President Glenn Beck to the World: “Screw With Us and We Will Pound You Into Glass”

He is very tough

Here’s an exceptional moment for raving freakazoid nut sandwich Glenn Beck from his radio show today, via Right Wing Watch.

Beck lapses into a hallucinatory fantasy in which he’s the President of the United States (kind of a daymare, really), and describes how he would deal with issues like the crisis in Iraq: he would station troops along all our borders and then warn the rest of the world, “If you screw with us, we will pound you into glass.”

Gaze upon the terrifying visage of Glenn Beck, Destroyer of Worlds.

President Beck would give the state of Israel the green light to do whatever it feels is necessary in order to protect itself, including the use of nuclear weapons, but the US would not be getting involved anywhere in the world because America needs to focus on getting back in line with God.

That doesn’t mean that America would be going into a shell, Beck proclaimed, warning the rest of the world that “if you screw with us, we will pound you into glass.”

We “will destroy you in a heartbeat,” Beck warned any nation that would even contemplate messing with America, pledging to utterly decimate entire cities if necessary and then just walk away while this nation focuses on getting right with God because America is God’s top priority.

Oh yes, this is Glenn at his finest, “…pledging to utterly decimate entire cities if necessary and then just walk away.”

Hey, wait … I think I’ve seen this movie before.

I thought we weren’t worthy of Glenn and that we were turning into Nazi Germany. Please Glenn’s team of psychiatrists, get this man help. He really needs it badly.

So we’ll slaughter millions if need be, if anyone “messes with us”, while we’re “getting right with God.”

Yeah, that makes sense to me. How about you?

he’s just manifesting the GOP’s (ergo his audience) feelings of impotency into a violence filled rhetoric designed to soothe the average redneck know-nothings into their traditional setting of outrage, you know, eleventy on a scale of one to ten. As much as I would like to see him and his ilk reined in, all that would happen is that the rest of the RWNJ media would simply make him a martyr to the cause and encourage them to scream louder.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard the Republican leadership denounce the incredibly vicious attacks that the various pundits unleashed against Sandra Fluke for simply daring to point out that a) women do take birth control for reasons other than (gasp) birth control and b) that putting restrictions on it makes it more difficult for women to access the drugs they need for medical purposes.

I think that GOP head cases can’t shut up about abortion etc. because it has become a core part of their identity that they are “good people” unlike those evil people who kill babies.

Among other things, this viewpoint neatly relieves them of any obligation to actually act good.

Seriously. It’s enraging and ignores the very real medical reasons why women take birth control pills that go far beyond just avoiding pregnancy.

What kills me is the so-called “pro-life” opposition to birth control. I get why the Vatican opposes birth control. They think it’s interference with God’s plan that sex = babies. But to say you oppose abortion and then also oppose things like comprehensive sex ed and easier access to birth control and Plan B makes you an asshole. If you don’t want abortions, then give people the tools they need to prevent an unwanted pregnancy before abortion ever has to become an option.

General Buck Turgidson: Mr. President, we are rapidly approaching a moment of truth, both for ourselves as human beings and for the life of our nation. Now, truth is not always a pleasant thing. But it is necessary now to make a choice, to choose between two admittedly regrettable, but nevertheless distinguishable, post-war environments: one where you got 20 million people killed, and the other where you got 150 million people killed!

President Merkin Muffley: You’re talking about mass murder, General, not war.

Turgidson: Mr. President, I’m not saying we wouldn’t get our hair mussed, but I do say no more than 10 to 20 million killed, tops! Uh, depending on the breaks.

Muffley: I will not go down in history as the greatest mass murderer since Adolf Hitler!

Turgidson: Perhaps it might be better, Mr. President, if you were more concerned with the American people, than with your image in the history books!

I have been on birth control for some of those medical issues since I was 12. There was a point where I had to stop taking it because of interaction with other medication. It sucked. Those issues hadn’t gone away.

They’re still present, but since I don’t intend to have children, I’m happy to just stay on birth control. My life is better for it. Immensely. I am also married, and we are not going to abstain in a committed relationship just so the wingnuts can be happy that my life is sucking 2-4 days a month. Fuck them.

I am taking every step I reasonably can to avoid having to make a decision I never want to face. Complete abstinance in a marriage? Not reasonable. Risking my physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing? Not reasonable. Risking my relationship with my husband? Not reasonable. Especially since it’s none of their damn business. I hope the States win this one, it would be so good to see them do well, maybe head into the round of 16. I’m tired of it always being the same teams - it is awesome to see teams develop and get better. I see the US and the aussie teams as heaps similar in that regard

Putin huylo! (Ukrainian: Путін хуйло, Russian: Путин хуйло, English meaning: Putin is a fucker or Putin is a dickhead[1]) is a Ukrainian song that became popular after the events of recent months in Ukraine. Being formerly known as a song of FC Metalist Kharkiv fans,[2] later the song became popular not only among the Ukrainian people, but also abroad, including Mexico,[3] Japan,[4] U.S.,[5] Canada, Western Europe and so on.
Among famous performers of the song are members of the Ukrainian parliament Oleh Lyashko[6] and the current Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Deshchytsia,[7][8][9] who sang it at the Russian Embassy in Kiev with the protesters.
The song caused widespread discontent among ordinary Russians, the diplomatic mission of Russia in Ukraine, and the Russian leadership. However, Geoffrey Pyatt, the US ambassador to Ukraine, wrote on Twitter that the minister had been “seeking to defuse a dangerous situation”, calling Deshchytsia “a skilled diplomat and credit to Ukraine.”[10]

I honestly think the States can beat Portugal too after watching the Portugese performance against Germany. Hopefully the americans will get Pepe so angry that he runs in from the outside, tries to stomp someone, one of his lousy mates step in, and a few red cards are given to Portugal. Maybe that pretty boy Ronaldo - his little display against the ref was way over the top and he knew it.

But seriously, a good strong opening by the americans could see Portugal fold, I really hope it happens. We’ll see what happens in this match first I guess

Well, one visible sphere at least. But the atmosphere in the stadium surely contains a small percentage of Helium, as all air does, and the movement of two electrons within the 1s orbital creates a sphere, itself which is being vigorously propelled (or moving, at least). So lots of spheres moving around. Here, there and everywhere

Cool. What did you think of Messi the other night ? I thought he played well, nice to see him doing his thing at the World Cup. I remember seeing him play australia at an under 20s championship, a while back - his skill was evident even then.

But I remember watching the match where Pepe stomped on his hand ! I’ve seen Pepe lose his shit so many times. Its beyond sad. To be honest, Sergio Ramos is pretty dirty as well. So in my mind as a Barca supporter (unless they’re playing Bayern or HSV in the Champions League) Real are just a dirty side.

Just watching Dempsey ! Blood coming from his nose, apparently it is broken. Nasty stuff!

Good even match so far - things can obviously change so quickly so I don’t wanna eat my words…but Ghana, in my mind, are often seen as a lower-tier team in the World Cup, but I think they’re better than most people seem to credit them. I think they’re absolutely world class.

They’re 38 in the world but no way that reflects their actual ability: I’ve always watched Ghana play where I can (I saw them play here in aus as a kid actually), and they nearly always do very well. They’ve got an entertaining style of play that puts some of the toughest teams to pasture.

In 2006 I really enjoyed the Ghana-US game: Ghana beat the Czechs 2-0 in that same tournament, beat the US 2-1, but the US are playing far better in this game than in 2006. So it is great to see a team improve by leaps and bounds like that.

But remember in 2010 ? They made it through to the the Ro16 and played the US again, and again it was 2-1 (i think).

So Ghana and the US have a great rivalry but the US are outclassing them so far. Hopefully it keeps on into the 2nd half

Statement by the Press Secretary on the War Powers Resolution Report for Iraq

Today, consistent with the War Powers Resolution, the President transmitted a report notifying the Congress that up to approximately 275 U.S. military personnel are deploying to Iraq to provide support and security for U.S. personnel and the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. The personnel will provide assistance to the Department of State in connection with the temporary relocation of some staff from the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad to the U.S. Consulates General in Basra and Erbil and to the Iraq Support Unit in Amman. These U.S. military personnel are entering Iraq with the consent of the Government of Iraq. The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad remains open, and a substantial majority of the U.S. Embassy presence in Iraq will remain in place and the embassy will be fully equipped to carry out its national security mission.

Text of a Letter from the President to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President Pro Tempore of the Senate

June 16, 2014

Dear Mr. Speaker: (Dear Mr. President:)

This force is deploying for the purpose of protecting U.S. citizens and property, if necessary, and is equipped for combat. This force will remain in Iraq until the security situation becomes such that it is no longer needed.

This action has been directed consistent with my responsibility to protect U.S. citizens both at home and abroad, and in furtherance of U.S. national security and foreign policy interests, pursuant to my constitutional authority to conduct U.S. foreign relations and as Commander in Chief and Chief Executive.

I am providing this report as part of my efforts to keep the Congress fully informed, consistent with the War Powers Resolution (Public Law 93-148). I appreciate the support of the Congress in these actions.

Sincerely,

Free Republic showing they’re a bunch of sports savants:

Feels like this soccer crap is being forced on us on ESPN, etc. Yes, just change the channel but why is there this effort to make believe that Americans love soccer and love the WNBA? They are two artificially created.

The WNBA is about flopping and acting too?

The WNBA is financed by the NBA and would not be able to support itself on it’s own.

I think you may then be at least partially gay, seeing Soccer players as scantily clad women.

Perhaps you should seek therapy or a priest or something.

All sports are artificially created. I don’t think anybody is trying to pretend the WNBA is popular. The World Cup on the other hand consistently got better ratings that the US Open over the weekend, so it’s at least a little popular.

I care less about soccer then I do about worms on a fish hook. More globalist BS if you ask me.

All the participation Trophy kids love it. They grew up on it like we did football/baseball/hockey. Brings back memories of free no-score pizza parties and group hugging.

When the United States wins the world cup it will officially be a third world toilet. A country that is good at soccer is horrible at everything else.

But wait! A Freeper tries to play the snark card and points out people actually watch the World Cup:

LOL. Soccer is the world’s game and it is not being forced on us.
The England-Italy game that was played on Saturday averaged a 2.6 rating for ESPN with 4.615M viewers. That makes it ESPN/ESPN2’s most-watched non-U.S. Group Stage World Cup game ever. The network says that only three U.S. men’s Group Stage matches have delivered a larger audience (the side has yet to take the field this year). In terms of household ratings, England’s defeat at the hands of the Azzurri is the 2nd highest-rated non-U.S. Group Stage World Cup game, falling behind Thursday’s Brazil-Croatia opener which scored a record overnight average of 3.2 in the metered markets. Univision, meanwhile, reports that its World Cup audience is 25% larger among total viewers than in 2010 through eight matches.

I bet tonight’s US-Ghana game will draw more viewers (combined Univision and ESPN) than last night’s NBA fifth and final game.

The FIFA World Cup is the quadrennial soccer championship held every four years since 1930 (with two exceptions as a result of that whole WWII thing). The Cup’s final game is the single most viewed sporting event on earth. The 2010 match between Spain and The Netherlands was watched by an estimated 700 million people. That’s a decent chunk of the world’s entire population.

I’m sure other Freepers will stand up and agree with him, right? Let’s see:

Very unfair comparison.

Players in the WNBA aren’t PMS-ing nearly as much as those in international soccer.

I am 67 years old, and I still remember the great time I had playing tackle football with my buddies, and viewing the introduction of soccer as a sport for those who were too pussified to play real football.

Went out to eat with the family Saturday night. Restaurant had a dozen or so TVs going. Half with golf, half with soccer.

Golf seemed like a rollicking, riotous, outrageous good time compared to the soccer snoozefest.

Globalists love to make Americans think we like soccer. Then, the USA will blend in the rest of the world and cease being so darn exceptional.

Not yet.

I don’t watch soccer because it reminds me too much of my love life during high school; a lot of chasing, elevated heart rate, lots of sweating…very little scoring.

A friend of mine describes soccer as, “A sport for all the homosexuals that don’t have the hand-eye coordination to play badminton.”

I remember back in the 70’s when they were trying to jam this down our throats, along with the metric system..

A few folks seem to follow the game, and others don’t care because free markets mean ESPN is listening to their customers, but the anti-soccer idiots are funny.

Yes. There was an extreme militaristic theme to the camp, and kids were put in camo and face paint. The camp leader said Christians were at war with other religions and there would only be one victor, so they needed to train ‘em young.

Ye Soldiers of the Cross

Stand up, stand up for Jesus! ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss:
From vict’ry unto vict’ry, His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus! The trumpet call obey:
Forth to the mighty conflict, in this His glorious day;
Ye that are men now serve Him against unnumbered foes;
Let courage rise with danger, and strength to strength oppose.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus! Stand in His strength alone,
The arm of flesh will fail you, ye dare not trust your own;
Put on the gospel armor, and watching unto prayer,
Where calls the voice of duty, be never wanting there.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus! the strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle, the next the victor’s song;
To him that overcometh a crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory shall reign eternally.

Its funny, here in australia, because of the large number of football codes that have popularity here (rugby league, rugby union and australian rules), soccer has always taken second-tier in popularity as a winter sport. In summer, the game is mainly cricket (which I guess would be as popular as baseball in the States). But recently (since 2006) Soccer has been experiencing a resurgence here: we’ve got a new televised league competition, there’s some friendly rivalries with US teams (Sydney FC vs Los angeles Galaxy for example), but there are a number of people who say, “give it up! We can’t be good at all sports - we’ll always be second tier in soccer, focus on rugby and aussie rules (afl) and league.”

So I think it is quite similar to the situation in the US. I really see a lot of similarities between the Socceroos and the US team.

I think there’s also an ‘acceptance’ thing in terms of the world class teams having trouble seeeing australia as anything except losers - witness the treatment of the refs, the federation, and other players, who often denigrate the Soccerroos (or maybe I just have a chip on my shoulder).

Thankfully the US has hosted the World Cup once, and I hope it will again - but yeah I think anything that is good for US soccer, is good for aussie soccer. The more widespread this game goes, the more I’ll get to watch great players from the US, from australia, from Iraq, from Japan, from Malaysia, Thailand, China, and other asian federation cup teams, in fact, other ‘second-tier’ teams whose game is really improving.

In ten years I think the US will be in the top 15 and I hope australia is too, though it might take a bit longer here.

Great result for the US though !

I like indoor soccer too :) There’s a variant called ‘Futsal’, that a high school friend of mine used to play. He and another guy from the small town I come from, went to Paraguay a while ago to play in the Futsal youth world cup or its equivalent.

I watched a few of his games, he was very good and it was great fun to watch. He was a pretty good soccer player too. But you’re right with the Foozball comparison ! Thats exactly how it looked sometimes.

Haha ! Classic ! That is a great story - do you remember the names of any of the teams you bet on ?

To be honest, aussie rules is most popular in Victoria (southern part of aus). Here in NSW it is not too popular, though it has a consistent following.

The reason ? Nobody here can be bothered figuring out the rules ! Myself included. It just looks so scrappy and disorganised (no disrespect to aussie rules fans intended).

Have you ever played the game “hot potato”? Basically you get 30, 40 people on an oval, throw a ball in the air, then whoever gets it has to run around and avoid being tackled by the others. If you tackle the guy with the ball, you get the potato, and you have to keep it for as long as possible, and so on it goes.

I don’t think there’s any scoring involved. But aussie rules games always reminded me of hot potato. To be honest, you probably know more than me about it, since you watched those games in Texas in the day. I have never watched a full game. The only things I know are: you have to bounce the ball while you run, when you catch the ball on the full you get a ‘mark’ (you get to take a kick from the spot where you caught the ball)…you score by kicking into the main two goalposts, or the broader, smaller posts, the latter giving less points. Thats it, that is all I know.

Fair play to you and your mates though, that is great to hear that there are some aussie rules fans over in Texas. I bet nobody in australia would ever have thought that !

Yep, I hear that. There’s a bit of controversy as to the origin of the game actually - some people say it was borrowed from a very similar game played by indigenous folks here. Others say it was all concocted separately, with no indigenous influence. I reckon they should call it “scrambles”. Or “kickball”, if the latter isn’t taken, with “scrambles” as the nickname.

I spend a little too much time watching tornado videos and reading about things and whatnot, but my main takeaway from that video is that to be seeing the houses flying around so intact, we are looking at some lousy construction practices.

Which is not terribly uncommon, but still very sad because that can make a difference as far as casualties in a weaker tornado.

Iran Offers Iraq ‘Everything it Needs’ to Fight ISIS

As ISIS marches closer to Baghdad, the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism, Iran, is offering the Iraqi government the use of its army and spies.

As President Obama weighs whether to re-enter the Iraq war, the country’s neighbor, Iran, is looking to step into the void.

“The offer to help us with everything we need has been made from the highest levels of the Iranian government,” a senior Iraqi official told The Daily Beast. This official stressed that Iran’s offer to assist Iraq’s fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham (ISIS) was not conditional on Maliki making any immediate reforms or changes to his government.

Supporters of the latter have a bad name for that sort of stuff here. Lots of NRL players have fallen by the wayside or been punished by the NRL officials, for lewd conduct while drunk. It has been a long running scandal here.

Just about every week there’s a new story on it. It’s like, “In case you missed it: rugby league players need to tone it down a little,” It is wearing thinner than my socks - they need to tone it down big time.

In fact there was an incident involving socks, funnily enough - these rugby players, I can’t remember the precise details, but they found one of the big club players locked out of his room, near where he’d defecated (in the hallway), and supposedly he was wearing only one sock - just not on his feet. Supposedly he had been stalking a young woman, trying to get into her pants, but had lucked out. Plenty of other scandals involved players stalking either young women, or even each other ! It is a very weird (alcohol fuelled) mentality. I think they’re cleaning it up now, and lots of the stalking and sexual harassment has been toned down. Or just swept under the rug.

There’s an expression down here, “pull your socks up”, which people often say during these scandals. But I think that saying well and truly went out the window, for a while, around that time.

So yep, not a good look for rugby league: one sock too many, two too few. I think they changed the expression to, “pull your head in”. In case they missed it, as I said, the media hammered these scandals into the non-League followers heads.

For example, you made the prediction that Iraq’s government was stable and in no danger of being overthrown, and wished that we left Afghanistan in the same condition as Iraq. You said that ethnic/religious tensions weren’t very serious in Iraq.

You haven’t learned any lesson from making such an astoundingly bad read, to displaying your ignorance on such an obvious level. You continue to make pronouncements and indulge in your tepid form of punditry even though you absolutely couldn’t have been more wrong.

Dunno. Not even sure there is a ‘void’ if all that disappears is a fond dream of a centralized government. Has there been any disruption of the Spice?

The “spice” oil is elsewhere and a disintegrating Afghanistan will easily be ignored by the press since it won’t spill over into countries anybody cares about. Like the Nigerian schoolgirls, it’ll get a little press and then we’ll never hear about it again. Like it never happened.

re: #354 goddamnedfrank

What mistake would that be, setting a firm timetable to leave after what will have been a decade and a half of propping up a massively corrupt kleptocracy?

Staying after we had accomplished our purpose—jacking up the Taliban for not handing Bin Laden over.

This is the kind of ridiculous and fatuous prediction that is just baffling. Why on earth would you be comfortable predicting that violence and upheaval in AFghanistan won’t spill over to other countries? It is already spilling over into Pakistan.

The Spice is poppies, and I’m not sure the growers are even aware we were there.

Those who were aware mostly had no clue why we were there.

Staying would have been ok if we had a better plan to leave the country with a stable government.Whatever we tried didn’t work. We should have been in and out.

Ah, ok.

” Opium production in Afghanistan has been on the rise since U.S. occupation started in 2001. Based on UNODC data, there has been more opium poppy cultivation in each of the past four growing seasons (2004-2007) than in any one year during Taliban rule.”

That is the difference between political hacks like talk-show pundits on the one hand, and genuinely principled people (like you) on the other. Of the multitude of reasons I enjoy LGF, as I’ve expounded on a few times, one of the most important is the way Charles has never pretended to be something he’s not. He’s never concealed his past, lied about it, used manipulative trickery to try to claim he was against the war all along, etc - like so many others do.

LGF is great because it is a bastion of reasoned people, reasonable people, friendly people. It is an antidote to the lies and falsehoods that other media outlets use consistently.

But what is more, Charles’ own changes are a big part of the evolution of the site, as I understand it. This blog is a media outlet in and of itself, but it is one where the owner and administrator has tied his fortunes to honesty and integrity, rather than money, fame, or political expediency. Of course Charles is pretty well known in the blogosphere and even in the political sphere, in large part due to his break with the right.

But that very break earned him the respect of his readers, and many, I’m sure, are conservative on some issues. I consider myself reasonably conservative on foreign policy, particularly Israel. But I like that Charles never covered his past. Never tried to delete his old views, whether on climate change or on Obama. Heck, he did the opposite ! He wrote pieces on them ! He wrote about WHY he changed his mind. He explained his thought processes. He didn’t just pull a switcheroo, then remove all the conservative postings. They’re right there, right now, for all to see.

That, to me, is honesty. That, to me, is integrity.

There’s a quote from, I think Edmund Burke on this, and while I paraphrase, I hope I don’t deviate too much from the sentiment: “When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?”

Charles is a guy who investigated the global warming fakery claims made by certain segments of the right. He had the self-analysis, self-reflection, to do that, which speaks volumes. It is rare to challenge ones own opinions these days. More comfortable to seek reinforcement from those who already agreee. Charles didn’t do that. He read about the claims himself - and he changed his mind. He had the facts and he changed his mind, and he has not tried to hide that.

I don’t mean to bang on about it, but it is rare, it is refreshing, and it makes this site something special. I truly believe that!

(Now, back to more light-hearted discussions - I don’t want to come off as too staid and serious all the time)

Wouldn’t that have created even more instability, allowing the Taliban to return even sooner, and isn’t their return and the lack of stability the very thing you’ve been lamenting?

Basically you’re saying we should have just fucked shit up and bailed, with no real plan outside of pure wrath. Why go in at all then?

To get Bin Laden, or make them wish we had. That was the alpha and omega of it. We hardly pretended otherwise.

re: #345 Lidane

Heh. I couldn’t even begin to tell you which teams we bet on. I had to go look at a list of teams and the only ones that come to mind are the Roos from Melbourne because the guys in the bar would start doing drunk cheers of “ROOOOOOS!” every time they scored.

After a while I became convinced that Quidditch is a more coherent sport than Aussie rules football. I never caught on to the rules, but it was fun to hang out with my friends and drink and watch the games. None of it made a damned bit of sense, but I don’t think the games were ever the point.

Heh, probably not. The one thing that’s stuck with me is hearing the accents. I’ve saved a few folks from embarrassing themselves before they ask an Aussie or Kiwi what part of England they’re from. Hahaha.

Nice :) While it has never happened to me, I know a few aussies whose accents have been interpreted as British. I lived on campus for a few years here, a while ago, and there were lots of americans, so I got to know them pretty well. Very good people, whose company I enjoyed immensely. Many were from Texas, actually. I remember a few times, we’d practice doing each others accents. I thought my Texan accent was passable, but they laughed - they thought it sounded Jamaican.

Their aussie accents weren’t too bad actually ! I wonder if those “Shrimp on the Barbie” ads were responsible.

BTW the Roos, yep, that would be North Melbourne Football Club - their nickname is the Roos. The Magpies might ring a bell, too ? They are Collingwood’s club. The other ones that have been big for a while are Essendon (the Bombers), Sydney (the Swans), and Geelong (the Cats). I dunno many of the other teams actually.

Except we got easily side tracked, and then we absolutely pretended otherwise. Gary Berntsen details it all in Jawbreaker, how the assets he repeatedly requested to seal off the border with Pakistan were denied because the Bush Administration was staging assets for the pre-planned invasion of Iraq. Not too long after that Bush started actively downplaying the importance of getting Bin Laden.

BTW, if you want to see a sport that doesn’t make a damned bit of sense, watch Gaelic football sometime. I had co-workers from Dublin that played it and would brag over Skype about their injuries. Crazy stuff.

Yep, not wrong there, I’ve watched parts of a couple of games - crazy stuff. In fact they have aussie vs ireland games, where they sort of mix up the rules of aussie rules, and gaelic football. They come up with a new hybrid game called ‘International Rules’.

The matches (at least, between australia and Ireland) are always marked by the fights. They’re almost literally just half fighting and half running about with the ball, waiting to start a fight. The fighting sometimes seems more important than the game ! It is crazy stuff:

re: #365 Stanley Sea

Oh, for sure houses got removed, and I feel horrible for the folks suffering as a result.

There is sadly a very big difference in the wind required to remove a poorly built house and a well-built house, and if you read through some of the damage surveys they talk a lot about how few houses fall into the latter category, which makes residential houses hard to use for determining rating in a lot of cases. It will be interesting to see what rating is announced (probably in the next few days), but to have a whole home flying around in the air (from the video) suggests that things weren’t bolted down well in at least one case.

And I know, dead thread. Upstairs with me…
