Bombshell News! NSA Admits They Have Snowden’s Emails! Uh… But…

Huge
US News • Views: 29,101

Retweeted by Glenn Greenwald a few minutes ago, some breaking bombshell news about Edward Snowden!

Wow, you mean they actually do have emails from Snowden contacting his superiors to “blow the whistle” on privacy abuses by the NSA, but they’re hiding them? This is HUGE, people!

But, uh… here’s the actual FOIA response:

Scribd

Scroll down to the last sentence, and you’ll find:

“For your information, there are no emails indicating that Mr. Snowden contacted agency officials to raise concerns about NSA programs.”

Oh. Never mind!

Meanwhile, please note that the Freedom of Information Act was not intended to be used to reveal every single email of a government employee. It’s supposed to be a targeted request for specific information, not a fishing expedition.

UPDATE at 7/11/14 4:51:41 pm by Charles Johnson

Matthew Keys has now sent me several tweets, very upset that I didn’t include the link to his site where he does mention the response from the NSA; so here it is, buried at the end of the fifth paragraph: NSA Says Snowden E-Mails Exempt From Public Disclosure.

The Desk’s original FOIA request was for “and and all e-mails sent by Edward Snowden using the e-mail address ejsnowd@nsa.ic.gov to any and all NSA officials, including officials at the Office of General Counsel, for the time period between January 1, 2013 and June 1, 2013.” Though the request did not specify records related to Snowden’s claim that he raised concerns about the legality clandestine NSA surveillance programs, Phillips wrote that “there are no e-mails indicating that Mr. Snowden contacted agency officials to raise concerns about NSA programs.”

OF COURSE THEY ARE LYING

Seriously, though, did they think they were going to get the emails of someone with that level of clearance? California’s FOIA-type statute does allow fishing expeditions, but even then things are withheld all the time for a variety of reasons, including law enforcement records.

Well of course that what the NSA is going to tell you.

If only Snowden had had a man on the inside who could have made copies of those emails before the story broke.

14 Minor_L  Jul 11, 2014 2:23:20pm

One of the responses is something like, “first they had only one email from him and now they have all of them?”, but wasn’t the original email a response to a more targeted question about his contacts with the general counsel’s office or something like that?

I don’t think anyone thought or believed that the NSA didn’t have other emails belonging to Snowden from his time there. I would imagine most employees/contractors have thousands and thousands of emails sitting around on servers even after they leave those jobs.

I’ve been doing some data-churning on Muslims and Hispanic Catholics, and found in both groups a strong belief that homosexuality is wrong, but a much stronger belief that the government shouldn’t be the enforcer of such moral codes. Evangelicals, Mormons, non-Hispanic catholics top the list of those who think the government should legislate morality in that way.

Emails have two components. The email that is sent, and the email copy that is retained by the sender (sent email).

If Snowden ever sent any whistleblowing emails, he would have his sent copy.

He’s never acknowledged any such thing - only claimed that he did so without any evidence.

The NSA has now stated twice that they never received a whistleblowing email from Snowden. Once as part of this FOIA, and once earlier this year when the IG found no such email existed.

In both instances, Greenwald claimed that Snowden still sent these emails - with no actual proof.

Where are Snowden’s own copies of the emails he sent. He stole a boatload of emails, but somehow left off the ones that would “support” his “case”? I find that… highly implausible. In fact, I find that it doesn’t pass the smell test. IOW, Snowden’s a snow job of BS proportions.

Where Matthew Keys keeps on fucking that chicken. No, you don’t have to give him clicks—I cut and pasted it.

thedesk.matthewkeys.net

“But the NSA walked back this claim after an NBC News broadcast in May in which Snowden asserted the agency had e-mail records in which he repeatedly raised concerns about secret spy programs. Shortly after the interview was broadcast, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence de-classified one e-mail record in which Snowden writes to a superior with a question about legal authorities.

“That e-mail, the NSA claimed, proved that Snowden did not act as a whistleblower. The agency clarified its position to say it had no records of Snowden raising direct concerns about the legality of NSA spy programs, something Snowden has refuted.”

Just because Snowden lies doesn’t mean everyone else does.

Youtube Video

A very slick video, explaining that those who want Putin to send in the troops are playing on America’s side. You see, it’s not the real patriots [like, most of them] who wish that Putin did this, no - it’s the US, because this would cause a world war and thereby somehow annul the US debt.

The conspirology in the video is likely to decrease your IQ by a few points [or would be, if you knew Russian], but the main thrust of the video is interesting - it’s already been more or less clear that Putin won’t do this, but videos such as this confirm the hypothesis.

Barry Freidman interprets Peggy Noonan’s lastest drunken splosh over at the WSJ.

“Who weeps for the children? Who weeps for me?

We both yearn, breathe, desire for more—to be touched, held, caressed. Alas, though, this president puts his index finger in our chests, our breasts, a thumb in our eyes, throws the coldest of water on our dreams and yearnings and wants and needs. I remember a man who didn’t, a man who lifted us up, grabbed us by the hand, let us feel his bicep, and carried us to—if not a promised land—but a better one. It was morning, there was a hill. (I am drunk right now; it all I remember of it) His name, ah, his name. He needed more than one, that man with America coursing in his veins. “We are all God’s children,” he once told me late at night, over warm milk, while we waited for Nancy to put him to bed, “but we are not all America’s children.” I thought, “Hmmm, yes.”

Yes, the children hold hands in agony, staring blankly, wondering why they have come to this America, this America of this man who so many doubt, rather than an America that so many loved, an America of broad shoulders and calves and verve.

Oh, I how yearn for the verve.

The poor kids dance in my head, the little brown kids from the south. I would dance with all of them. And laugh. And we would be gay.

The America I remember was strong, but not cold.
This president is cold, but not strong.

This president plays chess; Reagan played checkers.

A child’s game

Perhaps that is why they weep.

It is why I do.”—P. Noonan

How Peggy starts it.

There is every sign he let the crisis on the border build to put heat on Republicans and make them pass his idea of good immigration reform. It would be “comprehensive,” meaning huge, impenetrable and probably full of mischief. His base wants it. It would no doubt benefit the Democratic Party in the long term. The little children in great danger, holding hands, staring blankly ahead, are pawns in a larger game. That game is run by adults. How cold do you have to be to use children in this way?

BTW, Peggy’s old boss St. Ronald Reagan had an immigration reform plan, too. Here’s part of it.

In 1981 this administration asked the Congress to pass a comprehensive legislative package, including employer sanctions, other measures to increase enforcement of the immigration laws, and legalization. The act provides these three essential components. The employer sanctions program is the keystone and major element. It will remove the incentive for illegal immigration by eliminating the job opportunities which draw illegal aliens here. We have consistently supported a legalization program which is both generous to the alien and fair to the countless thousands of people throughout the world who seek legally to come to America.

There’s that word “comprehensive” caused Peggy to get the vapors above, and “legalization”, too, but those were better times, when St. Ronald walked the earth and Peggy Noonan was young.

Who’s ready for an Islamist Turkey?
Turkey PM Erdogan to push for a new constitution

Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan has pledged to push for a new constitution if he is elected president.

Such a move would enable Mr Erdogan to attach more powers to the presidency, which is largely a ceremonial role.

Most analysts expect him comfortably to triumph in the 10 August elections.

Mr Erdogan has been prime minister since 2003 but is barred from seeking a new term. Critics say he has become more authoritarian in the midst of corruption allegations.

Opponents suspect him of undermining the strict separation of religion and state, and deplore what they see as abuse of power.

Actually Snowden worked for Dell as a contractor w/the NSA in the US & Japan for 4 years and was ostensibly already stealing files in 2012. So he had experience with it when he contacted Greenwald and Poitras before being hired on with Booz Hamilton to work w/the NSA in Hawaii, if what I’ve been reading is correct. And yes, it is.

reuters.com

WASHINGTON, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden began downloading documents describing the U.S. government’s electronic spying programs while he was working for Dell Inc in April 2012, almost a year earlier than previously reported, according to U.S. officials and other sources familiar with the matter.

“Snowden, who was granted a year’s asylum by Russia on Aug. 1, worked for Dell from 2009 until earlier this year, assigned as a contractor to U.S. National Security Agency facilities in the United States and Japan.

“Snowden downloaded information while employed by Dell about eavesdropping programs run by the NSA and Britain’s Government Communications Headquarters, and left an electronic footprint indicating when he accessed the documents, said the sources, speaking on condition of anonymity.”

Dell’s not talking about it, though.

Just had a long semi-argument with Matthew Keys in which he accused me of ignoring his post at his site (I didn’t - he tweeted numerous times about the story without including the link), then accused me of misinterpreting the post I didn’t see, then ignored my criticism of his misleading headline.

Anyway, I updated above with the link to his site, in which he buries the information about the NSA’s statement at the end of the fifth paragraph.

Apparently one of the latest “outrages” is that soldiers either already on their last deployment to Afghanistan or preparing to go are getting informed that they won’t be needed after the war’s over and they won’t be allowed to reenlist, as the Army’s trimming the number of active soldiers. Or, as one wingnut has already screamed to, “OBAMA’S SENDING OUR SOLDIERS PINK SLIPS!!!”

What really chaps my ass is the GG is doing all this from Brazil, in a gated and probably well-armed community, where an entire class of people (the poor) basically live under authoritarian rule, and GG cares about civil liberties in his country of birth? Not once has GG written or said anything about how swell life is in Rio if you’re poor. ( /, though my sarc should be evident ) GG is a despicable human in my mind right now.

235 teleskiguy  Jul 11, 2014 6:37:16pm

What shouldn’t be left out at LGF about this whole Greensnow NSA thing is that the Greensnow people often paint us as Obamabots slavering over our authoritarian overlords at the NSA, when the argument has always been measured and purely based on facts. We’re all in agreement that there needs to be more oversight in our governments when it comes to things like data-mining, internet surveillance and the like. I’d like to see a lot of the Patriot Act of 2003 scaled back (no one in Congress is talking about the Patriot Act at all, which basically broadened the powers of many agencies - including the NSA - to where we see it today). But we need to have this debate using facts and not conjecture, hyperbole, basically how GG does it.

Here’s a thought for Greensnow people, the government isn’t out to get you. I’d be more scared of Facebook and Google than the NSA. The NSA only wishes they had the data mining technologies those private companies have.

236 Charles Johnson  Jul 11, 2014 6:38:08pm

It really does get wearying to push back against the constant misrepresentations.

I’m really not a huge fan of what the NSA does, and I really do think it’s a good thing that more people are aware of how intrusive these programs have become. And I want to see changes in these programs to make them less intrusive and more effective. The government does need oversight, and the Patriot Act was an ill-advised incursion on the Fourth Amendment.

But damn. The paranoia and distortions and deliberate misrepresentations these people are pushing out there can’t be let stand. Let’s talk about reforming the NSA and the Patriot Act, but let’s not have it be based on bad craziness.

Is this so hard to understand? Damn.

There’s a serious cognitive dissonance with these people. Snowden’s a hero! He’s actually a criminal. He’s safer in Russia! Um, what? He’s like MLK! MLK faced his oppressors with facts and love, Snowden illegally stole secret government documents and fled the country, and in the process screwed up our intelligence community and assuredly endangered lives globally.

And don’t get me started on GG. You can look at my previous comments on this site, GG is a bad person.

I really enjoyed living in Key West back in the day—the weather was great. My cousin retired there, but we’re not close.

My ex was from CA and before we were married, told me he was appalled because a Black shipmate of his was not allowed into a movie theater with him and his mates. They almost had a riot about it, but it was the law in FL; a “whites only” theater.

I had never learned to drive (at 18) and he bought a ‘49 Buick (a tank of the worse kind) and I almost pinned him to a stop sign when he was trying to teach me. I didn’t try again for almost 10 yrs.

Shot placement is everything. Walter Dalrymple Maitland Bell (1880-1954), known as Karamojo Bell, killed 1,011 elephants with a 7mm Mauser bolt action rifle. He knew elephant skull anatomy and made one shot kills.

WTF India?

A 10-year old girl in Bokaro, India was reportedly raped on Tuesday in a nearby forest as most of the members of her village watched, according to multiple international news reports. The rape was ordered by a fear village headman — an unelected, self-appointed tribal leader — in retaliation for her brother’s accused actions of attempted sexual assault of another girl. The accused rapist, who is 25, reportedly is the brother of the girl who was initially the victim of the attempted sexual assault.

None of the villagers who stood by and watched the rape intervened or tried to protect the young girl, except for her mother.

“We kept begging them,” the mother said. “We begged with folded hands but they would not listen. They dragged her away to the forest.”

“A medical test has confirmed that the minor was raped,” NDTV reports. “Her father, a farmer, was out for work when she was dragged out of her home.”

True but I think a lot of people delude themselves into thinking if they just consume the “right” products they are ethically superior to people who consume the “wrong” ones. More often than not it’s just a difference of branding and marketing.

Some people even manage to fool themselves that because a news organization calls itself a ‘factchecker’ that that’s not just a marketing move.

WTF Friday: Perryception

“…Perhaps unhappy to have been taken un-seriously when he had hoped to be taken seriously, Perry donned Terminator sunglasses and body armor and went on a pleasure cruise with Sean Hannity along the Rio Grande. Surely he would be taken seriously here. This was, after all, a boat with machine guns, which are very cool, very serious and very masculine. Here was the solution to the crisis: These rad machine guns could make short work of the teen refugees.
Unfortunately, in much of the reporting, Perry was upstaged by the boat.

You couldn’t invent a more pure example of malignant misogyny and dehumanization, where women are just property and sacrificial pawns of male politics. What’s amazing is they’d have to look upwards to rise to the barbaric level of castrating or killing the accused perpetrator, instead the apparent logical thing was to find a related female proxy and make her the scape goat for his offense.

Militias move forward on Texas border, leader’s background emerges

The Texas militia, known as “Operation Secure Our Border,” is being led by Chris Davis, a 37-year-old truck driver who was discharged from the Army in 2001 “under other than honorable conditions in lieu of trial by court martial,” according to a summary of Davis’ military service obtained by the San Antonio Express-News.
….snip….
Davis [has] deleted his Facebook and YouTube accounts, including a 21-minute video in which he describes plans for “securing the border:” “How?” he asked on the video. “You see an illegal. You point your gun dead at him, right between his eyes, and you say, ‘Get back across the border or you will be shot.’ “

re: #353 wheat-dogghazi

There are now, as long as he’s a defendant actually pending trial for murder.

The thing that should have been considered before the shooting was whether he should have been given a ccw in the first place. There are posters here who assert that retired cops should automatically be considered as having good standing, but there are many documented cases of cops and retired cops murdering people.

Retired Jersey City cop charged with attempted murder in bar shooting

Cañon City police “shocked” at murder-suicide

Retired Long Island cop kills wife and lives with body in upstate NY home: authorities

Off-Duty Calif. Cop Charged With Murder After Allegedly Shooting Bar Patron Over Darts Comments

Just stopping here because the list goes on and on. All but one of these examples is from the last year, that oldest less than three years ago. The idea that retired cops are somehow automatically responsible enough to carry firearms in public, or even own firearms at all is simply insane.

And what’s really weird is that we have people, here, who think retired cops should automatically have good cause to carry in public but somehow don’t think on duty cops should be able to demand that people visibly carrying guns produce a carry permit for their firearms without having other legal cause to detain and question them. Because police routinely abuse their authority or something, nevermind the cognitive dissonance inherent in that. Also rights and stuff, plus that’s how it works with cars - nevermind that cars have externally visible plates than can be read and checked at a distance.

357 wheat-dogghazi  Jul 12, 2014 12:13:40am

re: #356 goddamnedfrank

The argument I’d offer against allowing retired cops to automatically retain their service weapons involves training and practice. Sure, police officers are trained to use their weapons safely and professionally, but while they are on active duty, they have to keep their skills sharp. Once an officer is retired, there are no guarantees he or she continues to practice the proper use of their sidearms.

Also, there is no longer monitoring by partners, superiors or Internal Affairs, either. A cop with serious anger management problems is eventually identified on the force and (hopefully) dealt with. A retired cop with serious anger management problems may not have such a support network.

That said, probably 90% of LEOs are sensible and reliable people, before and after retirement. It’s that 10% (or whatever — pulling numbers from the air here) that present a danger to the public.

There’s also the fact that while he pulled the trigger it was our fucked up laws and gun culture that made it so easy for him to procure firearms after having been arrested and given a plea deal on previous domestic violence charges. Texas will almost certainly pursue the death penalty, if for no other reason than to reinforce denial in our society’s culpability in such crimes.

The LDS Church issues the next one in its series of “Mormon problems” essays, this one is about Translation and Historicity of the Book of Abraham.

Their conclusion:

The veracity and value of the book of Abraham cannot be settled by scholarly debate concerning the book’s translation and historicity. The book’s status as scripture lies in the eternal truths it teaches and the powerful spirit it conveys. The book of Abraham imparts profound truths about the nature of God, His relationship to us as His children, and the purpose of this mortal life. The truth of the book of Abraham is ultimately found through careful study of its teachings, sincere prayer, and the confirmation of the Spirit.

On topic: The Snowden supporters will just claim the NSA is lying. Even if the NSA showed a bunch of emails from Snowden, they’d say they’re lying.

I’m late to the party, but this is why it’s going to be impossible to have a reasonable debate with the Snowdenistas: their default position appears 1) the NSA wants to know what everyone, everywhere is doing at all times and 2) they will always lie, cheat, and steal to prevent anyone from stopping them.

No amount of evidence to the contrary will ever convince them and no proposed reforms will ever satisfy them because of point 2. I don’t even think completely dismantling the NSA would make them happy; it wouldn’t take much to convince them that whatever agency is created to replace them is just a front for Business As Usual, thanks to point 2.

Pro tip: If point 2 is a legitimate, significant part of your argument then you don’t have a serious argument.

Or will the day just naturally cause an eruption of craziness and create a new one?

By the way…did you all catch the video of Haskel fainting in court and then the interview with his lawyer? Looks like they are already setting up an out-of-his-mind, or mental issues defense. Here is the YouTube.

VOCABULARY WORD OF THE DAY:

An argot (English pronunciation: /ˈɑrɡoʊ/; from French argot [aʁˈɡo] ‘slang’) is a secret language used by various groups — e.g. schoolmates, outlaws, colleagues, among many others — to prevent outsiders from understanding their conversations. The term argot is also used to refer to the informal specialized vocabulary from a particular field of study, occupation, or hobby, in which sense it overlaps with jargon.

The author Victor Hugo was one of the first to research argot extensively.[1] He describes it in his 1862 novel Les Misérables as the language of the dark; at one point, he says, “What is argot; properly speaking? Argot is the language of misery.”

The earliest known record of argot was in a 1628 document. The word was probably derived from the contemporary name, les argotiers, given to a group of thieves at that time.[2]

Such bullshit. This guy went to the house, tied everybody up as they came in, then asked everyone where his ex-wife was. When they didn’t tell him, he executed each of them with a bullet to the head. The only reason the 15 yr old survived is because she put her hand up to her head and deflected the bullet somewhat (lost a finger in the process).

This guy is scared because he’s facing the death penalty, that’s all, and his acts may have been committed in the “heat of the moment”, and even that is doubtful, considering the planning that obviously went into what he did, but that won’t hold up to an insanity defense by any means. He’s not insane, he’s just another ex driven by rage and his own actions resulting in the marriage breakup.

This openness to American literature is general across Europe. Go into any European bookshop and you find 50 per cent to 70 per cent of novels are translations, the vast majority from English, above all American English. Since the 1960s European readers have grown used to reading fiction set in a society quite distant from their own. So constant is the presence of Americana in their lives that no mediation is required beyond the act of translation. Jonathan Franzen can pack his descriptions with every kind of American paraphernalia - mechanised recliners, air-hockey tables, refrigerated beer kegs - and still be widely read.

Reporter flies into the Rio Grande Valley, is shocked to find that immigration checkpoints exist away from the border:

I’m finding it hard to muster up sympathy, even if the reporter is undocumented. Basic research would have told him that all along south Texas there are immigration checkpoints that aren’t on the immediate border.

The last time I rode a bus from the RGV back up to Austin, the Border Patrol emptied that bus at a chekpoint well over 100 miles away from the border. They had each person claim their baggage outside the bus while a drug dog walked through the crowd and agents got ID from every single person on board, including the driver. While that was going on, another drug dog went on the bus and sniffed around there too. Immigration checkpoints are a way of life down in the Valley. You expect them, so you’re always ready. re: #451 Fairly Sure I’m Still Obdicut

I have Ehlers-Danlos too, but I’m lucky enough to have a very mild version of (just cigarette-paper skin around joints, hyperflexibility without dislocating stuff). However, it does mean I can injure myself in my sleep, which I did a few weeks ago: it’s taking me a long time to heal. I pinched a nerve really bad.

Ice is the only thing that calms down my nerve when that happens. Ice, Ibuprophen and sweet sleep.

Because in those tweets he says those warehouse contain aid for Palestinians and the impact could be significant.

Yup, looking into the center for disabled children.

Iranian Press TV is reporting 2 girls killed. I haven’t seen any Israeli explanation yet. Since the Israelis have hit it twice now I think it’s a safe bet the targeting is intentional.

Yup, looking into the center for disabled children.

It’s not ‘for children’ despite, say, Mondoweiss calling it that.

There are only four national centres in the field of physical disability that serve the Palestinian population in Palestine: The Jerusalem Princess Basma Centre for Disabled Children, which serves the disabled children from the central and northern parts of the West Bank; Abu Raya Rehabilitation Center, which serves the adults from the central and northern parts of the West Bank and children with spina bifida; the Bethlehem Arab Society, which serves the disabled population of the southern parts of the West Bank; Al-Wafa Rehabilitation Center in Gaza, which serves the disabled population of the Gaza Strip.

NYT: As Israel Hits Mosque and Clinic, Air Campaign’s Risks Come Home

The bombing of the center, the Mabaret Palestine Society here in northern Gaza, occurred just before dawn, when a missile crashed through the roof and exploded. Because it was the weekend, only five of the 19 severely handicapped residents were in residence, while the rest were with their families, said Jamila Elaiwa, who founded the center 20 years ago.

She spoke at Al Shifa hospital’s burn unit, while she was visiting the wounded, including Mai Hamada, 30, and Salwa Abu al-Qomssan, 53, the caretaker, both of them with severe burns, while two more patients were in intensive care. The dead were named as Ula Wisha, 31, and Suha Abusada, 39, whose family said had been born severely handicapped and unable to speak.

Had to unfollow a FB friend of astringent wit and biting liberal repartee who goes batshit insane WRT Israel/Palestine. Essentially, Palestinians are savages, Israel can do no wrong, and the media and critics of Israel are anti-Semites. Posts videos of Palestinian savagery, because Palestinians are savages, etc.

He has delivered many a glorious Red State rants, but alas, has said ‘the Right gets it with Israel’ and is chummy with the Fox News crowd now that body counts are rising.

And the cycle continues.

Well… foo.

Last night my iPhone 3gs died. As in, I’m typing a search into safari & it shuts off and won’t come back on. Plug it in? Nope. Hard reset? Nope. Battery toast? Probably. :headbang:

The local Novado office has a Sony Xperia T (LT30p) on close out for 50% off that I may try to scrounge the money for as a replacement. Android, 13 megapixel camera with zoom, & so on. Anyone with any experience with the model?

You can also buy used iPhones on Craigs list or eBay. The older the model, the less they go for.

Israel kills two handicapped Palestinian women in air strike on home for disabled

Suha Abu Sada probably knew or understood nothing about the suspected Palestinian militants who lived in the flats above her and whose names featured on Israel’s assassination list.
….
The pair - one a member of Hamas, the other of Islamic Jihad, according to a neighbour - were not at home at around 4.30am on Saturday when the strike found its target with deadly force.
….
Witnesses said a drone fired two warning shots at the building moments before the fatal strike but said most residents would have been unable to respond in time.

White House trims 2014 deficit projection to $583 billion

The White House lowered its U.S. federal deficit forecast for the 2014 fiscal year by $66 billion to $583 billion on Friday on the basis of gathering economic momentum as evidenced by gains in hiring.

“The deficit has been cut by more than half as a share of the economy, representing the most rapid sustained deficit reduction since World War Two, and it continues to fall,” acting White House budget director Brian Deese said in a statement.

And here in California, after we threw out the Republican assholes whose sole goal was to drive the state into bankruptcy,

California Budget Ends With Surplus

Sonora, CA — It’s been a rarity over the past decade, but California ended the past fiscal year with a surplus of revenue.

The new budget took effect on July 1st, and California still had nearly $2 billion unspent.

“This hasn’t happened since 2007,” says State Controller John Chiang. “If you remember back in 2009 I had to hold back tax refunds, and issue IOU’s, so that the state didn’t default on its debt. So, it’s nice not having to operate on borrowed money. We’re making progress.”

The solution is so simple; get rid of the Republicans until they start acting like adults again. I suspect we’ll be waiting a very long time before that happens.

Oh, and then’s there’s this.

Rockets from Gaza hit West Bank cities: army

“One rocket struck an urban area in Hebron and two other rockets struck the area of Bethlehem,” it said, giving no details of any casualties or damage.

Shortly before the rockets hit, air raid sirens sounded in Jerusalem, just a few miles north of Bethlehem, before at least two explosions were heard.

Palestinian security sources told AFP one rocket hit an inhabited area of Hebron, and another struck a house in the nearby village of Sair, to the south.

There were no immediate details on the third rocket.

Planned obsolescence. Apple wants you to buy at least a 4G. I hear there’s a fire sale on them to make room for more 5s. : )

But there’s a catch, you have to pay upfront: verizonwireless.com

Seriously, if you’re on a monthly plan, can you get another that will offer a free phone with a similar plan? My grandson is with Boost Mobile who sold him a Samsung 4g for $99 and it’s not a contract, just a month to month for $35. I would shop around.

No, i was on a $.10/minute plan that sucked. I’m looking to get onto a regular monthly plan to save money anyway. Even a contract doesn’t bother me at this point.
