Right Wing Deception Goes Big in Israel Gaza Conflict

Middle East • Views: 49,071

Well, we see it at home with false Breitbart posts and a host of other places (anyone remember the false pieces on ACORN?). NOW, in an effort to drive a wedge between Jewish American voters, 70% of whom voted for President Obama in 2012 we have this nightmare:

Reporter Oren Nahari at Israel’s Channel One reported that he received a leaked conversation between President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu:

The following is an English translation of the Hebrew account of the talk given in the report:

Barack Obama: I demand that Israel agrees to an immediate, unilateral ceasefire and halt all offensive activities, in particular airstrikes.

Benjamin Netanyahu: And what will Israel receive in exchange for a ceasefire?

BO: I believe that Hamas will cease its rocket fire — silence will be met with silence.

BN: Hamas broke all five previous ceasefires. It’s a terrorist organization dedicated to the destruction of Israel.

BO: I repeat and expect Israel to stop all its military activities unilaterally. The pictures of destruction in Gaza distance the world from Israel’s position.

BN: Kerry’s proposal was completely unrealistic and gives Hamas military and diplomatic advantages.

BO: Within a week of the end of Israel’s military activities, Qatar and Turkey will begin negotiations with Hamas based on the 2012 understandings, including Israel’s commitment to removing the siege restrictions on Gaza.

BN: Qatar and Turkey are the biggest supporters of Hamas. It’s impossible to rely on them to be fair mediators.

BO: I trust Qatar and Turkey. Israel is not in the position that it can choose its mediators.

BN: I protest because Hamas can continue to launch rockets and use tunnels for terror attacks -

BO: (interrupting Netanyahu) The ball’s in Israel’s court, and it must end all its military activities.

This was immediately picked up by the Times of Israel and then went viral throughout the Right blogosphere where Republicans are doing everything they can to try to sway Jewish voters away from the Democratic Party.

Now, anyone reading this conversation who is familiar with either of the actors (Pres. Obama and PM Netanyahu) can immediately tell this is false. Rather, the thing reads like some Rightist conspiracy dream. It doesn’t resemble the style of either man and/or their discussions with each other even when the two were extremely at odds.

Of course the White House AND the Government of Israel are denying the content of this snippet of a thirty five (35) minute discussion saying “Neither reports nor alleged transcript bear any resemblance to reality.” Both governments tweeted out their denials within minutes after the story broke at that the Times of Israel.

The question of course remains: “How low does one have to sink to completely create a false story, in the Middle of a War, to try to manipulate sections of the American voting public? And if they will do this, what else will they try before November 2014?”

I don’t think this is news to anyone nor is it a surprise that the Republicans and their Rightist allies are so desperate that they will concoct stories out of thin air to try to discredit the administration, but, I am really surprised that most of their followers simply accept these fabrications as truth without question. AND even those who do question things still trust these sources as places to be informed.

One other thing… IF this is an Israeli only report than it is very sad that a completely made up story makes it to a press that is generally more reliable than any other in the region (except for Arutz Sheva or Israel Hayom). BUT, if there is an American Official spreading this, than that is straight out sedition where an American creates a complete lie out of thin air regarding the President and then presents that lie to a foreign nations press in order to subvert an alliance.

What depths will the Right sink to in the coming months as the election draws near… who knows? One thing is for certain, I think that from here on in, if the Right reports that the sky is blue, the informed reader should still go outside to make sure that it is indeed blue.

So who’s a better propagandist? Breitbart or Putin?

It is not only very sad that completely made up stories make into the news, it is tragic derelicition of journalistic ethics.

re: #1 missliberties

That’s a good question.. Both Putin and his propaganda machine and Breitbart are not really that different in my humble opinion.

I completely agree with your second sentence - I am wondering how in the world did this even get reported as News in any mainstream or reputable news outlet.

3 cat-tikvah  Jul 29, 2014 4:49:23pm

In the last presidential election, I knew Obama really had won when we flipped over to Fox News and they were reporting it. It was probably the last true thing they “reported”.

re: #5 1Peter G1

Comment of the day… That is just what this “leaked comment” was. Did you happen to see some of the responses in the article I showed? How about this one:

“I don’t care how much PONTUS denies it, it sounds too much like the aragant ass he is.”

And then the guy goes on to say that he wants to move to Israel. Of course he left out that the PM of Israel says the same exact thing as the President. This is severe derangement.

29 lawhawk  Jul 30, 2014 9:09:39am

So, if this supposedly came from some US official, who was the one feeding this to Channel 1? Unnamed official?

Was the source Mr. Diver? Dumpster Diver? Or maybe someone who has such animus for the Administration that they felt comfortable in lying about the contents of a conversation they knew was to take place?

In any event, the point of spreading this lie was to poison the already tense relationship between Netenyahu and Obama, make any diplomatic efforts more difficult, and to paint Obama and Kerry dipomatic efforts as bullying Israel into something it doesn’t want to do.

And from Twitchy:

Note from the managing editors: The original title of this post did not make clear that it was quoting David Horowitz and we apologize. Twitchy does not endorse that kind of language in politics, and in fact, the site has a long record of condemning it on both sides of the aisle.

We regret that this post was published when a managing editor was not available to review and correct it, and again, we apologize.

In addition, the original headline misrepresented what Pelosi said. Here is the relevant portion of the CNN transcript:

PELOSI: Well, we all - war is a deadly thing. And I have many Palestinians who live in my district and I am hearing them regularly about how their families are affected who live in the region. It’s a terrible thing. But let me just say that any missile that comes from someplace has a return address. And if Israel is responding to that address, then that’s a shame that the Palestinians are use - are rumored to be using children and families as shields for their missiles.

Should we all try to, first of all, avoid conflict, the Hamas initiated this. So again, this has to be something where we try to have the two-state solution, that we have to support - we have to support Abbas and his role as a leader there. We have to support Iron Dome to protect the Israelis from the missiles. We have to support the Palestinians and what they need. And we have to confer with the Qataris, who have told me over and over again that Hamas is a humanitarian organization, maybe they could use their influence to -

(CROSSTALK)

CROWLEY: The U.S. (INAUDIBLE) organization though, correct, to you? [Twitchy’s transcript of this portion: “The U.S. thinks they’re a terrorist organization though, correct? Do you?”]

PELOSI: Mmm-hmm.

CROWLEY: Yes.

PELOSI: We’ve had that discussion.

Wiesenthal Center Calls for Dutch PM to Intervene After Anti-Semitic ISIS Rally; Protesters Threaten to Kill ‘Dirty Jews from the Sewers’

Jewish human rights group The Simon Wiesenthal Center on Friday called on Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to rescind approval for a rally in support of ISIS in the Hague, after protesters, yelling in Arabic and Dutch, proclaimed that “dirty Jews from the sewers” should be killed.

In a fiery letter to Rutte, Dr. Shimon Samuels, SWC Director for International Relations, said similar calls of violence were reported at a rally on July 4, and show that rather than even expressing support for Hamas militants in Gaza, the true intention of the rallies have been to call for the death of Jews.

“Yesterday, the call in Arabic and Dutch was for ‘dirty Jews from the sewers to be killed,’” Samuels said. “This rally had little to do with Gaza solidarity. It was unambiguously targeted against Jews, but also according to the Dutch press sought to lynch journalists, who were pulled to safety by the police, otherwise serving as silent spectators.”

He said that what was “most disturbing” was that, while press reports and photos from the rally show the mass of masked demonstrators calling for violence, the official Public Prosecutor’s press release stated “there were only 40 to 50 people present,” that “the police were present with an Arabic speaking police officer” and “the slogans overheard by this officer were not considered as crossing boundaries. Hence no arrest was made.”

Yes, how dare the Pope criticize Ronald Reagan’s economic policies. The funny thing is that popes have been talking like this for years. Francis to his credit puts more emphasis on it and less on the so-con stuff that the GOPers love. Seriously though, if this doesn’t show you the pettiness that makes up the House GOP, I don’t know what else will. Ronald Reagan’s economic policies should not beyond criticism from anyone pontiff or not, it’s not like they were exactly good economic policies anyhow. And you never saw any House Democrats flipping their shit honoring past Popes because of abortion and gay rights. But please proceed GOP, show that you only want to be the party of conservative angry white sexually repressed Protestants more.

The reaction to Francis by the right really reminds me of a favorite quote. “When I fed the poor, they called me a saint. When I asked why are they poor, they called me a communist.” Francis is getting shit from the nutcases because he has the nerve to question their economic policies that screw the poor. And what’s more the guy actually lives a pretty humble life himself. No wonder they hate him.

They love the idea of charity, but they hate poor people.

Aircraft violates Swedish airspace

A foreign flight violated Swedish airspace on July 18, according to a classified report from the Armed Forces, reports the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet and the radio channel P4 Kalmar.

The plane was a government aircraft, an airplane that is non-civilian. The plane came from the east, straight across Gotland before it veered off to the south. Somewhat later crossed the Swedish airspace outside Oland. Altogether found the aircraft was in Swedish airspace for around 15 min and 210 km into it.

The plane had requested permission to pass over Visby, via Jönköping and then swerve to the south, but was denied passage by the Swedish traffic control, yet ignored the denial.

— Aftonbladet: Kränkte svenskt luftrum över Gotland

My $.02 is that is another Russian Air Force Nuclear bombing training run.
We had a similar airspace violation a year ago, this time the nuke training targets were in Stockholm County.

UPDATE:
Pic of path of the flight, courtesy Aftonbladet:

I suspect that they are saving the official confirmation of the identity for a possible rattling of cages, but it looks pretty clear where the aircraft came from.

Anti-Immigrant Leader Warns Response To Obama Executive Action Won’t Be ‘Peaceful And Political’

William Gheen of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, one of the key organizers of this month’s sparsely attended but prominently endorsed anti-immigrant protests, warned WorldNetDaily today that if President Obama were to issue an executive order preventing the deportation of some undocumented immigrants, that would amount to instituting “martial law” and Americans would face a choice between “subjugation” and actions that are “outside the purview of my peaceful and political efforts.”

Looks like someone doesn’t know how to put the correct links on the story. Here is the video:

Youtube Video

And here is a story about what happened on July 4th:

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (JTA) — Dozens of demonstrators shouted menacing slogans about Jews at a rally at one of the largest immigrant neighborhoods in The Netherlands.

The demonstrators gathered Friday in the Schilderswijk, a neighborhood of approximately 33,000 residents in The Hague where half the population was born either in Turkey or Morocco, or to parents who were born in those countries.

The rally was a show of support for ISIS, or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, a radical Sunni militia group fighting Shiites and others in both countries.

Holding up the black ISIS flag, the crowd chanted in Arabic, “Jews, remember Khaybar, the army of Muhammad is returning.” The cry relates to an event in the seventh century when Muslims massacred and expelled Jews from the town of Khaybar, in modern-day Saudi Arabia.

They also chanted “Down, down, Israel” and “Down, Down, U.S.A.,” a video of the demonstration aired by the local broadcaster Omroep West showed.

Sandy Rios of the American Family Association spent today criticizing the Obama administration for pushing the narrative that House Republicans may try to impeach President Obama, while at the same time insisting that Republicans should seriously consider impeaching the president.

Upset that Fox News host Andrea Tantaros came out against impeachment, Rios cited the release of a Guantanamo Bay detainee, Abu Sufian bin Qumu, who was later implicated in the 2012 Benghazi attack, as proof that Obama is guilty of “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

Everyone’s favorite repressed closet case has an opinion:

Bryan Fischer: ‘It Will Be Impeachment Or The End Of America’

America has a political problem: a renegade president, unbound by either Constitution or conscience.

America has a political problem. But it also has a political solution: impeachment.

In fact, it’s impeachment or nothing. In the end, Republicans will have absolutely no other alternative if they wish to keep this president from transforming this once great nation into a banana republic.

Lawsuits won’t work, because the president has already shown a cavalier disregard for the rule of law. Defunding won’t work, because the president has already shown a cavalier disregard for budgetary restraints of any kind.

In the end, it will be impeachment or the ruin of America.

Now if the Republicans don’t want to save this country, they won’t attempt to impeach. If they do love this country, they will. In the end, the equation will be as simple as that.

Also, you know, it’s true.

The D.C. commissioners, charged by Congress with building the new city under the direction of the president, initially planned to import workers from Europe to meet their labor needs. However, response to recruitment was dismal and soon they turned to African Americans - slave and free - to provide the bulk of labor that built the White House, the United States Capitol, and other early government buildings.

I saw an anti-Israel rally right in the center of Hague a coupla years ago. Prolly still have the photos. It was quite noisy and not a nice sight to behold.

Facts…. who needs Facts, we have a narrative to construct.

RBS

The best part is Sandy’s question at the end:

“The so-called mainstream Republicans are bending over backwards to vilify conservatives, it’s almost like the birther incident, it’s like people who are now discussing impeachment and whether the president has committed those crimes, now they are going to have cooties, we will have to think of a word for people who say that, ‘impeachables,’ I’m not sure what you call people like me who actually think it should be seriously discussed.

Raving lunatic fuckwits immediately comes to mind, but someone else might have a better name.

It’s that she’s awful for bringing up slavery and having pride in her African ancestral heritage. We’re not allowed to bring up slavery and its effects on America. We are allowed however to cry about the CSA losing because that’s different libtard.

Oh, well then…

Well, we can’t expect the man to just take it on faith that Arthur Bryant’s is the best BBQ in the region. Our President is a thoughtful man, a scholar, he believes in science. He must seek out and evaluate all the evidence.

Of course, Bob Beckel is a “liberal” in the same Fox News way that Alan Colmes is a liberal. As in, he’s not one.

He’s not a liberal, he just plays one on TV.
