Officer Darren Wilson, minutes after supposedly being “savagely beaten”

If you’ve been following the ever-worsening accounts of the purported struggle between unarmed teenager Michael Brown and Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, you’ve seen the descriptions mutate from “minor injuries” for which Wilson was treated and released to “a savage beating” that nearly rendered him unconscious and caused an “orbital blowout fracture of the eye socket.”

But in this video from CNN, Wilson certainly doesn’t look like someone who was “nearly beaten unconscious” just minutes before; in fact, he shows no signs of injury or discomfort at all, walking casually around the body of the young man he just shot to death.

And a New York Times piece about Wilson adds another piece of evidence that suggests this story is being greatly exaggerated at the very least, if not completely invented, because on Tuesday, just a few days after he was supposed to have been “beaten nearly unconscious” and suffered “severe facial injuries,” Darren Wilson’s neighbors saw him casually mowing his lawn — right before he skipped town.

One neighbor said he knew Officer Wilson was on the Ferguson police force, and figured out that he might be linked to the shooting of Mr. Brown when police cars, marked and unmarked, started showing up in the neighborhood several days ago. Then on Tuesday, Officer Wilson began mowing his lawn, but “he did not finish,” said the neighbor, who wore a faded Cardinals T-shirt and camouflage shorts. “It appears they left in a hurry.”
