Oh No! The Communists Are Mad at Me

Maoist numbskulls don’t like me, and I am bereft

RCP numbskull Travis Morales being arrested in Ferguson, wearing his REVOLUTION T-shirt

Following up on my post about the cultish Revolutionary Communist Party and their violent incitement in Ferguson, Missouri, one of the operatives identified in my post, Travis Morales, took time out from his busy schedule of stoking violent revolution to set his caps lock key on STUN and tweet these Palinesque word salad rants at me last night:

Maoists are kinda cute when they’re angry, don’t you think? Well, actually, not that cute, not when they do things like this, labeling Antonio French, one of the most active black community leaders, a “supreme bootlicker” because he didn’t put up with their crazy bullshit:

Another one of the RCP cultists let me know that I’m a McCarthyite COINTELPRO tool of The System! I think that’s bad.

And now they’ve posted a classy communist rant at their strange website, vowing to continue stoking violence and promoting themselves by any means necessary: Statement From the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA on the Arrests of Carl Dix, Travis Morales and Joey Johnson.

On Monday night, August 19, Missouri police singled out and arrested RCP members and supporters Carl Dix, Travis Morales and Joey Johnson, along with 75 other people during the course of that night. While some of the people defended them, the “peace police” community leaders worked with the police to get them arrested. Joey Johnson was blindsided and punched in the face by St. Louis politician Antonio French. Police Captain Ron Johnson, head of the operation, personally fingered Carl and Joey to get additional, higher charges. Carl and Travis were held overnight, and then released. Joey was also released that same day.

Their sole “crime” was attempting to read the RCP’s statement “To the Defiant Ones” to a crowd that had gathered. The politicians and news mouthpieces justify their arrests and call them agitators. Well, since when is “agitating”—which means nothing but speaking and bringing out sharply the facts of injustice—since when is it some kind of horrible crime to speak the truth about what this system does to people, and why people should stand up and fight against it? In fact, we need MORE agitation like this. As the great fighter against slavery Frederick Douglass said, power concedes nothing without a struggle. Maybe these people think Frederick Douglass was a “criminal”—in any case, they are definitely acting like modern-day overseers!

[blah blah blah…]

What all these politicians and tools for the rulers really fear is the fact: one, that people who have been demonized and cast off and consigned to an early grave or a life in prison are raising their heads and standing up, directing their anger where it needs to go; and two, that the people who are doing this, along with many others, are finding out about the Party and its leader Bob Avakian—the leadership that represents their highest interests and aspirations, and that actually has the strategy to LEAD a struggle to make revolution.

We will not back down. We will not go away.

HANDS OFF CARL DIX AND OTHER REVOLUTIONARY FIGHTERS!
STOP THE REPRESSION OF THE BRAVE FIGHTERS IN FERGUSON!

These are very bad people with very bad motives, and they have a terrible reputation among liberal community organizers for showing up at protests and doing their best to incite violence, then going home and watching themselves on TV. In short, these people suck.

But really these people remind me of my cousin who wants this tragedy to turn into a nationwide riot. There’s lots of legitimate concerns with police and policing but mass violence like these assholes want will only make things worse.

They suck. Wannabe Communists suck.

That’s more attention than they deserve.

In other news, I’m wondering if the Highway Patrol will take action against all the other cops who brandished their weapons, pointed them directly at protesters, and engaged in unprofessional conduct.

Will they take action against the St. Louis County police officers who were pointing sniper rifles at peaceful protesters? Will they take action against the commanders of the tactical units that allowed this to occur?

It’s a long overdue cleanup of the law enforcement response to the shooting.

Back in 2011 I told KT that I knew LGF was hardly becoming “radically leftist” because we didn’t have Maoists and Trotskites arguing here. The Maoists, above, are acting true to form. All that’s missing are the Stalinists arguing with them…

Those with a vision of democracy, socialism & justice are hated by them Charles. You are in good company when hated by evil.

I find it strange that 78 arrests were reported for that night, with all but 3 being just for “failure to disperse”. Didn’t see any explicit mention of arrests of that truckload of RPC anarchists, among those 78.

I’m not going to claim to be a super student of history, but from what I remember you can successfully use violence only when it matches what you opponent is willing to use. Use non-violent actions when your opponent has no moral standing, but significantly more power. And, in the history of relations between blacks and whites here, whites have way more power.

1) According to stories, Pratt was messing around on set and did that scene, and the director decided to include it in the movie.
2) The scene would have been funnier in the movie if the glass had actually blurred his finger, like they did in the image/commercial.

The main difference is which historical figure they choose to worship, hence the names (Maoist - the late Chairman Mao of China; Stalinist - the infamous tyrant Josef Stalin; Marxist - the “founder of communism” Karl Marx).

the difference between being a stalinist and a trotskyite is that a stalinist follows the true inheritor of socialism and hates trotskyites worse even than capitalists, whereas trotskyites follow the true inheritor of socialism and hate stalinists even worse than capitalists

I have read that Mao never actually read Marx and only used the language of communism because he liked Stalin’s absolutism. Plus he favored the whole “socialism in one country” thing since it’s easier to keep your own under control than if they’re off getting corrupted while attempting to spread “revolution”. In fact, I’m pretty convinced that wingnuts will not allow themselves to entertain the possibility that Brown was fired on without provocation. He had to have done something, whether it was “bum rushed” Wilson or just started walking towards him, that got him killed. Some reason to absolve Wilson of any guilt.

Totally and utterly off topic…but my sister took my 8-year old niece to see Katy Perry last night. Care to guess what time Ms. Perry took the stage? 9:25! I just think it is totally unconscionable to present a show for a largely pre-teen audience on a school night that is not going to allow many people to get to bed much before midnight.

Call me an old geezer if you will, but I barely want to go to any kind of show where the act I am interested in is going on after 9 myself!

He pretty much pointed out that the NYT basically presented everything from the police department’s point of view, ignored or misconstrued what actual named witnesses said (showed the videos of two of them being interviewed and then pointed out how the NYT twisted what they said) and then the Times would say there were “conflicting witness reports.” Also, none of the “witnesses” who supported the cops’ version were named—all their supposed testimony came from police sources.

He pretty much said (paraphrased) that the NYT article was more of a police mouthpiece/pr effort, and that it was terrible crime reporting in almost every sentence.

LOD said it better—I’m sure they’ll post the video—it’s his Rewrite section—watch it if you get a chance.

it really was a stellar segment.

He called out NYT for basically doing shoddy police reporting, basically quoting and using PD version of events and never doing any due diligence by actually getting info from PD. It’s just the PDs version of events and the NYT runs with it.

one would hope someone in NYT sees it and re-consider the bits of the article Lawrence mentioned.

I don’t buy it as anything more than something said in jest.

I’m not one for conspiracy theories, too many variables.

But this situation with Michael Brown’s murder by a Ferguson police officer and everything that’s happened since, I don’t know what to believe.

One thing is for sure, witness accounts are extraordinarily consistent.

The price of gas where I live is actually the lowest it has been for years, I think the price today was $3.69/gal in the Eagle River Valley.

I live in a part of Colorado that consistently has the most expensive gas in the region. You can draw a circle around the region and Aspen and Vail are in it. I’m in it too, and shit’s expensive yo!

Did a report in college years back about the shuttle. Just going through the most basic info about its development and construction made it obvious that it was NASA’s “good enough” approach in practice again. From their Faustian deal with the Air Force that led to a bigger and more expensive orbiter to the failure to get a space station funded so the shuttle had somewhere to go regularly.

One thing that’s jumped out at me today was that the cop who got fired for telling people to fuck off last night was heard earlier on the video saying “I’m going to kill you”. I remember hearing Brown’s friend Johnson describing the incident and saying that Wilson said to them that he was going to kill them. I’m wondering how common that particular phrase is department-wide in the St. Louis area?

Edit: I looked up Dorian Johnson’s statement and he said that Wilson said “I’ll Shoot”. While he was trying to pull Brown into the vehicle.

After hearing the story about a knife-wielding guy rushing a cop, I didn’t give it a 2nd thought. People do dumb stuff every day. But that man was mentally disturbed, he wasn’t rushing anyone, and two cops emptied their fucking guns into him. Then handcuffed his corpse.

My one friend hadn’t seen any of them, turned out she hadn’t even seen the Avengers, so we added that one to the list as well. An old and dear friend of mine is a Stalinist, and a long-time member of the Workers World Party. Years ago we were kicking back and I made an offhand remark about the millions killed by Chairman Mao, and she literally stood straight up from her chair, like Nosferatu exiting his coffin in the silent movie, about to defend the guy, and immediately thought better of it and settled back into her chair and nursed her margarita. Since then, we still talk politics all the time, but she got my point, so we don’t broach the subject of what I and most of the world consider murderous dictators. Like I said, she’s an old and dear friend, and besides she does great work organizing for the AFL-CIO, specializing in organizing teachers and battling charter schools, and believe me it hasn’t always been an easy gig. In fact, she’s one of the very few women organizers for the AFL-CIO. Funny thing is, she’s the most sentimentally sappy person I’ve ever known.

I just saw the video of the “other” police shooting in Ferguson in recent days. It’s actually pretty clear-cut appalling as it’s all on video. A young black man acting a little erratic, just shoplifted two drinks, places them on the sidewalk, waits for police. Police come, he says “shoot me” as he walks towards them still at a fair distance arms on the side and no weapon present (that can be seen) , and they shoot him multiple times and kill him, then cuff him. About 15 seconds on the scene until the kill. Guns drawn from the start. Nothing done to calm the situation, just blam.

It blows my mind that this country thinks that is acceptable action by our police. But it’s celebrating by 30% of us.

Indeed, the FPD already said days ago they have no intention of charging Johnson with anything, even though he’s admitted to have been in possession of stolen property at the time of the shooting. So if they’re now trying to squeeze him, his attorney would be on every TV news station to protest the attempt to extort his client into changing his story.

It’s at VOX if you want to view it.

The guy had a knife, and approached the cops twice after being warned to drop the weapon.

It’s a shame the cops didn’t wait for backup or plan a different method of confronting an obviously mentally disturbed person. Once they had their guns drawn, it was all over.

The whole shift in American society around many issues has been one towards reactionism against what I consider a harmonious society. I wonder if there is an emergent anti-civilization movement popping up, a sort of, for lack of a better word, analog to Dadaism but instead of being anti-nationalist now we’re seeing anti-society.

Logic and reason are scorned on our popular outlets like twitter and blogs. What prevails are emotions. For all the words so many writers type there is an underlying disorder, a need to rebel but not just against one’s parents but against any notion of a cooperative society.

These nutjobs who like walking into fast-food places bearing high powered rifles are making quite the statement about their narcissism and fantasy. What they are shouting loudly is “I don’t need you, because I have my gun. Try to take it away from me and I will kill you.”

I like your points about anti-society. That’s very true. We’ve got a large number of people who have convinced themselves that they don’t need to contribute to society to make things work. The whole anti-all taxes movement and the whole attack on any investment in the people thing for example and the idiots who think they made it themselves through their own hard work. I think Obama nearly got at that point when he did the what the Romney campaign tried to dishonestly claim as the president saying people didn’t build their success. If I were still idealistic, I would have been disappointed with Obama the minute he made one concession on HCR. As a realist, I see the bigger picture now. The appeal to narcissism that has been perfected through decades of marketing research is really strong in politics these days.

All those adverts for luxury products, that you “deserve” this or that, isn’t really about “this or that”. What it’s about is taking people back to their days as infants when they were the center of attention by their parents.

But history, if it has any value, tells us that governance is hard and it exists to keep society on a building track, not a destroying track.

You mention the tax thing, and it is really telling that the GOP now is so anti-tax that the taxes Republicans themselves used to push are now seen as non-Republican.

It’s not a coincidence that the idiots cheering the shootings of black teenagers in Ferguson are also the ones who whine so much about supposedly being oppressed by Obama. It’s not just a racist thing, but also a statement about not wanting to live in the society we’ve built.

These people really do want to secede from our modern society. A few of them will pick up and move to some great fantasy land - Idaho or Montana maybe - but most are just stewing in their chairs and being driven to emotional outbursts by forces who will manipulate them for their own benefit ($).

Nice. There is another ethical principle that applies. Use the minimum necessary force to defend. The challenge posed is to do the least amount of harm and still protect yourself and the innocent. All too often the gun is the “easy” way out in the awful perceptions of the short sighted policy maker. The harder way is a lot more training for our police in arrest methods. More tools that are less lethal than guns. As silly as it sounds, a Roman soldier with his short sword could have easily dealt with Powell and not killed him. Now I’m not suggesting we issue sword to police but options abound besides just guns.

I think what makes people so willing to kill is this culture of dehumanization. I don’t know what’s behind that myself. I think FT gets at it some when he discusses this incredible narcissism that does exist. Honestly, although it goes against common western thinking, I’d like to see a mindset where people think more about not what’s merely good for them but everyone. I’m all for individual ambition- without it I never would have gotten my degree and lost the weight that I did but there’s too many people who think that they are better than other people. Whether it’s because of political ideology, skin color, religion, or what, it’s causing too much tragedy.

Ballistics, like gravity, is the law. The only way a bullet could enter the top of that child’s head and exit through his eye socket, given that he was over six feet tall, was if he was on his knees, leaned completely over, with his chin tucked into his chest.

Period.

That was a kill shot delivered into a helpless, unarmed human being.

If that is not a pretty good definition of a homicide, I don’t know what is.

Nothing else really matters. The cop shot an unarmed kid through the head and killed him.

It’s all over the right wing fringe sites, which means it will probably show up at Gateway Pundit any minute.

Considering all that crazy hyper-intimidation —do as I say or die —that’s been on display in Ferguson over the last 10 days, I’m thinking it’s not at all out of character for the FPD to have applied some of that to Dorian Johnson and the shop owner, very early on, in regard to statements about the cigars.

The FPD made a point of reporting not even being able to find Mr. Johnson for several days, as the reason they had not yet interviewed him, and that seemed very odd.

So if DJ comes out soon with a public statement about MB attacking officer Wilson, of the sort that will make headlines on FoxNews, I’m going to remain skeptical.

I don’t know where you live. The police here are professional and well trained. I guess it’s one of the benefits of living in SF Bay Area.

re: #307 De Kolta Chair

Ms. Lincoln was a Republican, and the more I learn about her the more I think her problem was her selfish racist son, Robert.

Don’t have her voter registration, but she was raised in a slave-owning family and her half brothers fought and died for the Confederacy. One of them ran the guards at Libby POW prison, a fore-runner of Andersonville.

So, a luke-warm Republican at best.

re: #321 Charles Johnson

Yes, it’s two days old, which means it’s complete crap or the media would have picked up on it.

You know what all of this is reminding me of, that university team sports forum post that the NY Post ran with about Benghazi.

Guy on a sports forum says he heard from one of his (anonymous) buddies overseas that they got a stand down order and that post commander refused it. The commander was then arrested by his second in command who ensured the stand down was enforced blah blah blah…

Ridiculous right? Yet the New York Post ran the story without verifying anything or even identifying the man who made the forum post.

Just like they ran with dim Jim’s story of the broken eye socket today.

How can you argue with and battle for public opinion against a group of people who simply make up their own “facts” as required in order to advance their agenda?

Journalists practicing journalism used to be our primary protection against this, but now it looks like we are on our own.

After watching an obviously mentally Ill guy get shot dead in his tracks today and the cops handcuffing his corpse, I’ve gone from being uber respectful and respecting of police to finding them disgusting beyond words. Reading PoliceOne makes me violently Ill.

These are the reality of today’s police. Officer Friendly is dead and buried. And I’ve apparently become a 60s hippy because these pigs need to go.

Edited for clarity.

True for some parts of the SF Bay Area, not so much for others.

PoliceOne represents all police like the Three Percenters represent all Republicans.

Are there shitty cops? Yes. There are also good cops. I’m still pro-treating each interaction with police as individuals while recognizing that there are some serious, systemic issues that need to be addressed.

Like I said in my anecdote about WCPD, WTF is wrong with SLPD. That wasn’t the way to handle it. If it was here he’d have been Tasered and taken into custody. That professional, well trained, humanistic attitude is missing in many police forces.

Burn the motherfucker down.

And that’s exactly how this eyewitness described it.

(Video—Eyewitness, Brown fell toward officer)

Brady: He turns around—he’s facing the officer—He had his arms balled up under his stomach like he was halfway down, like he was going down, and the officer fired like 3 or 4 shots at him. ..Before he went down, he was already like this (bends over, head down) and he took like one or two steps toward the officer, and he let go, like 3 or 4 more shots at him

Cooper:—so it was your impression that he was falling down…the officer…they say Mike Brown was running toward the officer. Did you see him running toward the officer in any way?

Brady: No, no—not after he was running away—no, not at all, like I said…he looked like he was going down, like he was giving up, like oh, I’m hit…

For anyone who wanted to see the LOD piece about the bad reporting in the NY Times article, it’s up now. It also includes the video interview of Anderson Cooper with the eyewitness, Brady, that I roughly transcribed above.

The Arch City Defenders report on St. Louis Municipal Courts and their pattern of using traffic fines both as steady cash generators and as gateways for criminalizing the poverty of their citizens.

According to the report, Ferguson makes 2.6 million dollars a year from court fees. In 2013, the court “disposed of 24,532 warrants and 12,018 cases, or about 3 warrants and 1.5 cases per household.”

There’s your smoking gun. If it seems the town of Ferguson sees protesters as something less than human and more like cattle that have escaped their pen, it may be because the town has been “farming” their mostly-black population as a vital source of revenue for a good long time. In Ferguson, a ticket for jaywalking can be the gateway to repeated jail stays, homelessness, and a lifetime of poverty.

Oops, one more thing:

The grand jury has convened on Officer Wilson. 12 jurors, only 3 of them African-Americans.

They can’t keep it forever, some will continue for a while yet though, the rest of the people will be back once something changes, like a grand jury indictment/arrest or failure to indict.

I looked at the other killing video too; depressing. I don’t think they were wrong given their choices as I understand them; there was a young man, likely hearing voices in his head, who wanted to commit suicide by cop, and they were not prepared to do anything else. But what the man needed was some access to psychiatric care, pretty plainly. Our jails are full of the mentally ill. And a fair number of those who meet their end in the street really just need some tranquilizer and a talk to a therapist about their problems.

re: #347 Jocko’s Rocket Ship

Yeah, it’s not evident the he has a knife in the video, but maybe he had a small one in his hand. But to correct the other person’s account, the video shows him more circling the cops than approaching the them.

I’d like to see evidence of a knife, but even so, it’s deplorable.

But I suspect this will be a big deal tomorrow. That when you shine a light on these areas, a lot of other shit that shows itself pretty fast.

The most damning thing is how the initial police story doesn’t match with the video evidence.

Also, we need a better way to deal with the mentally ill besides executing them in the street like dogs.

These people are used to saying whatever they think is necessary and not having it challenged. Ferguson really threw a wrench into that system.

I was thinking that one way the cop could have been injured (if indeed he was) was if he grabbed Michael, pulled him in towards the vehicle and was pulling his gun at the same time. If Michael saw the gun being pulled he may have had a leverage advantage by pushing off of the car to try to get away from it all. A guy his size is going to have a big advantage while pushing off of the car and if the cop refused to let go he may have been pulled towards the interior and injured himself when he hit it. With one hand on Michael and the other on his gun, he wouldn’t be able to keep his upper body from being slammed into the interior when Michael was trying frantically to escape the guy he sees pulling a gun on him. If that is the case, I could see where the cop was angered into responding as he did.

Just one thought that came to mind thinking about this mess.
