Jim Hoft Links to White Supremacist Site to Smear Michael Brown

Pure hatred from the deranged right wing blogosphere
Wingnuts • Views: 53,228

In yet another mind-bogglingly stupid, hateful post, Jim Hoft, the Dumbest Man on the Internet, is attempting character assassination on the black teenager gunned down by police in Ferguson, Michael Brown, by posting images of what he thinks are “gang signs:” BREAKING: Michael Brown Was a GANGSTER - Seen Flashing “BLOODS” Gang Signs | the Gateway Pundit

I won’t inflict a screenshot of Hoft’s horrible post on you, dear reader, but here’s a saved version of his page at Webcitation (in case he tries to edit it without admitting it).

I’d just like to draw your attention to the final link in his post:

The two pictures on the left appear to depict two different hand signs that show allegiance to a “Bloods” street gang.

Hoft is linking to a site named “topconservativenews . com,” which sounds pretty innocuous, right?

Except when you realize this is the website of the KKK-linked, openly white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens.

That’s right, folks. To smear a black teenager who was shot and killed by police while doing nothing wrong, Jim Hoft is linking to a white supremacist site.

From the comments:

The ’ whatz up blood ’ is the illuminati 666 hand sign. It would be interesting if Brown’s father turns out to be in a masonic lodge like Trayvon’s father.

Council of Conservative Citizens

Founded: 1985
Location: St. Louis, MO
Profiled Leadership: Gordon Baum
Ideology: White Nationalist

The Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC) is the modern reincarnation of the old White Citizens Councils, which were formed in the 1950s and 1960s to battle school desegregation in the South. Created in 1985 from the mailing lists of its predecessor organization, the CCC, which initially tried to project a “mainstream” image, has evolved into a crudely white supremacist group whose website has run pictures comparing pop singer Michael Jackson to an ape and referred to blacks as “a retrograde species of humanity.” The group’s newspaper, Citizens Informer, regularly publishes articles condemning “race mixing,” decrying the evils of illegal immigration, and lamenting the decline of white, European civilization.

In Its Own Words

“God is the author of racism. God is the One who divided mankind into different types. … Mixing the races is rebelliousness against God.”
— Council of Conservative Citizens website, 2001

Continues.

LOL. I used to say that amongst my black friends when I was a kid all the time. It meant like we were brothers, as in blood brothers, or friends. There was nothing gangster about it at all.

Council of Conservative Citizens

The (CofCC) is an American political organization that supports a large variety of conservative and paleoconservative causes in addition to white nationalism,[1] and white separatism.[2] Several members of the CofCC Board of Directors are former leaders of the segregationist Citizens’ Councils of America, founded by Major Bob Patterson, which is commonly referred to as the White Citizens’ Council.[3] The organization is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. Other US states with active chapters include Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Texas, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, California and New York. Sporadic CofCC activities occur in other parts of the country as well.

Extremism in America: Council of Conservative Citizens

December 1, 2001

The St. Louis-based Council of Conservative Citizens traces its roots directly to the racist, anti-integrationist White Citizens’ Councils of the 1950s and 1960s. Its current leader, atorney Gordon Lee Baum, was an organizer for the WCC and built the Council of Conservative Citizens in part from the old group’s mailing lists. Like its predecessor, the CCC inflames fears and resentments, particularly among Southern whites, with regard to black-on-white crime, nonwhite immigration, attacks on the Confederate flag and other issues related to “traditional” Southern culture. Although the group claims not to be racist, its leaders traffic with other white supremacist groups and its publications, Web sites and meetings all promote the purportedly innate superiority of whites. Despite its record, the CCC has been successful in drawing southern politicians to its events: the 1998 revelation that then Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott had been a frequent speaker before the group drew substantial media attention. Mississippi governor Haley Barbour, Mississippi state senators and several state representatives have appeared in recent years.

re: #5 Gus

CCC via SPLC:

Founded in 1985 by Gordon Baum, a worker’s compensation attorney and longtime racist activist, the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC) rose from the ashes of the Citizens Councils of America (CCA), commonly called “White Citizens Councils,” a coalition of white-supremacist groups and individuals formed throughout the South to defend school segregation after the Supreme Court outlawed the policy in 1954 in Brown vs. Board of Education.

Unlike the KKK, the CCA groups had a veneer of civic respectability, inspiring future Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall to refer to it as the “uptown Klan.” While there were plenty of bare-knuckle racists attracted to the councils’ anti-integration slogan, “Never!,” the members also included bankers, merchants, judges, newspaper editors and politicians — folks given more to wearing suits and ties than hoods and robes. During the White Citizens Councils’ heyday, the groups claimed more than 1 million members. Although they weren’t immune to violence — Byron De La Beckwith, who murdered civil-rights leader Medgar Evers in 1963, was a member — the councils generally used their political and financial pull to offset the effects of “forced integration.”

Once the segregation battle was lost, the air went out of the White Citizens Councils. The councils steadily lost members throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Sensing the need for a new direction, Baum, formerly the CCA’s Midwest field director, called together a group of 30 white men, including former Georgia Gov. Lester Maddox and future Louisiana Congressman John Rarick, for a meeting in Atlanta in 1985. Together, they cooked up a successor organization: the Council of Conservative Citizens.

Like the original White Citizens Councils, the CCC is made up of local chapters, some of which are active in civic affairs beyond the national group’s racist agenda. And until the 2000s, some of the group’s “uptown” attitude remained, as meetings resembled Rotary Club events more than Klan outings and regularly featured politicians as keynote speakers.

Most Americans learned of the CCC in late 1998, when a scandal erupted over prominent Southern politicians’ ties to the brazenly racist group. After it was revealed that former Congressman Bob Barr (R-Ga.) gave the keynote speech at the CCC’s 1998 national convention and that then-Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.) had spoken to the group five times, both claimed they knew nothing about the CCC. However, an Intelligence Report investigation, publicized by national television and newspaper reports, made clear what the CCC really was: a hate group that routinely denigrated blacks as “genetically inferior,” complained about “Jewish power brokers,” called LGBT people “perverted sodomites,” accused immigrants of turning America into a “slimy brown mass of glop,” and named Lester Maddox, the now-deceased, ax handle-wielding, arch-segregationist former governor of Georgia, “Patriot of the Century.”

What a wonderful group for Hoft to link to; I’m sure they’re all on the up and up.

BTW, SPLC also had this:

I recall on NPR today, the very act of the police (or any group) getting geared up into full “Battle Rattle” (Helmets, Load bearing equip, gas mask, shields, heavy weapons) changes the dynamics of their minds, the dynamics of how they are perceived, the way the situation develops.

There are times that going heavy may well be required, but the act itself makes the situation more likely to go south.

I think getting the Highway Patrol in to help control the situation was a good choice. The atmosphere between the local PD and the population was poisoned.

re: #60 Backwoods_Sleuth

There was a protest in Union Square. That went off without a hitch. Then a group broke off to march to Times Square. That too went off with no issues. But now there’s an issue with the protesters disrupting traffic.

That may be why arrests are imminent.

[update]
CBS News (1010wins) reports that the group ran into a police barricade at 43rd and 7th Ave, and there was a commotion, but no arrests. The group turned around and went back to Union Square.

A vigil for Brown, 18, was held in Union Square beginning around 7 p.m. Following the vigil, protester began a march up Broadway and Seventh Avenue to Times Square.

The protesters ran into a police barricade line at 43rd Street and Seventh Avenue. Some tried to push up against the officers, but the officers held their own, CBS 2’s Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2.
The protesters then moved on to nearby Father Duffy Square before heading back to Union Square. No arrests were reported.

Exactly. Right now, I doubt anyone really respects the local police force. Bringing in not only a different force, but most importantly a different mindset has brought calm to Ferguson. I doubt it would be like this if MHP/St Louis PD stuck with the same mindset that deteriorated the calm.

I missed Jim Hoft blaming Obamacare for the loss of his health insurance several months before Obamacare went into effect. God what a complete asshole.

I became very sick with what I thought was a cold,” he wrote in a candid post earlier this week. “After a few days I lost vision in my left eye and I checked into the hospital. I soon found out that what I thought was a summer cold was actually Strep bacteria poisoning my blood stream. The bacteria blinded my left eye, ate a hole through my heart, caused five strokes on both sides of my brain and forced the removal of my prosthetic left knee.”

Hoft appeared on the Glenn Beck Program Friday with guest host Dana Loesch, explaining how he has now become one of the millions (so far) to lose their health insurance in the aftermath of the Affordable Care Act.

“I get this notification that I’m going to lose my insurance,” he said. “This insurance that I bought, that I purchased, and I was paying a good premium, (and) covered most everything.”

Thankfully, Hoft said, there are already “laws on the books” ensuring that someone in his condition doesn’t “get kicked off” their health insurance mid-treatment, but his health complications are not short-term.

Um, it’s Obamacare that ended lifetime benefit caps and prevented insurance companies from denying coverage to people like him with pre-existing conditions. There weren’t any “laws on the books” before the ACA provisions went into effect. What an intellectually gut shot piece of shit.

No, they’re fearful. They’re afraid of change. They want things to stay easy and comfortable - rich white people are in power, they’ll take care of their own. Black people, Asians, Hispanics of various nationalities - they will change things, and they are afraid because they don’t know what will happen. And so comes the hate.

Hell, we have sirens go off at least 2x a week just in my tiny little town. (Granted, most of the time they’re just ambulances flying through on their way to the hospital, but still.) I can’t imagine how it must be in an actual major city.

Meanwhile in Ferguson:

Black Panthers help Ferguson head in the right direction

A half-dozen members of the New Black Panther political movement were out on West Florissant Avenue Thursday night as night fell. Not a police officer was in sight. The New Black Panthers directed traffic.

“If you want the police to stay away, somebody has to do it. Nobody is doing it,” said Jarren Brown, aka “Brother Genius,” as he signaled to cars, stopping some so others could turn on side streets, stopping others so some can turn off side streets.

The group, wearing all black and at least one with a small New Black Panthers pin on his lapel, worked up a sweat as they moved. They exuded a friendly but firm stance, urging the slowing, honking cars on West Florissant to move along.

When I first moved to Denver after college in 2011, the largest town I lived in at that point was Steamboat Springs, CO (pop. approx. 10,000). I moved into a house on Lincoln St. about 20 blocks south of downtown Denver. So far they’re doing everything the police haven’t done and it’s actually working. Hopefully that means more transparency now that someone else is in charge.

I live just across the street from the hospital, and depending on the winds, the final approach for the helipad is right over my place. I’ve pretty much tuned it out, and since I spent 6 years in a Dustoff unit, I have no issues with the helo traffic. It may wake me up on rare occasion, but I know that I’m having a much better moment than some poor unfortunate.

It’s the same with the cars - put up, or admit you’ve been lying about what was done in Ferguson.

I have seen reports from folks who have been listening to the scanners that there were shots fired tonight, for example - supposedly by someone in a vehicle not at the protests but driving towards them. No follow-up provided, and I treat all reports like that with a hefty dose of skepticism, since nothing is confirmed.

So I could see it possible that there were reports of possible gunfire somewhere in Ferguson every night this week and that the chief is treating these unconfirmed results as gospel.

I’m on the primary road route from the northern suburbs to the hospital. They usually park an ambulance up at the fire station here in town; in fact, I think they keep an EMT crew stationed over at the police station a couple of miles down the road. Sirens are commonplace here in my little town, and we don’t have riots.

The caption by the STL Post was wrong. They didn’t shut down Times Square. A thousand (or even 10 thousand) couldn’t shut it down.

Did any of them ever watch the ball drop on New Year’s Eve? That’s shutting it down - with a million people or more spread over the entirety of Times Square. A few hundred - or even a few thousand is a mere blip in the daily movement through the area. Heck, most people wouldn’t even notice the group was there but for the cameras and possibly additional police.

Plus… this time of year, Times Square is a no-vehicle space. Pedestrians only. There’s no traffic to interfere with.

Waiting for STL County prosecutor Bob McCulloch to announce his principled resignation.

From Rachel’s show last night:

So what faith or what faith can the community have in a determination coming from the prosecutes attorney`s office that there will be a fair examination and a factual examination and an honest examination of what happened with the killing of mike Brown?

MADDOW: Are there issues beyond specifically the numerical diversity in the prosecutor`s office that have led to concerns in the community about whether or not this prosecutor can be counted on to bring justice in a racially charged case like this?

BROWN: From my own experience, like you said, I`m an attorney, and one of the first jobs I applied for was prosecuting attorney in the county — prosecuting attorney`s office. And when I applied, they were interested in me, and they wanted to hire me. But they said to me, now, Lizz, if we give you this job, you have to understand that there may — you may hear people
using the n word, are you OK with that?

So that gives you kind of the sense of the atmosphere of that office. So should we have — can we have faith in that? It remains to be seen. And you also can look at the history of the prosecuting attorney`s office in terms of the African-Americans they allow to serve on the journey. This office, under (INAUDIBLE), under Bob McCullough has been challenged legally again and again with the strikes they use to keep African-Americans from serving on the jury in order that the prosecuting attorney gets a
conviction. That`s their practice. That`s what buzz west taught Bob McCullough and that office. So what can we expect? I think it`s
problematic?

MADDOW: Lizz Brown, columnist for the St. Louis American providing some very disturbing and helpful context in understanding this.
