TeaParty.org Spreads Ebola Conspiracy Theories

Wingnuts • Views: 25,164

Lest we believe that conspiracy theories about allowing Ebola to spread are isolated to Africa, the far-right is convinced that Obama is trying to TAKE OUR GUNZ by creating the conditions for a mass epidemic. In case you needed more proof Infowars and the Tea Party are hazardous to public health:

Ebola Outbreak Can Lead to Gun Confiscations, Martial Law

The Obama administration is placing its chess pieces on the board to checkmate gun owners, and a potential Ebola outbreak could be just the crisis that leads to such an endgame.

And in power grabs directly pertaining to the current Ebola crisis, last week President Obama granted himself the power to apprehend and detain Americans who merely show signs of “respiratory illness” and the Center for Disease Control is even ready to quarantine Americans who are not sick at all.

That’s right, gun owners! Obama is ready to initiate a totally unprecedented military deployment on American soil. From our cold, infected hands, men!

I wonder what they will think when ships sink in bubble pools of methane coming up from the sea floor, on when a clathrate deposit popping causes an underwater landslide and accompanying megatsunami?

False Flag! Hurr! Durr!?

I’ve already heard comments to the effect that there’s nothing new about methane coming up from the arctic seafloor to the extent it is now. Yet my instinct tells me to brace for impact, something big and ugly is on the horizon.

I was smoking a ciggie and it occurred to me that a lot what we’re seeing now in the world, the chaos and dissent, the radicalism, seems to have gotten its start in the 1970s.

The Moral Majority in the US; the spread of Salafism in the Middle East and the Deobandi gaining strength in South Asia, etc.

Was it the 1960s that led to a reactionary backlash that we’re still living with today, and that seems to have gathered strength over the last four decades and exploded all over the place? I wonder. Perhaps the various social changes that took place in the 1960s kicked it off - those who were opposed to progress and those terrified of change began working in earnest to rollback all the progress they perceived of as threatening.

Just my observation.

I’m still convinced that ‘civilians’, aka people who don’t follow politics that closely, do not know that.

I know this is one of my broken MP3 subjects, but if the Tea Party was so destructive, why are we still hearing about a GOP sweep in November.

Yes, I know about the whole “Sitting President’s party gets its clock cleaned in midterms” tradition. My thing is I never hear anyone in my little corner of chaos say “My God, the GOTP is bug-fuck insane.”

Most of these people would be considered independents, at least by the media’s definition. They all pretty much voted for Christie and Obama.

Speaking of destructive, 2016 wanna-bes take cheap shots at Obama exploiting the crisis with ISIS:

Ted Cruz: Obama Should ‘Spend Less Time on The Golf Course’

[…]

Asked if Obama should cancel his vacation due to the situation in Iraq, Jindal said “Maybe he’ll actually do less damage if he stays away from his full time job, his day job.”

“The reality is the president has checked out,” he added.

So, Cruz condemns Obama for not being in DC, and then Jindal says Obama should stay away.

And if you ask the RWNJ’s they will say “There IS not national Tea Party Organization”. According to them it’s truly a grassroots movement with no leaders or structure.

My hope is that their madness burns out those who were playing with the fringe, but my real fear is that the GOP as a whole will (and is) moving further and further to the right to appease these idiots.

I wish they would go ahead with their continual threats to start a new 3rd party. The funny thing is that when you get more than 4 RWNJs together, they quickly break into 2 or 3 bickering groups, and none of the other groups are pure enough or fail for some reason. The party they put together would be sure to guarantee Democratic victories for the the foreseeable future. I am confident that the GOP leadership is at least as aware of this as I am, and are doing their best to placate the tea party to prevent that occurrence.

They swim to Hong Kong in Brazil (since it is closest to Africa) and then hitchhike north until they see the shining mountains of the USA. They pick up Spanish and Portuguese along the way from the locals. They also develop very muscular calves from the walking backwards hitching, and very strong shoulders from the swim. All this while being infected with Ebola.

Ted Cruz for President? - the Atlantic

At meetings like this one, both in his home state of Texas and across the country, Cruz is a bona-fide rock star. “It’s like all the Beatles in one person,” gushed the Texas gathering’s emcee, Erick Erickson, editor-in-chief of the widely read RedState, who introduced Cruz by hailing him as “the leader of the conservative movement in the United States.”

[…]

At the end of his speech, as the crowd waved red-and-blue signs handed out by Cruz’s staff and bearing his hashtag-slogan, “#makedclisten,” Erickson, the RedState honcho, was suddenly moved to do something he had not done for any of the other speakers on the program. “Folks, let’s pray for Senator Cruz,” he said.

Erickson gripped the podium with both hands while Cruz, standing to one side, leaned over and braced one hand against it. “Father, there are those who hear Senator Cruz and his voice and his leadership inspires them,” Erickson said, his eyes squinted tightly shut. “There are others, Father, that turn from him, and we pray, Father, for your protection upon them. We pray, Father, that he can be a beacon to this country.”

The midterm elections are not looking good because there are a lot more Dem seats in the Senate up for grabs than Rep seats this year. Many of those Dem seats are in areas where the electorate came out heavily in favor of Romney in 2012.

The Republicans are losing ground nationally, but that isn’t going to help us in those specific state races. Without a President to vote for far too many of the people without strong feelings on their local politics bother going out to vote. Meanwhile the Republicans pretty much all have strong feelings (worst president ever, communist, destruction of the country!) and would crawl over broken glass to make it to the polls.

They also have the 65+ demographic almost totally behind them and those people vote in every election without fail.

If every eligible person showed up and cast a vote we wouldn’t have much to worry about. Unfortunately history tells us that that is not going to happen, so keeping control of the Senate is rather iffy this year.

I know a real cowboy who wears ostrich boots, but he’s got all kindsa dirt on ‘em. And jeans on with ‘em. Not those new ones either.

Cowboy boots are a great example of something that was purpose designed for a job. From the great information box know as wikipedia.

When mounting and, especially, dismounting, the slick, treadless leather sole of the boot allowed easy insertion and removal of the foot into the stirrup of the Western saddle. The original toe was rounded and a bit narrowed at the toe to make it easier to insert. While an extremely pointed toe is a modern stylization appearing in the 1940s, it adds no practical benefit, and can be uncomfortable in a working boot.

While in the saddle, the tall heel minimized the risk of the foot sliding forward through the stirrup, which could be life-threatening if it happened and the rider were to be unseated. There was often considerable risk that a cowboy would fall from a horse, both because he often had to ride young, unpredictable horses, but also because he had to do challenging ranch work in difficult terrain, that often meant that he could accidentally become unseated by a quick-moving horse. If a rider fell from a horse but had a boot get caught in the stirrup, there arose a very great risk that the horse could panic and run off, dragging the cowboy, causing severe injury and possible death.

The tall leather shaft of the boot helped to hold the boot in place in the absence of lacing. The tall shaft, comfortably loose fit, and lack of lacing all were additional features that helped prevent a cowboy from being dragged since his body weight could pull his foot out of the boot if he fell off while the boot remained stuck in the stirrup. While mounted, the shaft also protected the lower leg and ankle from rubbing on the stirrup leathers, as well as fending off brush and thorns, particularly if also worn with chaps or chinks. While dismounted, the shaft helped protect the leg and foot from rocks, brush, thorns, and rattlesnakes. In wet weather or creek crossings, the high tops helped prevent the boot from filling with mud and water.

Um, no, it’s not the same at all. This is an Al Qaeda flag.

Come on, don’t make excuses for this. Even Tom Gara, who’s very pro-Palestinian, isn’t trying to do that.

Seems to me that Ace wasn’t “mak(ing) excuses”, it seemed like a genuine question about the flag and its slogan.

94 CuriousLurker  Aug 9, 2014 3:11:00pm

*SIGH* Regarding the black flag, I created a Page last year that covers this. I’ve created several other pages on reputable counter-terrorism resources as well. Unfortunately, I don’t know of any way to provide a list of search results of my Pages that are in the “Terrorism” category.

I’m not sure any of it really worth my efforts though, since people can’t seem to be bothered to take the time to read anything longer than 140 characters these days. Yeah, I’m grouchy today because I hate having to repeat myself.

This certainly makes sense now, doesn’t it? WAKE UP, SHEEPLE!!! //

Nothing intrinsically violent about that quote. Is this the Muslim equivalent of some Christian guy with a John 3:16 sign, or am I missing context here?

It’s not either/or—no, there’s nothing intrinsically violent about the quote, and yes you’re missing context. Please see my #94 above.

108 Dr Lizardo  Aug 9, 2014 3:28:55pm

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, rats are beginning to flee the sinking ship of the Novorossiya separatists.

The flagging pro-Russia rebellion in eastern Ukraine has a new leader fighting to keep control of the militants’ most important stronghold following the resignation of a Russian citizen who had directed the insurgency since it began more than four months ago.

Alexander Borodai, a Moscow native who has claimed to be prime minister of the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Donetsk since May, resigned on Thursday and handed the reins of the unraveling independence drive to Donetsk native Alexander Zakharchenko, according to news agencies reporting from the embattled city.

But the departure of the most visible connection between the rebellion and the Kremlin could signal a desire by Putin to avoid incurring further sanctions on the Russian economy, already hit hard by declining stock values, a ruble plummeting against sturdier currencies, and the flight abroad of more than $75 billion in foreign capital in the first six months of the year as investors flee uncertain markets.

If Borodai’s return to Russia is part of a Kremlin decision to retreat from the eastern Ukraine fighting, Putin could face a loss of the resounding Russian public support for his takeover of Crimea, which has gained him record approval ratings this year, as high as 85%.

Yes. Obama is the President, so anything bad that happens is his fault.

As I understand the common law concept of “natural born” Cruz really isn’t qualified for President, unlike Obama. And I know exactly how he thinks this is going to happen too. This week I got a “Similar Name Notification” letter from the state elections department.

The letter states that my voter registration card and my state-issued ID (driver’s license) is similar but do not match exactly. Because of this, my right to vote can be challenged on election day - and the only way to correct this is to mail in a form to correct the voter registration - (not postage paid, btw) or to visit the county registrar office in person during normal business hours.

Here’s the catch.
My state-issued driver’s license has my name entered as
First Name, Middle Name, Last Name - as designated by law.
Voter registration card has
First Name, Middle INITIAL, Last Name - once again as legally mandated.
So, potentially, every voter in the state can be affected by this.

Since I’m a white male, I’m pretty sure that I’m safe from those legal challenges. However, I also think it’s a safe bet that the Texas-based voter suppression group “True the Vote” will be out in force in minority districts come election day, empowered by the gutting of the Voter Rights Act that occurred last year (which, not coincidentally, Abbott, as state Attorney General was actually actively pursuing).
