paghaleh’s death, over 200 miles away from the mosque he was reported to be protecting, demonstrated Iran’s intent to mask the operations of IRGC-QF forces in Syria.

Yup. It was not uncommon for the US to turn over soldiers to host-nation justice when we trust their system (Germany, Japan, Korea, Italy). If a case is a hot-button issue, like the USMC rapes in Okinawa, it becomes a struggle between recognizing their sovereignty and keeping our guys out of a lynch mentality. Such cases are essentially re-negotiated within the terms of SOFA.

Dana Perino on missing emails: 2007 vs. 2014

On Friday the IRS reported to the House Ways and Means Committee that some email from the account of Lois Lerner, director of the Exempt Organizations division, were missing due to a computer crash that occurred in 2011.

[…]

They [Fox “news] pounced on the missing email story with a barely disguised glee, despite the fact that they had little information to report. However, they did succeed at what they do best: spewing outrage over alleged improprieties by President Obama that they cavalierly dismissed during the Bush years.

[…]

Dana Perino, a co-host of the Fox “News” program The Five, was among those expressing outrage on Friday when the news of the missing IRS emails was released. She and her fellow co-hosts lit into the topic, bemoaning the administration’s “ignorance” and “incompetence.” And without any proof whatsoever, they implied that the administration was lying and covering up.

What makes this even worse is that Perino was Bush’s press secretary when it was revealed that two years of White House emails were lost. This, of course, cannot be waived off as an isolated problem that occurred at another agency. This was the White House itself that lost emails that were presently being requested by investigators. And it was Perino who came to the defense.

What the court said was that a member of the administration could not arbitrarily decide what was true or not in a political statement.

I love that your idea of ‘stalking’ is ‘People remember the incredibly wrong things I’ve said, the times I’ve been horribly mistaken, and remind me of them in the context of conversations involving those things.’

The gang that were wrong about the original Iraq war have a similar attitude: that they were completely and utterly wrong isn’t something they bother to address, they just move on, and anyone bringing it up is just being silly.

Not only this, but it is INCREDIBLY insulting to people whose lives are legitimately upended by being stalked. Worst case scenario for them? They and/or their family members are murdered. Worst case scenario for KT? He has to explain why he was so wrong on some topics. I’d call that a pretty major difference!

Whether the government should be the arbiter of what is ‘true’ or ‘false’ in political terms is a very problematic issue and deserves real consideration.

Remember “That was not intended to be a factual statement”?

The check on misleading political ads is simple. If you say some shit in your ad, and that shit is not true, you experience legal consequences. It being politics doesn’t change the fact that there are things that are true, and things that are not true. If you have to perform gymnastics to explain how something is maybe-sorta-tangentially true, it’s not true.

Iran says “no need” to talk with U.S. over Iraqi situation

Iran said it has no need for direct talks with the United States over the worsening security conditions in Iraq, official IRNA news agency quoted an Iranian foreign ministry official as saying on Monday.

Asked about possible Iran’s military assistance to Iraq to counter ISIL, Amir-Abdollahian said the Iraqi army is strong enough to defend the country against the militant group and they do not need Iran’s military assistance to thwart the “terrorist movement.”

The Iraqi government is fully prepared to counter terrorism, and is determined to put an end to terror acts in the country, he said.

IIRC, that was the reason why F&F was going nowhere in terms of prosecuting straw purchasers, as even if they could prove that the guns were knowingly bought for someone other than the guy laying down the money, both he and the intended recipient were legally allowed to own guns in the US and so there was no point in prosecuting the purchaser for lying on the paperwork.

Regardless of how the US got into Iraq, he knows better than most that Bush tried negotiating a SOFA with Iraq, but failed and that’s why troops aren’t in Iraq any longer. It was the failure to achieve a deal on SOFA that set the path towards leaving Iraq. Obama also tried to negotiate a SOFA with immunity for US troops, and he failed to get a deal done, so the US withdrew its troops rather than risk the Iraqis charging US troops rather than treating the US troops under the UCMJ.

If Maliki had gone with the US immunity provisions, he wouldn’t be in the mess he’s in, and things might have gone better for the Iraqi military.

But that supposes that Maliki wouldn’t have turned de-Ba’athification into a pro-Shi’ite cronyism system that undermined the military and faith in the government to handle security.

Of course then one could always argue, “Well, I bought the gun for myself, then a few days later realized I really needed the money, so I sold it off to an acquaintance. Prove I didn’t.”

That was the problem the ATF guys ran into in Fast and Furious. IIRC there was one guy they knew to be very poor, on state aid, buying something like 20 long arms at a time. The prosecutors said state law in AZ was so lenient that any assertion by the purchaser that the purchase was for personal use had to be honored, even if they changed their mind about keeping the gun once they were in the parking lot.

Yeah, Christie is gonna go into next year explaining to voters how he “proved” that conservative policies of tax cuts and budget cuts work, while in reality NJ is presently circling the drain as his years of creative accounting come back to haunt him.

Not just his years, but the past 20-25 years. No one wanted to raise the gas tax as the transportation trust fund light flashed empty (and helped spur a potentially illegal move to get the Port Authority to cover one of the biggest transit projects instead of using funds from the state - the Pulaski Skyway).

No one wanted to raise taxes to cover the pension obligations that the state eschewed during the boom years and which turned into even bigger shortfalls as the economy cratered. Christie actually pushed to get payments restored and cut deals with the state unions, but the budget shortfall is forcing him to reneg on that deal - showing just how screwed up the state’s revenue/budgeting system is because no one seems willing to address the revenue side of the equation.

Apparently it’s verbotten to consider raising taxes on millionaires, even though they could shoulder a greater burden and reduce the burden on everyone else.

Christie’s tax policies haven’t spurred economic growth matching even NY, which is the epitome of a high tax state, so he can’t claim to be an economic genius. His revenue forecasts have repeatedly come up short, meaning that the budget hole keeps growing, and it’s the same issue for the past three years.

Pentagon: U.S. could discuss Iraq with Iran, but won’t coordinate military action

“But there is absolutely no intention and no plan to coordinate military activity between the United States and Iran … there are no plans to have consultations with Iran about military activities in Iraq,” he told reporters.

John Kerry has a slightly different opinion
Kerry: U.S. willing to talk to Iran about Iraq security

On military co-operation, Kerry was cautious but not dismissive.

“At this moment, I think we need to go step-by-step and see what in fact might be a reality. But I would not rule out anything that would be constructive in providing real stability, a respect for the constitution, a respect for the election process and a respect for the ability of the Iraqi people to form a government that represents all the interests of Iraq,” he said. “We are open to any constructive process here that would minimize the violence.”

Apparently Mr. Abramski was under investigation for bank robbery and murder, at which time the Feds began looking into all aspects of his life, including the purchase of a Glock 19 he told the gun shop he was buying for personal usage when he’d already told his uncle he’d buy him a gun using the discount he got as a police officer. The gun was transferred by FFL, but the Feds still got him on knowingly lying on the paperwork, and he appealed saying that since his uncle could legally own firearms and the transfer went through an FFL, no laws were broken.

MSNBC is, among other things, marketed towards liberals. That doesn’t mean that’s the only thing it is. For example, Fox News is marketed towards conservatives, but it is also an ideological instrument. They don’t just report lies and bullshit to sell ads, they do so to actually sway public opinion.

This seems trivial to have to explain.

Man assaults woman, arrested, released 2 hours later (despite state law requiring 12 hour hold), assaults her again, arrested, and released. The person assaulted (Lauren Bull) used to be our front desk person here. She’s safe now, and may end up relocating. The accused is a big-deal developer here in Nashville.

Iranian state press: Tehran says no need for cooperation between Iran and U.S. over Iraq

“So far, we have had no negotiation with the U.S. about the recent events in Iraq and we feel no need for cooperation with America about this issue,” Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, told reporters on Monday.

He said Iran believes that the Iraqi armed forces can singlehandedly counter ISIL terrorists.

Asked about media reports that Iranian and U.S. diplomat may hold talks about Iraq on the sidelines of a meeting between Iran and the major powers on Tehran’s nuclear program in Vienna, Amir-Abdollahian said, “In the Vienna talks we only talk about nuclear issues.”

Critics of the Iraq War effort predicted the sectarian violence, the inability to unify the country due to long-standing divisions, and that dismantling the Iraqi Army would come back to haunt us. And on every one of those counts, they’ve been proven 100% correct.

So what does Fox do? It drags up a short clip from 2007 of Bush saying violence would return to Iraq in the US’ absence and declares he was “right about everything.” And bring in a Bush crony to back them up.

Work with Iran? Outrage! Oh wait…

January 20, 1981 - January 20, 1989 - Ronald Reagan’s presidency

January 19, 1984 - U.S. designates Iran a state sponsor of terrorism

Arms supplied to Iran by U.S. during the Iran-Contra affair:

August 20, 1985 - 96 TOW anti-tank missiles
September 14, 1985 - 408 more TOWs
November 24, 1985 - 18 Hawk anti-aircraft missiles
February 17, 1986 - 500 TOWs
February 27, 1986 - 500 TOWs
May 24, 1986 - 508 TOWs, 240 Hawk spare parts
August 4, 1986 - More Hawk spares
October 28, 1986 - 500 TOWs

en.wikipedia.org

Realpolitik! I was a young mother back in those days and not paying much attention to politics, but I don’t recall anyone doing hard prison time over any of that. With that history in mind, I wouldn’t be shocked if Republicans were inclined to work with Iran despite its status as a state sponsor of terrorism.

I wonder if the Iranians have receipts for anything else that politicians might prefer the general public not know about? Okay, let me stop before I slide into Alex Jones territory.

Yeah, but Jimmy Carter and some post at Daily Kos. That’s Reagan. Which is around the same time the White House had the CIA secretly deliver chemical weapons to our old buddy Saddam Hussein to use against Iran. Probably had a supplier insider in the White House because that’s how corrupt the Reagan administration was.

I noticed a few LGF members follow the former Formula 1 race driver Michael Schumacher’s ski accident and resultant brain injury story. There were reports on major news outlets this morning saying he is out of the induced coma and has been released from the hospital. For all of his fans it seemed like good news.

It might not be.

Here is a link to a Formula 1 doctor that worked with the F1 safety crews. He has been giving realistic assessments to the whole medical side of things to help keep speculation down as to where Michael stands in all of this recovery. He is not painting a good picture. Basically he is saying that being out of a coma only means a patients eyes are open and he could be in a persistent vegetative state.

The fact the family is being very quiet and not releasing much info kind of makes me feel he may be correct. Sigh.

Good news?
