Former Congressman Joe Walsh Goes Full Metal Racist

He really wanted to say it, so he did
Wingnuts • Views: 32,827

Here’s a segment of tonight’s Twitter timeline from far right ex-Congressman Joe Walsh, who apparently is in trouble with his radio station because he insisted on spewing racial slurs over the air.

UPDATE at 6/19/14 7:03:27 pm by Charles Johnson

Here’s a screenshot, in case these tweets disappear.

How can you add a Tweet to a collection if that person has blocked you? Other than creating a separate Twitter account just for the collections.

Yep, if they’ve blocked you you can’t add their tweets to a collection. I see the reasoning for this, actually.

How did you make the collection of Glenn Greenwald & Julian Assange’s bitchslap fest?

9 HappyWarrior  Jun 19, 2014 6:53:42pm

Really Walsh suffers from the same disease that nearly all conservatives do. Refusing to empathize with other people. It’s like oh I can’t bother trying to understand why this may be offensive. I just carry on with my white conservative privilege ways.

My question is:
Why is he so hell bent on using that kind of language?
If you ask me, he just wanted to say “N” and “S” as many times on the air as he could. Being a proud bigot seems to be the RWNJ’s raison-d’être these days.
Bastard.

15 Lidane  Jun 19, 2014 6:58:49pm

re: #14 OhNoZombies!

Why is he so hell bent on using that kind of language?

Because POTUS skates by on his race and being racist against whites and gets away with it. Why not do the same things?

It’s not so much that they aren’t self-aware. They are and very intrigued by their own selves. To the level of Narcissism. Lack of creative ability to think of others as anything but objects seems to make it impossible for them to empathize.

This could be a sign of immaturity, or pathology. I don’t know. I’m not a professional.

OT Drive-by:

Cost of scramble to solve VA’s waiting-time crisis: $54 billion yearly

Like a waiter bringing the check after a high-spirited meal in a fine restaurant, the Congressional Budget Office has dampened some good vibes among lawmakers who rushed to solve the access-to-care crisis for veterans.

CBO estimates the cost of requiring the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide non-VA medical care to any enrolled veteran who cannot get a VA medical appointment within 30 days, or who lives more than 40 miles from a VA medical facility, at a stunning $54 billion annually.

That estimate takes into account language in both the House and Senate versions of the bill that would end new guarantees on access to non-VA care after two years. But by then, CBO predicts, two million more vets who don’t use VA care today will be drawn to it by new ease of access.

Veterans service organizations, though grateful overall, are worried about unintended consequences of HR 4810, as passed by the House, and of HR 3230, as modified and passed by the Senate. If politicians aren’t truly committed to treating more vets, then VA budgets to run existing facilities could be put at risk, and many vets won’t see gains in access long term. […]

One big worry is that, in mandating expansion of VA’s purchased care authority, Congress must commit to forcing VA to accurately estimate and budget for the added health costs.Congress, in turn, must fully fund the new authorities and not rely on budget “gimmicks” or shift funds from accounts needed to run VA hospitals, clinics and other health care programs. […]

I REMEMBER the number 90K from today’s broadcast. Scientists find 6,200-year-old parasite egg in ancient skeleton

LONDON - In a skeleton more than 6,200 years old, scientists have found the earliest known evidence of infection with a parasitic worm that now afflicts more than 200 million people worldwide.

Archaeologists discovered a parasite egg near the pelvis of a child skeleton in northern Syria and say it dates back to a time when ancient societies first used irrigation systems to grow crops. Scientists suspect the new farming technique meant people were spending a lot of time wading in warm water — ideal conditions for the parasites to jump into humans. That may have triggered outbreaks of the water-borne flatworm disease known as schistosomiasis.

“The invention of irrigation was a major technological breakthrough (but) it had unintended consequences,” said Gil Stein, a professor of Near Eastern archaeology at the University of Chicago, one of the report’s authors. “A more reliable food supply came at the cost of more disease,” he wrote in an email.

People can catch the flatworm parasite when they are in warm fresh water; the tiny worms are carried by snails and can burrow into human skin. After growing into adult worms, they live in the bladder, kidneys, intestines and elsewhere in the body for years. The parasites can cause symptoms including a fever, rash, abdominal pain, vomiting and paralysis of the legs. These days, the disease can be easily treated with drugs to kill the worms.

Stein said there was evidence of wheat and barley farming in the town where the skeletons were found and that irrigation might have also spurred outbreaks of other diseases like malaria by creating pools of stagnant water for mosquitoes to breed.

Also on Sunday, conservative columnist Amity Shlaes was interviewed about her recent biography of Calvin Coolidge. Charles Murray, the libertarian political scientist and author of the controversial book The Bell Curve, gave dinner remarks. Other highlights included “Collectivism: Exploring Its Nature and Consequences” and “The Foundation for Progress,” which was broken down into several sessions, including “Part One: Drive the National Conversation,” “Part Two: Leverage Science and the Universities,” “Part Three: Advance in the States,” concluding with the aforementioned McConnell talk. Part One featured Michael Lomax, the president and CEO of the United Negro College Fund, which recently received a $25 million donation from the Kochs to create a special “Koch Scholars” program emphasizing entrepreneurialism and free markets. Lomax has faced a storm of criticism for taking the money, given the history of attacks by Koch-funded organizations on voting rights, which do the most harm to underprivileged minorities who typically vote Democratic.

Trying to put up a cache link so no one hits the nutcase site.

This week, I learned of the existence of donotlink.com

What is donotlink?
Linking to dubious websites

You’ve all heard there’s no such thing as bad publicity. On the internet this is doubly true. When you link to a website — regardless of the reason — this strengthens its position in search engines. This means that a bad review of a website makes it more popular.

When you are discussing or alerting others to a website that promotes a fraud, scam, cult or other questionable business and you link to that site, search engines will (after a while) improve the offending site’s rank.
Therefore, more people will find these shady websites, and will be exposed to their content without getting the proper context.

That’s where donotlink comes in. With donotlink.com, you can link to sites without giving them “Google juice”.

Republicans unveil fake Mary Burke website at MaryBurke.com

If you punch maryburke.com into your web browser, don’t expect to find a glowing portrayal of the Democratic candidate for governor of Wisconsin.

Quite the opposite, as the site is run by the Republican Party of Wisconsin, which grabbed the domain last year when the Madison School Board member emerged as the chief Democratic challenger to incumbent Gov. Scott Walker.

The site slickly mirrors the real Mary Burke site at burkeforwisconsin.com, except that it features negative content. For instance, the bumper sticker logo at the top of the home page which reads “Mary Burke: Outsourcer” instead of “Mary Burke: Governor.” The silhouette of Wisconsin that appear’s on the real Burke site is replaced with a dollar sign.

16 Wacky Ideas In The Texas Republican Party’s New Platform

1) Pornography Should Be Treated Just Like Cocaine

and it goes on and on. (PDF link)

131 FemNaziBitch  Jun 19, 2014 9:28:35pm
Family and Defense of Marriage- We support the definition of marriage as a God-ordained, legal and moral commitment only between a natural man and a natural woman.

cue the Lady:
Youtube Video

132 FemNaziBitch  Jun 19, 2014 9:31:07pm
Family Values- We support the affirmation of traditional Judeo-Christian family values and oppose the continued assault on those values. We strongly support a woman’s right to choose to devote her life to her family and children. We recognize her sacrifice in the face of the assault on the family. Additionally, we recognize the challenges of single parents and applaud their efforts in creating a stable and moral home.

She has the right to be poor and homeless, yeah they’ll support that.

***grr****

133 FemNaziBitch  Jun 19, 2014 9:33:01pm
Homosexuality- Homosexuality is a chosen behavior that is contrary to the fundamental unchanging truths that have been ordained by God in the Bible, recognized by our nation’s founders, and shared by the majority of Texans. Homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable alternative lifestyle, in public policy, nor should family be redefined to include
homosexual couples. We believe there should be no granting of special legal entitlements or creation of special status for homosexual behavior, regardless of state of origin. Additionally, we oppose any criminal or civil penalties against those who oppose homosexuality out of faith,
conviction, or belief in traditional values.

But, were ok, as long as we don’t get caught with Rent Boys —we’ll cover each other’s ass, so to speak.

Reparative Therapy- We recognize the legitimacy and efficacy of counseling, which offers reparative therapy and treatment for those patients seeking healing and wholeness from their homosexual lifestyle. No laws or executive orders shall be imposed to limit or restrict access to this type of therapy

134 FemNaziBitch  Jun 19, 2014 9:34:38pm
Abortion Legislation- Until our final goal of total constitutional rights for the unborn child is achieved, we support laws that restrict and regulate abortion including, but not limited to:
1. Parental and informed consent;
2. Prohibition of abortion for gender selection;
3. Prohibition of abortion due to the results of genetic diagnosis
4. licensing, liability, and malpractice insurance for abortionists and abortion facilities;
5. Prohibition of financial kickbacks for abortion referrals;
6. Prohibition of partial-birth, late-term abortions
7. The prohibition of the manufacturing and sale of abortifacients (e.g. morning after pill);
8. New causes of action for so called “wrongful birth” or “wrongful life”;
9. Enactment of any other laws which will advance the right to life for unborn children;
10. Health insurance coverage for abortion services and abortifacients, which under Texas law should be considered supplemental coverage and billed to the beneficiary;
and
11. Repeal of judicial bypass.

Unless one our daughters get’s pregnant with a black child.

135 FemNaziBitch  Jun 19, 2014 9:36:31pm
United Nations Treaty on the Rights of the Child- We unequivocally oppose the United States Senate’s ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Children are the legal property of their father until they turn 18

But, were ok, as long as we don’t get caught with Rent Boys —we’ll cover each other’s ass, so to speak.

Those basic stances are also almost certain to be in the 2016 GOP national platform. They’ll tone ‘em down slightly, call it support for traditional marriage, but the gist will be the same. The modern GOP is the bigot’s party.

Also, a girl’s virginity belongs to her father until he gives her away in marriage.

Because that’s not creepy or anything.

138 FemNaziBitch  Jun 19, 2014 9:38:10pm
Food Choice- We support the right of individuals to make their own dietary decisions. We oppose any laws regarding the production, distribution, or consumption of food. Government should not restrict non-genetically engineered seeds

Incandescent Light Bulbs- We support the freedom to incandescent light bulbs.

Yes, this is an actual plank in the Texas GOP Platform.

143 FemNaziBitch  Jun 19, 2014 9:54:26pm
Investigate Benghazi- We call upon the United States House of Representatives to appoint a select committee and a special prosecutor in order to subpoena testimony to fully investigate all aspects of the Benghazi debacle, including, but not limited to, the reason Ambassador Stevens was in Benghazi; the denied assistance before and during the attack, the accounts of personnel who participated in the defense of the embassy annex, and the apparent attempt by the White House to deceive the American public with a concocted story about a spontaneous reaction to a YouTube video. We call for bringing those responsible to justice, including jail time.

I can’t come-up with a comment sarcastic enough for this one.

Some people believe what they want to believe, no matter how wrong it is. I hate to say this as a teacher, but there are some (few, fortunately) who simply cannot be taught. Once they have an idea lodged in their brain, no matter how inane or wrong it is, they will hold onto it like a lifeline. All you can do is hope that at the very least their wrongheadedness will not lead to tragedy.

174 Dr Lizardo  Jun 20, 2014 3:26:39am

Looks like some heavy flooding hit eastern Bulgaria, especially around the Black Sea port city of Varna, leading to at least 10 deaths.

Forecasters said that the equivalent of a month’s worth of rain fell in the regions of Varna and Burgas over the last 24 hours.

“The tragedy is enormous. I am here on a street in the suburb of Aspruhovo. The street is not here, the houses are not here, there are cars on top of each other,” Varna mayor Ivan Portnih was quoted by the Reuters new agency as saying.

And it looks like more heavy rain is on the way.

Photos taken by people she knows well of soldiers drinking Starbucks in Iraq would also have no impact. Hell, if she saw them drinking Starbucks herself, she’s still think the company hadn’t sent them.

Microbeads In Soaps Facing Bans Due To Great Lakes Pollution

What puts the ‘scrub’ in facial scrub? Typically, they are tiny plastic microbeads, ranging in size from 0.0004 to 1.24 millimeters. In December 2013, a paper was published in Marine Pollution Bulletin and described how the Great Lakes were choking from this plastic pollution. While Lake Michigan had an average of 17,000 microbeads per square kilometer, some areas of Lake Ontario had as many as 1.1 million beads per square kilometer. How much harm can something so tiny really do? As it turns out, a whole hell of a lot.

Washing your face with something like Clean & Clear’s facial scrub can put as many as 330,000 microbeads down the drain per bottle, according to Gizmodo. These particles are much too small to be filtered out by wastewater facilities, so they are just passed along with the cleaned water, which eventually makes its way to lakes. These tiny particles coat the floor of the lake, choking out plant life. Additionally, some creatures mistake them for fish eggs and ingest them. Unable to digest the particles, their gut becomes filled with the plastic until they ultimately starve to death. The small fish who eat the plastic are eaten by progressively larger fish, all of whom begin to accumulate the plastic.

Doomsday prepper Martin Winters surrenders, held without bail

TAMPA — Federal authorities sought doomsday prepper Martin Winters for two days in the woods of east Hillsborough County, attempting to arrest him on weapons charges.

On the third day, agents didn’t need to look far at all.

Winters, soggy-shoed and hungry, waited with a daughter in a car outside the FBI field office on Gray Street in Tampa on Wednesday morning as his attorneys stepped up to a reception desk and arranged his surrender.

In trade, he got cheeseburgers, fries, Gatorade, dry shoes, praise from the FBI and a morning free of gunfire — all this from the agency that had spent months chronicling his antigovernment rhetoric and spying on his preparations for an imminent “last stand” with law enforcement.

They county paid for the building, it’s the commonly-accepted practice around Fredericksburg, VA.

As for the establishment clause problem, the YMCA, at least around here, seems to be a pretty secular organization. There’s at least one court case, this one from the Northern District of Ohio, upholding government funding for the YMCA.

re: #233 FemNaziBitch

Here’s another court opinion upholding government support for the YMCA:

For purposes of constitutional analysis, the question is not whether the YMCA has religious aspects, which admittedly it does, but the extent to which the religious dimension permeates the institution. In determining whether state aid advances religion in violation of the establishment clause, the test is:

Aid normally may be thought to have a primary effect of advancing religion when it flows to an institution in which religion is so pervasive that a substantial portion of its functions are subsumed in the religious mission or when it funds a specifically religious activity in an otherwise substantially secular setting.

Hunt v. McNair, 413 U.S. 734, 743, 93 S.Ct. 2868, 2874, 37 L.Ed.2d 923 (1973).

Here the trial court found that the Minneapolis YMCA is not pervasively religious, that its functions are not subsumed in its religious mission. This finding is amply sustained by the evidence and is not clearly erroneous. If one looks beyond the “institutional rhetoric,” Hunt, 413 U.S. at 743, 93 S.Ct. at 2874, it appears that despite its name and religious roots, the YMCA operates its health and recreational center in a nonsectarian manner. Moreover, it is clear, as the trial court also found, that the LaSalle Place Project does not fund a specifically religious activity in an otherwise substantially secular setting.

etc. in a similar vein for anyone that wants to read the whole opinion.

As for the local YMCA, I’m more worried about the lying crooks that are running it than any “Christianness”.

You do realize that accused rapists - defendants in criminal cases - have a right to trial counsel? It’s part of the Constitution’s Bill of Rights in fact. Complaining that Clinton was a rapist’s counsel is a nonstarter in my book.

Lawyers have to defend the indefensible at times - no where more than in criminal cases. And given the way that the justice system has failed in many of these cases should remind everyone that the system needs strong defense teams to question the evidence presented (where DNA evidence is frequently exculpatory, if it was even used because rape kits weren’t available, processed, or even treated properly).

My bet would be that the person is making an ignorant connection between the word “Christian” in YMCA and the teen pregnancy rate. Said ignorance stemming from a multitude of misunderstandings and projections.

Stupidity’s always a good bet when dealing this supervisor (Wayne Acors): Regarding the YMCA, the county signed off on the loans to pay for the building while the supervisor and the YMCA itself claimed that not a single cent of taxpayer money would go to pay off county’s loan because there were hundreds of people and businesses out that just begging to pay for the building.

That worked out about as well as you would expect it to.

And no one at either of the two local newspaper, nor the other board members, had the balls to call “bullshit” on this prediction/promise when it was made.

Top Shiite cleric deals blow to al-Maliki leadership

“It is necessary for the winning political blocs to start a dialogue that yields an effective government that enjoys broad national support, avoids past mistakes and opens new horizons toward a better future for all Iraqis,” al-Sisanti said in a message delivered by his representative Ahmed al-Safi in the holy city of Karbala.

The Iranian-born recluse, who lives in the holy city of Najaf south of Baghdad, is deeply revered by Iraq’s Shiites.

The cleric’s thinly veiled comments suggested that the prime minister was to blame for the nation’s crisis as Sunni militants have joined forces with the al-Qaeda-inspired Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS).

It was al-Sistani’s appeal last week that prompted thousands of Shiites to volunteer to fight against the military threat by ISIL.

Claus von Bülow (1984)
Józef Glemp (1989)
Mike Barnicle (1990)
O.J. Simpson (1995)
Jeffrey Epstein (2006)

Dershowitz provided legal assistance to friend and reported billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was investigated following accusations that he had repeatedly solicited sex from minors. Dershowitz investigated some of Epstein’s accusers and provided both the police and the State attorney’s office with a dossier containing information about their personal behavior, which had been obtained from their personal MySpace pages, including allegations of alcohol and drug use. Eventually, in 2008, Epstein pled guilty to a single state charge of soliciting prostitution and began serving an 18-month sentence.

I think a lot of it has to do with how you were raised, what you expect, etc. Even at my age and receiving a very modest SS check, I could survive, even if it was tough and I had to do without (and other than 2 grandchildren, I have no one to rely on).

Many people my age were working at least PT at 13, 14 or so. When I wanted to get married at 17, my father in effect said, Don’t let the door hit you in the ass. In fact, in FL at the time, you had to have a parent’s signature if you were under 18 and my stepmother signed. I went on to raise 2 kids as a single mom, working at low level (secy, acctg, paralegal) jobs. I also bought 2 houses, but not my first until I was 37 and by then, my kids were grown. There were plenty of others like me.

It really is hard for a lot of us older folks who are products of another generation to understand why someone pushing 30 isn’t working at something and making their own life.

I don’t discount the economy one bit, but I think expectations which foster the kind of debt we’re seeing are leading some down a garden path.

Economics and labor supply. How does that work again?

Anyone pointing to this as meaning minimum wage doesn’t need adjusted elsewhere is deluding themselves. That area of North Dakota is basically an outlier right now, and the housing rates, food prices and wages will crash back towards the averages once the drilling boom moves on.

And the comment about minimum wage hurting the unskilled doesn’t get any additional support from the article and doesn’t really fit the topic. Thrown in to be “edgy” I guess.

It’s like those who point to Texas as “proof” that job growth isn’t dependent on high wages, ignoring that the only thing sustaining Texas’ economic growth right now is the oil and gas sector. Remove those and the state’s economy would implode.

It’s hard to tell for sure with a low quality pic from twitter. It’s looks suspicious enough but if it’s real I’m sure there will be plenty more pics to verify. It’s certainly plausible enough to be real but people make stuff up, it’s the internet and there are lots of fakes.

481 ObserverArt  Jun 20, 2014 9:46:47am

Another thing for Mr. Outrage KT.

The focal plane is right on the Obama toy. Typical quick shot camera…focused right on the toy and losing sharpness forward or backward of the focal plane. Look at the detail and sharpness in the bottom of the pipe where it meets the urinal. Right in the same focal range. Draw a line up from the toy to the pipe…same plane.

And for b-sharp.

Hard plastic against all that soft white, water, etc and lighting can make that bottom edge look real hard.

Looks pretty legit to me.

The way the Obama plastic head is sitting on the screen looks somehow wrong to me.

There are plastic Obama urinal targets, cakes and screens out there, but they don’t look like that one.

I’m not an expert in shopped photos, that one just looks off to my little brain.

It’s not a commercial one that shows up in Google, might be a home-made effort from a bobble head.

At any rate, I like to think of the RWNJs using them, standing there with their dick for a moment’s reflection on how far they’ve evolved.

Dude, I posted the politico link from 2003, which has the AP picture credit for the story. You’re completely wrong and there was no reason at all, ever, to think that it was shopped. McCain’s trip to Syria provided an obvious scenario where he’d have met ISIS members. It took literally 30 seconds to verify this story. Why not take the most minute amount of time to avoid clowning yourself and getting yourself into this trainwreck?

You really are an expert at making yourself look like a fool.

This is a guy covering the conference. He’s a reporter - not only would he lose his job if he made something like that up and it was found out, but there’s no incentive for him to do it when the RW’ers are already providing a bunch of material in the form of rape jokes and discussions of whether it’s OK to say the Washington racial slur in public.

Verdict: real.

I’ll defer to your better educated eye.

I’ve shot a ton of product photos in my life. I’ve done quick images for a net store with a smallish Nikon digital point and shoot. They can have those hard edges and the focal plane of about 1/2” with drop off at 5/8” either way. Digital does that sometimes. The harsh light of the little flash against all that white bouncing the flash back can enhance that too.

Journalism ain’t what it used to be and fake stories get pushed by outlets a lot more reputable that HufPo. It causes me no pain to be skeptical and wait for more evidence when I see something fishy. An Obama image in a urinal is hardly the most important thing in the universe but it’s good practice.
