Remember Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks, who is a Republican, and his statement earlier today that Obama and the Democrats are “waging war on white people?”

Well, he’s not backing down from this right wing race-baiting meme (and he’s far from the first right winger to say something like this). In fact, after spewing this insanity to right wing radio host Laura Ingraham this morning, he gave an interview to al.com and expanded on his brilliant, if totally non-original, “reverse racism” concept: Rep. Mo Brooks: Democrats ‘Dividing America by Race’ in ‘Waging a War on Whites’.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks accused blacks and Hispanics in the Democratic Party today of waging a “war on whites” by invoking race to split the nation.

“In effect, what the Democrats are doing with their dividing America by race is they are waging a war on whites and I find that repugnant,” Brooks, R-Huntsville, said this afternoon in an interview with AL.com.

“We should not be dividing anybody based on national heritage or race. Rather, we should be bringing us all together. That’s what the melting pot ideal of America is all about. A person’s skin pigmentation is something acquired at birth that has absolutely nothing to do with the merits of the person of how one should vote.”

Obviously, Rep. Brooks has heard from some of his constituents, telling him not to back down. He’s got a winning platform there.

This is the Republican Party in 2014. Alabama, you got the weight on your shoulders.
