Apparently Scott Walker is about to enter a world of shit

In the documents, prosecutors lay out what they call a “criminal scheme” to bypass state election laws by Walker, his campaign and two top deputies — R.J. Johnson and Deborah Jordahl.

The governor and his close confidants helped raise money and control spending through 12 conservative groups during the recall elections, according to the prosecutors’ filings.

The documents include an email in which Walker tells Karl Rove, former top adviser to President George W. Bush, that Johnson would lead the coordination campaign. Johnson is also chief adviser to Wisconsin Club for Growth, a conservative group active in the recall elections.

“Bottom-line: R.J. helps keep in place a team that is wildly successful in Wisconsin. We are running 9 recall elections and it will be like 9 congressional markets in every market in the state (and Twin Cities),” Walker wrote to Rove on May 4, 2011.

A federal judge unsealed the court documents Thursday as part of a lawsuit attempting to halt the secret investigation into the so-called John Doe probe into the recall elections.

I read (somewhere?) that the term “redskin” is particularly offensive because it was also used to denote scalps taken from Native Americans as battle trophies. If that is true, then what is already offensive enough becomes just about the most obscene epithet I can imagine!

Update:

…in 1755 issued by King George II of Great Britain, known commonly as the Phips Proclamation.[19][20] The proclamation orders, “His Majesty’s subjects to Embrace all opportunities of pursuing, captivating, killing and Destroying all and every of the aforesaid Indians.” The colonial government paid 50 pounds for scalps of males over 12 years, 25 pounds for scalps of women over 12, and 20 pounds for scalps of boys and girls under 12. Twenty-five British pounds sterling in 1755, worth around $9,000 today 𠅊 small fortune in those days when an English teacher earned 60 pounds a year.[19] Since the proclamation itself does not use the word, citing it as the origin of “redskin” as another word for scalp has also been called “revisionist history”.[21] However, a historical association between the use of “redskin” and the paying of bounties can be made. In 1863, a Winona, MN newspaper, the Daily Republican, printed among other announcements: “The state reward for dead Indians has been increased to $200 for every red-skin sent to Purgatory.

Indeed. How many Republicans (including Cheney) were claiming we had “won” in Iraq before ISIS came along? Very few. But now, as sectarian turmoil again grows, it’s an irresistible revision of history for Cheney and other Iraq architects; and an absolutely necessary revision in order to attack Obama.

I suppose it’s human nature. These are mostly old people (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, et al.). In their 60s, 70s and 80s, after decades of developing their foreign policy ideology, there’s little chance they’re gonna change or admit mistakes.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - On June 19, 2014, Lexington’s Kyle Carpenter will be awarded the Medal of Honor from President Barack Obama.

Carpenter, 24, will receive the award for his heroic actions in Afghanistan. Back in 2010, Carpenter threw himself on a grenade during a Taliban attack, intentionally placing himself between a grenade and another Marine, saving his fellow service member’s life.

Among the many injuries he sustained were the loss of his right eye and pieces of shrapnel from the grenade entering his body.

After a long recovery, he came back to the Midlands, where he’s now a student at the University of South Carolina.

When last I’d checked, Walker’s poll numbers were at best a dead-heat and at worst he was trailing. But at the time I was assured by Dark that Walker was still the favorite to win. That the polls only reflected the recent end of the Dem primaries and that, now that Walker’s opponent was nominated, he’d quickly retake the lead in the polls.

a progressive might laugh and quote will rogers: “i don’t belong to any organized political party - i’m a democrat”

a wingnut construes the issue as an insult to ‘liberals’ by inventing an imaginary ‘confusion’ and phrasing what is actually an admission as a schoolyard taunt

Cool. And you have black kittehs. You are already for Halloween, and you have real decorations.

Any ghosts around in those backwoods?

Ghosts are in the house.
yes…they are…

Is that the new ballistic missile sub they’ve been working on since Clinton was in office?

No. it’s a fast attack. Meant to be the counter to our Seawolf and Virgina class submarines.

I question the timing.

Nice and subtle. I like that.

Must be today’s talking point. Is this based on Megan Kelly asking Dickless Cheney a couple of “tough” questions?

Also, as I am sure many are aware…do they not even see they all close their ranks almost everyday as they all parrot the same talking points?

Self-awareness. What does it mean?

To me we agree with the point of the article.

Ya think?

I don’t think that’s the point of the article, no. You seriously think that’s why The Daily Caller, Tucker Carlson’s rag, published that article? The Daily Caller where Ann Coulter has a column?

Where in the article are you getting the idea they are saying those other trademarks should be disallowed?

funny how “military advisers” automatically translates to “special forces” to the keyboard commandos.

US likely to send teams of Green Berets to Iraq

There are already a handful of the special forces in Iraq that have been there as part of the Office of Security Cooperation in Baghdad. They would likely be the first to be sent out as part of this plan, said the official who was not authorized to speak publicly and thus talked on condition of anonymity. The other Green Berets would be brought in from around the region.

The commandos would not be fighting in direct combat, but could provide intelligence and greater insight into what the Iraqi units need.

Update on the 100 300 special forces
Obama: Military advisers, not troops, headed to Iraq

When coupled with previously announced steps, Obama’s actions could put about 600 additional U.S. troops back on the ground in Iraq. The 300 military advisers he announced Thursday would join up to 275 being positioned in and around Iraq to provide security and support for the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and other American interests.

I’m sure historically we’ve sent advisers to advise before but they often end up doing other stuff too. Not sure what the ratio is.

If you add sour cream to the sauce, you’ll have a pretty decent Stroganoff….but that could be considered gilding the lily….
