VIDEO: Heritage Foundation’s Benghazi Panelists Mock Muslim Student

Speakers at a Heritage Foundation panel mocked a Muslim student who pointed out that Muslim Americans were not represented at the forum and stated that conservative rhetoric on Islam is often starkly negative.

Anti-Muslim Conpiracy Theorist, Brigitte Gabriel on Fox News

Update: Brigitte Gabriel - Conspiracy Theorist

[…]

“America has been infiltrated on all levels by radicals who wish to harm America,” she said. “They have infiltrated us at the C.I.A., at the F.B.I., at the Pentagon, at the State Department. They are being radicalized in radical mosques in our cities and communities within the United States.”

[…]

Ms. Gabriel is only one voice in a growing circuit that includes counter-Islam speakers like Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer and Walid Shoebat. What distinguishes Ms. Gabriel from her counterparts is that she has built a national grass-roots organization in the last three years that has already engaged in dozens of battles over the place of Islam in the United States. ACT! for America claims 155,000 members in 500 chapters across the country. To build her organization, Ms. Gabriel has enlisted Mr. Rodgers, who had worked behind the scenes for the Christian Coalition’s leaders, Ralph Reed and the television evangelist Pat Robertson. (Ms. Gabriel herself was once an anchor for Mr. Robertson’s Christian television network in the Middle East).

Can’t be a right wing event without some good old Islamaphobia but I know wingnuts, libtards are the real bigots and the Muslims deserve your bigotry.

You know, I used to think the Heritage Foundation was a pretty awful organization but since DeMint taken over, they’ve proven that you can go even lower. I guess that’s the story of the past six years. Just when you think right wing bigots can’t show themselves to be any more lower, they do it again.

Frank Gaffney:

Another question yet to be resolved is whether Mr. Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States, a prerequisite pursuant to the U.S. Constitution. There is evidence Mr. Obama was born in Kenya rather than, as he claims, Hawaii. There is also a registration document for a school in Indonesia where the would-be president studied for four years, on which he was identified not only as a Muslim but as an Indonesian. If correct, the latter could give rise to another potential problem with respect to his eligibility to be president.

Mohammed Idris was assassinated on June 10 for speaking against Al Shebab.

There’s been dozens, if not hundreds, of individual Muslims assassinated for criticism of terrorist groups—not killed in bombing or stochastic violence, but explicitly targeted to silence them. They just haven’t ever gotten much press outside their own nations.

Heritage’s gaggle of Islamophobes and their fellow travelers aren’t really interested, though. They’re intent on the image of an undifferentiated mob of religious fanatics. They don’t care that Islamist terror primarily falls upon more liberal Muslims, they don’t care that Muslims can and still do protest Islamist violence, Islamist politics, and Islamist theology. I’m repeating myself, but there is no good faith to found amongst these “thinkers”—they’re intent upon a “clash of civilization” and other such nonsense.

Well these are the rants of people who totally make sense. Yeah Frank and Brigit, Islamists have totally infilitrated our security services under Obama. That’s why Bin Laden and others are dead. Really, these fools can’t bring themselves to admit that Obama not only isn’t the secret Islamist they claim he is but he’s damn more effective than they would be on dealing with terrorism. They just can’t help themselves to push Obama the appeaser meme.

Dana Milbank, WaPo:

Heritage hosted Monday’s gathering in conjunction with the Benghazi Accountability Coalition, a federation coordinated by Andrew McCarthy (prosecutor of the Blind Sheik, Omar Abdel Rahman) and including 15 groups such as Heritage, Judicial Watch and the Traditional Values Coalition. McCarthy’s talk to the gathering was titled “Just the Facts” — but the facts never had a chance against all the groups’ self-promotion (“Go to benghazicoalition.org” and “You need to be on our mailing list”) and anti-Islamist rhetoric that too often sounded just anti-Islam.

BENGHAZI ACCOUNTABILITY COALITION
As of JUNE 11, 2014
Chairman:
Andrew C. McCarthy

Andrew C. McCarthy

He has defended the practice of waterboarding as not necessarily being torture, and as necessary in some situations to prosecute the War on Terror[3][4] whilst admitting that “waterboarding is close enough to torture that reasonable minds can differ on whether it is torture”.[5]

During the 2008 presidential election campaign, Andrew McCarthy wrote a number of posts on the National Review’s Corner blog stating that he thought that Democratic Presidential candidate, Barack Obama, was not serious about protecting US national security against threats from radical Islam and elsewhere, and that Obama had a number of troubling ties and associations with leftist radicals.

In an opinion posted on the blog ‘the Corner’ on 10/22/08,[6] Mr. McCarthy wrote “I believe that the issue of Obama’s personal radicalism, including his collaboration with radical, America-hating Leftists, should have been disqualifying.”

In May 2009, Mr. McCarthy provided details of a letter declining an invitation from Attorney General Eric Holder for a round-table meeting with President Barack Obama concerning the status of people detained in the War on Terror. Mr. McCarthy noted his dissension with the administration in their policies regarding the detainees.[7] On December 5, 2009 he came out publicly against prosecuting Islamic terrorists in civil courts rather than military tribunals, saying “A war is a war. A war is not a crime, and you don’t bring your enemies to a courthouse.”[8]

McCarthy has recently spoken out against the War in Afghanistan, saying that the War benefits the Afghans while hurting American interests, and that the United States should be concerned solely with its interests.

Coupled with his national security conservatism, McCarthy also espouses strong fiscal conservative views on entitlement spending, and favors the abolition of Medicare, which he calls a fraud and a Ponzi scheme greater than that perpetrated by Bernie Madoff. He says that the goals of the original proponents of Medicare was to get a foot in the door for full out socialized medicine, under a single payer system.

I don’t know how many of you saw when I posted YouTube video about Boko Haram from the Naval War College in a semi-snarky comment to KT yesterday or the day before, but I sat down and watched the entire thing last night and was particularly struck by his mention of American Muslims being able to make a difference.

In one instance he talked about how a group of American imams traveled to Nigeria and talked to Nigerian imams and got some of the to change their minds on some radical ideas. The other thing was American Muslims getting together and creating a photo gallery of mosques in the U.S. He said the Nigerians were like, “Oh, well they just haven’t burned them down yet…” They were truly shocked to learn that (bumps in the road & the professional Islamophobes notwithstanding) we’re free to practice Islam in peace & safety here.

If these assholes would HELP us reach out instead of fear mongering and trying to marginalize & demonize us, we might be able to make a real difference where radicalism is concerned, both here and overseas.

But I guess they’re making too much money with their hate to care. *SIGH*

BTW, if anyone’s interested in learning more about Boko Haram that’s a really good lecture. The speaker is John Campbell, who was the ambassador to Nigeria under G.W. Bush and is currently the State Department’s acting director of the Office of the Historian.

It starts off kinda slow (first 10 minutes or so), but then it gets really interesting. Gives you lots of insight and reminds you that not everyone sees the world the way we do, and the sooner we obtain a higher degree of religious literacy WRT Islam, the better off we’ll be (because the whole cowboy, bomb ‘em back to the Stone Age just isn’t gonna work).

Actually, I think Brigitte Gabriel is the enhanced version of Pam Geller. There are still a good number Lebanese Christians (both outside of and within Lebanon) who hate Muslims with an intensity that leaves the Shrieking Harpy in the shade. And on some occasions during Lebanon’s civil war, that hate flared to dreadful heights that even Frank Gaffney would not likely go.

While we’re on the subject, some of you may be interested in this as it gives you a peek into the competing narratives:

Kenya president blames locals for deadly attacks

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — The killers in the Kenyan village singled out non-Muslims, shooting them point-blank or slitting their throats, just like the previous night in an adjacent hamlet. A Somali extremist group claimed responsibility but Kenya’s president on Tuesday blamed local political networks for the 60 deaths.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, in a national address, said evidence indicates that the motive for the killing spree was to evict a community of people in order to grab the land along the coast near the Somali border. He said al-Shabab, a Somali group linked to al-Qaida, was not behind it.

But analysts expressed doubt. Matt Bryden, the former head of the U.N. Monitoring Group on Somalia, said al-Shabab has never claimed credit for an attack it didn’t carry out.

“It has all the hallmarks of an al-Shabab attack, said Bryden, now the head of Sahan Research. “Secondly, there’s been no sign of a Kenyan group carrying out an attack on this scale or with these tactics.” […]

Bearded Muslim leaders conferring inside Nairobi’s largest mosque, a grand white facade nestled among the capital’s high rises, condemned what they called savage acts and ghastly killings and said there was no justification for them.

They warned of a potential sectarian rift.

“The continued violence risks tearing the country apart,” they said, continuing later: “We need to be cognizant of the fact that some of these attacks are aimed at planning seeds of discord and animosity among Kenyans and divide the country along ethnic and religious lines.” […]

re: #67 makeitstop

Well, this is a bummer.

Jim Wright of Stonekettle Station posted on his Facebook page that both Mike Molloy and Stephanie Miller used stuff on their shows without getting any type of permission to do so - and when he called them on it, he got some variation of ‘You should be flattered that we’re reading your stuff.’

He’s pissed. So pissed, in fact, that he’s seriously thinking about shutting everything down.

This sucks. Both Molloy and Miller should apologize, loudly and publicly, and promise never to use his stuff without authorization from now on.

It would really be a shame to lose Wright’s perspective.

Did they at least credit him by name?

Awww, I missed the creationist…
[Embedded image]

It was the first time I’ve personally had to deal with a creationist in a LGF comments section. I truly thought the heathen Lizard Army scared all of them away.

I asked dude over and over “So if you’re not a creationist but you don’t believe that evolution and natural selection are valid explanations for biology, then what do you believe?”

Dude never answered any of our questions. Charles summed it up nicely.

re: #251 Charles Johnson

It always amazes me that creationists feel a compulsion to lie about being creationists. Almost as if they realize on some level how irrational their beliefs are.

re: #72 teleskiguy

I’m going with his ignorance confusing evolution with abiogenesis. It’s the only way I can comprehend how someone is not a creationist yet doesn’t accept evolution — he means he doesn’t accept abiogenesis.

Perhaps he will deign to offer a clarification, though I rather doubt it.

74 wheat-dogghazi  Jun 17, 2014 11:19:19pm

It’s impossible to debate someone usefully when they don’t even understand the subject being debated, or take the time to understand even basic terminology.

And it’s frustrating when they duck direct questions, drop a bombshell, and say “Bye-bye, gotta go!”

On that note, I gotta go teach some students some stuff. See y’all later.

I’m sorry late-nite US Lizards out there for my Twitter nonsense. I just find it incredibly bizarre that I can’t start one of my tweets with the 7 characters “d. boon” in any of my tweets. I am forbidden to have the first seven characters in a tweet start out thusly: “d. boon”

102 Lidane  Jun 18, 2014 12:52:09am

That doesn’t work for me either.

My guess is that it is somehow related to the direct messaging function. Since you would normally type “d [username] [message]” to send a DM to someone mabye there’s something in Twitter’s code that automatically flags the “d.[text]” string at the start of a Tweet as a direct messaging error.

Mine have been surprisingly quiet so far. When all the stuff with ISIS started heating up a few of them were bleating about ZOMG OBUMMER LOST IRAQ but that lasted about a day.

These days, the so-called “libertarian” (i.e., the socon wingnut who won’t admit he’s a wingnut) is busy pimping some incoherent garbage about Satan being a librul. Another one is reduced to talking about music, and dogs and sharing the occasional Ayn Rand meme. A third one is spending more time talking about his family’s upcoming summer vacation, sending FB game requests and posting 80’s music videos. And the history buff and gun nut is babbling about some blog post speculating that space colonies might just be illegal.

126 Justanotherhuman  Jun 18, 2014 4:19:49am

What do just 1,000 people know? How many follow current events with any intelligence and in depth? I hate to think this way because I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt, but most people only pay attention to the evening news (if that) and many don’t even care about politics (until they’re called in a poll). Which is why I think polls like this are just pure bullshit to make headlines.

NBC/WSJ Poll: Obama’s Foreign Policy Rating Plummets, Even Without Iraq

nbcnews.com

“The NBC/WSJ poll was conducted June 11-15 of 1,000 adults (including 337 reached by cell phone), and it has an overall margin of error of plus-minus 3.1 percentage points.”

(Note: I got a poll call the other day which first asked me if I was registered as a Dem, Republican or other, and when I answered “Democratic”, they thanked me for answering but that was it. Officially, I’m registered as “Unaffiliated”.)

Yes, but look at this way; a lot of Muslims are what could be defined as more-or-less socially conservative, for the reasons she cited (I don’t count myself among that number) and for quite some time, they were a reliable GOP voting bloc.

Now the wingnuts have alienated American Muslims with their fanatical bigotry, and a good many have drifted to the Democratic Party as a result.

I can see what she’s trying to do, but my take on it is that the GOP is increasingly becoming a hardline Protestant white nationalist party - especially if the wingnut base gets its way. The GOP leadership itself faces a Catch-22: Either condemn this direction the party is taking and make an effort to get those folks out of the party - and in doing so, consign themselves to electoral oblivion until a new base can be built-up - or tolerate this nonsense, which will serve them for the foreseeable future until the wingnut base dies off (and let’s face it, most of the wingnut base is getting on in years) and then build a new, more inclusive base.

The danger for the GOP’s leadership is if the wingnut base completely take over the party and turn it into the aforementioned hardline Protestant white nationalist party in the immediate future, and by that, I mean over the next two presidential election cycles. Ironically enough, in that scenario the problem will resolve itself as the GOP will no longer be competitive on a national level, and they kiss the White House goodbye for quite some time.

I simply don’t see the wingnut base of the GOP accepting Muslims anytime soon.

And with that, I’ll be back in a bit.

And in the end that will be their downfall. Politics is about engaging people in dialogue and winning them over to your side, not branding a anyone who disagrees with you as a terrorist/moocher/loser/traitor/fascist/baby-killer, etc. while constantly narrowing the window of “acceptable” viewpoints

Yeah, but the current TPGOP platform seems to be: (1) deport all the people we don’t like (2) if that doesn’t work, marginalize them (3) if that doesn’t work, make sure they can’t vote (4) meanwhile, ship middle class jobs overseas while taxing the middle class more (5) creating more lower class people with less political power (7) GOTO (1)

IMF to the U.S.: Raise your minimum wage: On Monday, the IMF issued its annual review of the American economy, downgrading the U.S. GDP growth forecast to 2% this year (it’s usually over 3%). The IMF also included a long list of recommendations to boost the economy — and for the first time, the list included raising the minimum wage. “[G]iven its current low level (compared both to U.S. history and international standards), the minimum wage should be increased,” the IMF wrote. “This would help raise incomes for millions of working poor and … ensure a meaningful increase in after-tax earnings for the nation’s poorest households.”

How do you change any culture that tells women they must have a man, be dependent on him, keep pumping out babies, subject themselves to him, and not have the means to make their own way in life?

Women have always had to do it ourselves. You have to keep the whip hand yourself, be in control of your own destiny even if it means going against the grain.

*SIGH*

Well, they’re not just getting rich. They’re getting high. Essentially they’re low level dealers in the drugs fear, anger and hate.

I checked into the problem with the feed links in Charles’ linking on the sidebar, and I don’t think the problem is on my end.

I use an atom feed for rss, lawhawk.blogspot.com, which then gets translated to feeds.feedburner.com. That process provides working links as you can see.

So, unless there’s something else I’m missing on my end (which is quite possible), I think this is something that Charles would have to look into.

They did their standard race around the apartment last night after lights out and then settled down. The one pictured above is pretty laid back in the morning. He’ll snooze on the office chair or come onto the bed and lie next to me until I decide to get up. The other one, OTOH, wants me up at the crack of dawn. re: #160 Pie-onist Overlord

Ohhh… that’s ripe for a fisking.

I’ll work from the bottom up:

You don’t demonize men and blame them for your problems. I guess she doesn’t have a problem with fact that women make a fraction of what men make for the same job. Wage equality eliminating gender bias is something foreign to her, even though that affects her (and every other woman) directly and reduces her net worth by tens of thousands (or more) of dollars over her life.

You’re not a target of violence…. until you are. And when you are, it can be sexual assaults, precisely because you’re a woman.

The war against women is one that is reducing their rights to control what they can do with their body - whether it’s getting access to abortions or access to birth control as part of health insurance policies. Limiting access to abortions and birth control puts women at a disadvantage that applies in particular to women with limited economic means, and traps them with few options.

You don’t need someone else to empower you…except that your right to vote was done because some other group of women sought your empowerment. This woman’s views of empowerment and feminism are so narrow, that she ignores that women are in the position they’re in because other women fought for those rights and positions - and the fight will continue until there’s parity on socio-economic and political issues.

The “taking responsibility for your own actions” is just fine, until you look at the fine print (all of the above).

Frankly that meme gets at what many of us have agreed to be what defines conservatism. A bunch of people who want to live in modern society without having to pay for it and deal with it. It’s so easy to hate on feminists I guess if you take for granted the fact that suffrage for women isn’t even a century old, that spousal rape only became a crime in many states a generation ago, etc. Being a right winger is all about glorifying a mystical past that never was.

ICYMI, this morning from the NYT

The president of the board of supervisors, Lee Caldwell, a fellow Republican, can riff extensively on the local infrastructure projects that Mr. Cochran, Mississippi’s powerful senior senator, has helped bring to fruition, thanks to his skill at procuring federal funds: The construction of the air-traffic control tower at the Olive Branch Airport. The new east-west stretch of Interstate, which will bisect the county when completed. And a state-of-the-art regional sewer system that solved a chronic wastewater management problem, allowing DeSoto County to attract new industry and build new neighborhoods.

Yeah but people on welfares and foodstamps and spending ARGH!!11

“Everybody’s got their hand out like these damn people at the food stamp office,” Mr. Harris, 67, said between sips of coffee on Thursday at a local barbecue restaurant. “They’ve got to put an end to all of this spending.”

Others, like Jane Buehl Coln of Olive Branch, suspect that whatever benefits have come to Mississippi have come at a steep price.
“There’s no telling what kinds of liberal things he had to vote for to get those kinds of things for Mississippi — what kind of trading he had to do,” she said.

(snip)

Marty Wiseman, a political science professor and the former director of the John C. Stennis Institute of Government and Community Development at Mississippi State University, said he was astonished that so many voters were choosing Mr. McDaniel in a state with the nation’s highest poverty rate and lowest median household income and, according to the Tax Foundation, a nonprofit Washington think tank, one that receives the highest level of federal aid as a percentage of state revenue.

“It’s the strangest thing I’ve ever seen,” said Professor Wiseman, who considers himself a liberal by Mississippi standards. “It defies logic or reason for somebody to not only run on cutting off the supply of federal money to Mississippi, but to actually be winning the race.”

231 lawhawk  Jun 18, 2014 7:01:47am

That’ll probably force the NFL and Washington team owner to change the team name, though they’ll probably appeal the ruling even though it was the right one (and will likely set precedent for other sports teams around the nation that use similar terms).

Of course, a few are complaining that this is another sign of a bureaucracy run amok. That’s a bogus complaint since the US PTO has rules for trademarking, and that includes a prohibition of terms, phrases, and images that are disparaging. The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board ruled on the case, brought by a Native American against the team’s trademarks, and won.

Allowing the trademark to stand would have undermined the existing regulation prohibiting derogatory trademarks (in other words, allowing a group like the KKK or a white supremacist group to file trademarks and protect their use - like say against the SPLC that goes after these hate groups).

After reading the decision (note: I’m not a lawyer nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night), the decision merely prohibited them from registering the trademark. They can still enforce the trademark, although it would be harder to do so in court.

What annoys me though is how people blindly defend the name and logo. And claim the name is about pride. It’s about your pride that you’ve gotten from watching a team with that name on the football field and you would have gotten that same pride if the team had the same success in the past using the nickname the “Washington Tinkerbells.” There’s never been any attempt to think “Gee, this logo and name may be offensive.” I still contend and this is no defense of these people who accept the logo and name but they accept it because it’s what they’ve always known. The rage you get from Washingtonian and other DC area fans when you criticize the name is telling too.

And, as I said previously, the ruling doesn’t cancel the trademark, it cancels its registration:

As explained below, we decide, based on the evidence properly before us, that these registrations must be cancelled because they were disparaging to Native Americans at the respective times they were registered, in violation of Section 2(a) of the Trademark Act of 1946, 15 U.S.C. § 1052(a). This decision concerns only the statutory right to registration under Section 2(a). We lack statutory authority to issue rulings concerning the right to use trademarks. Historic Black Cemetery Bulldozed

The Bradshaw Cemetery is clearly marked on Rand McNally maps and Key Maps, yet heavy equipment started clearing a large swath through the area Monday, seemingly without warning.

The common law rights may prevent someone else from trying to use the trademark, but that becomes an uphill battle, and isn’t worth the time or effort. But the PTO indicates that registering this particular trademark isn’t possible as a violation of federal law.

Common law rights can prevent someone else from registering the trademark or challenge an application, but that’s not the issue here. The Board ruled you can’t hold a valid federal trademark, and it’s up to Snyder and the NFL to figure out what to do.

If I were the NFL, I’d move to get the name changed, and push for new jerseys too (since that’s a huge cashflow for the team and league).

From the NYT article on the Mississippi Senate race I posted above (or below if reading in Spy):

For Tim Cole, a blackjack dealer and used car detailer, the issue was not so much what Mr. Cochran had brought home, but what Mr. McDaniel could bring to Washington. Mr. Cole, 50, said he believed that Mr. McDaniel would do a better job of representing his conservative values, which included an opposition to President Obama’s health care law and to same-sex marriage.

Even if it takes us getting poorer and poorer still we still musts gets rid of Obamacare and the same sex marriage1

The new Interstate? Mr. Cole said that had been built only to give gamblers an easier route to the casinos in neighboring Tunica County — Mr. Cochran’s gift, he said, to the casino owners.

What need has we of any roadz? REPEAL OBMACARE!!!

And the rest of the local projects? Mr. Cole said he would rather take a gamble on a world without such Washington perks.

This should be an interesting experiment. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.

“I can’t wait for the whole system to be turned upside down,” he said.

This should end well.

The defense of the current logo basically falls into - because, history.

Which would ignore the larger, longer, and more reprehensible big H history of the US treatment of Native Americans. And in this instance, the history of the team franchise is trumped by the history of the treatment of Native Americans and that the PTO is following the Lanham Act on what constitutes a disparaging trademark that shouldn’t be registered.

A law that has been in place for decades.

It’s all about the logo being the only thing many of these people have ever known. Even my uncle who at 70 has been around for most of the Redskins history was dumbfounded when I told him about how the Redskins founder was a segregationist. Now contrast that with the people like the Maras, Rooneys, Lombardi, and other peons of early NFL history and you can show that he wasn’t a product of his times but a pure bigot who nearly had the Kennedy Interior department remove the Skins’ lease in DC after they refused to integrate.

Harjo was essentially the same case as the current one, except it was doomed on procedural grounds (laches - or the delay in asserting the right in court), even though the Board found that the trademark should be canceled.

The Supreme Court denied cert in hearing the appeal on those procedural grounds, so the case was remanded to the Board, which then found that even the youngest plaintiff in the case was also bound by laches.

Iran digs in heels on nuclear centrifuges at Vienna talks -envoys

Two other stumbling blocks are Iran’s planned Arak nuclear reactor - which Western officials suspect could be a source of plutonium, an alternative to HEU as bomb fuel - and Iranian clarification of intelligence indications that it researched how to design bombs in the past - something it also denies doing.

Diplomatic sources have told Reuters that it is increasingly probable Iran will seek a prolongation of the talks deadline. But Western officials insisted the focus now remained on sealing the deal by late July, noting that any extension must be agreed by all sides and would likely be short. “If there is an extension it will be for a few weeks,” a diplomat from one of the six powers told Reuters. If a deal were really within reach, the sides should not need six more months, the maximum extension approved under a preliminary deal Iran struck with the six powers in Geneva last November.

Honestly, what I always ask the defenders and I’ve had this conversation many a time given most of my family root for this team is what would the reaction today be if a team with this name and logo were to be an expansion team. They’ve come to accept the name because it’s all they’ve ever known and that blinds them to the reality of its offensive nature. And they can’t really answer that question because I think many do know/realize its offensive. Really, I heard Joe Gibbs asked about the name and he says it’s about pride. Well, Joe, that’s nice and all but if you had won all those SBs you won in the 80’s and early 90’s as the coach of the Washington Wankers. There would be a lot of proud “wankers” too. It’s not the name that made people proud to root for that team. It’s what they did.

I’ve never seen it, but I’ve heard tell of it from older Germans. A friend of mine’s daughter had a German translation of Pippi Longstocking, and her father’s title wasn’t “fat white chief” like it is in the most recent editions of the series. It was an older book, at least as old as I am, if not older, though I didn’t check to see when it was published.

Nah. From Kristol in particular, I want not just an apology, but admission that he’s a clueless incompetent who would be a used car salesman if he hadn’t won the sperm lottery.

And from the media, I want a mea culpa for their action in enabling half-wit sperm lottery winners like Kristol and Donald Trump and continuing to treat them as if they’re “experts” in anything.

All over the world.

In Colombia, it’s called Beso De Negra (Black Woman’s Kiss) or “Chocmelo”, a portmanteau of chocolate and masmelo (marshmallow). However, these last ones don’t always have a cookie as its base.

Still in use.

Gabriel: What we found was shocking and we found that history is being whitewashed, Islam is given preferential treatment in public schools, and political correctness has literally altered how history is being taught in our public schools to our children.

How can the future generation of America protect America and make the right decisions that will protect and serve America and keep America a great nation if they are being fed mistruths about historical, factual information. Hitler made a very important statement, Hitler said, ‘give me the children, I will change society in ten years,’ and that is exactly what he did and look where we ended up and we’re seeing the same thing happening with our children right now. And by the way, all paid for by our tax dollars in public schools.

Al Davis could be an ass at times, but his support for civil rights was touching.

Among NFL team owners, Al Davis was one of a kind.

He always thought that he should have become NFL Commissioner instead of Pete Rozelle. He sued the NFL several times, to move his franchise from Oakland to LA and back to Oakland. IIRC, he usually won his lawsuits against the NFL.

During breaks at team owner meetings, Al & Jerry Jones would sit off by themselves, and you could imagine the other owners looking and wondering, “what are Al and Jerry cooking up this time.”

Although it wasn’t what he normally wore, I’ll always remember Al wearing a white jump suit (just like Elvis) with a cape to one of the team owners meeting press conference.

Yeah true.

As a downtrodden Browns fan, you have to remember they had almost made the super bowl two years in the late 80s (Kosar vs Elway) and made the playoffs two years before Modell took them to Baltimore. Then they go and win the Super Bowl a few years later as the Ravens.

The All-new Browns came back in 99 with an owner that was old and did die a few years in and turned it over to his son (Randy Lerner) who really liked his soccer team (British?) more and really just let anyone take over the show, and if that didn’t work in 2 years they were all fired.

Yeah, that’ll work.

Now they have owner Jimmy Haslam, brother of Tennessee governor Bill Haslam. He finds himself in trouble with the Pilot/Flying J Trucks stops and the feds are going through the books.

Who knows…but it can’t have been a bigger mess since coming back.

Sigh.

That’s partially because they see the same rhetoric used in the past for anti-Semitism simply being rephrased to be anti-Muslim with a simple copy and paste. I think secondarily is that they know that the rhetoric from these same blowhards (or their allies) would turn back to anti-Semitic in a heartbeat as well given the opportunity.

During a private legislative briefing in the basement of the Capitol, congressmen — many of them rising stars in the Tea Party movement where Gabriel has made many inroads — spoke freely about the danger supposedly posed by Muslims. “This jihadist, Islamist, terrorist ideology, it is more dangerous than the Nazi ideology,” Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) told about 250 ACT members who attended. “As evil as the Nazis were, they wanted to live.”
splcenter.org

Trent Franks:

“Thomas Jefferson once said, “The constitutional freedom of religion [is] the most inalienable and sacred of all human rights.”

Religious liberty is our first freedom and it is the cornerstone of all other human freedoms. The Bill of Rights passed by the First Congress included protections for religious freedom because without religious liberty and freedom of conscience, all other liberties cease to exist. Indeed, religious liberty is the wellspring of our other liberties and a defining statement of freedom in America.”

I was starting to worry. The FB wingnuts are usually so much more vocal. There’s hope. Heh.

You should tell him that if he’s a libertarian, he should be glad because now he has the freedom to make Washington Redskins knock-off merch.

My FB wingnuts have gone the other way so far today. Roaring out of the gate this morning, jabbering about how the terrorist takedown was to help Hillary sell books. I roundly mocked them, and I was surprised when they stopped.

But they’ll be back later. They always come back.
