Chuck Todd Finds a Way to Blame Democrats for Republican Impeachment Insanity

WTF, Chuck
Media • Views: 30,881

I have no idea how anyone could look at the insane impeachment talk coming out of so many Republicans these days and still find a way to invoke the Magical Balance Fairy and say “both parties are equally responsible for this.”

But Chuck Todd did.

Chuck Todd on Wednesday railed against both the White House and congressional Republicans for engaging in “disgusting” and “embarrassing” rhetoric on impeachment and suing the president.

“This is sort of an embarrassing moment for Washington,” the NBC News chief White House correspondent said. “The leaders for both parties here — they’re driving away people from the polls, they’re driving people away from politics. This is cynical, it’s ugly, it’s disgusting.”

[…]

Todd declared a plague on both their houses, criticizing both Boehner and the White House for “embarrassing” tactics.

“This is the most cynical — Boehner’s up there with this ridiculous lawsuit, Josh Earnest sitting at the podium trying to tick off names of, ‘Look at Republicans who want impeachment’ — it’s not serious,” Todd said. “The lawsuit’s not serious. The impeachment talk’s not serious. This is playground stuff. This is embarrassing.”

Ooohkay. So in the weird world of Chuck Todd, pointing out that Republicans are increasingly ranting about impeachment is the same thing as ranting about impeachment.

It’s the privileged Beltway “view from nowhere” at its most ridiculous.

Only through very serious abuse of the MBF is pretending that your side isn’t talking about impeachment (while talking about impeachment) and naming names of who actually is talking about impeachment equally embarrassing.

10 lawhawk  Jul 30, 2014 5:38:22pm

MBF at its most insane.

GOP demanding impeachment at every opportunity. Leading GOP pundits demanding impeachment. The GOP VP nominee from 2012 is demanding impeachment. Members of the House GOP are demanding impeachment. There are prospective GOPers for Congress demanding impeachment.

Boehner pushed for and got a lawsuit against the President. That’s plenty insane, especially considering it’s a suit for the president to follow a law that the GOP has sought to repeal, delay, or otherwise destroy through 50+ votes.

This is all on of these GOPers.

That Democrats are fundraising off the threat of impeachment isn’t the Democrats furthering the specter of impeachment. It’s the reality that the GOP are pushing into insane territory and there has to be push back. Pushing back against the threat of impeachment, let alone the lawsuit by Boehner, isn’t the same as pursuing or initiating lawsuits or impeachment proceedings.

And with November results around the corner, the GOP could well gain the advantage needed to go ahead and carry out their threats of impeachment. That’s why the Democrats are fighting back by raising funds and shining a light on this insanity.

What? Known right-wing testicle cozy and all-around uberhack Chuck Todd somehow found a way to contort himself into position to both suck off the GOP while kicking the Democrats in the nuts? Color me fucking shocked.

It’s no surprise at all.

Nope, no surprise….

The former CIA official said it would be standard practice for ambassadors informed about a covert operation to be instructed not to share it with others who did not have a “need to know,” as determined by the National Security Council. Ambassadors in countries in which the CIA set up black sites to interrogate prisoners were usually told about it, said the official, who, like others interviewed for this story, would not be quoted by name because some of the information remains classified.

Also not terribly surprising the White House “accidentally” emailed the entire 6,500 page document to an AP reporter.

Yes. And Todd is also forced to be ‘even’ so as not to piss off any one single needed-for-the-ratings viewer.

I used to love NBC. Gave up on national news about two or three years ago. Even bailed on local Columbus NBC except for mornings where you only need 1/2 hour as they loop weather and about three stories with some traffic.

Used to watch a lot of MSNBC…now down to about one maybe two shows and that isn’t all the time either. Like tonight I watched the first half of Tweety Matthews and that’s been it.

Said it before…I get a better coverage here at LGF through all the linked articles, side pages, video links etc.

Ha ha the “the magical balance fairy” That one wins the internet’s!

76 lostlakehiker  Jul 30, 2014 11:05:01pm

I give it 50 to 1 odds that the House never so much as takes an up or down vote on impeachment. Boehner knows better. An impeachment without a case that will move some senators from the other party would be fatuous nonsense. There is no such case. There is no case at all, really. We don’t, or shouldn’t, impeach presidents for pushing the edge of their authority, or for making decisions that work out not so well, much less for making decisions that just one party thinks poor.

Nixon had his impeachment coming. But he went way outside the edge of his authority.

There are not, in my view fortunately, enough Republicans who have drunk deeply of the KoolAidTea to make an impeachment of Obama anything other than wildly unlikely.

There are indeed members of the House who like to run their mouths on the topic. It may even help them in primaries or with fundraising. That’s grossly irresponsible but it’s sandbox stuff. It won’t affect the operating system of the government.

77 Tigger2005  Jul 31, 2014 9:59:04am
