Sarah Palin’s EXCLUSIVE Word Salad of the Day: Time to INPEACH!

“The last straw that makes the battered wife say, ‘no mas.’”
Wingnuts • Views: 28,770

Hang on to your tricorne hat and pantaloons, because it’s time for another EXCLUSIVE BREAKING BOMBSHELL word salad from the half-wit half-governor, brought to you by the crazed heirs of Andrew Breitbart: EXCLUSIVE—SARAH PALIN: ‘IT’S TIME TO IMPEACH’ PRESIDENT OBAMA.

President Obama’s rewarding of lawlessness, including his own, is the foundational problem here. It’s not going to get better, and in fact irreparable harm can be done in this lame-duck term as he continues to make up his own laws as he goes along, and, mark my words, will next meddle in the U.S. Court System with appointments that will forever change the basic interpretation of our Constitution’s role in protecting our rights.

It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment.

The many impeachable offenses of Barack Obama can no longer be ignored. If after all this he’s not impeachable, then no one is.

You said it, Sarah.

And take a wild guess what’s going on in the comment section.

Palin, it is a little late for impeachment. He needs to be arrested and placed in solitary confinement for the rest of his pathetic life.

[…]

MILITARY COUP FOR OBAMA AND CONGRESS

[…]

We loathe your gay existence, Soetoro

[…]

After the Communist Child-in-Chief is finished destroying as much of this nation as he can… We are going to need someone with true intelligence, good judgement, and who knows how to clean up behind messy children!

In Other Words… America Needs Sarah Palin as our Next President!!!

[…]

Only if “to impeach” means “to permanently separate the head from the body”.

[…]

Once he’s useless to them they will kill him and try to blame us!

[…]

It IS WAYYY PAST IMPEACHMENT TIME AND WAYYY MORE LIKE…. TREASON TRIAL! GFY BATHHOUSE BARRY!

[…]

Well I agree that the kenyan should be impeached. He should have been impeached a long time ago, but for the most glaring, obvious, elephant in the room, because he is not constitutionally eligible to be president in the first place. He’s a fraud, and his rightful place is prison.

[…]

The time for impeachment is LONG over due. This is more. This is worse. This is TREASON. The individual in the White House needs to be arrested, tried, convicted, and hung from the neck until dead when found guilty. He is evil. Stop him before he finds reason to declare martial law and turn this Republic into an Empire or Kingdom and remove all legal recourse. If we wait, I will see some of you in the internment camp on the way to the showers….

On and on it goes, more than 4000 comments like these boiling with hatred, racism and conspiracy theories. Also known as the Breitbart “News” business model.

SARAH PALIN SHOULD RUN FOR PRESIDENT OR BE ON THE VIEW, EITHER ONE WOULD BE FINE

She’s right. I mean I can’t think of anything less American than these poor, tired, huddled masses streaming across our borders and being all brown and stuff.

3 Kragar  Jul 8, 2014 11:12:37am

To be fair, she probably expected him to have quit by now.

Its what she would have done.

Enough is enough of the years of abuse from this president. His unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, “no mas.”

The infamous ‘no mas’ was uttered by a professional boxer, not a domestic violence victim.

Context. What is it good for? Nothin!

How dare he meddle in the court system by appointing judges and things like that… Who does he think he is, the President or something????/

President Obama’s rewarding of lawlessness, including his own, is the foundational problem here.

Oh noes, Obama is rewarding his own lawlessness! Does that mean he lets himself eat between meals after every lawlessness? Does he give himself a job promotion after every lawlessness?

Obligatory, and as on-point as ever:

Area Man Passionate Defender Of What He Imagines Constitution To Be

ESCONDIDO, CA—Spurred by an administration he believes to be guilty of numerous transgressions, self-described American patriot Kyle Mortensen, 47, is a vehement defender of ideas he seems to think are enshrined in the U.S. Constitution and principles that brave men have fought and died for solely in his head.

“Our very way of life is under siege,” said Mortensen, whose understanding of the Constitution derives not from a close reading of the document but from talk-show pundits, books by television personalities, and the limitless expanse of his own colorful imagination. “It’s time for true Americans to stand up and protect the values that make us who we are.”

According to Mortensen—an otherwise mild-mannered husband, father, and small-business owner—the most serious threat to his fanciful version of the 222-year-old Constitution is the attempt by far-left “traitors” to strip it of its religious foundation.

“Right there in the preamble, the authors make their priorities clear: ‘one nation under God,’” said Mortensen, attributing to the Constitution a line from the Pledge of Allegiance, which itself did not include any reference to a deity until 1954. “Well, there’s a reason they put that right at the top.”

The funny thing is that with Palin I don’t even get the vibe that she believes in what she says. With most other wingnuts this is not so - they really are coocoo all the way. Palin, on the other hand, seems to simply cynically give other wingnuts what they want - kind of like Ann Coulter (only dumber).

I think it’s an apocryphal tale about Rasputin, but there’s a story that he indeed placed a curse on the Romanov family as he was dying that all of them would be dead within a year. That’s certainly part of Rasputin’s legend in folklore.

Democrats Draft Bill to Override Contraception Ruling

nytimes.com

WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats said Tuesday that they had developed legislation to override the Supreme Court decision on contraceptives. The bill would ensure that women have access to coverage for birth control even if they work for businesses that have religious objections.

(snip)

“House Democrats are developing a companion bill. But the legislation faces long odds in the House, which is controlled by Republicans. Speaker John A. Boehner described the Hobby Lobby decision last week as “a victory for religious freedom.”

(snip)

The First Amendment also protects religious liberties, but the Supreme Court decision was based on the justices’ reading of an act of Congress, not the Constitution, so lawmakers said that Congress could change the law. (my emphasis)

Stay safe. I’ve got a cousin near Jerusalem, and it’s worrisome to hear about barrage after barrage being fired into Israel from Gaza. Hamas leaders must realize that they’ve got nothing left to lose by sitting on their cache of weapons, so they’re going to use them or lose them against an IDF that’s likely learned the lessons of Cast Lead and the July War against Hizbullah.

And the fact is that this isn’t a rescue or disarming mission for Israel, not anyone. This is a blood hunt, and unless Hamas wants to surrender any of the men who had a role in the kidnapping and killing of those teenage boys that is currently has in its territory, then its just going to be very hard on Hamas.

Netanyahu has to show he can keep Israelis safe, and right now that means Hamas is in for a beat-down. They know it, so they’re firing the rockets while they still have them.

re: #101 Ace-o-aces

Israel’s got Iron Dome in place for point protection of main Israeli population centers, plus those rockets are essentially unguided. They’re point and shoot (pray and shoot). Their guidance system is essentially the rails that are used to prop up the missiles for firing. If you know the range of the missile, you can approximate where the volley will land, but with a huge CEP.

It’s not like they’ve got inertial guidance systems and GPS aiming/targeting data to use. If they did, they certainly would have more success in hitting Israeli civilians. Moreover, Israelis are accustomed (at least closer to Gaza) to dealing with air raid warnings and the need to take shelter. Southern Israel is dotted with those kinds of shelters. Heck, Israel built indoor playgrounds for Israeli kids in towns like Sderot to make it safer for them to play and avoid being caught in the open where you’ve got all of 15 seconds to get to shelter.

Their rockets are inaccurate and most of the ones liable to do real damage are shot down by Iron Dome.

The timing actually works in Israel’s favor, since Iran has focused on aiding Assad in Syria and currently with Iraq. Hezbollah is similarly engaged in Syria, and not ready to launch a fight with Israel.

Yeah, I also suspect Hamas is just going to launch everything it has as fast as possible to get rid of their missiles before the IDF destroys them. Hopefully Hamas will run out of rockets and IDF will run out of targets in a few weeks. Hopefully this will be short but it will just happen again in another year or two.

They aren’t intended to change things substantially. There’s not really anything Israel can do to substantially change the situation in Gaza that would not involve massive Palestinian casualties (which I am not advocating, to be clear).

There’s no breakthrough likely anytime soon. All Israel can do is to guard itself, with occasional incursions and bombardments when Hamas gets too bold or too strong.

The sirens operate in Israel, but if there are Palestinian towns adjacent/within earshot, they’re going to hear the Israeli warnings (Bethlehem will hear the sirens from Jerusalem for example). I don’t think the Palestinian civil defense (via the PA) has installed warning sirens.

Also, there’s no warnings when Palestinian rockets fall short and land inside Gaza itself (hitting fellow Palestinians in the process).

There are some bomb shelters in Palestinian controlled areas (both West Bank and Gaza) and some of those may date back to the 1940s/1950s, and others are probably leftovers from when Israel was in control of Gaza (though Hamas has built a multitude of tunnels for smuggling and protecting its own cache of weapons and key forces). Civilians are pretty much screwed in Gaza and have to hope for the best.

It’s largely up to the towns and individuals to build bomb shelters.

In Israel’s Sderot, it was foreign assistance that helped build some of the bomb shelters there. Israeli civil defense built some other shelters, and the Israeli authorities instructions are to get to the interior safe spots in a home.

There’s a name for the warning: Roof knocking

Roof knocking is the practice of warning inhabitants of a building before it is bombed to give the inhabitants time to flee the attack.[1] The practice has been used by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) before attacking buildings that they suspect contain weapons.[2][3][4] The term “roof knocking” (Hebrew: הקש בגג[5]) or “a knock on the roof” has also been used to describe the IDF practice of firing a non-explosive missile at a roof to get people there to leave.[6][7] As early as 2006 the IDF had the practice of warning the inhabitants of a building that was about to be attacked.[8]

re: #108 CuriousLurker

The answer for both is really “Kinda”. They can alert to the presence/arrival of forces (and the IDF often warns civilians in advance to get them to vacate areas), but they don’t have something sophisticated such as a siren system for alerting to missile launches like Israel has (which was built out of necessity due to having to sustain projectile fire for many years).
While there are shelters as well, it’s probably nowhere near an even distribution among the population and probably available the most to those in power and those who are rich. As usual, money and/or various ties play a part, and again it’s probably nowhere near the scope of what Israel has established over the years (where all apartment buildings are required by law to have a shelter and there are public shelter areas in every city).

Israel has to do something to try to stop this barrage of rockets, yes. But “beat downs” aren’t going to change anything. Everything will be right back to the status quo very shortly.

Worst case scenario is we’ll get a repeat of Cast Lead. Israel will trade volleys with Hamas for a few weeks, Israel will kill a bunch of Hamas operatives and some civilians. Hamas will claim Israel engaged in genocide; the media will inevitably report the claims as true, and weeks later the reality will be that 80%+ of those killed were Hamas operatives. Greenwald will call for war crimes against Israel, even though every country has a right to defend itself from terrorism and armed attacks (Russia wouldn’t stop at a Cast Lead type operation, but go for the Hama rules flatten the territory and claim they were invited in by rebel forces to liberate them from foreign operatives).

Cast Lead bought a couple years of quiet (mostly while Hamas rebuilt its inventory of rockets/missiles).

Now, Hamas has longer range rockets and missiles, that while they aren’t guided, are posing a threat to the heart of Israel’s population centers. That’s going to require the Israeli government to respond.

But how do you respond against an entrenched enemy that cowers and hides behind civilians with the intention of maximizing civilian casualties. That’s the dilemma that Israel faces once again.

It will be interesting to see if the midterm elections go as predicted. The GOP would then have the majority they need in the Senate to seal a conviction on whatever trumped-up charges the House brings.

Which wouldn’t be enough for the commenters having the hate-gasms shown above, of course. A conviction vote requires 2/3 of the Senate, i.e. 67 votes. No matter how well the election goes for them in November, the GOP is in no danger of securing 67 seats. Even in the best case scenario, they might win 53-54 seats, but that still leaves them trying to convince 13 Democrats to join them in convicting the first black president on trumped-up charges.

I don’t know about designated bomb shelters but people usually congregate at hospitals and UN buildings/schools as safe zones.

One notorious event during Cast Lead involved terrorists firing from a position adjacent to a UN building/school, and the IAF/IDF fired on the position. Israeli gun camera footage caught the incident, but not before the Palestinians claimed that the Israelis fired on civilians at a school.

Also, many buildings in Israel are built out of reinforced concrete. Israeli building codes have been revised to require safe rooms in new construction. Older structures would require retrofitting.

Private houses are required to have safe rooms (designated “Mamad”/ממ”ד, which is short for ‘Residential Safe Space’ in Hebrew), and construction nowadays will not be approved without one.
For apartment buildings, an underground shelter is required, though those are often in a really crummy state.

If the GOP gets control of the Senate this year, I think a doomed impeachment attempt is inevitable. The GOP is like the scorpion in the old tale of the Scorpion and the Frog, and certain kinds of self-defeating stupidity are simply unavoidable.

Step 1) IMPEACHMENT!

Step 2) ….

Step 3) Majority!

re: #138 Khal Wimpo

It will be interesting to see if the midterm elections go as predicted. The GOP would then have the majority they need in the Senate to seal a conviction on whatever trumped-up charges the House brings.

Which wouldn’t be enough for the commenters having the hate-gasms shown above, of course. Nothing will do but an old-school lynching, just the way they all fantasize about doing (viz: the “separate the head from the body” type comments). Still, impeachment would completely sidetrack the government for a couple of years, and probably blow up the economy again, but the ratings for Fox and Limbaugh would be through the roof!

Actually you need 67 votes in the Senate to convict the President.

Hamas claims that they’ve hit Israel with a bunch of Grad missiles, and 4 of the larger M-75s.

That latter missile is claimed to be home-grown, but until we see remnants of the missiles in IDF hands, it’s more likely that they’re actually variants of the Iranian Fajr-5 (or are Fajr-5). And if that’s the case, then it’s once again exposing Iran’s involvement in exporting terror and mayhem to gloss over its own failings domestically (and to try and regain some of the luster as ISIS gives Assad a pounding and hits at Shi’a across Iraq).

You say “the Palestinians” made a claim—which Palestinians ? The terrorists? The authorities? Civilians?

I can see terrorists being assholes & lying. I can see politicians & other corrupt authority figures doing it, but I have a hard time believing that every single Palestinian civilian is totally cool with themselves and their families being used as cover for terrorists and possibly becoming “collateral damage”.

A closer analogy may be Gaza as an urban Cu Chi. Hamas has dug in and built all kinds of tunnels and bunkers (along the lines of what Hizbullah did in Southern Lebanon). A ground operation against Gaza would mean facing a significant military force hiding behind civilians and firing from entrenched positions where civilian casualties are maximized for effect. Not only would those civilians be in harm’s way from Israeli actions, but Hamas has shown a willingness to kill Palestinians for the cause (missiles falling short, wildly firing, and purposefully killing those it suspects of being collaborators).

Speaking of Iraq, the Russians have been busy:

Iraq receives first Mi-28NE attack helos alongside additional Mi-35Ms

Iraq has taken delivery of its first batch of Mil Mi-28NE ‘Havoc’ (Night Hunter) attack helicopters, as well as additional Mil Mi-35M ‘Hind’ assault helicopters, Russian state media announced on 2 July.

The first three Mi-28NE helicopters and four new Mi-35M helicopters arrived in-country aboard Antonov An-124 ‘Condor’ transport aircraft, a military-diplomatic source reportedly told the ITAR-TASS news agency.

The report continued that all the helicopters had been delivered in a combat configuration, and were fully night-vision capable. According to Rostvertol figures recently seen by IHS Jane’s , the Iraqi Army Aviation Command, which is part of the Iraqi Army and operates all the country’s military helicopters, is set to receive a final total of 15 Mi-28NEs and 28 Mi-35Ms. Four of the latter are already in service.

The Mi-28N/Mi-28NE is an all-weather day-and-night anti-armour and anti-personnel attack platform that has only recently entered service with the Russian armed forces.

The night combat capability is quite important, as it means the ‘Islamic State’ will find its ability to make large scale movements at night greatly curtailed.

Palestinian response

Fauzi Barhoun, a Hamas spokesman, said allegations that militants had used the school to attack Israeli forces were baseless.[16] Abdel Minaim Hasan who lost his eldest daughter, Lina, 11, wept by her body wrapped in a Hamas flag. The New York Times reported that he cried out: “From now on I am Hamas! … I choose resistance!” He also cursed the Arab nation, shouting, “The Arabs are doing nothing to protect us!”[20] Huda Deed who lost nine members of her extended family, ages 3 to 25, was also weeping and standing before the bodies of the dead remarked, “Look, they’ve lined them up like a ruler!” When asked for an interview by Al-Aqsa TV, the Hamas channel, she refused.[20] Mushir al-Masri, a senior Hamas official who emerged from hiding to attend the funeral, commended the dead and called them martyrs. According to the New York Times, some parents greeted him by shaking his hand while others stared at him coldly.[20]

Civilian opinion was a bit mixed but there’s no telling what people really think. They do live under the rule of a terrorist organization and tolerance for dissent is limited.

My point exactly. The thing is, all I ever hear is “the Palestinians”, like they’re just one big indistinguishable group and it leaves a negative impression about all of them. Even the Wiki page you linked to uses the heading “Palestinian response” instead of “Hamas response”, which would have been more accurate, IMO.

As for the words of the man who lost his 11-year-old daughter and the woman who lost 9 members of her extended family, I wouldn’t consider whatever they said in their grief & anger to be anything other than exactly that—words uttered in the fog of grief & anger.

Israel has to do something to try to stop this barrage of rockets, yes. But “beat downs” aren’t going to change anything. Everything will be right back to the status quo very shortly.

Especially since, from my understanding, such ‘beat downs’ kill more bystanders then Hamas operatives all it does is embitter a lot of Palestinians and swell Hamas’s ranks in addition to gaining more financial support from those inside and outside Gaza.

A little bit of commentary from an edition of Sun Tzu’s Art of War that I believe is germane.

To further strengthen his people’s resolve, General Tian Di sent spies into the camp of the Yan army to spread rumors that the people of the city would definitely surrender in fear if only the Yan soldiers were to “cut off the noses” of any captured Qi soldiers and also “dig up the graves of buried Qi ancestors”.

The new Yan army general fell for these lies and ordered his soldiers to do these exact things. As General Tian Di anticipated, these actions of savagery and desecration of the tombs so infuriated his troops and the residents of the city that they resolved to fight on at all costs.

You’re probably right about the first part. As for shelters, if they do have them I find it odd that I never hear about them.

I think part of that is how does Israel verify that a constructed bunker/shelter is for civilians to hide in or militants to store weapons and explosives in?

I guess the local government could put appropriate signs up and tell Israel the location of the civilian shelters. But that starts to go out the window once that right is abused.

271 Dr Lizardo  Jul 8, 2014 1:58:07pm

The Czech commentators are discussing it on CTSport, and they’re all genuinely surprised; their consensus is that thus far, Team Brazil seems to have disintegrated. Timely that the subject of “roof knocking” (AKA Israeli warning calls) came up earlier.
Horrifying Photos and Videos Capture the Crisis Currently Raging in Gaza

Harrowing details are also emerging: A strike on the house of the Kaware family, living in the South of Gaza, left at least seven people dead. Reports suggest that in an attempt to protect the house from attack, a crowd had gathered on the roof in protest, after Israeli authorities warned that the house would be targeted.

Once again we see Hamas using the Israeli warnings to deploy civilian human shields.

The ESPN commentators are completely stunned. They’ve all said that it’s now more obvious than ever that Brazil put all their stock in Neymar and that losing him exposed their weakness as a side. The Germans are exploiting those weaknesses ruthlessly.

NYT: By Phone and Leaflet, Israeli Attackers Warn Gazans

The call came to the cellphone of his brother’s wife, Salah Kaware said on Tuesday. Mr. Kaware lives in Khan Younis, in southeast Gaza, and the caller said that everyone in the house must leave in five minutes, because it was going to be bombed.

A further warning came as they were leaving, he said in a telephone interview, when an Israeli drone apparently fired a flare at the roof of the three-story home. “Our neighbors came in to form a human shield,” he said, with some even going to the roof to try to prevent a bombing. Others were in the stairway when the house was bombed not long afterward.

Seven people died, Mr. Kaware said, a figure also stated by the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza, which also said that 25 people were wounded.

If I may brag (and I will), I had a whole different experience with my Rep. last summer. Along with a few of his friends, the wife and i were invited by Rep. Raul Grijalva of Arizona (a great guy btw) to the National Democratic Club in D.C. and at one point Raul said to someone standing behind me, “Jerry, here are two of your constituents,” and it was our representative, Jerry Nadler, who sat down and shot the bull (politically and otherwise), joked and drank with us for at least a couple of hours (did I mention that they have a great bar?). I guess the local government could put appropriate signs up and tell Israel the location of the civilian shelters. But that starts to go out the window once that right is abused.

Warning: Rant ahead, so maybe tl;dr

Soooo… what then? Too bad, they just have to die? I get so frustrated with this stuff. For example this—Gaza conflict: Who is a civilian?—WTF? Granted the article is 5 years old and things may have changed since then (hopefully for the better, but somehow I doubt it.)

Honestly, it has to stop. This fight has been going on for ages and no one is winning. Short of committing genocide, neither side is ever going to win. The Israelis aren’t going to leave. The Palestinians aren’t going to leave. They need to figure this shit out.

Even if someone wants to say, “Okay the Palestinians do x, y, and z and are therefore more at fault than the Israelis.” Okay, so what? So Israeli Jews have been around for thousands of years, and the many diaspora Jews who live in Israel now have survived & thrived all over the world, created & discovered things in many fields, and they’re very proud of talking about how they made the desert bloom—great, wonderful, good for you!—so why in the hell can’t you solve this problem with your Arab neighbors? There has to be some kind of compromise. You get what compromise means, right? It means NO ONE is going to get everything they want.

GAH, I hate this situation. It’s like it’s at the point now where there’s so much water under the bridge, so much hate & distrust on both sides that… as I said, GAH, I just hate it.

Both communities could and should be growing & prospering, yet they just keep killing & pointing fingers at each other. It’s like they’re under a spell that makes them stay stuck in a macabre, endless death dance that will eventually destroy them both (if not physically, then spiritually/morally).

Okay, sorry for unloading on you. I’m gonna stop ranting now and go back to my coding. At least those problems are solvable. *SIGH*

A few years ago I read book, the title of which alas escapes me at the moment, that delved into how evangelicals don’t really read the bible much anymore — they read “guides,” which are slanted to their particular denomination’s political and cultural bias. Xtian publishers have wised up to the fact that the bible is hard to understand and that anyway their readers prefer to read only what confirms their biases, and for the publishers at least it’s paid off big time.
