Mike Huckabee: The Latest Big-Name Republican to Rant About Impeachment

“Absolutely - no doubt he’s done plenty of things worthy of impeachment”

The latest old white Republican figure to rant about impeaching America’s first black President is theocrat Mike Huckabee, who appeared on the wingnut radio show of Steve Deace to say Obama has “done plenty of things worthy of impeachment.”

Huckabee notes, however, that Republicans will need to wait until after the November elections to do it, because they don’t have the votes right now to convict him in the Senate. (Although that certainly didn’t stop the Republican Party from impeaching Bill Clinton in the House.)

That’s racist theocrat Mike Huckabee to you, sir.

2 EPR-radar  Aug 6, 2014 3:07:21pm

News flash, Huckabee the moron. Even after the 2014 midterm elections, the GOP will not have the 2/3 majority in the Senate needed to convict in an impeachment.

3 Norbrook  Aug 6, 2014 3:08:43pm

Given that it takes a 2/3’rds majority to convict in the Senate, and the likelihood of Republicans being able to achieve that, the odds of impeachment succeeding are less than winning a PowerBall lottery.

About the only thing achieved by this would be that the Republicans would get to pander to their base, while continuing to be unproductive as hell as legislators. This is in their minds a “win-win” scenario.

4 Targetpractice  Aug 6, 2014 3:08:53pm

They won’t have them after November either. Takes 2/3 of the Senate to vote to remove a sitting president and even in the best case scenario for the GOTP on Election Day, they’ll still fall short of that by 12-13 seats.

Note that being unable to convict Bill Clinton in the Senate didn’t stop Republicans from impeaching him in the House, either. I won’t be surprised to see something like the same scenario play out with Obama.

Hopefully Obama’s heir as Democratic standard bearer is smarter than Gore and Gore’s people and doesn’t run away from him should such a thing were to happen since it’s obvious that GOP attempts to impeach Obama are nothing but a sham.

15 Wendell Zurkowitz (slave to the waffle light)  Aug 6, 2014 3:18:07pm

The point of it is that the GOP does not want to impeach Obama, but his actions as President are forcing them.

Just like those slutty chicks force men to rape them by dressing provocatively and drinking to excess…

16 Brother Holy Cruise Missile of Mild Acceptance  Aug 6, 2014 3:18:54pm

re: #9 Charles Johnson

Yep, if they hold the house I definitely foresee a push to file articles of impeachment regardless whether or not they can get the senate to sign on. Just look at the number of anti-(insert something Obama is for here) bills they have passed that have little to no chance of getting through the senate.

I am still trying to figure out WHAT they want to impeach him for and none of them have ever given a straight answer. Given how low the bar is after what they tried to do to Clinton it won’t take them much I am sure. There were far better grounds for impeaching Bush than there are for Obama.

re: #13 b_sharp

Huckabee like many an American conservative is a man who cannot accept change and sees it as threatening to him. That’s why the right hates the left so much. The left isn’t afraid to call them out on their old ways which despite what they believe aren’t always the best ways and that’s especially true when it comes to women’s and homosexuals’ rights. Two subjects that Mr. Huckabee resembles Iran’s Ayatollah more than your average American.

It seems to have started with FDR and the New Deal, got amplified by civil rights progress from the 50s to the 70s, and then the election results of 2008 and 2012 were a final blow.

US conservatives have decided to destroy the US if they can’t run it the way they want to. Hopefully enough people will see this is what’s really going on, which will doom movement conservatism to richly deserved irrelevance.

Makes sense. Between Geller, McCain, Greenwald, Malkin, Mona, Sirota, and Shapiro, you attract a pretty healthy group of detractors - most of whom I assume are angry because you pulled the scab back from the right wing a few years ago and exposed them for being the bigots they are. coulter religion

At one public lecture she said, “I don’t care about anything else; Christ died for my sins, and nothing else matters”. She summarized her view of Christianity in a 2004 column, saying, “Jesus’ distinctive message was: People are sinful and need to be redeemed, and this is your lucky day, because I’m here to redeem you even though you don’t deserve it, and I have to get the crap kicked out of me to do it.” She then mocked “the message of Jesus…according to liberals”, summarizing it as “something along the lines of ‘be nice to people,’” which, in turn, she said “is, in fact, one of the incidental tenets of Christianity”

So, Huckabee thinks Obama’s engaged in impeachable conduct. Except he can’t name a specific act that is impeachable. It’s the same empty platitudes spewed by the likes of Palin et al. They want impeachment because that’s all they’ve ever wanted since 2009. But they can’t pin any specific action as impeachable because they know (or should know) that you can’t impeach on policy grounds. A policy difference isn’t impeachable. But that’s where the GOP has been since even the Clinton days.

My full response to that kind of garbage was published on my churches website…

The dead can take care of the dead. We can not live for the next world. - we can not abandon the pain and suffering of this world to a forlorn hope of a better life in heaven. No, we must instead live as if the atheists are right and that this world is all there ever will be. We must live in the here and now, in the gladness and fullness of heart that being open to God’s love brings. We must open ourselves to the love that comes from all creation for God’s creation is the fullest expression of the that love that exists NOW for each and every person in the world. Never forget that Jesus healed the eyes of the man born blind right there and then. He did not tell him how great seeing would be in heaven. To do less than that in our own lives is the real sin.

“Ruse said that he started to worry when he realized that one of the chefs on Chopped “looked like a butch lesbian” and put his finger on the remote just in case he got exposed to gayness.”

re: #93 Ryan King

The media really does suck.

Local media is hyping hurricane stories with pictures of lines at gas stations and empty store shelves. Lead story in local paper has a picture of supposedly long gas lines at a Costco.

That line is typical for a Tuesday afternoon around 4PM sans hurricane. Nothing special.

Especially when the first Hurricane is forecast to downgrade to a Tropical Storm well before landfall and Number 2 is forecast to swing well north of the chain (putting the islands on the “safe side”).

It will, however, significantly increase Spam sales over the next couple of days. (Oh, you didn’t know about Hawaiians and Spam? They like it. A lot.)

I’d like to see Coulter’s bible, because that isn’t in any bible I’ve ever read. She must have the one from Regnery Press with the new Gospel According to St. Ronnie.

I’ve seen Coulter’s bible. It was written by Anton LaVey.

:) I don’t hate LaVey; I actually met him many, many years ago up in Portland, OR. I recognized him immediately, and we started talking, and even though I’d never read The Satanic Bible, I was able to figure out pretty quickly it was just Objectivism with a little bit of ceremony thrown into in.

He was a nice enough fellow, I must say, and someone I enjoyed talking to.

My uncle got involved with LaVey and his cult. Let us just say that Satan did not bail him out when he got busted for the cocaine & teenage prostitutes that Satan said it was OK to use.

re: #13 b_sharp

The right really has a hate on for the left. What exactly do they imagine the left did to earn such hate?

More projection than an IMAX theater.

Just look what the conservatives have been doing all around the country. The War on Woman. The War on Poors. The War on Minorities. The War on Immigrants. Union Busting. Free-for-all for Corporations. They’ve managed to enact all these unpopular by stomping on the Left.

After all these, they fear losing the power they’ve accumulated. They fear that they will be paid with the same coin they’ve paid others. That is enough to drive them angry. Add to that the dilution of their power, and it further drives them mad.

re: #83 Gus

One is by an authoritative Russian professor at the diplomatic academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alexander Lukin. This is a rare instance when official Russia is given the microphone and Lukin has used the opportunity well. He explains why the continuing advance of the EU and of NATO into states bordering Russia like Moldova, Georgia and now Ukraine in violation of the understandings reached at the end of the first Cold War is tearing those states apart and threatening direct military conflict between the West and Russia. He strongly suggests the solution lies in the West’s agreeing to neutrality for these buffer states.

How about letting the states themselves decide, you dick?

Or some other factor may be operative. The Ur-critic, the Great American Dissident, MIT Professor Noam Chomsky took a while to weigh in, holding his silence until his distaste for American bullying of Russia and its aggressive hypocrisy outweighed his distaste for what he construed as Mr. Putin’s authoritarian regime.

In effect, the mantle of Great American Dissident with respect to Russia and Ukraine has been assumed by Professor emeritus of Princeton and New York University Stephen F. Cohen, a leading scholar and teacher in the field

You mean Putin’s shill?

but the political line of a paper originally created to serve the expatriate community in Moscow has been directed against its host country for more than a decade under the watchful eye of its Finnish owners, Sanoma.

If someone wrote this sentence about The Nation, the same author would presumably be appalled.

As he notes, if Putin can rise to the challenge and, on the strength of his overwhelming popularity, rein in the oligarchs further, curb corruption more and successfully launch the reindustrialization that import substitution invites, he will finally diversify the economy away from mineral extraction and Russia may genuinely prosper. This in turn will take the country along its way on the path to full-fledged democracy.

Seems like Die Nation is dead as any sort of an intellectual enterprise.
