I had a long fucking day. Spent 4 1/2 hours doing a sales presentation to potential clients - I’m an engineering manager here, but somebody thinks I’ve got good people skills, so this is my second presentation. And yeah, I did fine, but I’m really just done after four hours of Q&A.

Yes. That.

14 jaunte  Aug 7, 2014 5:30:31pm

I was wondering how long this technique has been used, and found this:

Guitarists using double-handed tapping are able to music that is normally reserved for pianos or keyboards, because they can accurately play eight or even nine separate notes, depending on their dexterity.

The effective note range is also increased. Double-handed tapping allows a guitarist to play two melodies, or a melody and accompaniment simultaneously, in the same way that a pianist can.

Tapping is a technique that has been used on various stringed instruments for a long time in musical history. For modern guitar playing, it is due to Emmet Chapman’s pioneering in double-handed tapping, that made the technique popular.

He discovered the technique of using two hands for tapping, by positioning them parallel to the frets. He even went as far as to invent the “Chapman Stick”. This instrument is a modified guitar, with a wide neck and up to 12 strings, designed purely with tapping in mind.

There are lots of backwards places in this world, some have more money than others and it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference:

Activists slam findings of Saudi sexual harassment study

A study conducted by a research center in Saudi Arabia has garnered mixed views amongst commentators, after 80 percent of people in the national survey attributed an increase in harassment to the “deliberate flirtatious behavior” of women.

The survey, undertaken by the King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue in Riyadh, quizzed 992 participants across the country. Roughly equal numbers of men and women were surveyed.

Many of those questioned said women deliberately wore their clothes and makeup to attract male attention, while a majority of 91 percent said “lack of religious restraint” is another reason behind gender-based harassment in the Kingdom.

hey! Never too old!
For my 50th birthday (oh so, so long ago) I decided to do something outrageous.
I started on a hand-me-down basic banjo, but within a few months bought a resonator banjo, took lessons (teacher focused on Scruggs rolls, but I decided to go more chromatic a la Bela Fleck) and kick ass all these years later, especially front porch pickin’ in the backwoods. Echos are freakin’ amazing.

We rescue a lot of animals, especially cats, and one of my family members was in the pool at the time the photography was taken and a couple of the cats don’t mind being petted by someone with wet hands, as surprising as that is.

That particular one is a huge if you can’t tell, probably one of the biggest cats I ever seen especially since he isn’t fat or anything.

Seriously I thought bob cat. Mentally measured a diving board. Holy hell!!

Or how conservatives who want to DEPORT THEM ALL don’t talk about how Ronnie signed an amnesty or those who accuse Obama of being “soft” don’t talk about how Reagan would have liked to live in a world without nukes. I think the only reason why Reagan gets away with so much in their eyes is that he’s been their only real winner since Nixon. Yes, Bush was a two termer but his Electoral College contests were both very close. If Reagan wasn’t charismatic, they’d call him a RINO like how they do with Ford and both Bushes.

He really hurt a lot of things that men like my grandfather fought for. My grandfather was a lifer in the NLRB. Reagan is the president that turned government from being close to a fair arbitrator between labor and management to outright taking management’s side and what’s even more maddening is that the hypocrite was in charge of a union himself. But I’ll tell you as bad as Reagan is for that, he’s even worse for bringing the religious right into the Republican Party. The Religious Right has been one of the most toxic parts of politics since Reagan’s election and Reagan and his pandering to the Falwell types deserves the brunt of the blame for that.

She was feral until a month ago and already has her adult teeth. Is 30 lbs. WE don’t think she’ll get a whole lot bigger. So, she’ll look like small shepherd. IIRC breed standard is something like 65 lbs for a female -2 feet tall at shoulder. I think she’ll always be petite since she hasn’t had good nutrition for the first 5 months of her life. Therefore, Shepherd Mini

She had every possible parasite and bacteria known to veterinary science. Even if she had good food, she didn’t absorb it properly. Now that she is healthy, she is eating 3 full meals a day. Yesterday she was acting so much like a 3 year old that was late for a meal, I gave her a fourth meal. She gobbled it up and was much better behaved after that.

German Shepherds were bred specifically for their intelligence,[12] a trait for which they are now famous.[4] In the book The Intelligence of Dogs, author Stanley Coren ranked the breed third for intelligence, behind Border Collies and Poodles.[13][14] He found that they had the ability to learn simple tasks after only five repetitions and obeyed the first command given 95% of the time.[4] Coupled with their strength, this trait makes the breed desirable as police, guard and search and rescue dogs, as they are able to quickly learn various tasks and interpret instructions better than other large breeds.[15]

Notification of Congress can be done any number of ways. Conference calling the Congressional leaders from both parties and chambers could be sufficient; a written report is also required under the circumstances and law. The President can act as CinC without Congressional action of a declaration of war for a limited time (60 days) as per the WPA. (50 USC 1541 and following).
