I’ll post the Rachel Maddow video clip about these disgusting “pro-life” people as soon as it’s available.

This really was a major breaking point for me. I could not continue to be associated with people who supported this anti-woman violence.

I´ll not say what I think out of deference to your polices here, Charles. Let it simply be known that I despise these Forced Birth Terrorists.

Charles Johnson,

I’m glad I left the right behind as well. Neither of us is every going back. I just wish I had done so sooner, and you probably feel the same way.

Obama asks Congress for $500 million to train Syria rebels

President Obama on Thursday asked Congress for the first time to approve direct U.S. military training for Syrian rebels, but he remains deeply ambivalent about intervening in a deadly conflict that has spilled over into neighboring Iraq, U.S. officials said.

That’s some awfully expensive ambivalence.

7 Killgore Trout  Jun 26, 2014 7:31:09pm
The CIA has already been providing small-scale training to small numbers of Syrian rebels, but even if the training goes ahead, the Pentagon plan does not envision converting moderate rebel groups into a fighting force that is capable of winning back territory lost to the government of President Bashar Assad and to militant groups such as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS.

Rather, the training would be aimed at improving the U.S.-backed rebels’ ability to hang on to the territory they now hold, in hopes of eventually producing a negotiated settlement to the conflict, officials said.

Really? C’mon, let’s not waste our money.

Yeah, same here. I’d get banned if I said what I really think about these people. I’ll just settle for this instead:

It’s the blog equivalent of a child’s tantrum because they don’t like what the adults are doing.

Unfortunately only Muslims can be terrorists. These are just well behaved Christians practicing their faith in the privacy of own homes (like others before them they define home as anything they feel they are entitled to).

Getting back to the topic at hand, these are sick, deranged people. They’re celebrating a murder and have the gall to call themselves “pro-life”? Really?

They’re psychotic ghouls. It’s as simple as that.

19 jamesfirecat  Jun 26, 2014 7:43:10pm

My brother had a great line recently…

“Here is how you can tell if you are on the right side of an issue or not…

When you hear the phrase “Militantly pro-choice” do you need to ask yourself “oh has he blown up any churches/adoption centers….”

Because for them, potential > actual life.

That’s why they’re pro-ignoring the woman’s wants/wishes/desires/reality in favor of making her have the kid in the first place.

Exactly, it’s why they still picket and harass people going into a Planned Parenthood that doesn’t even provide abortions. They are literally harassing people just going into a low income women’s clinic.

And of course some of the male protester activists were real scary and strange at the same time.

I want it to be legal, but it’s distasteful enough and wasteful enough that I’ve love there to be enough comprehensive sex education and easy affordable accessibility to contraceptives so as to drastically diminish the need. I know for certain there are countries with as much (or more) sex as we have here, and yet much lower rates of unplanned pregnancy and abortion.

Perfectly reasonable thing to say, abortion is the last line of defense against a woman giving birth to a child she does not want (if she want the child she would not consider getting an abortion QED) but it only treats the symptoms rather than the disease of a society that makes it so tough on pregnant women/makes women so likely to get pregnant…

I can be pro-choice without knowing what decision I would make when it comes to my own body.

In fact, I am.

Strange, that. (NOT AT ALL.)

(And, for the record: ladies do notice when guys say absolutely nothing on this topic over the period of a year+ and file that information away.)

I think most reasonable people see it that way too.

And can we guess how many religious zealots there are in those countries? Our country is way backward as far as sexual lives and eroticism and just about everything related…due to religious heavy-handedness.

KT can be kind of a cock-knocker but he’s not that bad. Walter was much more of an overt and peppery vagina pants. His posts would trigger the tangy scent memory of well aged bitter old caucasian, which was kind of remarkable over the inter-tubes.

41 Lidane  Jun 26, 2014 8:05:03pm

re: #28 sagehen

I agree. I firmly believe that abortion is solely a woman’s choice, and that it’s between her and her doctor in the end. I ALSO think the better plan in the long run is to focus efforts on comprehensive, real sex education. No abstinence education, no bullshit myths or scare tactics about birth control or disease, nothing. Just real information given at age appropriate intervals. Add in free and easy access to birth control and to the morning after pill and we’d see both the unplanned pregnancy and abortion rates fall.

The more women are empowered to know about their bodies and the more freedom they’re given to control their fertility and their sexuality, the better.

42 goddamnedfrank  Jun 26, 2014 8:07:26pm

During the height of Occupy Wall Street he said he refused to use the pages to express his endless outrage because:

(A) It would mean moving his opinions to the back of the bus

and

On a different note, have you ever checked out this company? They’ve got an office in Austin and did a lot of seminars at the conference I went to earlier this month. Not sure if they’d have jobs suited to your line of work, since they’re more a development shop, but it might be worth looking into.

55 GeneJockey  Jun 26, 2014 8:16:00pm

I always like to point out to “pro-lifers” that Planned Parenthood has prevented more abortions than the entire “Pro-life” movement ever has, or ever will, and that if they really, really cared about preventing abortions, they’d support not only fully funding PP, but actually expanding it.

But they don’t really care about abortion. They care about control, and slutshaming, and punishing people. It’s why they love the OT so much, and pretty much ignore the gospels. Not enough rules, not enough fire and brimstone, not enough of The Wrong Sort Of People being smited.

Fuck them.

THIS. SO MUCH.

The so-called “pro-life” movement is really just a new version of misogyny. They don’t give a shit about babies or kids. See their hatred of welfare, WIC, early childhood education, free school lunches, etc. And they’re not pro-life since they’re rabidly in favor of the death penalty.

They just want to send women back into some mythical time and place that has never existed, where women were barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen and they were just incubators. Fuck ‘em.

re: #66 teleskiguy

It sort of is a theocracy. I mean there are some restraints on the Christian theocrats, but because they are the major religion they get a lot more leeway than anyone else. Honestly I do believe that if this were any other group harassing a more mainstream venue we’d see this upheld. No one wants to go after the Jesus crowd either because they are of them and empathize with the cause or are simply afraid to go against the majority religion.

It’s a tragedy that these Operation Rescue fanatics are incapable of seeing any humanity in other humans that don’t ascribe to their very narrow (and religious) worldview. Judging by their words - and indeed their actions by evil people like Scott Roeder, thankfully rotting in prison - I fail to see a humanity in them.

I have become convinced over the past couple of years (and even more so in recent months) that KT knows exactly what he’s doing when he pulls shit like derailing this thread right off the bat: it’s to make the conversation all about him and, unfortunately, he’s often successful.

KT thinks he’s smarter than the average bear because he’s not done the whole “going out in a blaze of glory” thing like past LGF trolls and giving Stinky no choice but to swiftly swing the banstick, but patience has its limits; eventually, he’ll find Charles’.

Me, I’m pretty much over KT playing the perpetual LGF contrarian attention whore. If Charles gives a way to blackhole Lizards and their posts, KT would be first on my list, because he adds abso-fucking-lutely nothing of any real value to LGF anymore, only drama and grief.

What struck me at the time was the callous brutality of the murder: An unarmed man was shot in the head at point-blank range in the foyer of his church. The celebrations that followed were pure depraved savagery, the RWNJs reminded me of cannibals feasting on defeated enemies or of demons capering in the light of a human bonfire.
It opened my eyes to a lot of things. I had pretty well left the right behind by the time, but the Tiller murder was still a milestone in my political journey: It was when I first started to see the right as a force for evil.
